I just got word this morning that LG is announcing their flagship phone sometime in September...hasn't the 4x only been out for a short time? Make me feel good about this purchase...lol.

The new Flagship packs a monster Quad-Core Krait, which is much faster than the Cortex A9 of the Tegra 3 in the 4X. Also, gapless display and a long lasting battery.
Sorry, there's really no easy way to say it. On the flipside, there's no way you could have known the new flagship is coming out. There's new phones coming out all the time, if you were to wait you will be waiting forever. Perhaps you could try selling your phone now to cut your losses. There's a possibility you could get more than you paid for it: Here in Singapore the HTC One X is available for S$616 online, yet retail outlets sell it for S$828 and people do buy it from these retail outlets.
If the video of LG is telling the truth the new CPU is about 40% stronger than the tegra 3.
But it is possible that this device will never be sold anywhere else than South Korea. (like the Optimus LTE for example)
I bought my 4X only 2 days ago, so I will await the news about the "Optimus G" and if there will be great news about it in the next 30 days (it has too look as awesome as the 4X, the price has to be acceptable, it must be sold in Germany and no stupid "features" like missing SD slot) I will send my 4X back and buy this one.
What I want to say: Wait for more news regarding this device before selling the awesome 4X (I don't think the price of the 4X will drop that much in the next weeks)

Bought mine 3 days ago and I don't think it was a mistake.
I don't need any faster chipsets to be honest, because I don't play games on my phone. So no real value added with a faster chipset for me.
The supposed Optimus G leak from a few days ago doesn't seem that great. The bezel is a lot larger than on the Optimus 4x, and the backcover is plain ugly.
And of course there is the price point. When the Optimus G finally hits the market in a few months (!), the price will be higher than the Optimus 4x's now. By the time it goes down, there will be rumors of another, faster and better device ... And then what?
We have now leaked photos of Optimus G, i think it'll be a great phone

I like that viewpoint. I'll probably be getting my 4X in the mail on Wednesday. I'm sure I'll like it, but just in case, has anyone had any experiences returning with Negri? Do they have a monster restocking fee?

Qualcomm Krait, Qualcomm Krait...**** this chip. I will wait for Quad Cores Cortex-A15 nVidia Tegra 4 Logan chip. According nVidia, it will be 50 times faster than Tegra 2.

My Crystal Ball is out of batteries, so, I can't predict the future... regret? no... if the next one becomes so "monster" making me want it so much, I just need to wait until be available for sale.
Of course that after a few weeks the price will drop, new models will be announce, etc...
If we wait for the last "fashion" to dress our-selfs, we'll end walking naked until the end of our life
This monster phone will be shown in two weeks. Wait another half a year until it finally comes out. Wait another two months until you can buy it in your country. Wait another month for the price to drop a bit. Have had the 4X HD for nearly a year then. Seems to be a good deal for me.
No, no regrets at all. HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III both have silly designs, so I love mine sexy Optimus 4X HD. In any case, my next phone will be with nVidia Tegra 4 inside, so I will have to wait till 2013 Q2 or even Q3.

This.
You can wait and wait and wait and wait, and every time you think it's time to buy a phone, where will ne rumors about a better one. The Optimus 4x brings high-end hardware for a reasonable price. So no, I don't regret buying it. Actually I am pretty happy to have swapped from my Galaxy S2 and not have chosen the Galaxy S3.
The only downside imo is the pretty small modding community. But hey, maybe that will change in a few month anyways.
Regret? not yet.
No regrets at all. Maybe when an Optimus 8X comes out this will be my next phone.
And don't worry as soon as the bootloader gets unlocked (and it will) the modding community will grow

Hi everyone,
I've got a burning question.
i'm curently the owner of a LG optimus 2x and my experiences with that phone are not that great. Only recently my phone started to work rather well due to a good custom rom based on a stock ics build. (Thanks a bunch Carburano!!)
My contract will expire soon, so I will be in the market for a new phone in about a month and I am seriously considering the optimus 4x HD, although many optimus 2x users would consider me a fool becaulse of those 2 letters on the front bezel...
If I have read well, there are currently no custom Roms available, but is that a miss with this phone?
So basically... would you, as owners, recommend your phone?
Thank you so much for your wisdom!

As there are already some threads on this topic, I recommend you to do a bit research in them. But in brief, I can tell you the following: The stock rom runs really well. Custom Roms might be availible at some time (there's a Sense port in "no phone" state). If you want a phone with removable battery and/or SD card slot, or you're looking for a Tegra phone for gaming, go for the 4X. If you don't need those, have a look at the N4 (if ou can get one), there's most development.
Whoops!

try nexus 4 or wait
Go for nexus 4 or Wait for tegra 4 phones. Those will be in february.
I'd recommend this phone if you don't need custom roms (because they may never be available, even if progress was made). It's an excellent phone, slim, powerful, with some enjoyable LG modifications. The microSD port and removable battery is a big plus.
As Shuny says, great phone, incredible screen quality ( even better than IP4S and SGS3 ) , powerful . If you want a STOCK ROM , its your phone. But , as people said, Nexus 4 or Tegra4 devices are coming.
regards.
( sorry for poor english , im brazilian )
My only gripe about this phone is the camera and heat... I haven't really tested out other quadcore phone so i don't know if they heat up easily or not, I only tested their camera and it was good.. SGS3 and SGN2....
Anyhow, MWC is around the corner so wait around for a bit and widen your choices...

I really don't like the S3... the shape, the software... the S2 was nice, but the S3, not so much... at least for me anyway...

I sold my s3 and hox and got the 4x. Well I got more money for the s3 then I paid for the 4x and same applies for the hox as well and I don't regret it. The screen in the 4x is better then the s3 no burn in or checkerboard issues like the s3 screen has. Battery in the 4x is superior to the hox and also removable battery and memory card is a big benefit that the hox don't have. The camera is the weakest on the 4x but there are ways to fix that even without root. And the 4x is faster then the hox. The tegra 3 on the 4x is better optimized. Anyway the 4x is a totally fine quard core monster. And also u can use a normal mhl cable instead buying a special one that works with the s3. So there is more benefit on having the 4x then non benefit.

Im living in Brazil . Isnt a cheap phone here, about R$ 1799,00 ( about USD$900 in a conversion ) , i think MWC brings us some new phones, like Sony Z , Nexus 4 , and many others with 2GB + quadcore in this price range.
But, I choose LG P880 vs IP4S and SGS3 , not for price, but incredible screen and performance, IMHO , better than S3 and IP.
My opinion : BUY IT !

Exactly what I think...
I'm going to sell my S3, get me a 4X and even save some money...
The 4X has everything I need... the S3 is a great phone, but it looks extremely fragile... and the home button, boy I really hate that... I was a previous owner of a Galaxy Nexus and the soft buttons are a lot better than physical buttons...
And I really think Jelly Bean and a new kernel can fix most issues the 4X has with games...

I know it , but 3 months ago, when i purchased the phone, i pay R$1799, its cheaper now, i know, but , also you know , we suffer with taxes here. In EUA and Europe , this guy can be purchased by US$ 350 - 400. So , lets return and focus ... This smartphone is a great choice.
Wow, thanks everyone! That was really all I needed to hear. I really want a removable battery and a sd card slot... so my options were limited to the O4x or the sgs3... an I really prefer the looks of the O4X and the screen.... it was just the brand that concerned me... having to wait over a year for ICS on my O2X from the announcement to a crappy release... made me worry!

The price here in Brazil is a small difference between them, and then what should I choose?

Let's make a small comparision here. ( this is only my opinion)
Advantages of the 4X HD:
+ better screen
+ I prefer the design of the O4X than the S3
+ Cheaper
Advantages of the S3
+ Battery is better
+ More software updates and custom ROMs
That's what i think. Hope that will help you.

A little addition to it:
4X HD:
+Games lags a lot even of tegra.
+Tegra gives more graphics.
+Loud speaker sound isn't much loud.
+Old 40 nm process, means high heat production.
+Optimus UI 3.0.
+Better battery saving on music play only.

Agreed.
IMO, it all depends on what you can afford and what you liked/disliked in the LG.
Quality-wise, I'd say it's LG 4x < Samsung S3 < LG Optimus G. So, if you can afford the S3 and not the Optimus G go for the S3, if you can afford either, go for the Optimus G.
Although if you have a penchant for the LG form factor as I do, you'll save a bit (and/or wait till the Optimus G's price goes down a bit) and forget about the S3.
That said, it's all about the experience so, if you can go to a store and try the S3 and the Optimus G

Man I am from Brazil too, if you can save a little more (I don't know if you are able) I would get a Xperia ZQ.
But if we compare only both of the fones (OX4 and SIII)
I just had the same question at the end i've chosed OX4, they are saying that SIII has a bad quality gorilla glass in Brazil. I don't know for sure.
Design of OX4 is way better than SIII in my opinion and about the price tag, I've found many prices of SIII the lowest was about R$ 1500.
If you look you can find OX4 for R$ 999 at red store and 1.299 where i bought mine at extra supermarket site.
I hope I helped you. :good:

A friend of mine was sitting ON THE GROUND and his S3 fell out of his pocket and the screen shattered with spider web cracks. That fall must have been less than a foot. It's crazy. So yeah I'd be wary of the S3's shatter resistance is what I'm saying. Also the same friend has had to send away the phone for software-related repairs twice now. He's not a modder, his phone isn't even rooted, all the issues he's had are stock related.

..not completely sure where that comes from. The 4x battery has higher mAh capacity, the sio+ solution is still organic, but better than the usual lithium ion batteries for retaining the charge, standby, etc. Tegra3 with a normal setup also demonstrably gives you an hour extra over the qualcomm chipsets on gaming. It trounches anything else on medium loads/movie playback for any neon/arm7 codec. Meanwhile the helper core can run music playback, small background tasks, and so on, on a power-draw similar to the second iphone, or the previous arm5 setups with the "graphics card module" disconnected.
Probably the problem is that LG put in a few background tasks, like the logger, and the today app - that actually prevent the phone from dropping to idle, while stealing cycles while running on full burn. This hasn't really been fixed, and you will have massively higher power-draw than you can have with just the standard setup.
Technically, though.. and if you just remove those apps.. it's undeniably the most power-efficient as well as most powerful chipset out there. And you notice it when you play around with the phone. For example if you do some picture editing, drawing with complex brushes, that sort of thing.. The tegra3 chipset here is extremely well designed, without exceeding the power-draw of an arm5 single-core setup.. And this is kind of a feat, so.. you know.. You get a lot for the money here - if it works as intended, obviously.... LG could have set this up a bit more carefully..
How many other phones with an ips display and a replacable battery and a memory card slot is there on the market, anyway..?
Hey People
Before i get pinned down for this being the wrong forum to ask this question, I still ask it, because here are in my opinion the best people.
My LG 4 x HD, has broken the glass under a small drop to the floor, so i need a new phone. And i have looked at LG Nexus 5 and LG G2
I am leaning towards the Nexus and the price is almost the same, but which one will you prefer and why ?
Kindly
Morten
I think this thread will be closed but anyway, if you don't need any update and can afford more money, go for g2. It has a better camera+better battery+better build quality in my eye. Choose nexus only if u want updates+developments and of course, if u r a freaking aosp guy

if u live outside of usa, the price differences are less dramatic so u can go 4 the g2
he is better in many small ways from the nexus 5.
Well if you looking in long term investment then nexus 5 since not that long ago our beloved lg 4x hd was lg flag ship and now i dont even think they know it exist.Better hardwer on g2 yes but without software to run it it is useless.

Hey
Thank you for all the comments, i will go and buy the Nexus since it is slightly cheaper and properly better serviced (updated) then the G2 i have always preferred LG since they are a small company in Denmark and therefore fairly cheap compared to others. Also i do not think they as a loaded with bloatware as ex HTC. but now there's a Nexus i just have to try it and it has corilla class !
Sincerly.
