Hello,
I'm wondering if the Galaxy S III Mini supports SDXC, and then if not would it be possible for it to be added into a ROM? I remember when the migration happened to SDHC custom roms were being released to allow original SD cards to use the larger SDHC cards.
Another question is, as Samsung seemed to have removed the ability to move data onto the SD card, I'm going to have to go about it the difficult way. I've looked into to Link2SD (I wonder if the Galaxy Mini supports ext2 & ext 3) but I'm not sure it's the right choice and I don't want to go through the hassle of changing partitions on my SD card. The phone is rooted and I can modify the paritions if needed, but I want to be sure that it will work.
So my questions are:
Does the Galaxy S 3 Mini support SDXC? If not can it be added with a custom rom?
Do most roms contain support for ext2 and ext3?
Finally, what is the best app to use to transfer my applications onto the SD card.
Any advice will be much appreciated
EDIT: I forgot to ask but does the S3 Mini support microSD cards with UHS speeds?

Hi all,
Soon receiving a microSD for my Samsung Galaxy S. What is the best way to format this? Simply stick it in the phone and click 'yes' when being asked about it?
Or should I pre-format the microSD before sticking it in the phone, so I can use another/better filesystem than whatever the phone would default to?
If so: Which filesystems are supported (for a 16GB microSD), and which one would be the best one?

I formatted mine with fat32 file system, works a treat and never had any problems.
I was wondering if I can format my SD card with NTFS ? I would like to place some >4GB files on it... Also, how would this affect performance ?

if it works that will solve a lot of headaches from the FAT32 restrictions
I have bought a 32Gb MicroSD card for my Mini, I only have 30Mb of internal memory left, can i use part of the MicroSd card as Internal memory, i found a howto but have since unfound it
I have installed Aps2SD and moved most of my Apps to the card. But there is a lot of stuff that it wont let me move.

You should partition your sdcard through CWM. After that, you have to move apps to sdcard.
Also, make sure you have higher class sd card, otherwise it may lag.
U can also use link 2 SD app to link apps to SD
Yo can also create partition using mini tool partition wizard...
Or u can also use s2e on custom rom..

WOW. So Galaxy mini supports 32GB sd cards?
I went to a store and asked for a 8GB sd card but they said that the phone doesnt support it and it will not work. Maximum was 4GB they said.
Damn, I should go and buy a 8GB sd card. But why would you need a 32GB SDCard for Galaxy Mini. It will make your phone so laggy and it will take years to 'Media Scan" to complete.
Cheers anyways.

I have a Galaxy Ace 2(GT-I8160), and remember when I was trying new roms, a few of them offered a patch, that was switching the internal USB memory(where everything goes) with the External SD card(which is usable only for music, photos and downloads). Now a friend of mine has the same issues that the memory gets filled in magical way and there is nothing left to do except maybe to restore factory defaults(which is annoying IMO). So I am asking is there any sort of trick which could be used to achieve the same result, and use the 8gig SD card as a internal memory?
The phone is Samsung Galaxy Ace (Three UK) more info could be provided later today.
The best scenario is without flashing, rooting is an option, but not recommended(my friend is a bit stuck on technology ) I would appreciate if the procedure does not require manual partitioning of the SD Card and as a must, not to require a ROM.
This is my first post on the XDA, so don't get hard on me.
my friend:
im sry but yes you have to do partition from the recovery then use one of the partition apps like : link2sd or s2e or other partiton scripts
edit : here is a thread that tell you how http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477996

I used S2E with an EXT3 partition of 2GB and it worked well.
buddy swapping kills memory card
so do not try it
my sandisk 16 gb class 10 sd card died in this
I don't know whether this question has already been asked here but since I'm a newbie and this Droid 4 is my only Android phone (all others are Windows Phones), I'd like to ask this one:
I performed the partition of my phone's memory and split it 50/50 so that I could boot into the stock ROM if something would go wrong with CM11 updates. Not the wisest move since I'm not using that stock ROM at all
OK, the memory of my phone (where I'm running CM11) is running out so therefore I'd need to know:
1) Is there a way to modify the partition afterwards without losing any information from the memory of my phone?
2) Is there a way to move apps from phone's internal memory and SD card (a.k.a. sd card 0) to an external SD card (a.k.a. sd card 1)? I have 64Gb micro SD where I could move lots of stuff if I'd only know how.
And my apologies if this question has already been asked here.
try foldermount from playstore...
I'm fully aware of that app but it's not free.
Any other choices???
well i can only recommend Foldermount since im using it myself and the basic features are free and satisfy my needs fully.
but hey, the full version costs only ~2 dollars or so...
Hello there, I've recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and I plan to share it with my family.
I've also bought a SD card with it, but it seems I'm missing a really important feature: any user can have access to the same SD card single partition. So, if I take a picture with User #1, and I store it in SD's DCIM folder, User #2 would still see it, since it appears that the SD card access is free for everyone.
I come from a Lenovo Tab M1 that supported multi partitions for SD card, so that each time every user had access to its files only.
Is it possible to have such a feature on my S8 Tab too? I've already set SD encryption but it only works if I use the SD card by another device. Am I missing something?
