Sprint has a policy of switching costumers to a different device after 3 exchanges. I'm waiting for my 3rd HTC one, all for the same reason with the SIM card error. I can't imagine that this replacement will be any different. With that being said what choices will I have for a new device

S4 pretty much. Maybe a Note II.
Quick question, are you taking the SIM card out at any time, or are you not touching it? Because I only ever had problems with mine after I removed it from my phone and put it back in.
I also have the sim card error but it comes and goes every once and a while. When ever I get it it usually goes away after 15-20 min. Even with all the issues the HTC One has I would never trade it in for any of the phones available atm.

Same. I haven't had the sim error, does it just deny LTE? If thats all it does I'd suffer for a bit (if you don't have a time restraint) and see what the Nexus5 announce says. The word is it has the CDMA bands for Sprint use and I've been itching to get my hands on a true nexus phone.

I've never touched it. My thought I'd that I shouldn't have to do quick temporary fixes on the phone. That and possibly giving Sprint a reason to deny liability.

I even asked to get a different device the last time I took my Shift in for a warranty exchange, and they wouldn't let me.
When you had the issue do you just call sprint warranty? or do you have to go into the store and state your issue?

It's a policy to OFFER a different device after the three, but not that you HAVE to change to a new device.

I dunno, maybe it's the advantage premium plan I'm on that changes things. It's nice because it's less than most of the plans, but I've got to go to a repair center for anything, I can't just switch things over the phone.

People who haven't been able to fix the SIM error.
Have you tried updating your Service profiles?
Just contact Sprint via chat, and ask them to re activate your device. They should ask you for your IMEI number.
Make sure they ask you for it. I had this happen to me after I got my phone's board replaced. The chat guy kept telling me to get a new SIM card, and I kept telling him it was pretty much the same phone, and exactly the same card. So yeah.

From what I remember when I worked there it had to be a manufacturer defect every time and the 3 swaps have to occur within a 6 month time frame. Not sure if yours fell into that. If they did then your store might be more screwy than others. Or you just weren't upset enough

Seriously? An S3? That doesn't make any sense to me. It should definitely be an S4. When we had the EVO and Epic come out a lot of EVOs had issues and several people were able to do the swap and we got them into Epics. A phone a year older with much lower specs shouldn't qualify as a comparable device.

Scotch tape fixed it for my wife's phone also make sure SIM surface is super clean. My wife's phone had a big greasy finger print on contact side and recurring issues but after scotch taping on plastic side to keep it tight it's fixed. But I never had this issue on mine, I did however blow a speaker and swapped it a month ago.
I wouldn't take another phone over this still.

Anyone else get TEP added automatically for your ONE. I just noticed that I have it and all I did was chat with a rep to activate my line.
I did. I had went into the store and didn't find out till today.

Possibly doing it to increase their attachment numbers. Attachments such as the international package or TEP are counted metrics for us preferred retailers but idk if the same applies to corporate. At least in my store we'd never apply anything that would increase your bill without you asking for it or us confirming you want it.
Lately there's been a push to attach tep do the rep most likely added it

As a Sprint sales associate & technician, I can tell you TEP is not required for any phone. I always suggest it (and have it on my own line) because I see a lot of people that get screwed without it. At least for the first couple months of having the phone. TEP can only be added at the time of purchase (or within 30 days but they don't usually tell you that), but you can remove it at any time with no hassle.
Regardless, that wasn't cool to add that on without your permission. Always look at the contract when they print it out in the store and see if everything is correct. Unfortunately, you can't really do that over the phone. In Sprint's defense, it's not a Sprint thing to just add it to your account, we're all individuals like yourself working for the company and how honest we are in what we do is directly linked to the person. We're not all like that.
Hi all, because sprint is removing my discount (I've been a customer for over 10 years) it is cheaper to move to T-mobile, but it has already been over 14 days and I cannot return my current sprint phone.
I currently have it rooted and unlocked, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to just somehome keep this phone, but use it on the T-mobile network instead of having to sell this, and than buying a new one and losing money.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Thank you!
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they make it illegal to take your phone to a new carrier without your current carriers permission. Granted I do not know the details. But from what I understand the networks are not compatible so I do not think you would be able to do that. One is CDMA and the other is GSM.
I'm surprised no one's answered this simple question.
To answer your question, no. No way in hell. Sell your phone and get it T Mobile Phone simple as that.

No, for two reasons...
1. The phone won't do GSM inside the US.
2. Even if it could do GSM in the US, it lacks UMTS 850, UMTS 1700 and LTE 1700, hence performance on T-Mobile as a smartphone will be poor.

Pretty sure that's not going to happen, unless it's not really a "One" but a variant thereof. If memory serves me right, the only reason One variants with SD card slots exist (I think the ones in Asia?) is because some markets use smaller radio kits, which allowed for just enough space to cram an SD card reader in.
Well I mean, Verizon has gotten their own special variants before, so I wouldn't rule it out of the question

Neither would I, but HTC has pushed pretty damn hard on keeping the One uniform across as many markets as possible, so it's less of a tossup than previous handsets.
Last years model of the one series the Sprints Evo LTE came with a sd slot and no other did.
I would gladly pay the early termination fee, resell my phone to get my money back, and switch over to Verizion. Hell, even if there's no sdcard slot, I might switch, because I getting sick of Sprint ahha.

It's not a phone. That is something to keep in mind. You can use Google Voice or other call-over-data software, but there isn't native phone functionality. It's great as a camera that can still run applications, but if you are looking for a phone first with a great camera second, it probably shouldn't be the first choice.
As for activation, most carries do not WANT to activate an unlocked device, but if it has a clean ESN, they will eventually agree. Worst case, you get whatever free 4g piece of garbage they are offering, pop the sim in the one you want and put theirs on eBay. That is if you even need 4g, which in this case you would.
Not entirely true. If you have an unlocked Galaxy Camera, you can get T-Mobile data plan for $20 bucks (550 mb). Using Google voice and Talkatone, you have a functional phone. No difference whatsoever from a regular smartphone. As a matter of fact, I turned off my S3 and was getting regular calls through "the camera."
My only warning is make sure it's unlocked. Amazon sent me an AT&T locked phone instead of the unlocked that they advertised. I did return it and I'm waiting to get a new "unlocked" phone today. Also, boot in odin mode to make sure it's not a used phone. Mine had been flashed 5 times by someone else and then sold to me as new. Beware, lot's of crooks out there.

OK I know that ALL the nexus 5 sold at T-Mobile, Sprint, best buy, etc are the SAME as Google play store.
I was in Houston to visit family yesterday, and sold my moto g, and moto x(att model) to my family friend and then figured "ya I could order the nexus on Google but since selling the moto's I would just be paying the tax for the 5!"
So I go to best buy, not in stock, then go to T-Mobile store....NEVER again!(only because their like 390 full price!)
First the guy said he couldn't sell me it cause it won't work on anything other than T-Mobile....... So I told him that I know it will work or I wouldn't be asking you to buy it.... Then the store demo I put my Sim in it and BAM! Getting LTE on straight talk att Sim! Then I show him and then he said the demo model works cause it one straight from the Google play store! LMAO WHAT!
So I leave go down the street to another T-Mobile store same story!
Then I finally went to a sprint store...
The guy was basically acting like I was stupid and he bet me it wouldn't work....so he sell me the phone (399) I put my Sim in the phone and by this time he called everybody else in the store to see if it was going to work! The of course it works, and he was like we'll it probably because it not activated on our network. Then he went on saying I couldn't sell that to anybody on sprint cause the phone will be blacklisted.......OR I said "it could be idk IT'S THE SAME PHONE THAT GOOGLE SELLS ON THE PLAY STORE!" and walk out
So I guess next time people just order from the play store unless your only going to pay tax for a brand new phone lol!

What? Out of all service companies, I can't believe T-Mobile would say that! That's crazy.
They probably don't want to sell their N5' s cause they know they're sold out on Google store and they want customers who buy the N5 to stay in their company. That's why whenever I go to my company (T-Mobile) I end up arguing with them, they seem to not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to Google phones.

Well the sprint store wasn't really busy at all. Had one customer leaving as I was walking in. But the T-Mobile store was actually quite busy which I was surprised bout. Tmobile works great in Houston and Dallas. But where I live their not even a store that's how bad it is!

just because their employees arent to bright, it doesnt change the fact that its more than possible to have done. its easy to do, and many sprint employees have figured out how to do it right. if the employees working where you go cant do it, go to another sprint.

No thanks. Sprint's LTE network is an absolute mess in my area, good signals usually but the 1,500+ms pings and 0.05 megabit downloads are painful. I do the AIO thing.
At least T-mobile let you purchase it. When it first came to Sprint, they would only sell it on contract. (Corporate store around me)

Well then go to another store. I don't care for sprint as other solution work out better for me. But I know it will work and since you don't have sprint it shouldn't matter to you

If you think a Sprint store can enter a MEID into the system that was never there before then I believe you need to go buy a bunch of lottery tickets.
