How do I removed this message from start up screen - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have unlocked, rooted and changed the CCID of my HTC one phone, but a message now appears during the boot process. It appears in red writing under the HTC logo, any ideas how I could removed it. I have used the search function, but I am having a mare of a day, and cant seem to find the answer, so I do apologise if this has been posted before.
the text says
"This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to do so may lead to legal action"
I used the unlock guide in this forum.
Sorry if this a stupid question.

You need to be S-OFF I believe

You can remove it with a hex edited hboot or with the Moonshine hboot
Just be careful to flash the correct hboot

With S-OFF you can flash hboot in RUU mode
find your appropriate hboot and flash it
use these commands
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip hbootfilename.zip
fastboot reboot

It's not a good idea to update your hboot
Why you ask? Because HTC adds patches to them which may or may not be something we want.

I think they will be in the "Android Development Section" i am not sure though
Anyways why are you so concerned about this message? as someone is suggesting its not safe to flash hboot..better avoid doing it
If you get back to completely stock by flashing RUU..this messsage will automatically disappear

OK if you are running the Downgrade script, just answer yes when it asks to make a goldcard. That is what is causing the CID error.

Thanks for hijacking the thread. Your question doesn't have anything to do with the topic in the title.
Anyway, in your case it sounds like you have not prepared your PC correctly. Have you installed the latest HTC drivers? Have you verfied that your phone has ADB Debugging enabled on the phone and the FASTBOOT option disabled in Settings?

Sorry for hijacking the thread . I was trying to avoid creating a separate thread for a thing that could be answered in this thread. Yes latest HTC drivers are installed, ADB debugging is enabled and FASTBOOT is disabled. also i have tried this at least 3-4 times, when i disconnect the phone after waiting for around 10mins it asks do you want to create a gold card, then i connect my phone again and press yes. Once the whole process is done and i try to run RUU it says incorrect CID.
Thanks,
Akshay

The question could have also been asked in the downgrade script thread. Go there, read the instructions, specifically the support section and post the required information.
So how can I fix the problem? I'm new to this forum and I don't know what is the next step for fixing the mess.
When I press the volume down and the power I get
Fastboot
recovery
factory reset
sim lock... (but I cant move through these options)
then SD checking \image pg....
loading failed
then CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
What is the procedure to fix this error? I can't even navigate through the options.
Does it have to do with the unlocking the boot loader in htcdev with ncredible S( asia wwe)?

Yup I created a goldcard.

Yes that's normal, the ruu cannot run on an unlocked bootloader so the script automatically locks it.
RUU didnot work, the error is that the mobile is of different version,

[Q] HTC One reboot into bootloader

Hi
My HTC One keeps rebooting into the bootloader every time i turn it on, but if i say reboot, it boots up normally.
I decided to unlock my bootloader and the root the device, but i regret after unlocking the bootloader, so i decided to lock it. But now it just says "relocked" and "security warning". The reason it annoys me, is that i can't install the latest OTA update, because it just reboots into bootloader, and when i say "reboot" it boots up normally and the update is NOT installed.
What do you think i should do?
BTW, sorry if my english isn't perfect...

Are you still using a custom recovery? You have to flash stock recovery for OTAs.
Cant help you in detail but...
-you can change "Unlocked" to "Locked" with revone S Off
-it seems like you dont have any rom installed... you should flash a stock nandroid backup.. you can found it in the general forum.

Yes, and it is S-OFF, so nothing wrong there either. Should i run an ruu? And if so should where can i find the right one? BTW, it doesn't say "security warning".

Well custom recovery won't let you get OTA. But your are S-Off :good: excellent.
So first thing I would do, is use revone to get rid of "TAMPERED" and change "RELOCKED" to "LOCKED".
Keep S-Off !!
And finally run your RUU, that would reflash hboot, stock recovery, stock radio, stock ROM... all back to stock, and you should receive the OTAs.
(Remember keep S-Off, cause once you receive the OTA it has an updated hboot which will not allow you to S-Off again)

There are plenty of RUUs here: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=M7
if you can't find one for your CID, just change it to SuperCID for the duration of the process; remember you'll only need to downgrade to be able to run revone successfully, after that you can reflash whatever ROM, firmware, etc you choose.
EDIT: nevermind the above, i misread and thought you still had s-off. my bad.
EDIT 2: did you at least flash back stock recovery? if you're still on custom recovery that will cause problems.

If I understand correctly after downloading the OTA, you try to install it. The OTA will reboot into bootloader during that process. Correct?
Can't really think of a reason it's doing that, but if it is try going to "recovery" from the bootloader menu not "reboot", and see if it starts installing.

[Q] Help! Problems to unroot M7_UL!

Hello everyone,
This is my fisrt time writing in this forum, hope you guys can share some knowledge with me. Here is my issue:
I bought a HTC One to a guy a few weeks ago with barely no use. The thing is that I didn´t know at that time that the device was rooted with the MaximusHD. When I realized about it I reset my phone to factory settings and the new 4.3 3.22.1540.1 got installed. Thought it was ok but it is still doing some weird things so I decided to unroot the device to stock, also for warranty porpuses.
The problem comes when I try to download the RUU for my device due to I cannot find it. Should I do it through other method? Do I have to S-off to downgrade and install the RUU 1.29?
My phone is the following:
M7_UL PVT Ship S-On RH
Baseband 4A.17.3250.14
Hboot 1.54.0000
OpenDSP v31.120.274.0617
It is the european unlocked/international version bought in Spain.
I would really appreciate if someone could give a hand on this and guide me in through this process. I was an iPhone guy and now I'm freaking lost.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply. I've tried to s-off my htc but it hasnt worked. So I downloaded the recovery stock version and after installing it, the device told me that my phone doesnt appear to be rooted and if i wanted to install supersu, i declined and then made a recovery. Phone looks like unrooted, although within the bootloader it still shows "tampered" and "Unlocked". The recovery mode that the phone had installed has disappeared so I dont know what to do now, should I continue to s-off the device and then put it down to hboot 1.44 and follow the unroot guide???
I would like to make sure my device is unrooted in order to gain warranty privilages just in case i need to send out my phone to htc...
Thanks!

Just a quick note here, "version-main: <blank>" I never like that.
BTW, when posting "fastboot getvar all" it's preferably to remove IMEI and s/n; we don't need to see that.
You should probably get s-off as @attanasi0 suggested and then run a "HTC__304" downgrade RUU. (You can only downgrade if you're S-Off)
Just my two cents

Right, it shows just OS- but nothing else...when i bought it the guy had installed the MaximusHD 13 and I updated through OTA to the MaximusHD 20 but wasnt going smooth so I reset it to factory settings and It installed the JB 4.3 (3.22.1540.1).
Today after trying to s-off without success, I downloaded the recovery stock version for the rom I had and flashed it and the recovery mode that I had before disappeared and the baseband upgraded to 4A.20...instead of the 4A.17 that I had before that. Did the guy who sold me the htc messed it up? is there anything I can do to set my device to factory settings?
Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it!

Well from the information available, you have
- hboot 1.54
- m7_ul
- PN0710000
- CID HTC__304
this would lead me to assume you have a 2.24.401.x based phone.
I would try to get one of the following Guru Reset ROM:
2.24.401.8 : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
2.24.401.1 : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-1-zip/
flash one of them in recovery, then follow the rumrunner steps to try to achieve S-Off.
If that is successful, then you can downgrade back to stock, using this RUU (exe): http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...1-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/
check your "fastboot getvar all" after that.
Once you've done all that you can use revone (or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477792) to remove "TAMPERED"
and also revone (or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914) to get you're phone "LOCKED" if you so wish
Keep S-Off !!

Well from the information available, you have
- hboot 1.54
- m7_ul
- PN0710000
- CID HTC__304
this would lead me to assume you have a 2.24.401.x based phone.
I would try to get one of the following Guru Reset ROM:
2.24.401.8 : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
2.24.401.1 : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-1-zip/

Thanks for the help. I have downloaded the Rom you gave me the link for but I dunno how to flash it due to I lost access to the teamwin recovery mode and when I click recovery onto the bootloader it goes to a black screen with a caution simbol in red and I have to reboot it.
I have tried with the goomanager to flash that rom but it doesnt let me. Any advice in this regard? I can tell goomanager to find an open recovery script (openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-m7.img), should i do this? Or Im gonna end up with a bricked phone?
Thanks!

"black screen with a caution simbol in red" that's stock recovery, you need to flash back a custom recovery. download (if you dont have one) from the xda threads, then enter bootloader (shut off phone, hold POWER + VOLDOWN) enter FASTBOOT, connect to PC and it should change to FASTBOOT USB
then
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY
then "install ZIP" in Aroma, deselect "stock recovery" so you don't need to flash it again.

No problem, TWRP you mentioned should work just fine. It's the same as installing a custom ROM. I havent used TWRP but it should say something like "install zip", then find the zip and flash away.
Hopefully, that will give you a chance to successfully run rumrunner; remember to read and follow the instructions to the letter!
Good luck and keep us posted (fingers crossed)

Well I installed the custom recovery, then flashed the stock rom 2.24.401.8 as you told me. Once I did that I ran rumrunner successfully gainning S-off.
Now I have to run the RUU but the one you suggested me is the "RUU M7 UL JB 50 HTC Europe 1.28.401.7 Radio 4A.13.3231.27 10.31.1131.05 Release 310878" but my radio is 4A.17.3250.14_10.39.1150.04L. Should I try to install it anyways? I've taken a look at the rest of RUUs and none fits my features...
btw every time I flash the stock version at the end it tells me that my phone doesnt appear to be rooted and if i want to install supersu, i always say no and after that my recovery always goes to stock, i guess it is normal, isnt it?

Go ahead and flash it, it will downgrade everything (now possible thanks to S-Off), and you will then receive the latest OTA package(s) to get to the most current version including radio.

Hey! I have tried to lock it but after typing adb shell I get this "[email protected]:\ $" instead of the # that you are getting. I've tried to type "su" after that but it says that the command cannot be found. Also, when I type the code "echo -ne..." it says that I have permission denied so dunno what to do now...
Im asking in the lock/unlock threat but they just told me that its because im not rooted and that i have to install a recovery and install superuser in order to be able to introduce the code, dont really understand why I have to root it afer unrooted it :S

You should have LOCKED it before running the RUU, because that's what made you loose root.
So before proceeding, can you give me an update of your status:
bootloader: locked/relocked/unlocked?
tampered?
ROM?

HTC ONE m7-ul HELP s-on stuck at Bootloader RUU fail

I'm kinda in a bad situation here.
I am very familiar with adb, fastboot, flashing and all that jazz but ran into a problem here:
I was trying to return back to stock rom and locked device to return it for warranty (bad top speaker and mic) and in the process I re-locked the bootloader and switched the s-off to s-on.
But when I went to flash the RUU via fastboot I kept getting a error message of signature failure.
Then after trying more RUU's that were most similar to my device I still was getting the same error.
I then tried an .exe RUU but kept getting errors during the process.
If I reboot it, it just returns to the bootloader and recovery goes to the bootloader as well.
Here are some pics:

post a fastboot getvar all (excluding IMEI and s/n)
ruu.zip are usually already decrypted, so would fail the signature check.

my bad didn't see the screenshots, I always prefer copy/paste
RUU.EXE for you is on androidruu.com or htc1guru.com
androidruu.com RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_TELUS_WWE_4.19.661.8
or
htc1guru.com RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_TELUS_WWE_4.19.661.8
this will upgrade you to 4.19.661.8 and since you are already S-ON, only use this if:
1- no TAMPERED
2- LOCKED not RELOCKED
.
My bootloader screen shows:
TAMPERED
RELOCKED
SECURITY WARNING
will this RUU still work?

it may get rid of tampered and security warning, but it will DEFINITELY NOT get you LOCKED, which is usually needed for warranty!!
time to unlock, get S-Off again, and follow the guide properly.
So will it install without error and get me stock ROM for now?
Cause after that, I can get S-OFF later, I'm just desperate for something to run now.

don't know what error 158 is... but the ruu should work fine; possibly USB3 problems??
HOWEVER, I highly recommend you get S-Off before upgrading to 4.4 !! (because there is a possibility S-Off won't work!!)
so unlock, s-off, then install any ROM, until you have time to do this properly!
how can I even get s-off again without a rom even installed ?

You need a ROM installed, no way around that, hence the (yeah made a little mistake): unlock, put a ROM on it, then S-Off

Win7 + USB2 port should be okay.... but this guy also had a problem with the ruu
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707246
and even though it was a USB2 port, the "internal" usb hub showed as a "USB3 hub", a different PC, and it worked.

[Q] Uhm I need help!

So I was running stock rooted and decided to run the Google Play Edition rom the latest one. It isnt in a bootloop but when I get to the home screen the screen is black, blinks for a second and goes back to being a black screen. Was wondering if I should just let the phone die and see if I could still boot in recovery and maybe flash a backup. But as of now I dont have a phone and would appreciate someones help.
Are you S-ON? If so, did you fastboot flash the boot.img?
Also if you're S-ON, you should S-OFF immediately to avoid these types of situations in the future .

I guess I should add instructions to my guide on how to fastboot flash kernels, huh?
Quick question, Cap. Is fastboot flashing the kernel only required for GPE when S-on, or is it AOSP in general? Reason I ask is I haven't seen much mention of it elsewhere.
Edit: Guide updated with instructions for S-on kernel flashing. Hit the second link in my sig.

The only time fastboot flashing the kernel should ever be necessary is if the device is S-ON.
S off

Firewater works on all M8 variants, but some devices aren't compatible. SunShine S-OFF works on all M8s.

While S-on you need to fastboot flash the boot.img. Hit the second link in my sig and read down to the portion on S-on kernel flashing. Once S-off you can just flash like normal and ignore the info above.

There are other reasons to S-off. Perhaps you should read the entire Hboot guide I wrote for the M8, not just the portion regarding flashing kernels while S-on.

Alright so i fixed the issue, when I flashed the rom without doing a full wipe, then flashing the SU that seemed to do the trick. Not 100% sure why but it works perfectly fine with no issued. Thanks for all your help.
