Hey,
I'm a bit of a long time lurker on the xda forums but I'm really hoping someone can help me with this.
I'm trying to connect my modded and rooted Kindle Fire HD 7 (with Cyanogenmod installed, following this post) to my Windows 7 laptop via an Ad-hoc wi-fi network but the network name isn't showing in the list of available networks. Anyone got any ideas on how to get this to work?
I've tried following the instructions in this thread but the wifi on my kindle fire wouldn't start up after I installed the patched file.

i have viewed many ways to root the kindle fire hd 7", and tried many processes, but somethings not working right. i have the adb drivers installed (i think, windows 7 tells me it is installed) but i cant see my device when i type adb devices in cmd. i also am not very experienced working in cmd, so i might be doing something wrong there. i have rooted the kindle fire about a year ago, but this one's giving me trouble for some reason. can anyone help me solve this issue?
Hello everyone,
I'm new here, so I do excuse myself in advance if I should get something wrong.
I would like to know if it is possible to get the Kindle Fire HD 7'' to work as an MSC device (it usually works as a MTP one and there seems to be
no option to be selectioned) because I lost some data after unregistering it.
Thanks.
Hello Guys!
I currently own a Kindle Fire 7" HD 7.4.6(Rooted) but I have a little problem getting my kindle to show up on 'My Computer' (Trying to transfer some music to my device) I have looked everywhere for this one specific question that I cant find an answer to hopefully it could be solved here... Anyways before my device was rooted Windows couldn't detect the device plugged in but here is the confusing part after I found out about rooting, I went on to try to do it and I managed to successfully root the kindle (following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351201) installed the ADB drivers and yes "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31" program did detect my Kindle and rooted it which is weird because I mean Windows couldnt detect my kindle but that program did? I can plug in my kindle and it is detected as an ADB and even shows up in my device manager, but my question is, how do I get my kindle to be recognized so I can manage it (i.e. adding music/pictures) Another weird thing is that yes my kindle is detected but you know the sound that Windows makes when you plug something in via USB? Well when I plug in my kindle that sound is different I dont know if it has anything to do with this problem... Well that is my question hopefully someone will come to save the day!
Is the kindle listed under portable devices in the device manager?

Plug your Kindle Fire HD in to USB port. Go to your device management. Look for the driver that is being detected right now. Right click on it and click and choose properties. Click to uninstall the driver. Now unplug the KFHD and plug it back in. Let the driver install. This should fix it. Restarting your computer after uninstalling the driver might be tried as well. removing the root hubs is sometimes necessary as well.
Hey guys ive been having trouble with my Kindle HD 7 2nd gen for the past couple of days, ive owned it for a few years and decided it was time to root it and put a proper android OS on it, but ever since i rooted it it will no longer show up in My Computer to let me transfer files to complete the android os install. Before i rooted it transferring files was a cinch. Im running WIndows 7 Home on this comp, i tried connecting to to the Windows 8 pc downstairs and still nothing. The Kindle does still show up as recognized in Devices and Printers. Also the current system version of the kindle is 7.5.1 Update, i tried my sister's Kindle and it connected fine.
Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.
Having spent two days on this I must ask for help please. I'm an Android novice.
Kindle FireHD 7" stuck on animated white and orange Fire HD splash screen.
I have purchased a Fastboot cable and it boots into, and is recognised in, Fastboot.
It's seen in Windows 7 Device Manager as Kindle Fire - ADB Composite device.
All seems OK, but here's the problem:
I can't get it to be recognised by ADB - 'No Device Detected'
The files that I think I need are in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
however the site hosting the files is defunct and I can't find them anywhere!
I've managed once or twice to get it to 'Kindle is upgrading - Starting Applications' but it just sits there for hours. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware fault?
Could anyone provide me with the files in that thread above and a few pointers please?
Many thanks
What version of the kindle do you have?

Kindle Fire HD 7" 2012 (I think) The one with the shiny stripe across the back
If I remember correctly, adb will not recognize your device when you are connected to fastboot. The only commands you can use are the fastboot commands.
