Ok, its that time now!
Attention Android Themers! Project Theme Manager is a Go!
We are opening our newest project to the public in Beta form. Now is your chance if you want to be a part of this exciting new project!
The public website is at http://n3xgenapps.com and registration is free and open.
To Android Themers:
We need your assistance in getting this project off the ground. Without your themes in the public listing, this project is completely useless. For that reason, we are not releasing the Android App just yet. I'm sure you know the public would tear it apart in the market with bad reviews for lack of theme choice and 1 stars, etc.
Feel free to join us on Freenode IRC (#N3xGenApps) at any time for more information or to give some feedback, or even just to chat.
To the rest of the public:
The android app is in the market and FREE to everyone! Go grab your copy and get your theme on! https://market.android.com/details?id=com.n3xgenapps.theme.manager
Thanks, and as always, enjoy!

★ You can now view an image in full screen.
★ Bug fixed (Hopefully, let me know if otherwise via email).
★ Added an all apps tab inside each theme section.
New Site Features
★ Added a donate button.
★ Developers can now have multiple categories per theme.
★ A new advanced edit screen to edit your existing themes.
More changes are in the near future as well.

Nice app - telling all my friends to add their themes in
Presumably once non-market themes can be uploaded MIUI themes could be added too.

Right now it only downloads themes from the market like ADW, LP, GOLauncher, and ThemeChooser. But we are working on adding in developer uploads (and/or outside linking to files), which will allow for rooted theming to take place (update.zip and metamorph, etc).
very nice, very fast. More theme and this is the best app for themes XD i love it
http://n3xgenapps.com/blog/Compatibility-fixes-with-Theme-Manager-app-now-in-market!
We've fixed some compatibility issues and now support down to 2.1 Eclair API (update is in the market). This should make the app more widely available among devices.
We also have an apk for 1.6 Donut API, but we're still testing it at the moment. Expect to see this pushed to market later tonight or early tomorrow.
Question regarding the themes - let's say I'm a themer from a google-checkout-unsupported-country (thank you, google...) and I have a LP theme I've put on sale through paypal, for a buck - and I'd like to expand the audience.
Shortly - does this hypothetical (ekhm, http://blazingdroid.blogspot.com/2011/08/dark-metro-solid-black.html ) theme has to be already available in the android market as a paid app if I'd like to submit it to you (which means you don't handle the accounting), or somehow you've just discovered a savior-solution for a lot of people who are in a situation like mine?
Because, you know, that would be simply awesome. Paypal mobile payments library perhaps? Simple concept - theme preview in Theme Manager, user taps buy button > webView opens within the app (users don't like the browser popping up), user inputs his paypal credentials (or the browser, if it already had them rembered)> user taps buy button > theme apk automatically downloads to a folder on sd card, Theme Manager applies it. Done. Snappy.
EDIT
feature request - fullscreen preview screenshots. The existing ones, well, they're available, but my guess is users want bigger ones. More details.

I wish there was a way to do that, but unfortunately we are requiring all paid themes submitted to our app to be directed through the official android market (for legal reasons).

EDIT: Actually, this is already been updated and is in the market.
Yup, just been reading your site, the update notice.
Screenshots yeah
Fast responsive developer - tick.
Great idea for an app - tick.
Neat, jazzy execution - tick.
Ease of use - tick.
Large theme database - pending.
You know where it goes? To a sccessfull business model.
Lots of normal, xda-unaware users would gladly see a tool for better theme management. This is it. With time, it will get more publicity. Become more popular. Spread as the preferred way, easy, hassle-free way to apply themes - at least for the standard users.
Cause installing a custom rom and theming it top to bottom requires root, and root requires lose of warranty, and 95% of people like their warranties more.. Plain simple.
____
Edit: Just added my theme.
Feature request - clickable hyperlinks in the theme description. They're kinda vital for the ease user experience You know, quick setup guide [here], some hints [there], a resource pack of icons, walls [there], contact dev [my site].
small bug - '&' turns into '&'
Updated the app and the site.
Details in O.P.
Enjoy!
As a filmmaker, I shoot several different types of videos. One thing I have been trying to do is find a cost efficient teleprompter. With so many inexpensive tablets on the market, using an Android app seems like the most logical solution to this problem. I have tried several apps so far but none of them seem to fit my needs 100%.
I am not a developer, I am a filmmaker. I do however, have spoke to a developer interested in helping me solve my problem by creating a app from the ground up that is design exactly how I want it to be with the functionality that it needs. Before embarking on this task I would like to get some feedback from other video professionals and app developers alike on things ranging from currently available apps, things that are wrong with currently available apps & features that would be included in The Perfect Teleprompter App.
I expect that there will be a lot of responses that say there are options currently available and that the need for yet another teleprompter app does not exist. That being said, unless I find an app that has an interface that I like, the functionality that I need and the peripherals to make it even better, I will probably continue to pursue this project. THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD is to allow other filmmakers to provide their input and thoughts about what the perfect teleprompter app would be.
Features I currently have in mind (This list will change as I receive feedback. ):
Clean, Usable Interface
Dropbox and Google Drive Access
In App Editing
Speed Control during prompting
Text Size Options
Light & Dark themes
Movable Location Arrow (An arrow on the side of the screen that allows you to move it vertically to show the target location of the line being read.)
Bluetooth connection so your phone could be used as a remote.
Wired remote option
Mirror Mode
Scroll to any part of the script and start it rolling from that location
Free, fully functional version (No Ads)
Custom app branding (change splash screen to display your companies logo)
I want this thread to be a way for all of us to collaborate and make an app that we all enjoy using. It is a big project for me to take on and because of that, I feel it would be silly to keep it all to myself. Please post any suggestions, questions, idea or concerns. My goal for this project is to finally provide a teleprompter that does exactly what we need it to do as a producers. Thank you for the help and feedback and hopefully together we can get this app launched for everyone to use.
Thank you so much,
zpeverman
Hey everyone,
I'm wondering what is everybody doing to stay on top of competing apps and other app market changes? What tools do you use? I've been working on a project to solve this problem and I'd love some input and feedback.
Thanks!
Here are some basicly tools for it: (1)appinner.com, it is an app internal data analysis platform, with it you can find which advertising platform sdk your competitor choose, how does they construt their apps, etc.
(2)flurry. it is a tool to track your apps performance, give you detailed insight in your users count, session length etc. (3)appannie. you can check the keywords and ranking List of apps.
https://sensortower.com is a must check. It will give you very valuable insight on what to do and what not about keywords and rankings (with a pretty cool daily email that reports you all you need to know about your app and his ranking).
As JimmyG20 said too, appannie is a must check too.
4 Simple Ways to Monitor Your Competitor's -
1. Sign up to receive their email or newsletter
2. Explore their website
3. Like and follow on social networks
4. Give them a call.
Useful sources to track
Hey,
These may be:
Sensortower with TOP charts
Appannie - also store stats
Statista sometimes publishes the stats abour certain apps
I've published my additions to the tasker applock on the wiki page. This is my first attempt at programming in tasker and I'm pretty proud of it. Keep in mind I'm not a programmer I'm a bus driver. If you have any suggestions on how to improve my methods please feel free to share.

First, I applaud you. Not just for giving Tasker a shot, but posting and sharing. Its an app that's more powerful than any other app, probably by a Dev that's more powerful than 99% any other dev. Like Tasker and Xposed devs (chainfire too) would cure all bad things if they joined forces. So the learning curve is STEEEEEEP and since there's about 2000 other ways to do whatever it is anyone is doing in Tasker, it's very very daunting. Kudos.
Now having said that, I instantly turn away from anything with an "app context" in Tasker as it uses polling which will inevitably crush battery life.
I refuse... REFUSE to have a single profile that utilizes it, (and have completely removed all WAIT actions from my tasks too.. Just bragging here)
I would rather see something that utizes shell commands or permission settings on the package before app polling. Just my thoughts and has NOTHING to do with your tasks. Just sharing my ideas
I am interested in placing a google Home mini in my old parents home and have it remind them of tasks and activities they should be doing every day.
Once the time of the task is over, ask them simple canned questions like did you do it? did you go there? was the task completed? and based on the answer to log the results in a table I will create to follow up on them living the plan we put together.
Their daily plan will be in an online table list of activities I will be creating as an excel table on a weekly basis.
The initial challenge is to turn a task list into scheduled reminders that will be read out loud at the set times on their mini speaker.
The other Challenge is to ask if the tasks was completed and the score they gave to it and and log it in the table I will read daily.
Is someone here familiar enough with Google home to help create the solution?
Thanks in Advance
Dany
Hello, I think that your question is very interesting.
I don't have much experience with google home but what you are trying to achieve should be doable.
I think that you could schedule a custom routine (https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7029585?co=GENIE.Platform=Android&hl=en) that triggers a custom action (that will handle the conversation to acknowledge the task and store this information in your online excel table). The most tricky part is obviously the custom action. I think that you have at least 2 options here:
1) writing you custom action with the Action SDK (https://developers.google.com/actions/sdk/), mainly in Javascript creating a Node.js app running for example on Firebase (aka Google cloud).
2) using a platform called dialogflow (https://dialogflow.com/) to create the action without programming.
You can find some examples here: https://developers.google.com/actions/samples/github
Keep us posted!
If you are a programmer, you can develop a little software in python using a script that send programmaticaly voice to google home. I wrote a post on my blog www dot gioexperience com. Sorry but in XDA I cannot write links
On my blog you can see how to send programmaticaly in python voice command to google home without human interaction... also detect and erase alarms ecc ecc
