hey guys if you have a JWR rom but you want to install a JSS rom but you cant cause it will cause jittery and other problems here is a little fix for that. Here is a link to JSS to JWR .zip file LINK: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4mX1QD9mgaYbkJkMUlDbS1YWWM/edit?usp=sharing LINK. Just flash this after flashing your JSS kernel and you are good to go.it will make your kernel compatible with your JWR ROM(no screen tearing,no jittery)i used that to use matr1x kernel with latest PSX v6 rom(recently converted to JWR) if you want link to that here is it: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...9XLGo_-7C7E_bvG_djz5W1Q&bvm=bv.52288139,d.b2I
Cheers
cool stuff and i just discovered psx is the best in speed! super fast rom, one of my choice definitely! cheers :good:
is there a way to reverse this? I'm on stock 4.3 and ever since I did this to put Matr1x kernel, I can't seem to put any JWR kernels on my phone without the tearing.

You assume someone who would ask such a question would think far enough ahead to create a backup? You have far too much faith in others.

well, the only way is to install a custom rom like PA:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020336&highlight=paranoid+android+3+97
or if you want to go back to stock you have to flash stock image(id rather stay on PA cause PA is way better than stock 4.3)and if you need to really go back to stock you will have to use wugfreshs toolkit
edit:you can install JSS parts of kernels like faux has JWR and JSS kernel.franco also has JSS. which JWR kernel you want to install? reply that to me.

I only stay on Stock because of OTA. Otherwise, I would try other ROMs. I loved CM back when I was on 4.2.2. PA is OK imho. I didn't like the hybrid ui in the settings. If there was a way to disable that, I would be in love with PA. If there isn't a way to do that, what ROM would you recommend with the best performance/battery life/stability?

What do you mean by disabling hybrid properties? PA comes with stock nav bars and stuff.they give you options to change nav. bar DPI etc. in hybrid props.if you dont like it,dont use the hybrid UI settings .
If you want absolute speed with a few features and good battery,PSX ROM is a must.and if you like stable ROM with lots of features and customizations,PA is good too.CM 10.2( 4.3) is kinda buggy but has useful features.i have PSX and PA in my sdcard always. If PSX has some bugs or stuff,I switch to PA(this ROM has no goddamn bugs).PA is my backup ROM in case something fails.

Change the dpi of 'settings' to 320/360p
Default is 245/720p i guess..
Or just open 'settings' from hybrid properties & hit reset in the dpi section.. You'll get the menu with dpi you want

you could have just copied the files from a jwr rom into the flashable zip, as well. all this does is replace the files affecting screen tearing with those from a jss rom, so a c/p of the same files from a jwr rom would change it back

also, when it comes out, would dirty flashing a new version of the current ROM I'm using (PSX v8.5) revert the effects of the JSS To JWR convert, making PSX only work with JWR kernels again, up until I use the JSS to JWR converter? sorry for my confusing word choice btw.

yes, you could dirty flash, but you may have issues. I don't recommend ever dirty flashing any rom unless it's an emergency, like you get a bootloop or something, and I only recommend that to run TiBu or something similar so you can restore after a fresh reflash.
to create a revert zip, just open the convert zip you downloaded from the op in this thread, and the rom you are flashing it to. go through the convert zip and find all the files that match in the rom to which you are flashing the mod. paste all of these to a duplicate zip of the mod, and allow the files to copy over the originals within the mod zip. that's all....just flash the revert zip and you should be good to go to flash a jwr kernel again.

If it works on stock it should still work on this.
What is the different between 3113, 3110 and 3100? Will this rom work with 3100?
So I just got a Galaxy Note N-7000 from my dad,and it is already rooted,
but I'm looking to replace my ROM so I have a few questions (hope this is the right place to open this thread in,if not - sorry in advance):
1.Can anyone recommend a JB based rom with nice (not the most important factor to me) design, that mainley runs smooth and FC-free?
[Also very important to me - I need something I can install hebrew on)
2.Does anybody know any JB based roms that have full hebrew support?
[This is the only one I have found :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208589
and I'm not so sure about it,any feedbacks for pros&cons for this ROM will be greatly appreciated. ]

Welcome!
That is a nice TW (stock samgsung software) based rom, with some tweaks and a diferent kernel you can make it really fast.
On the other hand, as you said you want it to look good I'd recommend you to use VengeanceNote TW, as it's MIUI over the TW base. It is fast. It is beautiful. I'm not sure about the hebrew support tough, you might want to head to the thread and ask there. The dev, Gerrett, is preetty nice and wil most definitely help you as much aas he can.
If you want to use an AOSP ( Google software ) I'd most definitely recommend you Asylum + NX Kernel. This is as fast as my note has ever been. Don't worry about everyone on the thread being crazy tough. Thay are nice after you get used to them
Anyway, good luck with your phone You'll love it

You're lucky then, I had FC on all ROMs i've used on my SGS
I've used VengeanceNote for a long time. It is very stable indeed. Only problem i could remember is that it had a duplicated root manager app, but if you opened the right one you would have no problem at all. I'm just waiting for a custom kernel to support it so i can jump back to it.
Never used Carbon Rom itself, but from what i've experienced with this all-in-one roms, they're not very stable.
I'd say if you're interested on AOSP Asylum is the way to go. It's really clean and fast. And if you don't like the all black look you can always install CM10 themes

Nop, you can use phlz for flashing, but Asylum will overwrite it with CM10 kernel. But i recommend flashing NX after you flashed the rom. It has OC support and GPU clock control. It makes things really smooth.
About the themes you can get them on play store or on some threads here on xda. A quick google search for "CM10 theme" will show you lots of results.

Ummm, actually no,my dad just recommended it to me he said PhilZ is one of the best kernels developers out there,
and that its very safe to use his recovery (maybe I didn't understand correctly but I heard there was a problem some time ago with
ICS kernels/wiping or something, and that this phone got bricked once because of that)
He also said speedmod is great, but I dunno that guy or his kernels lol.

Indeed he's a great dev, and he saved many of us from bricking our devices
On stock samsung kernels, there's a bug, that when you wipe your data partition on recovery it corrupt's the memory chip, rendering it useless. So if you are going to use stock roms on your phone, either don't wipe or stick to safe kernels.
On the other hand, the AOSP kernels don't show such behaviour and are generally safe. So if your going with Asylum, don't worry. You're safe.

No, unfortunatelly you can't add thos features on any AOSP rom. Neither those nor Snote and other TW apps.
VengeanceNote include them tough. Seems you have to make your choice

Truth be told nfsmw_gr told me Ktoonsez kernal would work but I was a bit apprehensive to try because the GE phone is slightly different (We all love his Kernals) so after faith and testing the 4.2.2 KT747 MFD kernal works on touchwiz so everything works now. FIXED SEE ABOVE :I've flashed several TW ports and I keep running into the WiFi issue these are I9505 MGA builds I've tried different things but I am confident this has to do with the stock kernal which houses the WiFi modules and since I'm not knowledgeable on building a kernal I'm going to have to learn and I am reaching out for help in the community. That being said we have working touchwiz but the WiFi does not work and some other little bugs but for the most part I need help again with kernal and wifi
I do know about you but WiFi is a deal breaker for me
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk 2
WiFi is definitely a deal breaker. I'm unfortunately not far enough along in my Android education to help you resolve the issue. I am wondering if you've posted this outside of this thread? There are some very talented ROM packagers out there and I've found a few of them to be quite responsive. I became a big fan of Scott's CleanRoms and messaged with him through his forum. He's on a semi-build vacation but my guess is that he'd be responsive to a fellow ROM builder.
I'll be watching closely and ever eager to try the ROM.
Yes I'm getting help from some other talent like @iB4STiD on getting possibly a Kernal that is what is breaking the WiFi and we do have Kernal source for 4.3 out already.
Hopefully we can get something soon that's the key
FYI I am trying to get some help or advice from @ktoonsez as well

Try using /system/lib/modules from original i9505 TW rom, or give a go at my .zip which is stock MGA kernel + stock modules.
The only thing that fixed WiFi for me when I had this issue with Omega ROM, I flashed NOS HL WiFi fix (or something like that) several times that was on first post with odin but that didn't make my wifi work again.
I read an old thread on xda about HTC Sensation where a Senior Member was mentioning that if the files in /system/modules folder was from another kernel the WiFi wouldn't work.
So I used stock MGA boot.img and extracted the modules folder from stock ROM, placed them all in one flashable .zip and voila!
I flashed and WiFi was working once again!
Anyway, enough talking.
Try manually yourself or try my .zip!
I hope it helps man!
EDIT:
Backup your /system/modules folder just in case.
If you run in any trouble, restore your modules folder and reflash an your previous kernel.
If you still have any issues (highly unlikely, but still) flash back to Stock ROM and you'll be good as new.

Right now I've been talking with Ktoonsez he is kinda busy but I'm trying to see if he can help us.
If he doesn't have time maybe I can get permission too do so ( have to learn how I'm not a kernal guy )
We will have TW fully working. Who knows maybe someone is ahead of me and will beat me to it

Apologies to @nfsmw_gr some people are saying that got the TW kernal from Ktoonsez to work on MFD. Im gonna try that see how it works. I sent a PM to him seeing if I can use it in a port soon.
I got permission from Ktoonsez to use his kernal in a port
Gonna be out for a week though.

Sorry if I missed it but I can't find which ROM you are installing the Kernel on top of?

Great news! This combined with the upcoming MoDaCo Switch will make our phones so much more awesome than they already are.
Ohh that is nice to see for us i9505g folks he is using a i9505 base. Assuming there is a way to apply Ktoonsez Kernal and not disrupt anything inherent to MoDaCo.

UPDATE: Thanks to 2 people @nfsmw_gr and @ktoonsez for helping me. Wifi, browser everything im typing this on the Barebones ROM. So I will be headed back to the kitchen soon and hopefully this will get some builds going with others. Have fun TOUCHWIZ WORKS
Ktoonsez Kernal use the TW 4.2

Here is what I did and it is working well for me. Download the ROM, Aroma and the Kernal. Boot into recovery, full wipe and then wipe system. Flash the ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349369), Aroma (and select what parts you want) and then Kernal. It takes quite a while for permissions, so be patient with the flashing. After that, you reboot and are good to go.
Hi, it works very good hehehe...
First you have to flash a Recovery (If you dont have one), then make a full wipe of Data and System 5 times, install Barebone Rom, intall Aroma apps, flash Ktoonz Kernel for TW 4.2.2, if Recovery ask you to fix permissons select NO.
Everything works fine, but after the first time that i restart the phone it stucks on the Google logo. sometimes shows the samsung logo.
Thats my results, i'll test more roms.
Hi there!
This is the first ROM I've ever made, so bear with me
This is SwagDroid. This ROM is made to completely redefine Android and the way we use it!
It comes with some basic apps, and some bare-bones GApps.
By the way, the name is completely ironic, I just wanted a funny name xD
SwagDroid is based on Paranoid Android 3.99 and is based on JSS (AOSP) And JWR66Y (Stock) in order to stop lag spikes.
I didn't package it with Franco Kernel because I wasn't sure if everyone likes it, but I'd HIGHLY recommend it. It increases battery life, changes the screen, and makes the keyboard vibrations longer (seems stupid but it's awesome xD (Oh, and I know it's just a setting.)).
Anyways, enough chit-chat. Let's get to links.

Changelog:
Build 4.
Added boot animation
Changed default background
Re-themed a couple things
Build 5.
Playing around with things and trying to make boot animation work!
Thanks!
so the difference between this and pa is just apps??

At the moment, kinda x.x;
I'm planning on doing custom wallpapers and a lot of other stuff, but it also has ViperSound Mod Included
EDIT: Oh, and it comes with minimal GApps, it's not really a feature, just throwing it out there x.x;

Yeah haha it's JSS and JWR66Y xD
Sorry about that, I'll add it to the OP
Would you consider adding features to your Rom nothing much, just some convenient stuff?
And yeah compile it with franco, always flash the kernel after every update or maybe the franco mod, got a little more battery with the mod
I am looking to give my dying device one last chance and wondering what ROM is the most stock barebone rom?

Slim Bean for me. I don't know how close to stock it is, but it seems very light on bloat. I did use Paranoid Android for a few weeks, but found stability going backwards the further it was developed. Maybe PA is good now, but I'm sticking with Slim.

The instructions are here - http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/installation. Make sure you read the page fully, including the warning in bold at the top, and that you understand everything before you start.
The instructions make sense to me, but I'm used to flashing. The instructions are not a full flashing tutorial and they only cover the key points specific to Slim Bean. Steps which would apply for all custom ROMs include....
1. You will need to install a custom recovery on your phone as the instructions cannot be followed using the standard Samsung recovery. This would be true for any custom ROM. There are various options for installing custom recovery. Telling you what to do is outside the scope of the ROM developer and the installation instructions for the ROM. Personally I install Philz kernel onto my stock ROMs in order to gain custom recovery features. Now that I have a custom recovery installed this is not a step I need to repeat every time I want to flash a new ROM. It's also why ROM installation instructions don't bother to mention this - it's assumed as a given.
2. It would be a wise precaution to create a Nandroid backup before flashing a new ROM. A custom recovery will let you do this. While recommended, it is not a requirement for a new ROM install so it may or may not get mentioned in the instructions.
3. You will need to download the new ROM and Gapps to the phone. I download to external storage (the micro SD card).
4. Worth repeating - wiping/flashing always carries the (small) risk of something going wrong, which could in the worst case destroy your phone. Less dramatic problems might be boot hangs or boot loops. I've only got into a boot loop once, and that was because I tried to short cut the instructions. Fortunately I dug myself out of that hole by flashing a stock Samsung ROM using PC Odin. The risk is yours if you want to go ahead.
That's the best I can do to help. If anyone else cares to chip in to cover anything I've missed then feel free.
If you want a pure aosp experience use the supernexus rom.
All the others mentioned here are CM based ones, not AoSP

You're right.
Always thought it was, but it seems it only has cherry picks from CM and AOKP.
Still, super nexus is built purely on AOSP code, and technically is 'closest to pure android'.
Thanks for correcting me tough.

Haha. I know that. But the thread is about the ROM that is closest to AOSP, and nothing is closer than AOSP than AOSP itself.
