Chromecast & iOS7 - Google Chromecast

Hey guys I'm trying use my chromecast i set it up but now I can't cast anything to it... I'm using iOS 7 but it didn't work on my older android phone either.

My wife's iPad 2 works perfectly fine with it. As well as both my nexus 7 and gnex

What are you trying to cast? Did you add the device or pair the device to the chromecast? Make sure they are both on same network. Only apps to work so far are mainly YouTube Google Music and Netflix.

I am aware of what apps do and don't work, and my house is isolated enough that it's the only network available it works with my GN and PC but not my iphone 4

Ok just asking. As for iphone 4 not sure why it wouldn't work. Only thing I can think of is make sure your iphone has its wifi on. Other than that not sure.

Yeah I understand. It may be my router just being a pos it about time to upgrade

Did u find a solution? Im having problems with my iphone 4 does not find the CC but my wifes note 2 and laptop can cast fine. Iphone is in the same wifi as the CC. I actually used the iphone to setup the CC but now its not working

Bluetooth cuts wifi on 4.2.1

Hello.
When I use my Bluetooth headphones my wifi cuts out after about 10 minutes, it only affects the nexus because my xbox can still connect as can my 2 computers and laptop.
I know for a fact it's not my internet as my noise margin is currently at 19.5db download and 25.5db for upload.
help please??
Android 4.2 has a lot of Bluetooth issues. I don't know how to fix it, try to Google it?

Go to apps in settings and go to all apps and find bluetooth share and clear data, it fixed the issue for me
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Its slower then dial up when i use the head phones...
dunno why i have a fast internet (24meg down)
I use Bluetooth and wifi at the same time all the time. I have a moga controller that's paired and surf no problem.

Asus, the maker of our N7, had to cut corners to come under $200 mark, so they specc'd a cheap WiFi/Bluetooth chip in the N7. Furthermore, they cut corners on QC, thus the atricious build quality and service issues.

I tried that earlier today, but it had zero impact for me.

I take this back. It doesn't happen all the time and a reset usually fixes it. Sometimes when I pair my Moga, my play store won't load. I can still surf but some apps wont connect. Rebooting fixes it until I attempt to pair again. Its not every time but about 1 out of 5 times.
I thought it was just the Moga Pivot app at first and I just use the universal driver now... but it still cuts wifi occasionally.
Probably just a quirk with 4.2.1

I'm personally not sure. I'm the only one I know that has NFC. :sly:

NFC is super slow. So far, Android Beam can only send LINKS, like Youtube, Drive, Play store, etc and small files like contacts.
S beam uses NFC to trigger Wifi direct. But that's only Samsung to samsung.
Unless I'm wrong. In which case please show me the light. I know of no effective way to transfer files from android to android.
Use the app SuperBeam for nfc and qr code wifi direct file transfers.

As of jellybean nfc initiates Bluetooth to transfer larger files but things like links and other small files like u meantioned use android beam.
As gk said I'd also recommend superbeam I've used it to transfer with a nexus 7 and works like a charm it resembles s-beam in a way as it uses WiFi direct

Which leads me to another question... Why in the hell does android have wifi direct but not take advantage of it? It would be so much better... Apple took advantage with airdrop or whatever new iOS 7 feature that is...

Friend,
how about lag?
Is it ok?
It is really ok. Streaming videos and other stuff is super quick. Only when playing games such as real racing 3 there is lag and problems with picture sharpness, but I didn't bought it for games. I have samsung keyboard with mouse pad so I wanted to use it as pc. But this with multi widnow makes me angry.

Im gonna have to look into this on my tv.
I have the Verizon note 2 and I just tried it. No it doesn't work. I held down the back button and got nothing on the TV or phone. I turned off cast and worked as normal.
A work around would be nice. I can't imagine why that would be disabled.

Allshare cast is samsungs name for miracast. You can get cheap dongles that support this plus aircast and dlna £24 on ebay

Not for me
I have it and it works great with my daughter's stock Note II.
My Note II with CM; not so much.
At least it was cheap.
I don't really see the need, if you connect to wifi with the phone tv, or blue ray you can stream all day without issue.

Allshare dongle is overpriced. Chromecast is multi platform and thus can be used with all your tablets/smartphones and computers.

Chromecast and iPad 1 YouTube

Can't figure out a way to cast YouTube content from an iPad 1st gen since it can't update to ios6 and the YouTube app in the app store won't let me install the latest YouTube unless I have ios6. Anyone else had success with this combination?

Same here. My wife's iPad 1 doesn't cast.
Big time fragmentation issue with Apple products.
and my 2nd gen iPod touch won't update a recent version of iOS and I guess I'm out of luck getting any app updates for it anymore. Thanks for the planned obsolescence guys.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Obviously you will not be able to cast from it since Youtube hasn't supported Chromecast/DIAL since until the last few months and the iPad 1 is using an old Youtube app created by Apple.

Note 3 users, do you have a tablet too?

I have a note 3 which is considered "the tablet phone", but to me it feels like a phone. I would love a tablet but don't know if it's worth the money since I already have a large phone.

Yep, a Note 2014. I use it at home and the phone on the road.
I had a 7" Acer Iconia tablet and Nokia Lumia 920. I got tired of carrying the tablet everywhere I thought I might need a tablet when the phone would not do. Lack of Android on phone of course. So I decided to get the Note 3 to replace both. Now I am happy and only have one daily carry item.. Not to mention the Note is only 1.3 inches smaller than my tablet and that I can live with. Still a huge screen compared to most phones and one of the highest resolutions out there for it's size.
I have a Nexus 10. I use it to watch videos while I'm in bed.

Ok, from someone who has a nexus 10. Do you think I should get nexus 1O or wait a few weeks to see the nexus 1O 2? Is the nexus 1O still "up to par" spec and software wise compared to current tablets on the market now

It isn't certain that there will be a new 10" Nexus device in the near future. I use my Nexus 10 for video due to the size of the screen and front facing stereo speakers. Still, my Note 3 feels much snappier. So far as advice is concerned, I would hold out until we see what is released in the next few months.

Keep in mind the Nexus products DO NOT have SD card slots. So whatever internal memory they have, is all you get..

This has been a problem for me, I cannot keep more than a few HD films on my Nexus 10 before I must delete one to make space for another.
I believe this is a move, on Google's part, to force one to rely on the Play Store for a great deal of media content.
Edit: I have the 32gb Nexus 10.

I have an iPad air and my note 3. Really like iPad better than android tablets, just a personal preference for me.
Microsoft Surface Pro 2. Carried an iPad that I never used. Note 3 and Surface Pro seem to be a pretty good combo.

No Need!
I was in two minds, buying the Nexus 5 and a tablet or buying the Note 3. I bought the Note 3 and I am not regretting my choice. We you need a tablet just rotate the Note 3 and it's pretty much looks like 7 inch tablet.
i bought the note 3 so i didn't have the need to buy a tablet, and to me it's perfect, i won't buy any tablet at all!

Avid reader here, I have to have my 7" galaxy tab 2, note 3 can't replace it in my opinion.

I'm currently sporting a Note 3 and an iPad Mini with retina display. Maybe I should've bought the iPad Air instead. I find myself not picking up the mini that much (except for long reads like ebooks).
If I needed something bigger I'd go for my laptop or Smart TV. :good:

Great as a small laptop as long as you get the type cover. I spent about 2 hours typing up reports, and while it is not as nice as a mechanical keyboard, it works quite well. Touch and pen interface is very nice as is battery life. A bit heavy to hold for pure tablet use, but not obscenely so. If you're familiar with Windows 8 you won't have any surprises, if not it's a strange interface to get used to.
There are glitches and weirdness, but overall I find it a very productive tool.
