Active Notification inconsistent - Moto X Q&A

I don't know if others are having the same problem but I have a stock phone not rooted and active notifications enabled
Every time I place my phone upside down and then a few seconds later turn it over it will show the time..no problem...everytime
On the other hand if I leave my phone aside faced up ..after the screen goes black I would say 8 times out of 10 the clock shows up when I pick up the phone.. I'm assuming the sensors know that the phone has been picked up a d activate the clock display....sometimes the screen remains black even after picking it up and giving it a gentle or hard shake.....bug ?

I too am experiencing this especially when there are no notifications which seems like a waste to me.

Can you guys check your sensors? Maybe something's broken. I'm having sensor issues myself, and have noticed inconsistent notification behavior as well.

I don't turn my phone upside down. But just sitting there face up it it completely and randomly light up the notifications

That's normal behavior.

Phone unresponsive when waking up

Is anyone else having this issue as well I can get rid of it I've tried everything to what happens is sometimes when my phone is asleep tonight wake it up it's completely unresponsive, the screen turns on but I can't do anything other than hit the power button on and off and volume other than that I am stuck on the same screen. Also when I wake up in the morning after charging my phone overnight it is always frozen like this but even worse when it has been more than a few hours. Could this be related to using an alternative home? I have used both launcher pro and adw with the same results. I have never had this with any of my other android phones. Any ideas?

Take it to Verizon and get a switchout.
Before I do that I would like to make sure that it isn't software based otherwise I will just run into the same issue.

I haven't experienced that issue, but something similar. About once every 2 days my phone won't wake at all. The notification light seems to be working, but pressing the power/lock button doesn't wake the phone, screen stays black and I have to pull the battery. If I call the phone while it's in this state, nothing happens on the Bionic's side, but the phone I calling from hears 4 rings before going to voicemail. I've uninstalled Widget Locker and Home Switcher to see if either of them are the culprit.
awesome, thanks
I would do a factory rest and see if it was a software problem first.

Do you have in pocket detection on under settings? Try turning that off. I was having major issues like that when I was using that setting.

Good advice, the pocket sensor on this phone is borked.

Time freezes while screen is awake.

The title describes my issue. I used to think WhatsApp did this because it happened while I was using the app, but now it does it regularly whenever the screen is on.
Putting the phone to sleep and waking it up again sets it back to current and it stays normal for a while and freezes again.
I am unsure whether this also happens in sleep mode, but I have noticed that sometimes my alarm fails.

Yeah, I have the same issue with the alarm, but luckily it rings just enough to wake me.
About the frozen clock: it did it once, but after a reboot, I had no probs

Screen randomly glows when screen is switched off

Hey on my Xperia Z stock rom nothing flashed, when it is in standby (screen off) randomly the screen glows and does not stop, like the screen is still off but it's like the back light has come on? is this normal? seems to be a power wasting thing to me. unless i look at it from a slight angel (during the day) i can not actually tell it's on, i'm assuming this is why my screen is using 60+% of my battery is there a fix for this?
Are you using any power saving mode?

Stamina mode.
I have the exact same thing happen, and it is definitely a pain as like you say you can only notice it when looking at an angle, and as I have a flip case on mine I only notice while charging. It is just a case of pressing the power button twice to turn off but that is obviously only when you notice it's doing it! lol
I use stamina mode on mine (which is great) but not sure if this is anything to do with the backlight being left on as it only does it sometimes?
I had this issue when i first got my phone ,and not anymore. Not sure how it solved cause i did lot of factory reset and flashing firmwares.
Are you using light flow or any third party apps?

I get this too. I get it when it's locked and it comes back on. Also when I unlock the screen sometimes this happens and I have to turn the screen off and on again to fix it.
Happening here also but not often. I thought it was low battery mode but happens when it's disabled as well.

No i'm not using any third party light apps, seems like this may be an actual bug if multiple people are experiencing it
I have only done one reset/repair to fix the LED notification light bug.
Hope this helps
I know how to fix this. I have an xperia z1 so im not sure if my problem is the same but i use my phone as an alarm so i notice at night the screen is glowing while its standby. If you go to settings or maybe you have it in quick settings go to brightness and deactivate "adapt to lighting conditions" then it should be a black screen woth no glow in standby mode

Gear not always waking up

Despite having movement turned on in galaxy gear manager, I can't get mine to respomd to wrist turns or screen taps after awhile, only the side button.
Anyone else have this issue?
same here, sometimes the gesture isn't detected i think. rotating you wrist down and back up again usually works for me though

Yep, I have the same problem.
However a simple wrist movement to look at the watch's face turns on the illumination for my Casio Protrek. It detects the same angle/movement and works flawlessly.
Required two moves of the wrist. First up and then turn

Getting irritating with not auto turning on. I just discovered if I do a slowwwwww twist it does turn on. try that.
This isreally my only big complaint
