Currently I am using stock Ice Cream Sandwich with hardcore kernel, and it is rooted.
Is it safe to upgrade to stock Jelly Bean via my phone without using Odin to flash?
Will my phone encounter any problem since my phone was rooted previously?
Thank you.
Install this first. (I did) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
Then a downloaded stock rom.
Btw.. you donĀ“t want root?
Can I just flash to stock Jelly Bean using PC Odin?
I am unsure hardcore ICS kernel is safe to flash over to Jelly Bean from ICS using PC Odin?
kyiori, going by the current system status of your device, it is rooted and has a custom kernel flashed on to it.
:good:
My suggestion would be to get Mobile ODIN Pro from the Google Play Store, and use this app to flash a stock Jelly Bean firmware along with a custom Jelly Bean kernel such as SpeedMod K5. Flashing via Mobile ODIN Pro neither increases the binary counter, nor displays the dreadful yellow triangle.

There is no safe kernel for official ICS apart from the one that came with it. If you root it using CF root then there are chances of bricking when you use the recovery for some flashing or when doing I/O jobs like deleting large files.
So be on the stock ICS with the stock kernel. If not then you can check the guide in my signature. Thanks to dr ketan for it.
Or you can go ahead and check the CM9 or Asylum or MIUI roms which are based on safe kernels if you really want ICS with all safe options!!
Your choice your device
Hey there my partner has bought herself a gt-i9000 still running eclair. Being a flashaholic myself I though I'd root and flash a more updated and smoother ROM for her, but alas searching around I cannot for the life of me find the right CF root kernel.
If anyone could point me in the right direction for the CF root and also a stable ROM ICS or JB preffered would be great. Phone details below.
Gt-i9000
2.1 update-1 (eclair)
Baseband xxxJG3
Thanks in advance

Seems like there is no CF-Root for Eclaire. I would suggest to update to the latest version through Kies or take a ROM from here and flash with Odin. As you will flash ICS/JB anyway, it doesn't matter which one you choose.
Thanks so my options are update via kies then cf-root and flash ICS/jb or flash newer firmware ROM then cf-root flash ICS/jb?
Sorry I've never used kies to update and I've always been able to flash a cf-root kernel with updating...

Exactly. With Kies you will get at least 2.3.3, maybe even 2.3.6. Note that the kernel hasn't changed since JW4 (2.3.6), so if you flash JW5 or later, you can use CF-Root for JW4.
Hi everybody,
Is it possible to flash from stock gingerbread with corn kernel to LANIGHT jelly bean through clockword mode recovery, or do I have to update my captivate to a different rom before flashing? Thanks in advance

Yes, as long as you follow the proper steps listed in rom thread.
Hi Guys,
Hey i was testing many Jb roms such as ultimate JB and rocket rom.
Now since i noticed that JB had just a battery back up of one day I want to revert back to my good old ICS 4.0.4.
I have downloaded mobile Odin pro. I just wanted to know , if I flash ICS 4.0.4 for my country (taken from sammobile) will i be able to unroot and claim warranty / or be able to revert to stock samsung ICS and get my samsung software updates as usual ?
It would be really nice if someone could help me on this .
thanks in advance.

as Shyam replied earlier, yes you can do with PC Odin.
Depends on your purpose. Are you still going to use it for your personal use ? or are you going to sell back to Samsung ?
If you are going to sell back to samsung / claim for warranty (if your current state need any claim of it).
If you are going to sell back to Samsung / claim your warranty, better you just flash back original firmware (can be downloaded from samfirmware.com) with PC Odin. You should need around 5 minutes (plus-minus) to flash it back.
By doing this, you will loose your root, get original firmware (ROM), with original (stock) kernel. Once you are on pure stock kernel, please do not do any wipe data, as I believe you know the consequences.
But if you want to keep root (and use it for personnal), you can use Mobile ODIN. But you have to check first which version is running on JB rom, since according to you, you are now on JB custom rom. My understanding, earlier mobile ODIN doesn't work on JB rom.
If you don't want the hassle of doing so, Just :
Flash back original firmware (download from samfirmware.com), with PC Odin
Once boot up on ICS, go to stock recovery (Vol UP+Power+Home), flash Philz Kernel. (you will get root + CWM). You can refer to Philz thread, and download his correct kernel for your ICS built number.
Good Luck!

Hello everyone, i am new in the forum. I want to install the new paranoid 3.5 on my n7000 with stock JB rom (N7000XXSLZ). My question is if i can flash the hydracore kernel v7 using directly PC Odin without risk hard brick or yellow triangle. Then my idea is to flash the paranoid rom from CWM how can i proceed?
Tanks to all
Check if hydracore kernel can be flashed on JB ROMs on the thread of the kernel. If it is compatible with stock JB ROMs you can safely flash it without any risks. After that you enter the recovery and install the .zip file of PA 3.5
