long time iphone user here just moved over to the moto x. The only thing that is hard for me is the lack of outlook's suggested contacts. IOS was great about picking up on those so I could email I had ever emailed from my phone without the contact being saved. Android doesn't seem to do this auto so I'm hoping there is a setting somewhere that I can enable this priceless functionality.
Did you check the Outlook's app in the play store? It might be able to do that.

That feature is missing with Android's Exchange ActiveSync connection. I know iOS devices can sync contacts subfolders (which is what the Suggested Contacts folder is).

Interesting. This is a feature I'm going to miss coming from the HTC mail app.
Does Touchdown use it's own address book, or does it use the standard one?

Anyone found an APP that will work with Hotmail with a Captivate? Stock, tablet and even K-9 don't support it. There must be a decent one out there! Thanks!

Stock email app works like a charm with hotmail. I got 2 accounts configured under it and my local provider email also. Never had issues getting hotmail.
If you want to fully managed your hotmail (delete mails on server) then your right default email app on the cappy cannot do it but it can fetch the mail.
EDIT: Tried delete on the server option and it works. Fluke bug probably.
Do a Google search on "Hotmail activesync android" and you should be on your way use stock email to do push Hotmail. server deletion is supported last time I checked.

Correct .. last time i tried it failed miserably.. maybe just a bug or a bad connection.
Haven't tried it personally, but I do use Maildroid for gmail,Yahoo, and my ISP email. All set to push, even free Yahoo.
I used the exchange server for hotmail on my Captivate, worked fine with the stock email. Set it up as exchange, using m.hotmail.com as the server. Your username is your full email address. I don't have a Captivate anymore so I don't know if you need anything else (like port numbers). Google should give you the rest.
Also, if you set it up as exchange you can choose to sync your contacts and calendar with hotmail.

According to SplashGear, Google will release new GMail app (what version?) that allow multiple sign-in and also have option to sign-out.
I personally think it's great and look forward to see it.
Market still has 2.3.5 as the latest though.

You know this is for the gmail on the web not the actual gmail app. If you look at the picture that you see in the link, you will see its for the website version of gmail.

Google updated its Gmail for mobile browsers today by adding the much desired multiple sign-in feature as well as more settings options. Unlike the desktop version of Gmail, the mobile version has not supported multiple sign-ins for managing more than one email account until now.

I thought I saw the ability to add multiple accounts in the Android Gmail application. (Gmail 2.3.5) I will have to verify if you can be logged into both accounts simultaneously.

This has been possible for quite some time(have been doing it since I first bought a droid 1.
in the gmail app you go menu>accounts>add account. Both can be set to sync, and you can send mail from either
is google gonna ever give us the option of disabling conversion view or enabling it in their mobile app just as they did with desktop email

Just wondering if anyone may have some tricks or suggested Email apps for me.
Basically I do a lot of emails to a "group" I have set up in Google Contacts. Now on my phone which is running HTC Sense I can add the group to the recipient fields no problem. On the Touchpad running CM9 I can't seem to find an option to allow the same.
So my assumption is that it has to.do.with the AOSP email app, but I have tried k9 as well to no avail...
Is there a way to allow groups from contacts to be added or do I need to find a different app.... Any suggestions?
Thanks

Groupu works but you must install the Gmail app also and use that to send your group emails as it wll not work with the stock app .
Took a while to figure it out but it does the job .
I hope this helps.
Hi Folks,
I've come from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to a new shiny HTC One which was delivered a couple of hours ago. Just getting set up and was wondering whats your preference for email setup. With my company using Google Apps i've always just gone ahead and used Gmail but was wondering if the 'Mail' app was any better?
Regards
Sam
They are both really good, I guess if you have multiple email accounts the mail app is better than the dedicated gmail one because you could easily switch between accounts

I use the Mail app because I have 4 email accounts so easier to manage, I would still use this app if I only had one gmail account tbh, its much cleaner looking.
Gmail definitely. Don't like the native app.
Probably no help but I have been using both the HTC native mail app as well as the Gmail app. Personally I like the look and feel of the native app but I think I have been just to used to running my email accounts on separate apps, hasn't hurt me yet.

Hi All....i had a similar question. I am having a difficult time with the native email app that it wont scale my e-mails to fit the screen. Can someone please help me with this. The gmail app does it automaticaly....but i cant get the HTC one native app to do the same.
I'm looking for an email app that can handle multiple email accounts. Originally I was using both GMail and Outlook but as soon as GMail started adding ads that could not be deleted I dropped both apps and switched back to Aqua Mail. Now I'm having a problem with Aqua Mail and can't get a resolution from the official forums.
I've since switched to Blue Mail but it seems to be a heavy app and is draining my battery. Plus, I don't get any type of notification when I get emails even though I have it setup to do so.
So, what is everyone using and what can you suggest?
I use K9
Gesendet von meinem XT1052 mit Tapatalk
I used to use K9 as well, but there was something really goofy about their UI I didn't like. I'll give them a go again.
OK, I tried it again, now I remember why I didn't like it. I use Hotmail/Outlook and I can receive emails but can't send them.
I use Aquamail

I've been using Aquamail for years. But about 3 days ago it stopped working. I asked about it on their forums and got no answer. This isn't the first time I've had problems with Aquamail; I've tried to stay loyal to it since I paid for it. But I'm just sick of it working, then not working for no apparent reason.
I just installed K9 this morning. Seems to be working well enough for now. I haven't had time to sit down and mess with some of it's features yet.
Mail Droid
I have been using Maildroid for some time and highly recommend it. It is highly customizable and easily supports multiple accounts. The developer quickly responds to problems and there is decent web support.
I use [email protected], don't know why I never went to K9. Works well with multiple accounts and PGP integration. Couldn't ask for anything more.
+1 for Maildroid
What's wrong with the stock one? Mine checks an exchange account and 2 imap accounts just fine.

I too have same problem before ... just now switched to Thunderbird ... its open source and stable... we can get it for windows and Mac .... But there is no official Android application from mozilla.... am using third party android application at this moment, try and let me know your feedback

I remember using MailDroid years ago when it first came out. Haven't given it a second look before today. It looks like it's got a lot of really nice features. I'm downloading it now.
Stock email client is very good. Just don't use it for gmail. It will kill your battery from my experience.
Works fine for all my other accounts (exchange, yahoo, etc).
myMail works great....

+1 for AquaMail. That's the only email app I can find according to my needs. Another decent one is infamous K9. GMail is the worst email app I have ever used, I uninstall it practically after flashing a new ROM / wiping the phone.
I use stock for hotmail and gmail only issue I have for the exchange hotmail is you can't empty the trash in one click.

I had been using Aquamail for the past several years. Except about a week ago Gmail stopped syncing to it and I couldn't get it working. I also got not answer on the Aquamail forums. Decided it was time to move on.

The only reason I stopped using Gmail is because of their new ad feature. They send you ads that are disguised as emails and then don't allow you to delete them. Once I dropped Gmail I dropped Exchange as well and went back to Aquamail. Aquamail stopped working three months after I put it on my phone. So it got dropped too. I tried Droidmail, didn't like some of it's features. I'm currently using K9.
I use Inomail. Handles multiple accounts as well as allows html signatures. IMAP, POP, and all the others.

Did you try "SPARROW" Email app ?
