Maybe what happened to you is that you had flashed a custom recovery, but then in the next reboot the stock recovery was automatically re-flashed.
Try to install custom recovery by Terminal Emulator, then reboot to recovery right after you flashed using command code. I believe you can search for this inside our Atrix HD forum sector.
If you can boot to CWM recovery, there will be a CWM icon instead of an Android bot with its belly opened as in Stock recovery.
Good luck.
Done
Ok thanks too much!! just need instal the Recovery, after that the installation of CM run and installation finished as normal!! there is a new version of CM 10.1 stable, it was what I flash it!!

EDIT: Problem solved!
Hi all,
I just tried to install CWM Recovery on a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000, and it didn't work.
The phone was (originally) running under Android Froyo (2.2), and unrooted. First of all, I used UnlockRoot to root it, and it worked fine. I checked the root access right after using dedicated apps (rootChecker, sdMaid, etc), to confirm.
Then I wanted to install a ClockWorkMod recovery. I followed this guide (on the CyanogenMod wiki). I downloaded and installed Kies to have the USB drivers installed. Then I downloaded Heimdall (my computer is running under Windows 7) + hardcore CMW Kernel. I booted into download mode, then installed the driver. (Step 2 on the tutorial). Then next step was flashing the kernel. It suceeded, and the phone powered off. Turning it on, it just starts to make endless boot loops. The system won't start running, and it is not possible to access to the CWM recovery menu. But the download mode is still available.
So, does anyone have pointers to help me fix this issue ? i would like to have CMW installed, and then install a custom ROM (the latest Jelly Bean based Cyanogenmod release).
Thanks in advance.
Just try again installing stock Rom with odin
See my post Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994759
Hi Donovan,
Thanks for the swift answer. And yes, it definitely worked. I downloaded this stock rom, and I flashed it successfully with Odin v3 1.85. I am running now under Android 2.3.6, but I lost the root access. Rooting it won't be a problem, hopefully. I still have access to the download mode, and to the stock recovery. I'll try once again to dive into the ClockWorkMod Recovery, and then install a Jelly Bean rom.
I'm hitting the thanks button right after posting this.
Thanks back at ya. Cf root you can find here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Dont forget the wiping before flashing jb.
Most times u have 2 flash custom twice.
If first time hangs just pull battery out, get in recovery & flash second time or third if its needed.
If it says install completed then its done
Much pleasure flashing the i9000
Actually, I spoke to fast, the problem just got much worse.
Okay, just after flashing the stock rom (2.3.6), everything was fine. Then I downloaded the latest stable CM10 (direct link).
I booted into recovery mode (CWM Recovery, actually) and I did try to install (i din't not forget wiping data/cache, dalvik and batt stats), but it failed, saying the package was incorrect. I tried many times, copying again and again the zip file, same problem.
Then I downloaded a previous version, CM9. I tried to installed it, and i run into a very weird error, saying an assertion failed when trying to install the package.
Something like;
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" || getprop ("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" ... getprop ("ro.build.device") = GT-I9000 etc...
Click to collapse
And then installation program aborts (error code 7.)
My assumption, is that it looks like my phone is no longer being considered by a samsung gt i9000, according to the installer. Weird, though...
Now, I still have access to the recovery. But the phone can't boot, as everything was wiped. Much worse, I can switch to download mode, but i can't flash back the stock rom, Odin can't detect the phone (I tried with Odin v3 1.82, 1.83 and 1.87).
I'm getting desperate, any pointers ?
Thanks in advance!
Did u try to flash the custom more then 1 time?
Oh yes, I did it like a dozen of times. And I still get the same error.

gti9000 rooting
Hi Donovan, could you help me please:fingers-crossed:
I've purchased a unlocked galaxy s gti9000 and I want to root it. Something I've never done on any phone as I'm a complete noob. I managed to install XWJW1 FIRMWARE. I've now got as follows PDA:I9000XWJW6
PHONE: I9000XWJW1
CSC: I9000XSAJV8.
All the links to the file for rooting seem to be dead. I've found some for rooting XXJVU, But that's not right is it? I would really like to try ICS or Jelly Bean. I must admit I'm nervous about this as it's taken me a while to get a phone as good as this one!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
@Nooga:There is a very complete and straightforward guide here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546). You might want to take a look at it.
Now can we please come back on my topic ? Thanks!

Thanks Roland will give it a try tonight.
Well, that is now solved. I tried something silly that ended up working fine.
As the cm9-smtd update package couldn't run (because of the assertion fail), I just opened the zip package, then edited the file META-INF/com/android/google/updater-script.
I basically removed the assert statement at the top of the file.
CMW recovery installed it properly, without any err. I now have an ICS based rom (Cyanogen Mod 9).
Problem definitely solved now. Going to make a Nandroid backup.
Thanks all, again.
So, I have a problem.
I have rooted Optimus 2X and installed CWM- based recovery v6.0.1.5 and I wanted to give CM10 a shot...
But, when I tried to install zip it said installation aborted, so I thought maybe it was the recovery, but when I try to find another recovery in rom manager, it says that my phone isn't on the list...
What should I do?

i think the problem is not the cwm but the bootloader... you should know there are two one based on GB one based on ICS and you can't install an Rom for new bootloader (ics) on the old bootloader (gb) and vice versa.
mostly in the post it's told if new or old bootloader.
hope that helped hit thanks if did

have u done this ?
this is from pengus77 cm10 rom thread:
If you come from any ICS with unlocked bootloader (Topogigi, Carburano, etc...):
1) grab the recovery zip and the cm10 zip attached to this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1602866&d=1356865579)
2) enable debug in developer options (if you haven't already of course)
3) connect the usb cable to your box
4) copy the two zips in your external sd card
5) reboot to recovery by holding power and volume down
5) wipe data/cache, then go to mounts and format system (just to be safe)
6) flash the recovery zip file you previously slapped in the external sd card
7) reboot recovery from the advanced menu
8) flash the cm10 zip as usual

Not sure your bootloader was locked or not. I suggest, you refer to AIO toolkit thread in dev section and start afresh.

CM10 for which bootloader? If you are on the ICS bootloader, you cannot install official CM builds. You will have to get Pengus' unofficial build for the new bootloader (which has lots of bugs fixed anyway).

Firstly, you will probably have to restore your partitions with the AIO tool now you have flashed a zip for the wrong bootloader.
When you have done that, look in the development section for roms for the new bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1002
I recommend tonyp's Paranoid Android- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097807
Or Pengus's CM10 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2058231
There are CM10.1 roms for the new bootloader available as well. Just have a look in the development section

Device: HTC One (Sprint)
Hello All, Following the steps here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 I managed to..
Successfully unlock the bootloader.
Successfully install Clockwork recovery mod using the 6.0.3.2 Sprint version.
Installed Android HD 12 from clockwork recovery. Install goes off without a hitch. Phone reboots into bootloader over and over again. I can't get out of it if I try to hit POWER DOWN or REBOOT it keeps going back to bootloader. It also will not let me enter Recovery anymore it just goes back to the bootloader screen. I tried fastboot erase cache, which did not do anything.
Please help!?
Fastboot flash a different recovery and then in recovery you can adb push a ROM file to your SD card.

I flashed TWRP and tried installing Android HD again but same thing. Im going to try a different mod perhaps that is the problem?
Maybe try reading the thread. ARHD 12 is not compatible with the sprint One. And don't post in the development section unless you're developing something

Sprint doesn't have the ability to flash any 4.2.2 ROMs so you need something that's either built from source like cm or aokp or need to find a 4.1.2 ROM.

So I installed cyanogenmod following this guide off the wiki: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_z3c and I'm able to reach Cyanogen recovery, but when the guide tells me to install my update packages, I've got no clue where to find these and a reboot results in a bootloop. Could someone guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I tried using Cm before for Z3C. I installed it, coming from a Stock ROM using TWRP. I'm personally not a fan of the CM Recovery as it has Zip Signature Verification turned on permanently so its a real pain. I suggest you install coming from stock using twrp rather than attempting for a dirty flash ( installing custom rom over another custom rom )
Good luck!
Hi guys, my name is Ali Reza. I have a Samsung Galaxy SII I9100. When I first got this phone, I rooted it and wanted to flash a custom recovery to flash ROMs, but I couldn't. I tried everything.
1) Flashable Zip File
2) Odin
3) Flashify and other apps
4) Heimdall Suite
But nothing worked for me
I managed to install CWM Touch Recovery using the kernel for Android 5.1.1 but I can only flash ROMs whose android version is 5.1.1. I want to flash Android 7.1 that is the Lineage OS on my device. For that I require TWRP recovery. I searched for this on all websites. Some say that before flashing TWRP recovery I require TWRP kernel. I searched for the kernel but couldn't find it. Some say that before flashing the latest version, we need to flash the old version, and using that recovery we have to update TWRP to the latest version. I tried that but I failed. Plz help me install TWRP on my device or plz provide me the kernel for android 7.1.1. Thank You

Have you tried unchecking the "reboot" option in odin when flashing twrp and then manually power off and boot directly to recovery with 3 buttons combo? Make sure you boot first to twrp rather than android. Tell if it worked
