This is a very bad idea don't do it.

Have you ever heard of SlickWraps? I love them. Bought a replica of them in ebay for 7€ It's like a coloured phone but with a thin skin which also sort of protects your phone.

Incredibly bad idea.

Remember that you need a special paint for aluminum.
Bad idea anyway...

You're not able to disassemble you're phone without doing it any harm... Thus painting just the metal parts will be quite hard.

Aluminium and normal paint and painting procedures don't mix, I learned that the hard way trying to paint car rims and spending a lot of money, ending up wasting ALL that money. Try searching for 'how to paint aluminium" maybe ask anyone who does rims, it's more or less the same.

I modified my Incredible S! Looking for opinions and advice!

I made some modifications to my HTC Incredible S! I bought it off Kijiji at an unbelievable price and wasn't expecting much, the black bezel was terribly scratched and you could see the metal in many spots. I decided to go to work and sanded the metal edges down, and IMO it looks great! Hoping to get your opinions, I'm a newer XDA member. Incase you're wondering I have BINDROID 2.3.5 rom installed, looking to try other roms so if you have suggestions on rome with sense please let me know!

Oddly enough, just grabbed some fine sandpaper and sanded it down by hand, took about an hour along the edges! Because its an HTC phone the paint was very think and took a lot of hard work to get it off, but eventually it did! Just removed the plastic battery cover and went at it! Much better looking than before, it was covered in scratches along the edges before
You must be pretty courageous to just use sand paper
I think now you need a matching back cover

I'd love a back cover! LOL I wouldn't say courageous, I could already see part of the metal from the paint chipped and it was so dinged up and for the price I paid I thought eh, I'll take a risk! Turned out great! I bought it for $75 and sold it just earlier today for $275! Nice profit for an hours work! Going to use that money towards my HTC One X fund, going to miss the phone, out of all my phones it had the best screen imo between iPhone 4S(yes, the demons!) LG Optimus 3D and Samsung Galaxy Infuse.
Hopefully the bugs in the One X get sorted out. Can't wait to get my hands on an unlocked quad core beast!

I love that cover! adds flare to the phone! I wish HTC made it a little more visually appearing in the beginning, add some accent colours or something!
Hopefully using the cash from my missed Incredible S on a One X.

It's a shame HTC don't make different coloured versions of their phones.

How should I sand it?
Greetings all,
Another newbie here. My question is to the people who sanded. Would you do it differently next time? Should I take the casing off the phone? Should I attempt it, never having done it before? The other option is tape it up and sand cautiously. I was just about to just order replacement parts online when I found this thread.
If anyone would like to weigh in, I'd really appreciate any advice you have to offer. I think it's best that I wait to make my decision.
I offer so much gratitude to anyone who can help.
Jennan
Lol I still havnt finished it but I think it looks cool partially sanded. You just have to invest time and get a few different kinds of sand paper. The finer the grit the easier the time I found. That being said its halfway done with 3 hours of sanding.

Hi there! Please welcome another newbie...
Anyway, man the sand papered Incredible S looks awesome Thinking of doing it
Just one question! Did you used some kind of alcoholic silver pen to paint the microphone right above the HTC logo?
Thanks in advance!

Battery covers

Hey all,
Does someone know a website where I can buy battery covers for my Ace? And with this I mean customs, nothing special, just a plain blue or red one for example, I'm kind of fed up with the standard black one.

Unbelievable what €2,- spray paint can do

It's the day after, and I already put it on my phone yesterday. With the hair spray it simply feels protected, it made the surface somewhat smoother, and gave my phone a weird scent, but that will fade away. Really happy with it, never thought the result would look this good. I'll upload a pic later, everytime I want to upload one now uploading fails

You could try imgur.com
Here it is, still amazed by what €2,- paint and some hair spray can do ^_^.
It's about three weeks later and the paint still is doing very well. Some paint is lost around the edges because I had to take the cover off a few times and by moving the USB plug cover. The hairspray seems to tend to get loose either, but most is still on. It overall still looks great, except for some details as stated above
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
you should buy some 1k paint lacquer isntead of hairspray, would last longer!
Hey,
After having a blue back cover I decided I wanted something else. First I cut an Android out of paper and sprayed this gold on the blue base coat, which didn't look that bad, but since it's hard to cut something such small out of paper it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, so after a week I sprayed the complete back cover gold, which I think looks great!

[Q] Question for black HTC One owners who don`t use cases.

Hi.
I have a question for u guys.
I really like the design of the phone and hate to bulk it up with case so i`m planning to use it naked.
The question is: how good the device hold up against scratches and chipping since i`ve seen what happen to black iphones after a while.
Thanks in advance.

Sadly, the paint chips around the edges if you're not that careful - not that much, but tiny specks of silver
Using it with out case.... like it a lot over silver version.Forget about chipping get it for looks

Don`t it loose color on the edges when u put it in and out of pocket all the time ?
I've had it for almost 3 months now, and I do have some silver spots on the back. Also one little dent.
The look is totally worth it TBH ;p
also, most of the silver spots on the back were actually caused by sand that got between the case and the phone in the first week haven't been using cases since.
Another thing, I've heard a black permanent marker actually hides the spots, but I have yet to try this.
No scratches here! 2 months.

I have the black and i'd say that the phone holds up fairly well when exposed to things that might scratch it
the phone's metal does not scratch that easily but the bezel of the metal acrually scratches fairly easily, so a bumbper might be of use but the phone is still usable. The back is also fairy easy to scrath if you use sandpaper and press it really hard but if its not scratched there might be a few marks that can be rubbed away easily using the right adhesive. Hope this helped! and also use a screen protector the glass is not gorrilla glass 3
I've got 2 small chips on the edge of mine, I've tried 2 different markers but both rubbed off eventually and they were slightly different shades as well. I have a nillkin hard cover on mine which doesn't add too much thickness

[Q] Stealth Black Version scratch repair

Hi there, i've used my One for about 3 Months now and since then, sadly some ( you also could speak of many ) scratches, especially around the corners and edges, can be seen. While this probably would not matter, if i had choosen the silver version, i definitely hate to notice all this glittering and sparkling silver scratches, which of course wouldnt be noticed that much on a silver casing, would they? Nevertheless I found a kind of temporary solution to fix those ugly spots: black permanent foil-pen to overpaint those.... The result doesnt look bad ( at least if you dont use a magnifying glass but the problem is that i always have to re-paint my device in a period of ~ 4 days, because it's not "permanent" enough... I wondered if some of you already experienced that problem and found a better solution or something that works for a longer time ; I also consider switching the back casing maybe... . Thx in advance!
P.s. I aready know that special sticker-skins ( shttp://www.slickwraps.com/HTC-One-Wraps-Skins-s/562.htm ), but just heard bad things about them (dont stick properly and peel of easily after some time of use)

[Q] Red colour HTC One paint wearing off

Hi guys. I have a red HTC One. Now, ive dropped it a few times. Ive noticed that the red paint has started wearing off and the silver patches can now be seen. The most damage has happened on the bottom edge of the phone. Sadly, the damage is visible eben with the flip cover on. I know its not a really big issue, but the phone is really beautifully designed and its a pity that the drops have messed the phone. Is there a kind of paint or something that can mask the damage? I understand the body cannot be repaired as its unibody.
I would appreciate any kind of help. Thanks

bring your phone to any car paint supplier so they can scan your phone color and make you a 2 oz bottle of paint (used for touch up on car)
I don't know if you went that route, but you could always use modeling paint. Did that on my blue one and looks superb. Like there was no paint missing.

I know it has been a couple of years, but do you remember what color shade the blue was?
It was a clear metallic blue from hobby lobby if memory serves correctly. The silver didn't chip off so I used clear blue. I forgot if it had metallic chips or not. It was generic blue though. Nothing special like turquoise or baby blue. Just regular clear blue. I have tons of modeling paint, so I can't tell you which bottle I used.
