[Q] [HELP] FastBoot unroot. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey!
So I just got my HTC One yesterday and I'm currently stock on the HTC logo boot screen. I spent the last 2 days on the internet trying to figure out how to fix that issues. It seems that the phone doesn't have any Rom or firmware install on it. I kind don't know how everything work. I don't mind if my phone is root or unroot all I want is to make it work. I followed different method on Youtube none of the seem to work. From what I know it seems that the device is a Rogers device but when I try to unroot it I got a 12 signature fail. Every other thread have broken links and kinda don't fix my issues. Please help me I'm really desperate.
Thank you,

Can you access the boot loader?
Is it locked or unlocked?
Do you have a custom recovery?
What were you trying to do when you got stuck in the bootloop?
The more info you can give us the more we can help.

Hey Cory!
Thanks for answering to my post.
To answer your question,
Yes I do have access to bootloader, fastboot and recovery.
I can use command on my pc to run some fastboot command also.
When I try to use recovery I got stuck at the red triangle alert.
I do not have any backup of my device. Also I dont have Cwm on the device.
It looks like a completely emptu phone. i cant even manage to use it as a disk mode to put a file on it.
I was only trying to unroot it to put back the android stock that came with the HTC One when you purchase it.
Also at the moment I'm able to unlock or lock the device.
Thanks for your help. i have to be honest I'm noob with android.
Thanks,

can you go to fastboot, and then run "fastboot getvar all", and post the results here to see the details of your device (remove the IMEI and serial number before posting)

Sorry I'm really bad with forums. Any guides in particular cuz I cant find the right one there too many.
Thanks I really appreciate

How about the nice, big, sticky thread in General?

Search properly next time

So I manage to have clockworkmode on my HTC One.
I'm not stuck at the point of putting a firmware. I don't mind which one I just want my phone to work.
Bootloader is Unlocked.
When I plug the device to my computer I can't manage to put anything on it and dab doesn't seems to work properly.
I'm a noob so maybe I don't do it properly.
Thanks,

If you're a n00b why did you even attempt it in the first place? Surely you should know what you're doing before jumping in blind?

Actually the reason why I jump into it is cuz I got it from a friends for a couple of hundred dollar and it was like that.
I'm just trying to fix it and also try to understand and learn.
But thanks for the comment

If you manages to get cwm working you can adb push a ROM.
Download any stock ROM from the android development section of the One.
Android Revolution HD or InsertCoin are two favorites.
Put the .zip file in the same folder as your adb and fastboot files. I'm assuming you got adb and fastboot set up since you have cwm now, if not I can elaborate.
Rename the file rom.zip.
Open a command prompt in the folder that has adb and fastboot.
(Hold shift and right click, select open command prompt here)
Connect the phone while its booted into recovery.
Type "adb devices"
You should see your phones serial and the word recovery.
Now type "adb push rom.zip /sdcard/"
It will look like its frozen, leave it alone, it can take up to fifteen minutes or more.
Eventually it will tell you its done.
Unplug the phone and select full wipe or factory reset (inside cwm, not in the boot loader).
Also wipe both caches under advanced wipe.
Select flash or install from SD card, and pick ROM.zip.
Let it do its magic, or follow the prompts if it has an aroma installer. The more mods you choose, the farther from stock it will be, and the more likely it is to have bugs.
Good luck.

if you have made no changes to the OS just install the stock recovery for your os version.
Stock recovery's
if your using custom roms you need to RUU back to stock then take the update
find your RUU here >> http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=M7
use fastboot getvar all to find your phones information

Thanks for the pointer.
So these are the steps i need to do:
1. Download 'recovery 2.24.401.8.img'
2. Rename 'recovery 2.24.401.8.img' to 'recovery.img'
3. Place 'recovery.img' in my adb/fastboot folder (C:\Adb)
4. Open Command Prompt and navigate to your adb folder
5. Type 'adb reboot bootloader' to get into fastboot on the HTC ONE
6. And then flash the recovery img by typing 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'
Is the above all correct?
Yep that's it

OK thanks, it doesnt matter than i have S-ON then?
After i type, 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'
its says, 'waiting for device' and just sits there, any ideas why this happens?
probably drivers.
check device manager and make sure you have a proper driver loaded
fastboot devices should show your device.
If your on windows 8/8.1 it has trouble with fastboot on older hboot versions. ADB works fine but fastboot doesn't work. I think newer hboot's resolve this so it will work after the update.
Might need to just use a win7 pc or VM to flash stock recovery.

Ah yeah i am on Windows 8.1. I'll have to use my laptop then. What drivers do i need to be downloading?
Also can 4.4.2 be rooted yet?
I use the universal naked driver pack and usually just choose google nexus bootloader interface for the driver.
Sure, you root it the same as anything else: unlock bootloader, flash cwm/twrp recovery, flash SuperSU.zip

Ok have managed to flash the stock recovery back to the phone, and have update to 4.4.2. But when i turned the phone back on i had to go through all the setup process and now all my contact and text messages and apps have gone!!. I though i wasnt going to lose all my data?
Your bootloader was already unlocked? or was it locked and you just unlocked it? When you perform a bootloader unlock it does wipe the data as a "safety measure".

It should of already been unlocked, as it was rooted and had TWRP install previously
So theres no way for me to get this stuff back then, pictures, messages, contacts etc?
Um, there's some missing information here.
Short answer, if you in fact "unlocked" the phone recently, you wiped all personal data and there is absolutely no way to go back.
There are other ways data can get erased however.
As you pointed out, the phone was likely unlocked previously. Not sure how it would have become relocked forcing you to unlock again, which you don't seem to remember doing anyway.
Also you didn't originally say you lost your pictures. Did you or didn't you? Losing texts and contacts is normal when flashing a ROM. There are backup apps for texts and most people keep their contacts in the cloud do you normally just resync and you're done.
But pictures is something else. Sounds like someone did a factory reset and/or formatted the entire /data partition in recovery.
Normally most recoveries know that when you "format" data, you are really just selectively erasing everything in /data *except* /data/media. You don't usually do an actual format. The stock recovery does not make this distinction, and even custom recoveries often have an advanced features that lets you truly format all of /data. So you might have nuked your pictures in recovery somehow, no unlocking necessary.
You need to go into more detail.
But if you are saying your pictures are gone, they're probably totally gone.
One last possibility, the version-main you posted suggests you may have been using android 4.2 originally.
But I suppose it's possible the original ROM you were using was actually 4.1. Maybe your stuff was at the top level of /data/media and never got moved to /data/media/0
This surprised quite a few people during the transition from Android 4.1 to 4.2
So *if* you didn't unlock *and* didn't totally format everything *and* your old ROM was 4.1, well.. get a file browser and have a look around. Maybe you got lucky.

Well before i flashed the recovery image bootloader had 'Tampered' and 'unlocked' listed at the top of the sceeen, just like it does now so im not really sure what happened. But as soon as i flashed the 'recovery 2.24.401.8.img' back onto my phone and then downloaded the 4.4.2 system update and installed it, when the phone restarted again it was like it was back to factory default in that i had to go through the whole setup screens!, so not sure whats happened.
But on closer inspection even though i have downloaded and installed system update 4.4.2, if i go in settings>about>Software information> it says im on Android version 4.3 and software number 3.62.401.1, isnt this wrong as ive updated to 4.4.2???
You have two separate issues here. You lost your data and you're not running 4.4.2
Apparently you're not worried about your data.
To get 4.4.2 you either need to a) get to a place that is so "stock" that OTA's will take you the rest of the way or b) manually flash a 4.4.2 ROM. The b) option usually requires S-OFF and a suitably recent recovery compatible with KitKat.
If you are already S-OFF of course b) is way simpler. But you're not. In fact you have HBOOT 1.56 which can make S-OFF less certain. If you can get S-OFF that's the way I would go. I personally never screw around chasing OTA's.
You may be in an awkward place right now.
Time for someone with more patience than me to get involved I guess.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
No please don't get me wrong I am certainly worried about my lost data, especially the pictures, but from what you said I there's no real way to recover them, is that correct or is there a way at all?
Probably gone, but I would still use adb shell or a file explorer app to look in
/data/media
Your most recent personal data (the stuff you made in the last day or two, not the lost files you are looking for) will be in
/data/media/0
You're checking to see if there is useful stuff *outside* the " 0 " folder.
Don't delete anything unfamiliar (for instance if you see clockworkmod, leave that alone -it's nandroid backups). Just look for orphaned folders full of personal stuff like "DCIM" or " Music" or whatever.

Sadly there is nothing in /data/media there are 3 folder, 0, legacy. obb and a file .htc_layout_version none hold any of my old photos . I have even tried the program, Wondershare Dr.Fone and that doesnt find any of my old photos either...so i guess there lost for ever, bugger.
I guess i need to get this phone back to stock and then try the update and see if it takes this time?, so ill need to remove the root, TWRP recovery and SuperSU?

Htc One stuck on Logo, need 1.29.666.17 RUU to flash or another solution

EDIT: This is the Htc One (M7) btw. Guess it was obvious because of the version it came with out of the box, but just to clear any confusion.
EDIT 2: Meant to say my Device was S-On* NOT S-Off. Sorry.
So I'm completely new to Android, and yesterday was the day I got my first ever Android device.
It came with Sense 5 and android 4.1.2 out of the box.
After a while of playing around with my new phone I started checking for updates to get it to the latest version. When I first check it showed that a small update was available and I started downloading it. I noticed that when this update was installing it would first go into that screen where it shows that phone with a green arrow and a download bar, and then all of a sudden it would restart and go back to the Htc One Logo. It did this a few times before finally completing the upgrade.
I checked for updates again and this time it showed me Android 4.3 + Sense 5.5. I downloaded and started installing the upgrade. It did the same thing as last time but I decided I'd power off the device (Figured out later this was what caused this whole problem) and power it on again. After I did that it was stuck on the Htc Logo.
I went on the bootloader and tried factory resetting but it just brought me back to the Htc Logo again.
I found a few threads telling me to hook up my device to the computer, load up fastboot and use cmd to clear the cache and it should work. That failed too however.
After talking with a few of my friends who happen to be android experts, they told me that I because I had turned off the device in the middle of the update I had somehow corrupted some system partition thing and I'd need to flash the stock rom on once again.
After almost 24 hours of research, I've gotten to a point where I've almost figured it out but I hit a bump. My device is not rooted and is S-On (Bootloader used to be locked but in the process of fixing it).
According to my friends because my device is S-On I won't be able to flash Custom roms and need a RUU file that is specific to my carrier. I found out that I basically need the RUU file that has the same number as 1.29.666.17
This apparently is almost non-existent on the web. This is the bump I've hit and I have no idea what I can do now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also note that I am incredibly new to android. Never rooted or anything in my life before. I've had quite the learning curve in the past day though.

That was my mistake, I did mean to say S-On.
I did try to get the S-Off using an Htc One Toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364445)
However right after Step 1a (downloading Firewater), I moved to step 1b (rebooting my device) it kept saying "adb reboot
error: device not found"
I googled this and it told I had to enable USB debugging, which I can only do through the settings of the phone apparently. And I can't access it so I'm not sure if I can still S-Off my device.
When you enable USB debugging does a pop up box come up on your phone when connecting to your computer to allow the computer to connect?

See that's the thing, I can't enable USB Debugging because my phone is stuck on the bootlogo.
I don't think there's a way for me to enable USB debugging without having access to there phone, or is there?

Alright so did what you said, successfully flashed the new recovery.
Sideloading seems to be giving me some trouble though.
After I "swiped to sideload" I get this
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
Full SELinux support is present.
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
E: Unable to mount '/cache'
Starting ADB sideload feature...
Been stuck at that for about 15minutes now.
About 5 minutes in I thought I was maybe supposed to use my pc to sideload, but cmd said "error: device not found".
Thanks again for your help by the way.

Didn't work. Ran the file, used device manager to manually locate the files in Program Files (x86) and double clicked "HTC". Just keeps saying it couldn't find the driver software for my device.
But if I understand correctly, all I have to do is find a way to update the drivers and I'll be able to sideload the Rom, and hopefully I'll have a working HTC One once again?

Gave up trying to install new drivers and instead opted to pay a small fee to get it fixed.
Thanks again for the help, may have worked if I got those drivers installed.

A few quick questions.
The rom will work even if I'm S-ON right?
Also if I do fix my phone using this method, is there a way for me to return it to the stock rom?

Sounds like you haven't read anything about, rooting, S-Off, firmware, hboots, roms, etc..
Suffice to say most people on this forum have more trouble going back to full out of the box stock than anything else.. compared to that, unlocking bootloader, rooting and flashing roms is a doddle(very easy). Suggestion...Read first.

I have not :/
I usually do my research before attempting to do anything to any of my devices, but since I had no intention of rooting/S-ff/Unlocking bootloaders I'm just incredibly clueless. Did some reasearch and it does look like sideloading Roms work on S-On devices. :good:
I have a question for you, or anyone else that knows, but the guy I sent my phone to repair told me the following:
Since I couldn't find the RUU specific to my device, I tried using a Nandroid backup that someone uploaded (This was for Bell Mobile). According to him, he says I must have tried flashing a corrupt rom or something so it's no longer an easy fix. He wants me to pay $130 so he can send it back to some factory to get it fixed. He's telling that this is no longer a soft-brick, but a hard-brick (note that the phone can still access the bootloader, recovery, etc).
I'm pretty sure this guys trying to milk me out of my money, so I told him I'd pick it up tomorrow and get back to him later.
I just want to make sure that what he's saying isn't true though, since I'm not exactly knowledgeable about this and I have a pretty good chance of being wrong.

Definitely am. Going to pick up the phone tomorrow and try out sideloading through a USB Otg cable. I'll report back with the results. Really hoping this will work.

Fixed it!
I sideloaded the rom you linked me through a USB Otg Cable. Thanks a lot for your help!
Now I just want to get it back completley to stock.
If I backup my phone through this rom and then go back to stock, I'm assuming my backup file will restore all my contacts/settings/photos etc?

Accidentally erased operating system on HTC One M7

Hi, i run an HTC One M7 that was originally from AT&T. I unlocked it and use it in my country. Few days ago i wanted to install the stock Android and try it. I did everything as was said - unlocked the bootloader, s-off, recovery etc. after a few hours of the stock Android experience i wanted to change it to ARHD. As i changed it a question popped out asking if i want to root my device. I answered "yes", not knowing what it means. My phone was bricked and stuck on the HTC welcome screen since yesterday. I tried a lot of differend ways of fixing it and still no results. I locked and unlocked the bootloader again, tried to install the official RUU, but it doesn't want to. I get MTP driver error when connecting to my computer.
I have "can't mount SD card" on my phone. I'm pretty desperate, but i want to fix this issue and get back my phone. This will be a lesson for me.

Well I'm H3G__001 UK. H3G__402 is Italy right? Not that it makes a difference the software is all the same.
Unfortunately there is no ruu for H3G. What exactly happened with your phone it can hopefully be fixed without the need for an ruu.
Bad flash, wiped your os? Can you access bootloader or recovery?

Hi and sorry for the delayed reply, as I say there is no ruu for h3g, but it sounds as if you just need to push a compatible Rom to the phone, what is you current version of TWRP.
I do have some h3g stock nandroids, one for jb 4.3 and one for kk 4.4.2. I'll need to upload them for you and I can't do that until later this evening as I'm in work now. If you want to go s-off the jb 4.3 nandroid has worked for me everytime so would be worth a try. I'll upload it tonight and send you a link as soon as it's available.

Ok sorry I was very busy last night. I am on this for you now, I'll post link as soon as it's ready but my upload seed is very poor
I created this nandroid using TWRP 2.6.3.3 but it should restore fine using other versions of TWRP.
Do you have adb working when in recovery mode? You will need it to push the nandroid to the device.

Hello, can leave this version of TWRP: "twrp-2.7.1.0a-m7", that i've or you can suggest another version?
System not Mount, i've tryed to push in fastbootRUU but fail anythinghs i want push.
I've tryed putting phone in Recovery mode and i can see from "device manager" that have "adb android" or similar then if open can see "My Htc", if i put in normal mode, (is w/o Boot.img), i can see MTP that install/uninstall and phone how "Cd Unit external", (cannot open).
Not warry where upload it, important not use Mega.co becouse in Italy is Blocked, any other site is ok.
Please can send to me also Command for Push this Nandroid 4.3 in Recovery mode?, (i've also one dongle + sw but for Flash anythinghs requiere fastboot RUU mode), anyway i'm looking forward this Nandroid Bkp and how push in phone hooping that i can fix the phone
@vanito backup done with TWRP 2.6.3.3 is compatible with 2.7.1.0
He is asking you about ADB and using command line of your PC to push the files. Do you know how to do it? Do you have SDK installed on your PC?

twrp 2.7.1.0 should work fine :good:
adb will only work in recovery mode. Put phone in recovery and connect usb. Then in the adb/fastboot command line type
Code:
adb devices
You should see an output of your phone's serial no. If you did it's working. You can test adb push with a Rom if you have one. Rename the Rom file to "rom.zip" and put it in your adb/fastboot folder. Then in the command line type
Code:
adb push rom.zip /sdcard
The push will take several minutes the command window will be unresponsive until it's done. When it's finished the push you should be able to Install the Rom using TWRP.
P.S. The stock nandroid is uploading to dropbox. This is ok for use in Italy?
Sent from my HTC One M7 - ARHD 81.0 Using Tapatalk
@vanito you have got a real little guide for Windows by @Danny201281
In the case that you are a Linux user, it works just slightly different: in such case check my little thread about running fastboot & ADB in Ubuntu. It is posted in the Nexus 7 section but ADB works for Samsung just the same way.

Hi, I'm trying to use firewater + tempwater for S-Off. However, while the firewater push completes fine, when I try to push TempRoot, all I get is the following:
adb push temproot /data/local/tmp/

Honestly no idea. I'm just using the S-Off interface with the toolkit, so I'm not entirely sure where it's actually putting this stuff. Right enough, there's no "download temproot" option like there is for firewater/revone/etc, just a push option. I'm using firewater because Hboot is v1.57.
Frankly I'm just trying to root the thing. I was led to believe s-off was a prerequisite of that, but I'm beginning to believe that's not exactly the case.

You don't need S-OFF to root. You just need a unlocked bootloader, custom recovery and SuperSU. Here are the instructions.
Also, I would use the raw adb and fastboot commands without the toolkit. I would recommend the Minimal ADB & Fastboot Tool. Most Dev's and OPs will give the commands for how to do certain things so you could just copy and paste. It also gives you more control on what is happening to your phone.

You don't need s-off to root the phone. But with s-on you will be limited to flashing Roms, Recovery and Kernels. Firmware updates are possible but must be Signed firmware and can only be flashed with a 're-locked bootloader.
Just flash TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.3 boot to TWRP then reboot system from TWRP. You will be prompted to root the device Select yes. You may need to update binaries but that's it your done.
Better still just flash a prerooted Rom with TWRP. :good:

Wow that second getvar is pretty messed up. First thing I recommend is try is flashing an ruu. http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...20_10-40-1150-04_release_326691_signed_2-exe/
This one matches your original getvar. While the device is connected with fastboot this way. Run the ruu.exe on your pc.
If you found my posts helpful, no need to say thanks. There's a button for that

I downloaded it and tried to run it, but it gets stuck at
"Verifying information on your Android phone. Please wait..."
I checked the program with Process Explorer and its trying to run this:
cmd /C htc_fastboot -s ????????????? getvar boot-mode
Unless there is a way to force it through I don't think this RUU way with work.

I kind of expected that due to the output from your second getvar but it was worth a try. To be honest this is probably off topic here so you may want to take it to a different thread.
I would however like to bring this to the attention of @nkk71 let's wait to see what he has to say on this subject
I've never seen a getvar so messed up so let's hope nkk71 has some idea :good:

Hey,
I have a UK M7 (locked to H3G if that matters) currently running Android Revolution w/ Sense (rooted).

Really I just wondered if anyone thinks that this is a bad idea for any reason.

hello there OP , thankyou for the time you have put into this tool, im a noob with smartphones, and once tried 'windroid' one-click/aio type device from xda forums, it ended up with me unlocking the token thingy, but then it would not go frther, it actually put a cross X over the pic of a HDD or looked it, i quickly hit power off/one and it booted automatically into a factory install/reset kind of environment.. since then ive been to scared to even try rooting again... but your kit and hansoon one seem O.K , but my problem is, how do i find what version exactly of phone that i have, the thing lookes like the htc one x, i recall updating the rom couple of times now, so it is on kernel v3.* , but again, i need to somehow find this info and then try again using a app that actually works..i getting good reviews on your thread so i guess im hoping for some magic here, i know the questions ive asked are very nooby, but trust me i thought i had killed it, i remember unlocking the token id, i recall pasting this in and then it showed up as unlocked.. i have kept my .bin file handy if ever i re-needed it.. so i guess that part is done.. i would LOVE to run something wich doesnt kill the battery, as im experincing now is 1day lasting full charged..without many apps :S
i am sorry for the length of this question, its just i had a bad experience once, dont want that again.. but im hanging to try again... feel free to respond, or not respond, i know what im askingshould be here somewhere, although the model, if it is a one or one-x i guess is the only thing i am curious of..is how would i know because a couple of models looked very similar.. i THINK im running android 4.2.2 ,kernel 3.* , i beleive there is a couple.
i know there is a new exploit out for v3 kernel. would this not help make the tool 1000% proof.?? one wich i was told is now being used for android v5 wich apprently roots every device upto v5, so thats all v3/4 and 5 in one exploit...i have 'heard' that xda do have it and are using it for newer phones.. but what an oppurtunity,if this was added into your tool,it would be 100% proof on everything android.. just a thought but, you seem like a happpy go lucky cool op, so im just saying, if i was working on a tool, id work alot more on exploitation of the device/making sure there is no residual pains, and simply adding ballon like tips around the app kinda cool touch... i like your tools look, and i wish to use it.. but i dont want to endup being locked in phone..
i have htc one x , 32g, i believe :S it LOOKS exact same as the htc one-x,it was given to me as a one-x (sold to me),and at that stage,it was on ebay prettymuch on par with the other htc one-x,so it would be one-x im about 99% sure, i just now wonder about the updates i allowed the phone to perform, wich then changed android version/kernel.
I dont know if you have the answer i need, or answers if you wish to answer the entire post, because your going to get it,and really its you i want to ask anyhow, so its fine if it stays private, although since it is noobish, i guess you could go either way... i do raise some issues for some people to scared to get 'bricked' .. my phone uses vodaphones manager, wich i have uninstalled everytime it installs, now it has embedded itself though, and it only deletes down to un updated vodafone manager, i deleted every other voda app on there... so its basiocaallly a question of, do i go ahead with this version, or do i wait for something thats 100%.. im sure alot of people are like me, alittle hesitant to root..or had bad experiences.. ive rooted my samsung duo young fine, but the htc, well.. its got me sofar..i see all the one touch tools,i grabbed them, but wich one will actually work right.. remembeing i have used one wich was labelled windroid from xda ,it only made me paranoid as hell to use a working one, and then, i also think of exploitation, and i seriously wonder if your app can rooot an updated one-x on 4.2.2,and it does not go higher, it seems like two updates to get to this version,no updates now for about 6-12months,so i am looking here at a handful of exploits wich DO work and will root, ie; futex ; or asking you, if you think that would make your app even nicer, and erhaps a cleaner root process is achieved with something new, i know the one mentioned in UG came to xda,so,why is there no updated packs :?
i would hope that things got updated, maybe just me,but if theyre updating theyre firmware, then surely you must update your end to handle this... so is MY phone going to be o.k with this app, or do i wait and hope there is a newer expoloitation achieved ?
its a long post,, but i hope im getting through to some dev, theres alot to be done with these packs, specially with things like google play pad coming out, id like to buy one of those, but again, how do i trust apps wich have not been updated in ages...yet my phone has updated.. it just blurs the mind as to how you would get around kernel patches..i know android has many exploits, but not clean ones like the current one in use.. i will look in on this thread and hopefully someone will explain to me how to get the exact phone info, and alittle more info on how things getting rooted, ie; exploitation , and kernel images/links to GOOD working kernels already tested.. noobs like me dont want to test 5 types, we want one GOOD one
im sorry to write alot, but this is good topic ive been walking around for to long. i even have a spare iphone sitting here just for when i root the one-xx.i am confdent that if anyone will help me on this, its going to be xda forums, simple as that... i dont even bother reading many other blogs nomore, everything android is here..its a great little place, and i love it sofar.. exploring the roms, reading, wanting :[.. i will await some feedback. again, apologies for long post, but i trying to be thorough as i can on each issue. cheers.
dru
---------- Post added at 06:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:37 PM ----------
apologies for the long post... ofc i dont expect it to go public BUT it does raise some issues..i dont see all of xda forum yet, but every search sofar has yielded results..only areas i find lacking is the rooting devices actually explaining wich root method is being used, its not a necessity, but some root methods leave memory leaks/other bugs wich can be phone specific, ome wich dont do anything atall because they bypass aprotections properly.
IF there is a thread on exploiting, i will join there..someone has to be sharing the exploits, and so they should, but alittle more info could be given to public,i guess not all people care, they just want one-click, well, i care about what i stick in my phone, so flashing a custom rom, kernel to me is a big deal i expect done right once..
i look forward to some feedback on my htc issues.

You are not at the right place, this is the HTC One forum (M7) not the One X (Endeavor or Evita)
If you have an Endeavor One X (Tegra 3 cpu variant) , S-OFF is not possible
If you have an Evita One X (XL) (Qualcom cpu variant), head to this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att

No this is not for the One X, anyway better to learn how to use ADB and Fastboot .
Do this toolkit work with last android update?
I have a HTC One running 4.4.3 with brand (tim)(sense 6.0) and I wanted to know if this toolkit works with my device. I am not very good with modding so I could do disasters.
Thanks for replies.

Then I would suggest spend a few days to learn. Even if it does work and something goes wrong you won't know how to fix it. Do the proper research and learn to do things the right way instead of using a tool kit.

Hello Marco,
Here is how to relock your bootloader:
1. Power the phone down
2. Hold "Down" button then hold "Power" key while still holding "Down" button until you get into the bootloader
3. Release "Down" and "Power" button
A different way to do it other than steps 1 - 3 is follow steps 6 - 8 and type in a command prompt
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
4. Tap "Power" key once and it will change from "HBOOT" in white letters with blue background to "FASTBOOT" in white letters with red background
5. Connect your USB cable and it will say "FASTBOOT USB"
6. Navigate to the folder you have your adb.exe, fastboot.exe stuff from Android Studio or wherever you obtained it from (Mine is in C:\myusername\Android\sdk\platform-tools)
7. Hold the "Shift" key then right click in any empty space in that folder
8. Select "Open command window here"
9. Type
Code:
fastboot devices
in the command window, then press Enter just to make sure it is picking up your phone
10. You should see something like: "HT42PXU99475 fastboot" if you don't make sure your USB cable is inserted all the way and you are in "FASTBOOT USB"
11. Type
Code:
fastboot oem lock
in the command window
You should see something like:
Code:
(bootloader) [PGFS] partition_update_pgfs: pg1fs_security
(bootloader) TZ_HTC_SVC_ENC ret = 0
(bootloader) [PGFS] partition_update_pgfs: pg2fs_sec_recovery
(bootloader) Lock successfully...
(bootloader) TZ_HTC_SVC_DISABLE ret = 596539196 (0x1FFFFD6C)
(bootloader) Start Verify: 3
(bootloader) WARM RESET: 9
(bootloader) [INFO] Reset reason in IMEM is 0x77665800
(bootloader) [INFO] Rebooting device
FAILED (status read failed (No such file or directory))
finished. total time: 1.110s
Your phone will automatically reboot and your bootloader will be locked
You can check by booting into the bootloader and it should say *** RELOCKED *** at the top in white letters and purple background
Thanks Dude!
Its locked indeed!!

You only need to follow those steps if you plan to use the RUU from here.
If you have a stock recovery, you can use TWRP. If you have the file boot.emmc.win in the recovery folder, that is the stock kernel. Just put the stock image on your sdcard and Restore it in TWRP.
It worked... A little too well.

I had been bricked, or at least I'm pretty sure I was. However... Upon trying to unlock the bootloader via the WinDroid deal offered here in xda, the bootloader now won't re-unlock.
The word *RELOCKED* has been frickin' glaring at me for over 3 hours now, and I can't seem to find the answer or help anywhere. :crying:

Do you have adb on your computer? This is one reason why I don't trust the one click root methods. You can fix this by downloading the rom for your phone from the HTC website. If you tell me what carrier you have I can get you the link to download a RUU to use on your computer to fix this and return the phone to stock.

I do have abd and, fortunately, I still have the RUU I used to unbrick my phone. I really was optimistic about WinDroid working, but I guess that's just how it goes. Hopefully I can get it unlocked and, at least, rooted before noon. Big day today, might chase a few tornadoes!!! :fingers-crossed: I'll post another reply to say whether or not manually re-unlocking it works.
On second thought, it would be very wise to be proactive and see if my RUU is the same as the one you're thinking of... I may have just made myself look like an idiot, but with this rooting and rom and kernel stuff I am a complete newbie. If you could post that link, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!

WinDroid is a great tool. The only problem with it comes when you have adb installed already and you install the drivers that come with WinDroid. They cause a conflict.
I hope the manual method of unlocking works for you. It has always worked for me, unless I made a mistake. When I correct the mistake, it goes off without a hitch.
You can find the RUU here for your respective carrier.

I may need some more help, pertaining the specific step-by-step stuff... Downloading the stock ... Rom/RUU?... from the HTC website. I'll be up all night trying to get this fixed, mainly due to needing my phone for my new job early this week. My end goal through all of this is to get a rom/kernel, or whatever else is needed, installed on it and either have it with write-protection removed or just completely blank so I don't have to worry about Boost hacking my phone and installing a bunch of crap and changing my screen setup. I really appreciate your help, guys. I will admit that, yes, I am slow to catch on to this stuff, but once I completely get the hang of this I want to be a big contributor to XDA and start helping others and developing/testing roms, etc.

I'm pretty sure I can fix the phone now, since I finally have all the information I've needed for the last week!
Do you have a Boost Mobile over there in your Country? If not it's going to be pretty hard to use the phone since it's locked to Boost..
Hey, yooo hooo @deepak oli Answer me!!
---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:37 PM ----------
Fine don't answer me then, do it when you want to..
Ok here we go, you need to flash twrp from right here ---> twrp-2.8.7.0-a11.img This is going to be flashed after you unlock your boot loader so go use your unlock token and unlock the boot and then from a computer flash the twrp by doing fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-a11.img after you flash that go to the HBoot and tell it to reboot to recovery and while you're in recovery tap backup to make a backup because it needs to be done to move certain files/folders... Then go to the XDA thread and download the modded cm11 by me and follow the directions on which file to put it in and after this your phone will boot... CM11 Modded on XDA
Will this work and will i be able to use my phone again???
If yes then thhhaaaannnnkkkk uuuuuu!!!!!!
