[Q] 720p video on ace - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone tell me how to run 720p on ace

Is not possible at all due to hardware limitation.

cou can try mx player with s/w mode, but very laggy and audio is sometimes broken. no way to play these videos without problems on our ace

I know , it is not possible for our device....
But , our device is also don't official support 4.0 or more rom..
But , it is possible for unofficial right...
On that way...i think for xda also possible for run hd video in ace...
What do you think...???
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium

As I said before the Galaxy Ace has HARDWARE LIMITIATION (=not enough power/codec limitation due to a cheap and simple cpu and gpu) that make impossible to play or record 720p videos. Is not a matter of rom or something related to software.
I ask moderators to CLOSE this thread because is useless

Can we get 1080p playback in our device?

Can we get 1080p playback in our device?the samsung infuse 4g in us uses the same cpu and has the same same amount of ram not sure abt the gpu tho.but it runs on froyo so hardware acceleration by gpu isnt the case here i think.so can any one develop a tweak or sumthing for 1080p playback and if possible 720p mkv playback, cause it lags in 720p.its irritating cause the cpu definitile has the capabality to play upto 1080p i think.all thanks to a half baked job done by samsung we are stuck with this issue.any input anyone????

No. The i9000 screen resolution is 800 x 480, meaning it has enough resolution to display 720, but not 1080. Nothing to do with software or cpu / gpu potential. Besides which, with a screen display that small, there would be no noticable difference between 720 and 1080 anyway.
Playing a vdo depends on processing power not on screen resolution.i kno there wont be any noticable difference on viewing due to the screen size.but that way i cud play my 1080p contents without converting on my fon.besides i 9000 can already play 1080p vdo.its i9003 that we r talkin abt.

Yes but the same cortex a8 processor just slightly overclocked.
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA App
I think its basically GPU, than CPU power which is important for playing vdo. it could be possible with more optimized drivers and compatible codecs to process those vdo files. But where is the development for our device? Not even custom recovery yet to try out and experiment. very much disappointing , st such a large community we do not have a single techy to help us.

i also tried some non-native players, such as vplayer, which allows you to play matroska files... but even a 3Gb sized movie slows down my device... it was 1080p resolution, and i thought that maybe a "little" 3Gb file would work smoothly.
Maybe if you convert it to mp4 or avi, it would work! but it makes you waste your time, and it's so annoying...
I have used kies converter.it converts 1080p and mkv files to 720p mp4.it works.but as said, tym consuming.altho mkv files which are not 720p plays smoothly on non native players.but why isnt sumone with programin knowledge buyin this fon and workin on it.it practically has the same hardware as moto droid x.have u seen the benchmark of that thing on stock firmware!!!

Thanks to samsung crappy drivers and outdated rfs file system.

screen resolution is not affecting to play 1080p videos. Because Galaxy S2 also has the same display resolution but it can play 1080p videos. Galaxy Tab P1000 has the same CPU and GPU as galaxy S, but it also can play 1080p videos. So the problem is with the codecs. Hardware is enough to play full HD videos.

I'm having a similar problem too. Can someone pls tell me how to flash a "Kernel", as well as a download link for the 720p patch?
Seriously nobody helping?

IMO the problem is MX player, hardware works great on every single format in VLC for me and playing 720p no longer lags, which it did with MX. I'm on CM10.1 but was the same on previous versions.

Ok thats something to hear, but I tried Moboplayer and dice player and they all have the same results. Are you sure that vlc will handle it? Also what about 1080p? My gtp1000 can handle it on gingerbread. . .

Why would you want to play back 1080p on an i9000?
Anyway i don't know, but I could test it later when I'm home if it's important.

Just tried 1080p on vlc on the p1000, no joy whatsoever. I read from another topic that I have to use another kernel, here's the website:
http://www.humberos.com.br/p/android-ics.html. You think this would work?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I just realized you're posting from a Galaxy Tab, and while we have much the same hardware you should take your question to the appropriate section...
When my phone was new, the Samsung stock player was perfectly able to play anything I threw at it, you don't seem to know much about flashing so I assume you're on a stock ROM, in which case you have the stock player. Use that?
Also, for viewing on your Tab anything more than 720p is completely useless.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yes that is true, it is completely useless. hmm anyways I just wanna know is there any app that could allow me to configure the white and black color density, just like in the stock Gingerbread?

Can we port slow motion videos to our S1

Hi there, while moving in YouTube I found that the HOX and Note2 aren't the first phones to record slow motion videos, if fact, the wave 1 (bada running platform ) could do that, and if you think about it, the S1 and wave 1 has the same hardware, so can you Dev team brought that, even the iPhone has an app make that possible, I hope you discuss that, thx.
Can you rate my English, out if 5 ?

Oh i see, thank you for the video
First of all, we will need to incrase the fps of video recording i think, then we could make it
We will need like 80-120 FPS, then we can do it
We will need a hard-working developer to it :3
I think droidjam can look at it (if he have free time)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
My old Samsung s8000 had that option too, and it was running touchwiz 2.0
To do that, it records at 120 fps and at a resolution of 320x240;
It really is a great feature so I would apreciate if someone can bring it to our S1 too.
There is an android app that simulates that feature (videocam illusion) but it isn't as smooth as the s8000 version...
Yeah I'm pretty interested in this too. Developers should certainly look into working on stuff like increased framerate recording and manual focusing

why ace s5830i is nt capable of hd video recording even after having bcm2763?

after a bit googling i found that nokia 808 pureview uses the videocoreIV bcm2763 gpu, same used by ace s5830i !!
i wonder then why ace with an "i" is nt capable of hd video recording..??!
also, nokia n8 uses the prior generation videocoreIII bcm2727 gpu ! still it is capable of recording videos at 720p even after having a slower processer than ace 5830i !
please somebody explain to me why galaxy ace 5830i is not capable of hd video recording?
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
I'd say that it's because they put the lowest amount of effort you possibly can to make the videocore compatible with android/linux. Just by looking at their kernels you can see it was just rushed. They are pushing a lot of updates nowadays, now that they released some raspberry pi drivers they are more focused on phones.
They are working on the gpu slowly I suppose. They say they will be releasing some EGL binaries (not sources...) soon, which will improve cyanogenmod compatibility and maybe 3d graphics performance
any idea when they will be releasing source..
i heared broadcom released it for galaxy y !
thank for the reply

They released very partial sources, however, they keep saying that they will release proper sources...
Pretty much anything compatible with the galaxy y can be ported to the s5830i without much effort though, I think the rafael baugis kernel already makes use of some of the sources released
so if they ralease proper sources...what change would it make ?!
i guess we would b able to use cm 9

there is already a working cm9 for galaxy ace (galaxy y port) but the colors are switched and camera doesn't work and there is a wi-fi fix for it so its pretty much usable.

I've always wondered why people would wanna play movies with resolutions that exceed the resolution of the mobile display itself... You would get better picture quality playing a video on the device native's resolution. And of course reduce the load on the CPU saving battery....
Yup S Advance can only view what it shoots. 720P.

1080P lags horribly,720p is enough atleast here, very clear.

For who suggests to enable force gpu rendering, thanks but it doesn't work. Even restarting the phone.
For who wonder why I try to play a 1080p on s advance its why I have a friend with a samsung S II and another with samsung S III and if they send me their camera video via Bluetooth, my Samsung S advance play only audio! Ok I pay less I get less but its really so different hardware? I wonder why? Gpu, codec, a simple boolean switch.
Please someone that wonder less and know more.

any way after trying about a dozen player i finally got to play 1080p using dice player:laugh:
i played many 1080p videos with medium to high bit rates...hope this will work for you...
Ps: in dice player the videos are shown to be HW decoded but playing them will make your battery back up/charge drop like "Turkey's in thanks giving" Damn i always wanted to use that line:laugh:
Hit thanks if i helped you..and help others who are in need of it

Try BS player. Working great for me.but sometimes u will get only audio, no video, but when u try to play it again, it will play.
