I'm sure this must exist, but I haven't been able to locate a good solution yet. On my N7, I just have one home screen with a full screen Beautiful Widgets widget providing the information I want. Then, along my dock, I have folders that are sorted by category (messaging, news, movies, music, books, etc.).
Most of the high-quality icon packs and themes mostly just create icons for apps, not for categories. Of course, I can use an app icon to represent a category, and this is what I usually end up doing. But the little bit of OCD in me is never satisfied with this as a solution. I would love some high-quality icons that are more generic and representative of categories. Does anyone have anything they've found that they really like?

I've searched the 'net, I've looked at every crappy icon pack in the market, and I absolutely cannot find an icon pack that I am satisfied with.
Basically what I'm looking for are solid (non-transparent) versions of the LauncherPro icons, or icons that are identical (one solid color with no transparency or shadowing) so that I can edit them to my liking.
I've got decent photoshopping skills, but I've tried goofing around with the LauncherPro icons to no avail, I can't get them looking quite right.
Recommendations would be MUCH appreciated!
I assume you mean the application icons, in the applications list? Are you able to provide a screenshot of one you tried to edit (before or after)?

Sorry, I lost track and didn't subscribe. I'm just talking about the stock Launcher Pro Dock icons, sort of.

See the ones at the bottom? Like that, basically.
I See What You Mean.
Someone should release a vector version of those icons. :/
Wrong post. I'm dumb.
I know what you mean. I always find great icons, but they don't look right in the dock. They're made too small and look bad.
Here you go: http://www.iconfinder.com/browse
There are currently 760 full icon sets in there as I type this, all free, some for even commercial use, which allow you to download in .png or .ico format. You can even search for individual replacements for icons as well.
Happy hunting!

Is there an extra large clock/calendar widget (perhaps similar to the HTC)? I would like to use my gtablet in its dock, in landscape with the widget taking up the full screen rather than one corner (which is the biggest I can find now)
The one that I know that would do that is a paid app. It is called beautiful widgets. I paid for it on my phone and transferred it over to the gtablet. I will get some pictures of it in the morning. It is definately worth the money. You can customize so much with it that it makes the htc one look amateur.
Sent from my Froyo Leak...thanks Kaos \00/
Many thanks,
The clocks are excellent and scalable to suit my needs. However, the weather icons (and there are lots of them) are very small and not scalable. I'll look around to see if extra large weather icons exist!
I really liked the stock tapntap one that came on the tab.
Is the apk for that one around? Can't seem to find it.
I'd like to see the stock one also
Same here, does anyone have it or know were we can get it
I'd be interested in that apk too
We (myself and energizerpanda) are proud to present you an icon pack (150 x 150 px) based on Symbian Anna. Some of the icons were taken from a system dump, and some of them were self-made.
The current pack has several icons, but feel free to post which icons do you miss, and we will try to create them.
Changelog:
05/07/11 - First release !
17/07/11 - Added icons for: Evernote, eBook Reader, Winamp, Cozi, Pocket Informant, Waze, Folder Organizer

Looks great, gonna check them out when I get home from work!
Very nice icon pack! I searched the theme you based it on & downloaded those as well. Going through them to see which I'd use normally & which more important (to me) ones are missing.
Going to use some generics now (generic Twitter instead of Plume), but can you provide icons for:
eBook Reader (I use 3 readers, so anything you'd like for now)
Cozi (attaching image)
Pocket Informant
Waze
Since I don't see good generics for them. Very happy to add these to my icon collection since I tend to change icons every few months!
Edit: Regarding attachments, please use the the 3 little loops tings on Cozi (not the text), and likewise the little car for Waze. Actually, for Waze, may be better modeling off the icon I see on the appbrain page (http://www.appbrain.com/app/waze:-community-gps-navigation/com.waze)
We will update the pack as soon as they're done.
Sorry but how do I install these?
Copy the icons to your phone and download Desktop Visualizer from the market.
Thanks for sharing
Here are the requested icons by polstein.
I tested them on my phone and they look fine.
For the moment I can't add them to the pack but you will get them soon enough!
How can i resize them to 72x72(HDPI) without losing its quality ?

A number of different ways. Most common as mentioned is Desktop Visualizer. That's a widget that lets you pick an app/shortcut & use a custom icon. It also has an advantage that you can have it point to an generically named icon - then you can replace the icon, reboot & DV will show the new image. Very useful if you change icons every couple of months for fun!
(also why you might see me on several threads requesting the same icons over & over again
An easier way might be to use an app called Folder Organizer, which also allows you to change icons & text labels.
Advanced people can modify the apk of the install & change the icon, but has some drawbacks that go along with it. But it's also the only way I know of to change an icon everywhere (like in recent apps lists).

I see the new icons I asked for, they look very nice. I especially like the textured background on Informant. How many icons did you want to crank out? I always hate overloading designers, but if you're willing I'll keep handing out requests!
Keep on requesting. Don't forget to thank energizerpanda for his hard work. I am only with the organization and researching.

Updated with new icons. Check first post for download links.
Looking good, downloading now!
can someone please make an lp pack out of these?
thanks for the hard work, always loved the anna icons
@cavihit - We're working on making a LauncherPro pack but we have to add more icons.
Latest icons:
Please help me with your opinion about these icons because I need to know if I can add them to the pack.
Icons look good! So far the only one I'm not thrilled with is Waze (more because of their cartoony look that doesn't match the rest of the set).
Something I noticed last night when I replaced some of the generic icons in favor of the correct app icon: Some of the original generics look better anyway!
F'instance, I was using the 'carhome' icon instead of Waze, but I think I'm switching back to carhome.
Another example is generic Music vs Winamp (currently on Winamp). Still another is Calendar vs Informant (currently using Calendar!)
Now in a couple cases I needed the specific app (like Cozi, and there wasn't an eBook one).
Of course, best of all worlds for me is to have options & change them when the mood strikes
I'm making every icon for its specific app. (If you use the Calendar app then you should use the generic icon found in the pack)
I hope you all understand that I try to create icons that are not in the pack and not to replace the generic icons. (Only if requested)
@polstein - Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm gonna post new icons when finished so please test them and reply!
I know this probably makes me something of an outlier, but I've discovered playing around with different apps and icon themes on my NST, I actually really like the look of the default B&N app icons - they've got a really nice minimalism to them that even my favorite minimalist icon themes don't. So I decided I'd add to the set, and see if anyone else had ideas/requests for what to add. Current plans:
-redraws of the existing ones (as most are buried in the apps and can't be used elsewhere - also, they look awful on upscale)
-mail icon
-internet icon
-chat-bubble icon
-Android market icon
-filesystem icon
-terminal icon

I agree that the nook icons are better but I lack the skills to make similar ones for my apps.
Well, this is what I have on my launcher 7 (which I find is perfect for an e-ink screen with some tweaking).
Everything else you pretty much covered.
-Google news feed
-PDF reader
-A tools folder filled with useful tools
Great idea by the way. Thanks!

I'll see what I can do! Swapping to Launcher 7 on my NST is actually what inspired it - I wanted to use the default Library app icon but oh god, it looks so awful on a launcher tile because of how small the original image is.
I'm definitely interested in this!
I use perfectviewer and mango if you want any more ideas for icons.
I would say any general manga/comic looking icon would work.
Tapet is incredible. It automatically generates random wallpapers based on "patterns" (the overall style for each wallpaper). It retains the instructions to re-generate each wallpaper, and makes it easy to save and share these images. As far as I can tell the developer has no issue with sharing these. These aren't the best, they're simply my favorite among the 250 most recently generated. I also have it set to show some patterns much more than others, and I've turned off quite a few patterns. It can do SO much more than this. Feel free to dump your own!
Enjoy!
EDIT: I hope this is the most appropriate forum. These are made specifically for the Nexus 6P.
Very nice. Thank you
thns
nice work
those are killer wallpapers brahh!! thanks for sharing
Tapet is one of the best apps I have found in a long time. Coolest thing is that you don't have to download anything as its all "generated" but the beauty is the use of shapes and shadows to make it look good. I ended up buying the paid version just to show my appreciation to the developer for his idea and work. You can setup pre-defined interval to change wallpapers automatically or by placing a tiny (1x1) widget on your home screen to trigger randomize wallpaper generation.
Any ways, here are some of my favorites. Hope you like them.
