Hi,
I have an x7500, running AP Platinum 4.0, which I'm very happy with.
Looking at the spec of the x7510, the only real changes I can see are 16GB vs. 8GB, and the new keyboard, so I'm not bothered about upgrading.
However, I was wondering if the new keyboard will work on the old machines, i.e. the x7510 keyboard on the x7500?
Has anyone tried this?
If it works, does anyone know if it's possible to buy x7510 keyboards separately, and where from, and for how much?
Thanks,
R.
if you use x7510 keyboard driver and patched x7510 kernel, then yes
is there a way to have one rom providing support for both the keyboards. I prefer the 7510 keyboard for its number keys but i prefer the 7500 keyboard for its buttons.
If this is possible then i might just buy the 7510 keyboard.

um, not without special patches. the kernel's interrupt handler differs for x7510 keyboard.
but no worries, this is theoretically possible, and so, can probably be implemented, will need to test it first of course. I like the idea myself =)
where are you buying the 7510 keyboard btw?
forgot to say, other drivers are involved too, not just the keyboard driver, still possible though, with some hard work for the kernel patches.

sure, but to come to the threats main question:
The new keyboard fits to your old X7500 as well and for me it is working without any modifications but then with some limitations.
Espacially the number row on top is not recognized along with some other keys. For now, as there is now drivers and patches available for this issue, you can nevertheless get a full function range out of it
using a nifty program like MagigKB lite to get additional usage of your keys by double klicking or holding it. You might use it this way: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2671551#post2671551
And to get it all the right order you still can use AEKmap or else.
To come to the price:
I can say when you loose your new keyboard and then request it a way over HTC support it costs a 124,26 EUR here in Germany and I think it would be nearly the same number in USD
But that is kind to expensive and I think not worth it.
Is there any other way to buy a x7510 keyboard besides directly contacting HTC?
I doubt somebody would, but if anyone has an x7510 keyboard that they don't like, I'd be willing to trade my x7500 keyboard and pay money on top of that to compensate. Or, I could trade two x7500 keyboards for your x7510 keyboard if interested.
Also, does the x7510 keyboard vibrate when used with the x7500? [I heard that the vibration-engine is inside the keyboard itself.]
Sorry if i revive this thread sleeping for so long, but i have a little problem.
Ive installed the x7510 keyboard drivers on my x7500 to use the x7510 keyboard
which now works flawless- but since then the for-way-joystick shows no rection
at all.
Does anyone have an idea what to do?
Since i'm thinking about buying an HD2 but would really like an hardware keyboard (most for writing and playing games), does anyone know if there is some kind of attachment designed for this phone? i don't mind if it will make the handset bigger, since i think the HD2 is actually pretty slim.
Not that the software KB is at all bad on the Leo, but an external Keyboard would be very useful for typing out large documents indeedy.
As far as I know there is no USB host controller on the phone so there are no devices that can be connected to it (Other than a device that has a host controller such as a PC).
There is an alternative though, bluetooth keyboards. The smallest and nicest Ive seen is Logitech DiNovo
...not cheap though. There are a few others out there .freedominput.com have a few nice keyboards. Google around might see a few more
Bluetooth keyboards
I read that somewhere, that there is no USB hc.
Logitech DiNovo Mini looks nice.
I have the full size version, which I love.
I got my Thinkoutside/Stowaway bt keyboard to work with it.
Works well.
No key sound though.

looks usefull but have you tried this with an HD2?
i thought the posts above said that there is no usb driver inside?
I just posted the URL above in case someone needed a small USB keyboard. I don't know about the HD2, but it is probably like my N1 running CM7 with no native USB host keyboard support in the ROM. I have ordered one of these to try with my tiny Archos 28 tablet which does haveUSB keyboad support.

A good keyboard and mouse beats a controller any day. At least that is my opinion.

This! You can have better control using all five fingers on your left hand than just your thumb and pointer finger. Moving from PC to xbox was very frustrating having to use a controller.
It depends what you're used to. I can strafe someone, in a circle, whilst keeping my crosshair on their head, using a controller. I can't do it with a mouse and keyboard but then I've been using a PS style controller for about 15 years.
I tried MotionJoy - wasn't for me. Purchased an Xbox 360 controller (Wireless, Windows compatible ver.) and haven't looked back since. A lot of games have built in compatibility for Xbox controllers (e.g. BF3, Birds of Prey, etc.)
Hi.
Does anybody use an gamepad made for android devices? I'd love to play some old games for PSX but also I don't like using buttons on the screen. I just replaced my old Xperia Play with Xperia Z and already am missing physical buttons...
How about MOGA or Gametel? Will Xperia Z fit in them? Or maybe someone knows even better gamepads?
Dualshock 3, working excellent for me. Using the sixaxis controller app. Haven't tried it using the official Sony app though.

Well, DualShock 3 is working very well, but I'm interested in gamepads that can be connected to the phone. Just like MOGA.

What's the benefit of this over a Dualshock controller other than that connecting clip/stand? I mean, I understand the frustration of trying to find a place to rest the phone while playing, but is there any other benefit?

Moga has a Xbox-like controller setup, people who use Xbox 360 controllers more often would prefer this as they are more used to it. Others prefer dualshock for the same reason - they are used to the controls.
As for me, I just got my MOGA Pro last Saturday and I can say that it makes gaming a whole lot easier. the only thing I actually feel quite annoyed is the fact that the clip is going over my power and volume buttons, it can be a pain if you want to lock your phone or even change the volume since you would need to pull the clip to release the grip onto your phone then you can press a button then you need to let go of the clip so it snaps firmly back in place. Sometimes, the power button can accidentally get triggered by the clip.
I just uploaded a mini-review of the gameklip, you guys can check it out below:

For those who've used the DualShock 3 with the Z, is there a way to connect w/o a special USB-OTG cord or rooting? Like, could I connect both to my laptop with the individual usb cords they came with, instead of buying another new one?
Sorry if this is considered a hijack...
The only cable you'll need is USB-otg cable to connect it for the first time. If you're running 4.2.2 it'll be the only thing you'll have to do.

The native Sony implementation requires you to have a USB OTG cable or a mini USB to micro USB cable to pair the DS3 with the Z.
If you're rooted however you can use the Sixaxis controller app to pair without the need for a USB OTG cable.

I use the moga pro and once you figure out gamekeyboard it works just as good if not better than ps3 controller but I'm sure others would disagree,
Just needs more support from big game devs like more gameloft games and I would love glu games to be supported, but it's only going to get better as game devs support more controllers and HID, love playing DS games with my moga though I can play all the pokemons I never played now! (using draStic)

Unofficial controllers
Hi, does anyone know if can I connect other unofficial controllers to my Xperia Z3 Compact? I dont have the original PS3 controller from Sony and I want to buy a cheaper, unofficial one.
Do you know if will it work? Do I have to do a different process to connect it?
Thanks
Hi!
Do the Sony GCM10 game control mount and PlayStation 4 Dualshock Wireless Controller and Z2 Tablet work well Together?
I can see pictures of the controller and mount with Xperia Z3 and it looks good but the Z2 Tablet is obviously much bigger and the mounts suction pad might not be strong enough!
Any advice welcomed!
Ofiaich
I have both z3 and the z2 tablet. The gcm10 mount works perfectly on both of them.
It sticks slightly better on the z3 back but you'll be fine on the z2 tablet too. The suction thing is really good.
Only downside I've found is after long usage it does start feeling quite heavy with the tablet.
