Hey,
did anyone manage to properly control the LED with an app? It's really bright and shiny when e.g. charging the phone but when i use it with apps i barely see it since most dont allow to further control the led notification, its mainly really high intervalls between the short blinks.
i installed light flow but i dont get it to work, it just doesnt do anything. i tried root mode and all, no success.

You need to ensure you turn it on in accessibility settings menu, see my pic. I can confirm it works well as I'm using that app.

Thanks for your reply but of course i turned it on in accessibility menu, i also tried all the options. i have no idea why it is not working. Do you use stamina mode? its also sometimes not blinking even with lightflow turned off..

Ah I just remembered when I had a XZ using stamina mode stops the LED from working.

Yeah but it was fixed in a future update. I dont even get it working without stamina mode though.

Oh right, hmm, did you try to test the notifications in light flow, in settings it says test all LEDs what does that do? Other than a factory wipe I'm not sure.

It does nothing. Just stating that it starts in 5 seconds and nothing happens. No matter if the screen is turned on or off.

Hmm then it might have to be a factory reset, I had to do that with my XZ when I had it.

I'm using an app called Light Manager now, everything works fine. You can also control the intensity of the LED with it.

Does the LED have multiple colors? Is it fixed to a certain few, e.g. just red, green, orange?

Yes it does, you can set it to what you want with apps.

No it doesnt. I have an XZ constantly on stamina mode and my notification light still works

When the XZ first came out it did stop the LED from working, then Sony fixed it.with an update, so the Z1 might be the same.

I have the very same problem here on my Z1.
It's rooted with VRoot, firmware updated this morning to 14.1.G.1.534, but still I can't manage to work led notification through any software found on Play Store (Ligh Flow and Light Manager included).
Led does work when battery is low (red) or charged (green) or charging (orange) with stock settings, but nothing more.
Any other led test brings no effect, no light and no color at all.
Any suggestion?

I have XZ1 and my phone works a breeze without any issues now. Only issue i had from new was the vibrator stopped working for a day or 2 from initial re-flash cause i played with the build.prop and crashed it into a bootloop.
Re-flash might be the way to go, but if it still carries on without the light working, i'd return it faulty...
BTW are you giving it eonugh time to flast the 'Blue" light for incoming notifications?
Mine usually takes about 20secs to kick in, but it does work

Led system notifications work fine, I just can't manage to set any custom notification so it would be difficult to return it as faulty (since it's not a stock function I'm complaining of).
I flashed the old version and the new, once with Flashtool and once by Sony PC companion and the result is: only when it's brand flashed, just before configuring and downloading any other app, the first time I run the led TEST on Ligh manager IT WORKS. Any other test (even run just a couple of second after and without changing anything else) fails.
I assume there's something wrong, maybe some kind of conflict but I really don't know what this could be.
For now I decided to wait for the new firmware (which is on its way) to see if maybe there is some issue that has been solved in the meantime.

Hi Ricochet23. Mine is the same as yours. I've tried ALL apps and all configuration (with, without STAMINA; Accessibility, etc) and not even a Blink. When Charging, full charged I have all notification without a problem. Did you try to Factory Reset? It worked? I didn't tried because in my phone I can't have ROOT and can't do a proper backup of my applications. Mine is Xperia Z1 C6943 14.1.G.2.257 (still no way to ROOT it and I can't downgrade cause I can't find a Stock C6943 1.534 FTF).
If it worked please notify me so I can try to have some time to do all backups possible without root and reset it.
I had the same issues, could not get it to work, however, there's a setting under Settings -> Display -> Pulse Notification Light that I enabled, and after that it works like a charm, perhaps this could solve it?

I have lightflow installed since my Xperia Z and now on my Xperia Z1, you have so much control of settings flashing, vibration patterns,and tones. I would say this one of the best apps I have used for notifications. I have the paid version which has more options than the free version.
agreed the led is not as easy to see.

Hi all,
I noticed that my xperia TX are only showing one flash of white light when there is a incoming message and it can't seems to flash continuously like previous xperia handset. Is this a firmware issue? I have not upgrade the firmware and still using the initial 1.303.

I don't know is it a soft ware issue. Just don't a clean wipe and reinstall it to see how it goes after.
Use seus or pcc.
Is your notification working fine for u? Except from low battery I am able to get continuous flash periodically else the rest only one short flash

The Notification light on my TL doesn't light up for missed calls or messages either. Just one flash of white as you stated. It's very irritating. It's probably a software issue. I wish Sony would step up their games and fix it.
I am using light flow to control now. Which firmware are u at?

This is problem with deep sleep support. When you turn off extended mode (i have czech language) in battery power management (Settings), then LED blinking normal.

Don't know if it's gonna make any difference but...have you connected the phone to the pc to check for updates?
The French version did not come with the last version, 350 I think.
just done a full phone reset and made no difference.
the phone says no other update is available, if I connect phone to PC I guess the same will be said

Hello,
I got my Xperia this monday, it came from Germany. With the notification led it happened just the same until I did a factory reset and then the led started working perfectly.
Hope this helps.
The LED works for me when getting whatsapp messages. I have not yet noticed if it lid up when I got an SMS/email. Will report back when I have more info.

At least for phone calls and sms it should notify you...
Got the same thing here, also did a reset and I'm not in stamina.
Must be a setting or something that we're "missing".
Done a full phone reset 3 times and still no fix
I am gonna just throw this out here, cause I dont actually have the phone, but are light notifications activated within the apps of themselves by default?
in messaging in you go into setting there is options to tick or un tick LED notification but in my case it is ticked.
tried unticking reboot and then reticking and reboot but made no difference
I should be one of the bugs Docomo has fixed today on their version - notification led not notifying during sleep, there's no Extended Stamina Mode
I guess Sony will do the same for operator-free firmware really soon.
hopefully its very soon, its very annoying not knowing if a sms or a missed call has happened

My phone's music beat effect has stopped working in standby (when music is playing) after 12.1.A.1.201 update.
It first worked when the screen was off while playing music but after several days, now it does not work. I even restarted my phone and also reset it but the problem is not resolved.
How to resolve this problem?

Eh.. To be honest this is not a feature but a small bug/error.
Normal the LEDS should go off when you turn your screen of while playing music. But for some reason the LEDS can stay on. Cause is unknown but it is not a real feature of the device

With Android 4.3 update, Sony started that the illumination bar (for music) will work even when the screen is off. So that's why I was a bit worried that it did not worked properly

Not true.. Because on the 4.1.2 version. If you were quick with opening walkman and pressing home you'll had the same effect even when display is off.
This is some sort of bug.... (i think)

I also have tried it and it worked. But I thought Sony has added it as a feature in its update.
I dont think it is a update or feature.. Since only works or happens sometimes.

do u have root? if so - install LED Light Manager. by this app u can customise light notifications for all of actions and activities.

Try Charging LED, it may work.
Optionally, you can define all batery level colour to pure red (#ffff0000), this is by far the less bright colour and you will no longer be annoyed by the led at night.
yeah i really hate that blinking ..i treid lightflow but that didnt worked at all ...

Lightflow seemed to crash my phone every few days. I'd get a notification and boom - the phone screen would no longer turn on. I'd have to do a red-button reset to reboot the phone.
Lightflow is a no go. Crashes

Not on my Z2 .. only if i checked to control the RBG LED wich i dont need, it works good apart from disabling the damn low battery blinking

Use gravity box. it works for stock roms. all you need is a rooted device.

I purchased Light Flow mainly for a light for missed calls. Others may use it for more. I do have it working properly as should but only way I got it work under Device Root Setting enable Direct Mode.
Did anyone on N6 get it work without Direct Mode? What I want is the led to flash but all it will do stay solid in color.

I don't think anyone has gotten it to blink yet, it will stay solid. I have heard if you receive multiple notifications, it will flash.
I can confirm. It's only blinking when you have multiple notifications each with a different color.
I have issues with this app. Also with all root settings enabled led doesn't work properly. Sometimes it doesn't turn on and sometimes it doesn't turn off (in this case I must open the app to turn it off). I hope Dev will update this app soon.

I had some issues with Light Flow too. The LED sometimes didn't work. Now i have found a "hidden" setting in the menu. In Accessibility (you have to scroll down) is an option "Light Flow". You have to turn this to on. Now my LED works as it should.
How can i get this to work with the basic standard messenger?
I have sms selected but so far no go. Everything else had worked so far
Didn't know the nexus 6 had working led light.
I didn't get the LED to work for incoming SMS neither. Maybe someone here has an idea how to fix this.

pretty sure I saw a post yesterday from the author starting an update was in the works that will fix the led for messenger
