[Q] Updating Kindle Fire 2 with CM Updater? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to update using CM updater, and it downloads the ROM, reboots, but doesn't install the update. Is there something I have to do?

[Q] TWRP 2.5.0.0 from alroger/humberOS won't let me install gapps

Hi everyone,
I have a Verizon Samsung Tab 7" (p1c). I have gone from CwM 5.0.2.7 to CM 10 vanilla nightly, and was able to go up to HumberOS 20130614 package (his latest). I did this via CwM.
I booted in, and then realized I forgot to flash the gapps for the device. So I booted back in recovery, which was now TWRP. Trying to install the gapps zip failed. In fact, in other attempts at installing HumberOS' ROM, I could get TWRP installed, but then it would never let me install the actual 10.1 ROM.
Any ideas as why this would be? I suppose I can just restart the process (CwM. 5.0.2.7 -> CM 10 vanilla) THEN install the CM 10 gapps package (I have both on the device waiting), then got to 10.1. I assume at that point my apps could be updated within the system itself?
And I think I solved it. I turned off the zip verification checkbox, and both gapps and PDroid patches installed.
Crossing my fingers now, as it boots...

Latest CM 10.2 nightly won't flash

Downloaded and attempted to flash the latest (8/30) CM 10.2 nightly on my Captivate SGH-I897. Both times a dead Android showed up in recovery before it rebooted back to the 8/25 nightly which I'm currently running. Downloaded again to see if it was a bad download, but it appears to be a bad zip. Can't post in the development forum, so I'm putting this here. Will also submit a bug report. Didn't see the error message - it flashed by too quickly.
UPDATE: The 8/28 nightly wouldn't flash, either. Tried to flash both from within the CM Updater. So I rebooted into CWM Recovery and flashed from there. The 8/29 nightly flashed with no apparent problems.
So, did the 8/25 nightly break the CM updater? Nightlies downloaded fine, just wouldn't flash.
I recall pawitp stating something about cm updater being broken for a few builds over in the cm 10.2 thread. You may check there for your answer.

[Q] Problem booting after updating to 10.2M

Today Cyanogen updater notified me that the 10.2M build was available. I usually only flash stable builds, but I decided to check it out.
I was updating from 10.1.3- did everything as I always did, flashing seemed to go fine, but then I got stuck on the Cyanogen splash screen. So I went back to safestrap recovery, flashed back to 10.1.3- wiped cache etc... same thing. Just stuck on the Cyanogen splash. Tried installing 10.1.2, which was the first version I ever flashed. Same problem.
I was able to successfully boot back into stock using Safestrap (v3.11), but now I can't seem to get any version of Cyanogen to successfully boot.
Any suggestions?
Reboot into cm 10.2 before flashing gapps?

CM11 blue bootloop after flashing GApps?

After a lot of reading and research, I got root/twrp/cm11 on my new kindle. It originally was on 7.4.7, but I thought I had to downgrade. After forgetting to turn off OTA updates it upgraded to 7.4.6.
I don't know if this is a factor, but after I got CM11 running, I tried to flash the corresponding GApps in TWRP. After flashing I got stuck in the blue bootloop. I reflashed the ROM and got it working again, but I'm without the play store. Any tips?
Make sure you flashed the right gapps, and when you came from amazon is to cm make sure you had first factory reset and wiped system, then flashed cm11 then gapps, and then reboot and see what happens. If you do that it should work.

Can't remember if I did the factory reset, but I wipe the cache, etc after flashing every time.
Can I just go into TWRP and factory reset, then reflash CM again? Or do I need to start over and reflash the 2nd bootloader again?
Thanks for your help, I'm new to the Android/rooting world.
Just factory reset and wipe system then reflash cm then gapps and reboot. That should work.

Worked like a charm! Thanks for your help!
If I don't see superuser, do I need to run bin4ry's root again or am I rooted and I just don't see it?
Cm is already rooted, its built into the os, look. Under settings u will see a superuser section.

I only just did this earlier, went onto the gapps section on the cyanogen wiki (can't link, new user) on the browser on my moto droid 4 and downloaded the appropriate gapps zip via vends.
Assuming you used Safestrap or something along the lines of that to flash cyanogen you just go back into the safestrap boot menu button screen thing and using the install function, install the gapps zip that should be in the downloads folder of your sdcard and voila!
thanks so much! got it working!
