Am I Screwed? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was messing around in CWM touch. In the Storage and Mounts directory..
I've done this before , (format /sdcard)..but this time I went a step further and did (format /data) AND also
(format /data and /data/media) commands. I might have even hit the Format /system command .
Now I'm stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant screen, with the red text on the bottom..and it wont go no further...i just wanted to shine my sd card..
And because I have formated my SD card, there is nothing on it so no back up now... I'm on the Viperone rom..and by formating system i think i wiped the device :S..i really dont know..man.
So i tried opening an ADB shell to see if i could push the Viperone zip from my pc direcctly..but adb doesn't recocgnize the device..
I'm Unlocked bootloader
S-Off
SuperCid- 11111111

Sounds like you’ve got nothing left. Reflash your rom on your super shiny phone.

My device is bricked, like really is bricked..
I can boot into boot loader but what good is that if my PC is saying unknown usb device..

Not the problem, I can boot into recovery but my phone doesnt start up.
I cant place nothing on the sd card to flash, and ADB SHELL isnt recognizing my device..
so i have to reflash a stock carrier right? by running an RUU exe?
which one can i Use for a M7_UL i think the closest one to a bell canada ruu would be ATT?
Wait can't I just PUSH the zip. to my sdcard then run the zip from clockwork??

Your good to sideload a rom in recovery
Put the rom zip in the folder you are running your cmd commands from
OR use adb push with the rom in the same folder
adb push rom.zip /data/media/0/
---------- Post added at 08:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------
You don't need to open an AD shell to push the rom

OK, this time I added the .ZIP to the end of the file.
Now its showing just a (-) blinking.. never returned a message.. i'll wait for a bit
then i'll try pushing it to the /sdcard/ and see what happens then.
After the blinking - stopped it returned this mesage
failed to copy ViperOne..zip) to data/media/0/': Is a directory
trying again..

If you can't get it to work try what I said about uninstalling the HTC stuff and installing one of these if we can get you recognized ih bootloader we can flash twrp and you can sideload the rom

[Q] Can't mount in recovery phone in bootloop

I tried to load the advanced menu mod and the phone wont go past the startup screen. I can get into TWRP but I don't know how to get a rom to the SD card when it wont mount. Funny, I've been doing the ROM thing for 4 years now and have never used ABD so I don't know how that works or if that's what I need........can someone please point me in the right direction for getting a ROM on my phone so I can flash in TWRP?

Bootloader was unlocked long ago via HTC Dev. All-in-one wasn't out when I got the phone ...... I just downloaded that, but when I try to ABD sideload it opens up a CMD prompt that says C:\Users\myname\desktop\HTC is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Also when I enable ABD sideload in TWRP on my phone it hangs at "Starting ABD sideload feature..." and never does anything.
Try push instead of sideload

Type "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/ROM.zip" replacing ROM with the EXACT name of the ROM file and including the .zip piece on both ends.

Download these files: http://d-h.st/RvD - call the unzipped folder with the four files 'android' or something and put it somewhere, either directly on your c:\ drive or on your desktop
Download a rom and put it in the folder along with those files you download
Select 'install zip from sideload' in recovery on your phone
Hold Shift and right-click on the folder and select 'Open Command Window Here'
Command:
adb sideload name_of_rom.zip
once it reaches 100% it should begin to install on your phone automatically.
Or you could
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
this will put the rom on your sdcard and you will need to flash it normally. (you don't select 'install zip from sideload' for this)

Ok let's make this easier. Go to where your ADB/fastboot files are, shift right click on empty space and select Open Command Window Here. Then type push name_of_rom.zip/sdcard/
name_of_rom.zip should be changed to whatever file name your ROM is that you want to install. If sdcard doesn't work, try /data/media

Are you right clicking on the folder and open command window here?
Reboot your computer...
Shift+right-click, Open command window from folder
Go into fastboot in your bootloader and type
fastboot devices
If your device appears then go into recovery and type
adb devices
If your devices doesn't appear then there's something wrong with your drivers/adb files or folder
If it's found then just do a push or sideload...
The only thing I can think if it doesn't work is buy a usb otg cable and put the ROM onto a usb and flash it through TWRP that way.

USB not showing up in cwm recovery

My phone recently lost its ROM, and is now stuck on the 'HTC quietly beautiful screen', i did manage to get it into clock work mode recovery and have a backup of my old rom on a usb, however, when i plug in the USB before starting the phone it doesn't show up, meaning i cannot restore. Please help! Any help or feedback is much appreciated! :good:
When you're in recovery, you have to use the command:
Code:
adb devices
for see your phone.
After use adb command like push or sideload for put a rom into the phone

That's why I have parallels!
I had this problem the other day and I fixed it by going to data/media in recovery and installing an old Rom that was downloaded. I could then restore afterwards.

Do you have the folder containing the adb and fastboot files on your Desktop? And do you have HTC Sync installed? It will load the proper drivers, even though I heard it may not be necessary anyway.
This method worked for me on my Mac. It is very simple using Terminal.
You don't actually have to download the whole SDK, just download the file attached in the threat, which is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1396782&d=1350078941
Place it on your Desktop, and follow the instructions. After ADB successfully lists your device, move the ROM file to your android folder and use the following command: adb sideload rom.zip of course replacing 'rom.zip' with whatever your rom's name is. You can also use adb push if you want to move your Nandroid backup to your device, but I am not sure where it will be located on the device itself afterwards.
Oh and you should be in TWRP > Advanced > ADB Sideload mode if you want to sideload the ROM. I am not sure how it works on CWM but it should be the same way.

"EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO STOP GUIDE HERE. LIKE REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point you will be able to flash most ROMs. The exceptions are the one that require S-OFF (the ROM requirements in the thread will state so). Also you will have to flash the boot.img manually
To do this download your select ROM. Extract the boot.img to where you have the fastboot.exe, adb.exe, and AdbWinApi.dll (you should have gotten these 3 files when you unlocked the bootloader). Then open the command window (shift, right click, open command window here) and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
the boot.img can be renamed to whatever you would like. I keep all my boot images and the fastboot.exe, adb.exe, and AdbWinApi.dll in 1 folder because i download a lot of ROMs. If you do rename the boot.img, i suggest renaming it to the name of the ROM its for. When you type in the fastboot command, just remember to put the .img at the end. This is necessary or it will not work.
If you want to gain S-OFF continue through the guide.
Is this what you want to know"
If i should to that what room are then talking about (it is ex Lacoste that i want to have)

The guide says to flash the superuser zip in recovery... Let's start with that first.
As to your dialer not working, reflash the ROM if its custom. If its stock, don't bother with it and just flash a custom ROM later.

you use adb from your adb / fastboot folder
TWRP / Advanced / Sideload
From PC adb /fastboot folder
you use
adb sideload name_of_rom.zip
or
just have TWRP loaded on the first screen and
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
both ways the name_of_rom.zip needs to be in the same folder as adb / fastboot
1) Go back into recovery (power on while holding vol-, then select recovery). Plug in to PC and use "adb push <rom>.zip \sdcard\(rom).zip. Flash.
2) ADB Sideload (don't know how to use personally).
3) Go back into recovery and plug in a USB flash stick (either an OTG flash that will plug right in, or a microUSB-to-FemaleUSB cable and any USB flash stick or hdd).
I don't understand why people are so in love with microSD, when hardly anyone spends the cash on a 64gb card so the built in 32gb is just fine. If you need removable media, you have it in a $1.99 otg cable and any flash stick (or even a 3tb usb-hdd).

Also tried starting adb sideload, but it just gets stuck at Starting ADB sideload feature. left it for up to 30 mins and nothing...
EDIT: also tried updating TWRP recovery. now I have 2.7.0.0 and I still have the same problems...

Yeah adb will not list any devices as USB Debugging needs to be enabled and as you dont have a OS installed you won't be able to enable it. Luckily you have the latest version if twrp install so you can use adb sideload from twrp, I think it's in the advanced tab. Start up adb sideload and make sure your Rom.zip file is in the adb folder on your PC and then type, adb sideload <name of Rom>.zip, and the sideload will copy zip file over abd install for you.

a bit misleading it is, it wont come up with a msg started or something (in other words your waiting for nothing, its already running after the starting msg). Plug your phone in and start the adb sideload in cmd. Of course your system must recognize your phone else your will error out with no device found.

aaah, so I don't have to wait for it to "start". OK then, I'll try this.
When I plug in the phone, Windows makes the "New device" sound, so I guess it does recognise it.
so it's adb sideload ....zip ?

ok, booted to recovery > Advanced > ADB Sideload > now it ways "Starting ADB sideload feature..."
Plugged in the device, started cmd from adb folder. Doing adb devices here returns no devices...
Tried all USB ports, still none...

After you have started the sideloader server in twrp, just type adb sideload <name of rom>.zip and it will start sending the file. Dont bother trying to search for the device (adb device) as sideloader only understand the above command

doing just that:
start in recovery> start adb sideload (saying "starting adb sideload feature...") > plugged in (windows new device sound) > cmd with admin > navigate to sdk/platform-tools/ > and now I do the following command:
Code:
adb sideload filename.zip
and I get:
error: device not found

Whooo this worked!! Finally!!!
So I uninstalled all HTC stuff I had installed (drivers, sync manager, everything), then installed the stuff in the link.
Plugged in the HTC One in sideload mode and did
Code:
adb sideload filename.zip
and it worked!! Thanks again mate!

[Q] Help, htc one m7 device bricked, any way out?

Hello guys,
I have an htc one m7. I stupidly wiped system partition beforehand and downloaded an older ruu in order to get my htc one in a clean stock condition. Unfortunately, not only can I not boot up the system of the phone, I can't download anything in twrp (also tried cwm) because nothing mounts from the phone, including mtp. I still have the bootloader and recovery options .Here's what steps I tried:
fastboot rom pushing-FAIL
adb sideloading-worked to 100%, but then I get a status protocol error from twrp
adb pushing- did not help(don't know why, nothing shown in cmd)
drivers install sometimes but most of the time say not installed.
What I may try-
usb otg, but don't know if it will work if nothing mounts on my phone from twrp?
another computer.
I'm really worried that I may have converted my phone into an expensive paperweight. Is this a hard brick? How can I get out of this? Thanks so much!

Your command prompt will be unresponsive when using adb push. When it become responsive again, your file is pushed.
Code:
adb push your_rom.zip /sdcard

You can not mount your phone like a storage device on your computer when it is booted in recovery. When you mount something in recovery, you mount it so the recovery can access it, not the computer. Use adb push, adb sideload or usb otg.

Check usb cable, usb ports and make sure to use 2.0 usb directly on your computer (not using an external usb hub).

Make sure your drivers are correctly installed (refer to the FAQ sticky thread)

Hi Alray,
Thanks for the post! you were quite helpful. Ok, I successfully pushed a rom through adb and when I try to install it says cannot mount/data. What can I do now to fix this issue?

in twrp go to wipe and then format data. push the rom again and flash it.
