I've looked it up but found nothing relevant. So...
What's the difference between the different kernels available for ace? For example, firekerneloc vs blackhawkoc or cf-root. Where can i find the info on whether they support swap partition an stuff like that?
Thnx

Fire kernel has support and has new sources. About the infos I think you can find it in feature list in the thread or just try it.

Latest kernels have support and upgraded sources. Cf-root is for stock roms. Firekernel is latest for cm versions

Thank for the clarification, I've been looking for a kernel that gives me BLN and works with a stock rom, but I'm a bit confused some roms come with a ton of features and I dont know if they will work for a normal rom (must of th ones I've read say it works for CMX or TWX etc but none mention stock roms)!
I use battery extender as kernel for stock rom and is working great.

Okay; so I am on Battery Extender (1.4, I believe), using S'perience ROM (based on CM7), what advantages, if any, would FirekernelOC or BlackhawkOC give me in terms of performance or battery life?
Another thing: I've seen both FirekernelOC and BlackhawkOC being used in different versions of the same ROM (take Democracy, for instance), what is the difference between the two?
thnx

Why do you use Battery Extender kernel on a CM7 based ROM?
Battery Extender is for Stock ROM
I've 2.3.6 Stock UBKPL ... I want to install the battery extender 1.5 ... also I want to activate the swap, but I don't know if using swap reduces performance of the battery ... ???

That's exactly my point. Where can I get all these differences? I just read lots of opinions about these kernels but can find no precise information about them. Where can read about them? Forums are a mess and the search function becomes almost useless when you try to refine search to kernel related posts.

There are many New kernels like Diablo, Jaggy, Brood, ...
Which is the best?
I'm currently running SlimBeam With Diablos high performance 2.6 kernel
I would take a 3.x.x kernel.

hey i am curently using nexus kernel v9 at my galaxy S plus...with CM10 beta 2 rom and the battery life performance seems great...the only thing i want to ask is has anyone stayed with CM10 beta 2 kernel ? is it better that nexus kernel ?
Which ROM is the fastest without any lags for note n7000? I was considering asylum 10.1 black, supernexus 2.0 build 3, carbon, revolt, jellybeer?
Any suggestions? I really need a fast camera app, because i shoot a lot of pictures.
Appreciated.
Vinny,
i posted a [guide] PERFECT rom. In Development area. They closed it though
Stock look...NO LAGS and fast camera
Based on Blackcna wich is BLAZING fast
Black cna is actually fast.
Yeah, but its 4.1.1. I was actually looking for a 4.2.2 release. I have Official jb 4.1.2. German release and I am knew to flashing a rom. I was wondering how much speed will i gain? Would it be noticable? I am interested in Supernexus 2, Asylum, maybe Carbon. I really hate now lag in some aplications like facebook,G+, it takes forever to open Contacts, write messages, and so on. So, what do you think?
Carbon is my favourite give it a go. It's blazing fast and smooth like hell

Kernel?
Can i flash to this kernel before flashing any of these roms?
"Kernel_CM10.1_20130225_n7000_CWM.zip *new mali* "
from kernel repository?
Is it good? Or to use previous versions of CM10.1 kernel? (Because of battery draining issues?)

I would go with Carbon ROM or Asylum ROM (if you do not mind flashing the nightlys). I just switched from Asylum to Paranoid only because it allows a little more customization.
Asylum is great in all respects and in my setup/usage has the best battery life too. Carbon for stabilty and speed. Paranoid for customizable options including Phablet/Tablet/Phone UI.
I vote carbon rom then

I am using Carbon rom. Its much faster than official JB 4.1.2. but still i get some glitches, and a bit of lag while scrolling in some applications. :/ Is it because of the hardware, or i didnt do something good?
i install latest cm 10.1 kernel for n7000, wipe factory reset, wipe cache partitions, wipe darvink, and format system in mount and storage. Maybe i had to go to Mounts and Storage and mount /cache /system /data /preload and format /cache /data /preload before installing a carbon rom?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post in this forum but i have been android fan for over 2 years and i have experinced with different roms.
For over 10 mounts i have been using a MIUI GB Rom which was good and everything works, but sometimes i just had to reinstall it because it begun to FC everything.
I wanted to try the new Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on my device but i found that there is alote of Roms out here.
I need you to recommend Which one to install. The importent thing too me is that everything should work and be stable too (wifi gps bluetooth).
I am thinking of cm nightly or slimbean Roms.
What do you think?
Thanks

I tried several roms and my personal top three is:
- SuperNexus 2.0
Superfast but without any customization and the battery drains a bit too fast.
- Slimbean
Maybe the most complete and the best rom.
- CyanCore
A bit faster than slimbean with less customization, but there is all I need.
Now I'm running CyanCore but maybe slimbean is the best try.
In my experience, SuperNexus 2 JB Rom exceeds all other JB custom Roms for i9000. Super fast, lag free, stable, and consumes the least battery.

I agree SuperNexus is amazing, especially if you are looking for a fast, "stock" JB ROM. However if you are looking for speed, reliability, and so forth but with customizability then I would wholeheartedly recommend aways Xylon ROM or his PAC MAN ROM. PAC combines the best of Paranoid Android, AOKP and CM ROMs into a superROM.
Helly Bean hands down. With that said, I was just about to try out SuperNexus since everyone's raving about it!

Never had problems with slim bean very fast and efficient rom. best thing is the batterydrain is lower than in most roms.
Try latest c-ROM mix v13 and i found it better than super nexus 2 when it come to customization and plenty of options with semophore kernel

What about battery life? I am on super nexus for over a month. Gives decent battery life with 50% usage for a days use. Just using Whatsapp, email and maybe about less than half hour talk time. Thinking of moving to version 13 of crom mix.

Are popular ROMs like Slim, Mackay, Devil, Fishears, CyanAosp, Supernexus2 all derivatives of Cyanogenmod? Have been using CM 10.1 nightlies for a month now, but my videos and games stutter. Wanted to know a good ROM for video rec/playback, games and good battery life. Thanks.

Thanks for this. Am actually waiting for Faryaab's Supernexus 2 Build 4 which I believe is in the works. For now, CM 23-Mar nightly is working okay for me. Just want to see similar video recording quality as was in Sammy's Gingergbread before I rooted the phone and installed CM. Guess current Supernexus 2 Build 3 by Aways is still not upto the mark in video recording quality.
AFAIK, camera and video in all JB Custom Roms are with the same quality. So good luck, hopefully you can find a good cam & video in one of the custom JB Roms

Oh.. If all are the same quality, then good luck to me Maybe someone can port GB camera to JB. Another feature I miss is clicking still pix while recording video. Was good to record my little one's school play performances and taking pix simultaneously.
