Engadget Review - Battery Life.

So according to the Engadget:
In their screen rundown test, the phone lasts a measly 5 hours and 18 minutes (3 minutes longer than the Galaxy Nexus, which by default has a much smaller batter).
The Optimus G on ATT lasted 8 hours 43 minutes.
Seriously Google, W T F

People seem to believe there's something wrong with the review units or the final software/kernal hasn't been pushed to the units yet.
I don't think its possible. Check this. HTC One S only has 1650 mah battery(450mah lower than n4) and uses snapdragon s4(not pro). If htc one s can get 8.30 hours of video showing with the 1650 mah. I'm sure we can get more than 10 hours with 2150 mah. And I don't think its related to core number, if 2 core is enough to show video, n4 will shut down cpu2 cpu3 and will only use cpu0 and cpu1.
Don't look at the mah. They don't mean anything. Look at iPhone 5 with only 1440 mAh. That device outclasses every device in battery and performance.
Its been stated in multiple reviews that Google told each respective reviewer that the OS was not final. It will be, before the device goes on sale. I take all these reviews with a grain of salt.
Five hours is A LOT, what do you expect? My Sensation has 2hours screentime right now...

The One S also had a smaller screen. The more apt comparison would be the AT&T HTC One X/L.

Uh I expected better than what the Optimus G gets? Considering this is pure android, so less bloatware? That's what I expect.
mAh is not everything, the quality of the cells are more important. Thats why these uber 2500mAh batteries on ebay are not much better than stock
Yeah, mah is useless without knowing the voltage of the battery. whr is the only thing that matters.
It's pre-release software too.
Are you sure about that? Now I find a lot of people saying that about the poor reviews that are appearing now.
Wait, I'm confused. 5 hours of screen on time? Or 5 hours in general? Did the reviewer post pictures of how she/he used the battery? This is very relative to usage. If the screen-on time was 5 hours, that is great! Why the complaints?

5 hours of movie watching on %50 brightness.
It also had suprisingly poor performance. I suspect production hardware/software will be different.

If you look at the pictures on Engadget they have a software update available which they never installed before the review for some reason.

Interresting..
I hope its not true, but also 5h is waaaay more than my Xperia arc, 3h of screen play time at most
Anyone know what that update fixes?

30 minutes phone calls uses same battery as 1.5 hr screen on.

This is my second day with the phone, and I am worried about the high
battery use from phone usage. Photos are not included below because although I've been an XDA a user for over 6 months I still have not posted 10 times. Apologies.
46% Remaining, 5hr 46min on battery
28 minutes of "Voice Calls" = 23%
1hr 23mins of " Screen" = 23%
Am having the issue as well... Very bad battery life

Were you on the road? ( even then its exorbitant).
I believe its 4.2 and not the Nexus4 because im on 4.2 on my GNEX and the battery is ****.

People talk on cell phones?
I have had good days and bad ones with the N4, but like I joked, I don't use the "phone" more than maybe 15 mins a month.
I'm seeing more posts about N4's battery and started to feel worry i'm happy with my 4h+ screen on my s2!
Hopefully custom roms/kernels enhance battery life!

My battery life report ~ focused on idle drain

Heres my first full discharge of my newly purchased N5. It was all light usage as noted below. 70% of the time i had good signal.
Took off the charger at 100%, went to bed. 8 hours later, 96%
40 texts exchanged
10 minute voice call
35 minutes of music via BT
40 minutes of GPS
screen time of 3hrs
total time of almost 2 days

Something I was looking forward to. This suggests the Nexus does have great idle time. And the drain is mostly because of the screen. People are expecting magic with such a screen I guess.
I have been using for the last two days, haven't cracked 2.5 hrs on screen time.... I need to keep tweaking

not sure if this will make a difference for you but 3 things that i did is getting me 4+ hours a day screen on time easily. turn off location services completly (just turn them on demand if prompted), disabling google now launchers always listening option, and my personal best fix, disabling tilt scrolling in the chrome browser. tilt scrolling is a little janky atm because it never actually shuts off, so chrome is always registering any device movement in your pocket or whatever even if the chrome app isnt even open, and disabling that helped a TON

Mine has been great today. I have gotten almost 4.5hrs screen on time and I'm still at 38%. That's with stock rom/kernel and Google now and sync on. Granted that today's usage was mostly on WiFi by it is still much better than my N4 was.

Does anyone have this issue with their Nexus 5? I don't have a sim in it yet (waiting to get my micro sim from T-Mobile). But man, Gmail is absolutely destroying my battery life.
I'm sure my battery life would be awesome if this wasn't happening.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Honor 9i before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
5hours max on 4g and gaming. If you only use WiFi, sot will increase. Up to 7 hours.
I'm using the phone for past two weeks now. my screen on time getting me around 6 hours plus. GPS ON, WiFi ON, using 4G mobile data screen on time 5.30 hours.
Sot seems to have improved now and am getting 7.5 hours from 100-15 on continuous usage.
8 hours with heavy usage.
Without heating or lags.

9 hrs. Straight from 100% to 0%. No lag no heat.

Well...I've recently changed the phone company and I'v noticed that with the new one, in the same usage conditions, I do get less time respect to the times when I was with the previous company.

Is my battery good?

I bought a note 8 used and its battery is much better than my 2 year old s6 edge altough it charges slower
Usually I get around 24-30 hrs with 5-6h sot
Today it was a little bit different, I used autodesk sketchbook for quite a bit and my sot was 7.5h but 11.5h on battery and 13% left. I want to keep my battery healthy as I had to charge my s6 edge 2/3 times daily for 1.5 years. Is my battery ok and does it matter if i get :
5h sot and 25h on battery
8h sot and 12 on battery
Thank you in advance
Wtf? I'm at 7 hours on battery and 2.5 hours of screen on time and I'm at 11%.

Try to avoid charging it to 100% all the time. You can research it more online, but charging to 80% for example can extend the battery's life span over the long-term.

As my s6 edge is rooted with Samsung info app I could see that i charged it around 1200-1300 times i think.
Only 20-30 times, i didnt charge it to 100%
That probably had the big impact on the battery then
