What's with the running service, ' alarm service' for the market? Its always running and I want it gone.

So it's come to my attention that the thank-you system on XDA is a method by which people's contribution to XDA is measured.
For instance, a developer provides a new custom ROM that is well liked: BAM! he receives thank-you's.
In noticing all this, I've come to realize that there are a lot people who just aren't thanked enough.
My solution: I'll thank you.
Create a post identifying yourself, and thank me, and I'll thank you right back. In this way, everyone wins!

God, it smacks of having fake friends on facebook, or even creating fake profile which are used just to direct appreciation to the real profile. (See Ebay scammers et al). I feel violated at the merest suggestion that the same tactics would be employed here!
The thanks system works a treat as it is, and if it inspires people to raise their game and think more about the usefullness of what they're posting then we all win. What we don't need is a corrupt and fake immitation of the system!

I brought Blackberry 9530 Verizone phone from US.
In Korea, there's few Blackberry users only, not a popular as US or oher countries.
Anybody can help me unlock my Blackberry Storm? I just need to use for E-mail communication.

Hmmm wow, is that the new Samsung because it looks very similar to a Motorola! seriously? You must have known you'd get a load of verbal for posting something like that in the Galaxy S3 Development section....perhaps you'd be better off in the Motorola Development section. Yes, it's true. After remaining thanked 109 times for several months, someone actually had the audacity to thank me one more time, thus bringing my thanks count up to 110.
This so infuriated the moderators that the thanks system has been permanently disabled.
Perhaps a "hate" count system could be implemented ?

My thread talking about no thanks in OT did not even get locked. Straight to deletion. I've yet to hear a sensible reason why eliminate "thanks" just in OT. I understand a new system is being tested and will soon be implemented in all forums, but why single out OT?

Lol, your right, though I've seen others take it far more seriously.

This is a pointless thread. The admins made a decision. A decision I agree with and makes a lot of sense. The thanks function is designed to be used when someone has helped regarding the actual purpose of the site, which is mobile device development. None of which occurs in the Off-topic section. Further discussion of this is bound to create arguments and controversy, therefore thread closed.
