"Your warranty is now void. We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at any of us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Collectively, and at the same time."

You need a recovery that supports the 4.3 file system. I am not 100% sure which it is for this device. What do they recommend for cm10.2?

I honestly haven't check but so far this one is working it's considered twrp2 since I have the zip in my SD card n after u flashed it it gave me that version... Hope I'm good with that...

Working on new builds tonight merged up with cm and using stock cm kernel, I just removed Focal all together I merged with the Dev who makes it and since I merged it up to date it has not worked on my Hercules. It is available in Market now anyway. It will be a few hours before builds are done and uploaded.
Not many of you are giving any feedback, May give up on this device...

Well there are not many of us with this device. I can say that I sure appreciate the development attention, as we haven't ever gotten much. I especially appreciate the custom kernel, as there is no other developer giving us those performance options, nor has there ever been that I can see.
I have flashed just about every Hellybean nightly, and am impressed with the rom. There are a couple of show-stoppers though that are present here and also on all 4.3 ROM's:
1. The video camera is unstable and using it eventually will bind up the camera process, requiring a reboot or task killer work to get it back, and 2. VOIP apps do not work and using them kills the sound requiring a reboot. The camera is pretty critical to a phone these days, for most of us it serves as our only camera. The VOIP thing is critical for me for work, so there's that.
I understand if you drop it, but hope that you don't. Also hope you keep compiling the custom kernel, as it works well, and Cyanogen sources have not meant stability for this or the i717 for quite some time. We've been doing the Random Reboot dance with CM since end of April and the last "M" release.

I have tried this and other 4.3 ROMs. I prefer this one. I cannot use it full time as the Bluetooth, as in most newer ROMs, is unstable. The work is much appreciated though.
Sent from my SGH-T879 using Tapatalk 2

So far it has all the 4.2 and above problems like will not power down when plugged in. FCs to blue/green screen then random reboots. These are not problems with your build(CM10.1 and higher). So far your build and kernel have worked awesome except on my phone (I haven't had time to get you a logcat, I've been busy moving). They are right about there not really being a lot of users for this phone, it wasn't really available for very long, but we are quite grateful though. Figured it out fast charge is working (user error).

You're right, Wi-Fi isn't working. I'll look into this and see what I can come up with. Sorry everyone, I know it was working before in the first update. The only thing I can think of, is that it's an issue with the new CyanogenMod kernel. I'll do some troubleshooting and get back with you guys.
Probably should've checked this last night, right after making the kernel switch. Guess I made kinda made a... N00B ...mistake. Huh?
Edit: Yup, it's a kernel issue. If you're running the first SuperNexus 4/7/13 build, I suggest against updating to build4-update1 for the moment. If you've already updated, flashing the Semaphore kernel will fix the Wi-Fi issue. When I get home I'll look into solving the CyanogenMod kernel issue, but for now, stick with Semaphore. All be good with Semaphore.
Edit 2: Fixed the WiFi issues, checkout build4-update2. :good:

True, however, I believe I've solved the issue with the CyanogenMod kernel. After a lot of trial and error, I narrowed down the culprit to the modules folder. After some research and a little mo' trial and error, I was able to find the module that needed to be swapped out.
Expect an update sometime tonight... With workin' WiFi baby! Aw yeah! :victory:

cannondaleV2000 seems pretty eager to port it for you, so that's an option. Another option would be for me to type you up a guide on porting ROMs to your device (shout-out to skinzy98 and jrongi1). Either way works for me. If you're interested in the guide, don't hesitate to PM me.
Anyhow, I believe we may be getting semi off-topic. So, to get back on topic, I gotta ask... Is that WiFi a "hell to the yeah" everybody?

* Set flash to disable if battery is below 10% to prevent the random shut-off when taking a pic
* Removed/Disabled KSM
* Removed ZRAM
* User-configurable GPU OC (Not OC'd by default)
* Optimized and compiled with with the "Optimize a lot, or -o3 option)
* Added more I/O schedulers
* Tweaked voltages a bit
* Reverted CRT hack to smooth animation in Android 4.2.2
* Increased PMEM_MDP as it is needed in Android 4.2.2 to fix soft-reboots
* PM_FAST enabled by default (high power wi-fi when screen is off)
These settings were changed by Albinoman to help make the kernel more stable with our ROM, observed with tests by him. If you want more features of the Sultan kernel feel free to flash it, but support will not be provided in this thread.
Other Features of the kernel include:
* OC to 1866Mhtz (default 1566Mhtz)
* Undervolted
* User-configurable CPU OC
* User-configurable CPU default governor (ondemand = default)
* User-configurable I/O scheduler (default = SIO)
* User-configurable badass gonvernor (default = balanced)
You can edit many of the settings in /system/etc/init.d/99kernel,
Bugs
* MHL doesn't work
* back cam recording freezes if stopped after 30sec
* Random FC on certain apps. Pac problems
* Toggles in settings not working. You have to go into the setting (wifi,bluetooth, etc)
* You tell me!
Notes
* As of AOSP 4.2.2 ADB now has a whitelist feature. On first connect with adb it will say device offline You need to update your ADB then with the phone connected. Disable and Re-Enable Android Debugging in the Developer Options menu. It will ask if you want to accept and show the PC's RSA key. Select Yes and it will now work as expected
* If you are having a lot of soft reboots when waking the device set you min CPU freq. to 384htz in Performance settings.
* If you are coming from another ROM i highly recommend you perform and Wipe Date/Factory Reset in recovery menu when applying this ROM.
* The gapps linked to does not have photosphere. As far as i know it's not supposed to. If you want photophere search for the flashable zip
* If you can't get MMS to work. Send yourself a MMS. or just wait a day. eventually they will work again
* For the best battery life I suggest the stock settings with the exception of the ONDEMAND governor. Switching to BADASS will yield best battery results

looking real good, mic works!
I have the same problem as in the 4.2.2, no phone reception, though data works and Wi-Fi.
would you mind telling me how I could extract the radio file from Telstra stock rom and adding it to your rom?? it might help a lot of Aussies get good reception
thank you

Go Settings > wifi > [menu soft key] > advanced; turn off "scanning always on". That is on by default.
Then go to GPS in Settings and turn off Location Access if you haven't already.
That brought down Google Services battery usage down to 15% from 54%. It still shouldn't be so high bit I don't know what else to do. If you have Google Maps 7.x then turn off location access in that too. It is separate to the OS service for some reason now.
---------- Post added at 02:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 AM ----------
Also, I'd like to report some bugs. After reboot my app shortcuts on my homescreens are messed up. Folders do not contain all the apps I placed in them and some shortcuts are on the wrong screen. Widgets appear unaffected but I haven't tested that.
Also, the camera is a black screen until after a few attempts to focus on a chosen point. Then it overexposes the image.
I'm not sure if my reception is weaker as the 4.2.2 PAC rom didn't display reception properly. It displays properly the icon and text/dBm.
Electron beam shutoff animation blinks strangely (not sure if you can fix that) it worked so smoothly in 4.2.2.
And it appears that the random pause during music and video playback that I experienced in 4.2.2 is gone.
I blame tyler.
Otherwise this rom is a big improvement over 4.2.2 with the smoothness and speed.

This ROM is based on the Android Open Kang Project (AOKP). The idea to start a ROM based off AOKP with added features for us was started out of curiosity and boredom. We started compiling ROMs for personal use and later started sharing them. After sharing it with a few people, we decided to take it a step further and fine tune the way we do things. Since then, is been nothing but fun and a true learning experience for all of us involved. We've received high praise from not only users but fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. Our 4.2.2 version made it onto various devices to include the HTC One, Galaxy Nexus, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO LTE, Nexus 4 and some other devices. We hope to do the same with our 4.3 version.
"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....

That looks to be dashclock. It's built into a lot of ROMs, but if it's not it's called DashClock in Play Store and you'll have to get extensions to show the extra info.
This is lagging quite a bit for me. Do 4.3 ROMS do that? There's a kernel compatibility issue right now isn't there?

Edit* I'm still getting slight lag after mounting sys and factory reset. What kernel is suggested? Also, are we supposed to get the Google startup prompt after flashing Gapps? Cause I don't.

I just ran the stock kernel, so I can't comment about the best kernel to use. However, I got the same thing with Google when I flashed this. I just had to add account in the settings menu. I've had few ROMs do this to me.

Team HellKat Proudly Presents
HELLKAT for the Samsung Galaxy S 4 (jflte)!!!!
(jflteatt, jfltecan, jfltecri, jfltecsp, jfltespr, jfltetmo, jflteusc, jfltevzw, jfltexx)
HellKat is CM11 based with a completely redone beautiful Holo Red theme. You'll probably notice a difference between HellKat and CM nightlies (or the virgin AOSP builds) due to the LINARO 4.8 toolchain we use to compile the ROMs. HellKat was first created by DerTeufel during Jellybean and was called Hellybean. We now support several devices and with a new build server we will be able to bring this beautiful ROM to even more devices. If you have another device supported by CM you more than likely can build HellKat for your other device. We have a nice build script so that the hardest part of building HellKat is setting up Ubuntu and an Android developing environement. Checkout our sources at https://github.com/Hellybean/android
Here is a quick list of our differences from CM:
- RED THEMED!!!
- AWESOME RED DEVIL DROID WALLPAPER!!!
- Init.d Tweaker built into the settings menu
- LCD Density Changer built into settings
- Option to add date to status bar (Thanks Slim)
- DARK System UI (Thanks Slim)
- Build.prop injector
- Transparency options for notification drawer
- Force High End Gfx (Thanks SGT7)
- Transparency option and Blur for Lockscreen (Thanks PA)
- List View Animations
- Large recents, recents color, dual pane prefs options (Thanks SGT7)
- Options to disable bootanimation and wallpaper
- Lockscreen ring battery
- Dual Panel settings
- CM Screen Security settings
- Ability to change tile colors and transparency
- NavBar Dimensions
- Movable Sizable Halo windows
- swipe anywhere on notification panel to switch views
- BatteryBar
- Quick Tiles Flip animation
- Quick Tiles allow 3,4,5 tiles in pulldown
- Ability to change notification drawer background
- notification transparency
- Launch floating notifications from notification panel (long click)
- Ram Bar in Recents
- App Side Bar Chamelion OS
- App Side Bar Floating Window
- Recent Apps Floating Window
- TeloRadio from telo46
- Flip to Mute/Reject Call
- Open source google dialer
- Movable Clear All Button in Recents
- ScreenRecorder
- HALO)))
- More to come!!!
Things to expect in the future (because we had them in Hellybean)
- PIE (Color option included)

- and we'll probably grab more things as we go!

Just like the CM team.

I have flashed 8 ROM's in a day or more even actually debugging. I compile CM11 HK and BL all 3 CM11 based and have dirty flashed all 3 ROM's and back without wiping cache even. Just have to install GApps each time. I am on a mako and I have flashed at least 30+ times without a wipe because I test all my mako builds and debug on my mako. You can always make a backup and if you don't like our ROM go back to CM. You obviously don't have OFD yet :laugh: Be careful flashing is what got me started

Sorry for the newbie question, but i've always used sacs or negalite roms since getting my s4 and i've been accustomed to a certain file size. I dowloaded the zip and g apps and noticed the rom was only 209 mb, just wanted to check and make sure i didn't get a bad dl before i flashed.
Thanks in advance, always looking for a good rom to try

Can't get a GPS fix w/this ROM
Came from Stock-rooted 4.3. Followed instructions in OP to the letter. GPS Status app just stays at 0/0 satellites, indefinitely, and Android Device Manager can ring the device, but cannot locate it.
Kernel related? What can I try? I'm sure there's a fix... I like how the GPS toggle in the notification bar (and everywhere else) looks like a pin that you can drop in Google Maps. Location reporting, sharing, and history are all fully enabled on the GS4, but the device cannot even locate itself in any app. My GTab 2 7" running CM10.1 (4.3) has no problems with any of the above-mentioned apps/features...
Help? Anyone? My primary device for getting around is crippled.
Figures.... I download and installed 20140223 and then today 20140302 is released - lol.
Great ROM otherwise, but PLEASE give me some suggestions? I did have problems at first getting the device to have SPrint service, which I fixed by playing with the "preferred network type" setting to "LTE/CDMA/EvDO", whereas the default option on this screen (forget which one it was) would tell me the device was not activated when I tried to call my GF's phone.
I'll be here, hitting refresh every five minutes, since I need GPS to be somewhere tonight that I don't know by heart. Thanks in advance,

I'll be here, hitting refresh every five minutes, since I need GPS to be somewhere tonight that I don't know by heart. Thanks in advance,

What i had to do was go into recovery and restore a nandroid with working gps. Then with location set and a gps lock on the restored rom I rebooted back to recovery and restored Hell Kat and boom gps was working.

Damn. First time using TWRP, due to SELinux and KNOX, and the first time I've skipped the backup process... I know I can only blame myself for that, but is this GPS thing really gonna be an issue again, with the same silly downgrade fix that we saw when upgrading our S2's to ICS? Seriously?
Or by chance, does today's new build...
.... does the 20140302 build released today have any ROM or CM Upstream changes that might help?
I assume I don't need to wipe system/data when just upgrading to a newer version of HellKat?

Dirty Unicorns (DU) is a custom ROM originally based off AOKP, but now based from OmniROM. DU brings you a great mix of stability and customization. The idea to start a ROM like this was purely out of boredom, but later turned into a form of an addiction, a good one. We began to have fun while still doing things the right way. By doing so, we received high praise from not only our users but by fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. This ROM will always be free of charge without any strings attached or any of it's developers luring you into donating or any form of "pay to flash".
"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....

I'll give this a flash once i get some competent wifi and report back with logs if any issues. Thanks for the build!

Finally something in original development. Thanks.
One question. You said no issues does that mean the standard kitkat,issues aren't there? Or just other issues besides that
Either way thanks

Does knock on/off work with this ROM? Searched everywhere in settings but can't find anything.

It should be there. You dont need to enable it. It should be baked in.

I really liked it for the time i tried it but I can't get knock on/off to work for some reason. I will reflash and see if I missed anything.
Edit: Reflashed and knock on works since flashing furnace kernel.
Wooh! DU for vs980. Love it on my nexus 7 and so far runs amazingly on my phone. Thanks!!

Furnace 1.8.1 aosp for vs980.
Does anyone have 13mp camera or do you all have 8mp

Verified MD5 and clean flashed twice with TWRP 2.7.0.0... looked good but no working KnockOn/KnockOff on stock kernel, could have lived with no KnockOff but without working KnockOn had to revert back to Beanstalk. If that gets fixed, will give it another go.

You can flash furnace 1.81 for knockon. Knock off is working on default kernel.

Yes it can be flashed.
Before flashing rom+gapps, make sure to flash JB modem/radio.
I did the same thing

So I shouldn't flash 24a after I'm already on this Rom?

No, you flash the 12b radio if you want rotation. 24a radio on this rom should break your rotation.
