Could anyone give me some help in the right software to download to revert back to stock and unroot.
I've searched everywhere and cannot find anything!
I really should of learned how to unroot the phone before i rooted it tbh but any help/links would be greatly appreciated!

I have a fully stock HTC one CID 02___001 which i can give you a nandroid from. All you will have to do is restore the nandroid, then manually flash stock recovery using fastboot and you will be back to stock and able to get OTA's etc. However i cannot do this till tomorrow evening for you, roughly this time ill post it for you.
If you happen to have a usb otg cable that can connect a mouse to your phone, you can restore a 4.1.2 backup. Then flash its recovery manually and use the mouse to get around the touchscreen not working and OTA your way back to 4.2.2 stock.
I will edit this post in about an hour once the 4.1.2 nandroid i have has uploaded(super slow uploads) and you can use it if needed.
The stock recovery you need to manually flash is in the nandroid. Just need to pull it out of the zip.
Hope this helps!

if you could email me that back up it would be greatly appreciated! Do I just use custom recovery to install that then manually flash the stock recovery?

Still looking for help here!

Hi danl94
I'm having the exact same issue as you mate. I need to also revert back to stock. Can you post a link for the nandroid upload if you receive it? I would be entirely grateful for your help!

Sorry guys for the delay,
Here is the 4.1.2 backup, It was provided to me by Gandalf Greyhelm but in the spirit of XDA and helping ppl get back to stock im sure he wont mind it being passed on i will pop a PM over to him shortly.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93927975/4.1.2 1.44 O2_001.zip
If you are on hboot 1.54 you will need to restore in CWM > manually flash recovery from the nandroid.
Then use a usb otg cable and mouse to accept the ota as the touchscreen wont work.
I've been lazy in backing up my phone >pulling the backup > wiping phone> making clean backup of 4.2.2 > uploading > restoring.
I'll try and get it done a bit later tonight.
If you have the OTG cable the 4.1.2 backup > OTA is very effective worked great for me.

Right is this what I do?
Restore the nandroid backup...
Then flash boot.img...
Then flash recovery.img...
Or do I just flash the recovery without the boot? Remembering I'm on 1.54, Ive bought an otg cable so that bit is solved, just this last bit

Neither of these methods are working, HERCIMG.ZIP just keep saying No Image! and the second method has no option to restore a nandroid backup that I can see, clockwork only shows backups that it performed itself and wont show the new folder I dropped in there.
Im running stock Hboot and stock radio, what the hell am I doing wrong?

Are you without a pc? If you have a pc and can connect, then go to the Htc website . Download the Htc sync pakage, install it the download the latest RUU and connect your phone and reinstall the RUU should take about 10 -15 mins. You will be un-rooted.

Messed Phone Up Question About T-Mobile

If your problem is transferring files, can you not go to recovery and use usb-ms (while attached to the computer) which will then open the memory of the phone on the computer. That's what I did to transfer stock ruu when I recently bricked my evo 4g.

no success at all, I'm gonna head to the tmobile store here in a few and see what I can get worked out
I just came back from the bell store, and they said that they could exchange me for a new one but they don't have any in stock until Tuesday.
I soft bricked my nexus devices dozen times in the past few years, and was easily restored to stock. Lesson learned by me, never root a non nexus device within 1 week of its release.

Why even bother? Just push a ROM, wipe system and data, then flash it.
You don't need a ruu. What did you do to get into a bootloop.

dont know how you did that. ive flashed every rom i could for this device to problem recovering from bootloops
I managed to fixed mine finally, Installed twrp and mounted my USB via otg. Then flashed a custom ROM, rebootef, still suck at the boot screen. Flashed a custom kernel, and it finally got passed the boot screen.
So happy to get my One back up and running again.

[Q] Software update not completing install

My HTC One is with Rogers and I had it rooted using the all in one toolkit. The last time it was running I was on the Nandroid backup as listed below which comes unrooted, but I rooted it with CWM recovery. .
Nandroid Backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874, in particular Rogers Nandroid Backup from Whampahoofus
(http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1857-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-roger001-12963117/)
So tonight I decided to go and unroot and flash the stock recovery because there was an OTA update available but would not install due to custom recovery. I followed the same process which is restore the nandroid backup from Whampahoofus as it is by default unrooted, I restored my data from tonights nandroid backup, booted up fine and tested that I was able to use the phone as is. I then went ahead and flashed the stock recovery (which is below)
Stock Recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270552&page=3
Success, I now had stock recovery, and unrooted. I didn't relock my bootloader as I didnt feel it was necessary just to successfully install an OTA update. I went ahead and it did go through and download the OTA, it started to install the downloaded OTA and about a quarter of the way through the progress bar, it is still there. Going for the past >30 minutes now. I cant seem to reboot out of it or anything. Thankfully cause that would probably be a bad idea if it was still going.
Anyway, anyone experience this before or have suggestions?

Mine also hanged during update and required the "press power under bright light" trick. Then after reboot it hanged again (for 30-40 minutes) and i restarted it. After the second restart it rebooted successfully BUT the sdcard contents were still under /data/media instead of /data/media/0 so i rooted and moved the files manually from adb shell.
It is recommended to flash the original RUU... After that, you shouldn't face any issues during OTA... I did the similar process as you, but i was getting a red triangle on OTA update process....
I flashed RUU and everything went smoothly then.

[Q] restore to 4.2.2 after upgrading to 4.3

Hi,
I don't know if there are similar threads but here's the thing:
I have made a twrp backup of 4.2.2 venompie, I did a clean install of 4.3 ARHD, and now, I want to make a recovery to my old backup of 4.2.2
How to do it? Knowing that my HTC one is unlocked international version, rooted and s-off.

no bugs, if you've backed up everything (system & data) using twrp, then it will restore all your ROM+apps+data+settings.
EDIT: better wipe dalvik and cache, before rebooting

[Q] Rooted/s-on. Can I update anything.

Can I install stock recovery and then try to take a ota to update. Will I loose root and will I loose my rom? Will I be able to reinstall a rom or will I need to reroot?
you can try, you shouldn't loose root or anything but once you have unlocked and flashed stuff I doubt stock recovery will like your system enough to take the update. try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53518227
HOW Change ...... ???
Sent from my SM-T217S using XDA Free mobile app
From my understanding, as long as /system is stock, you can install the stock recovery and then take the OTA. Afterwards, you'll need to re-root your phone. Make a backup of your current setup before you get started. Once you've taken the update and get rooted again, you can always restore your backup.

Edit does not work but thanks for helping me.
Must be the fact that I am s on. We need that s off before we can do anything as far as updating
This one is tricky. I flashed the stock rooted rom from mikmik, I then unrooted and flashed the stock recovery via fast boot. When applying the Ota, it fails because the build.prop is not stock. Comes back with an error like /system/build.prop unexpected.

I just tried it to and did the same exact thing except I had boot loops as we'll.
when I flashed back to the stock recovery to take the recent OTA, I had a reboot bootloop like every 2-3 minutes, I was ready to throw the phone against a wall, then it hit that I read recently someone else had the same issue, and mentioned a factory reset fixing the issue, yup after a factory reset, the reboot bootloop was gone, I just now rerooted and flashed a backup

this might be a really stupid question (and my first post no less), but does performing a factory reset take me back to stock, unrooted form?
currently i am rooted with S-on, TWRP and Chainfire SU.
i followed a youtube video to root and im basically clueless with regards to doing anything more.
thanks in advance.

no, a factory reset will not unroot you, you need to restore a stock backup, then flash stock recovery in fastboot to unroot while s-on

Thank you. I saved a stock backup (i think) while rooting so ill see what i can do tonight. fastboot is the white background screen that uses volume buttons to select, right?

Hey everyone.
I've spent the better of the last three hour scouring the inter webs, Google, and these forums trying to find the answers to my questions - but to no avail (I've found partial answers, but I am afraid a partial answer could lead to a total brick).
Here we go:
I bought one of the first Sprint HTC One M8's through Amazon. Here are the details:
Model: 831C
Android Version 4.4.2
Software Version 1.12.651.17
Unlocked but S-On (Using TWRP)
Naturally, right out of the box I rooted it. However, I did not save the original ROM.
* I want to restore the phone to its original state so I can accept the OTA update and hopefully address the god-awful cell signal.
I've found a lot of stock recoveries online, but none that match 1.12.651.17.
Do I need to find that specific recovery to flash to my phone? Will another one work (e.g. 1.54.654.13)?
I've never worried about saving my stock recovery in the past (been rooting since the HTC Evo days) but it looks like not doing so finally caught up with me.
Thanks in advance.
PS I did find something 1.12.651.17 related here, but how to flash this to my phone (or whether or not it will brick) is beyond me. I've downloaded all 6 files and am waiting to figure out how the heck to get them to my phone.
