No release date as of yet but I'll be on the look out for this... Priced at $9.99. UPDATE. CONFLICTING PRICES. THE CORES WOULD SEEM TO SELL FOR $9.99 BUT THE UNIT IS $299! NOT PRACTICAL AT ALL.
UPDATE: THE CORES ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE. THAT'S A LET DOWN FOR ME. HOWEVER, I DO SEE THE MARKET FOR THIS.
When we say "two weeks to a month" of power, we're referring to the ability to charge your phone (tested on an iPhone 5) once a day for two weeks. But for people who charge their phone around 20% battery life (instead of when the phone is completely dead), like many people, the charge would last about a month. That's where those numbers come from.

Much appreciated on the heads up, I need this. Ingress just won't be the same again.
Maybe they are leading us down a path whereby we can get much, much better batteries that fit in the stock battery compartment using the stock battery backplate, and allow us to use normal case solutions.
So you pay ten bucks for a 55 watt hour battery that can only be thrown away after charge depletion? That's really stupid and who the foch would buy this? 6x18650 and a $20 case is just much better.

Plus, its a gas filled battery. Hopefully it was drop and heat tested... You get main unit for $300 and need to continue buying $10 refills to keep it "charged" up. Hmm, not feeling it yet.

I could see it working for people who hike a lot or camp or do long bike tours with no access to electricity but... $300? yikes.

From the pictures I've seen, I don't see a way to change batteries easily (i.e. without a screwdriver and a knife and some chance of breaking something). Can anyone confirm that? I'm wondering if I can bring a second battery along to help get me (and the kids) through a 12-hour flight?
TIA!
Chris
Not user replaceable in the least, sorry. Not soldered on like the ipad, but definitely not user replaceable without taking the unit apart.

I expect that there will be a bigger battery mod along at some point, it's not one of my priorities though.

Thanks for the info! Too bad...I'll never understand that design decision. I've bought second batteries for nearly every phone/pda I've owned.

Because manufacturers are following Apple's lead to train you to need new crap more often than batteries will die out. And they bank on the fact that consumers will pay for the extra charging and adapter crap that goes along with their products.
It's also cheaper to do it this way.
I hate it.
non-user replaceable batts are just another reason(along with extraordinarily high prices for comparatively poor specs, esp. notebooks) why I, personally, find Apple to no longer be relevant, but at least in this case it's not soldered to the board... just a matter of how difficult it is to disassemble it enough to replace the batt...
...still thinking about getting one of these as I do want a 7" tablet to go along with my 10" gTab, and it WILL also be pulling duty as a poorly lit area reader... 7" is just so much more comfortable for that functionality....
Doesn't look like the battery is soldered in, but it also doesn't look like it's meant to be easily user replaceable.

On the ZDnet teardown, you can see that it is a matter of opening and unpluging the battery, so I don't see a reason why eventually we wouldn't see some higher capacity interchange-ables for the brave..

Why is ebay charing me so much for this month for listing items in November??? Someone with eBay experience please help me out and try and explain this and tell me if it is correct or its wrong, I am about to call my bank and get my money back, this is bull****.

That picture is super small. I can't even see it, but it depends on how much the items sold for.

Are you using snipping tool?
Press the print screen button on your keyboard and paste into Paint?
You're not *just* being charged for listings, you also get charged commission. That's how auctions work.
By the looks of it you sold a white iPhone 3G, and you're now being charged $25, since they're worth ~$250 I can only deduce that $25 is in fact 9% the cost of the item.

Lol yeah I was, anywase I chatted with an eBay rep, after waiting 40min.....
Aparently eBay charges you a 9% total on your auction (if your the seller) up to $50.00 USD, what kind of bull is that? I was not aware of this, whatever. I will just have to take into accout that I will be hit with another charge 2-3 weeks after the auction; a random paypal charge on my bank statement threw up some red flags.

That's how auctions work, online or otherwise. Shockingly eBay can't sustain itself on the $3 it costs for insertion.
I received this one via Best Buy's Black Tie In Plan, but I don't really need a spare battery. I haven't used much.
I will mail it to you for $7 including shipping via PayPal.
Please PM me with your PayPal address if you're interested.

Sold it to a XDA member, thinking I would only need one first class mail stamp, but it was sent back to me by the post office, asking me to put $1.27 more stamps.
Is anyone else interested buying battery for $7 including shipping? I will have to go through eBay though because I don't have time to go to the post office and the only way to print first class mail label online now is through eBay sales... unless someone can enlighten me an idea.
Please PM me if you're interested. This is barely used because I have 2 Samsung battery that I use and I only got this spare battery because I thought it was such a waste to pay $50+ for Best Buy Black Tie w/o using any services.
just go to the post office?
Well.. I already said that I don't have time to go to the Post Office on my first post.. I have school pretty much everyday from 1030 am to 5-6 pm.

I don't drive so that's $5 for both ways on the bus and 2 hours of sleep. I end up losing more money and time. School has started 3 weeks ago and I haven't even gone out even once to even buy groceries. I've been literally overpaying whatever I can get within school....
Well, I'm not sure if I can create a label within PayPal if I receive the money as sale (goods).
$2 for a cup of yoplait... vs like 10 for $7 at Safeway.....
For a whopping $8.59, I decided to try one of those generic Korean-made 1500mah "standard" battery and wall charger combos from eBay and thought I'd do a review on them, since I've seen a few people ask. You can get them from Hong Kong sellers with 2 batteries for about the same price I paid for a single battery and charger, but this seller ships from the US (Brooklyn, NY) and it only took 3 days to get here vs 3-4 weeks from China.
Here's the product I bought

And here's just the battery
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1500mAh-Bat...962906?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5646336d5a
This is actually a surprisingly decent combo. The charger is no speed demon, but it definitely does the job and charges the 1500mah along with the stock 1440mah to 100%. The battery itself, is QUITE surprising. So much so, that I ordered another one. I would say it's at least in line with the stock battery. The phone's been off the charger for 9 hours and 33 minutes and is currently at 34% after pretty heavy usage (screen on a little over 1/4 brightness, surfing the web in Opera for 3 hours total, about 30 text messages, reading emails periodically, made a few changes to the calendar, farted around on and downloaded 4 apps from the market, made some widget and homescreen changes, took 3 10 minute phone calls and did 2 full nandroid backups in CWM).
This is quite surprising, as these generic batteries usually end up sucking pretty badly. I just hope it's longevity is equally impressive. I have a feeling it's life-span isn't going to be quite as long as the stock battery, but for $9 WITH a charger, I won't feel too bad if it's not.
Went to go buy the battery by itself:
This Buy It Now listing has ended.
if you really want at ebay they sell original battery for less..

They're either fakes, or refurbs. You can find the stock battery, but not for $5. I bought one and didn't realize until it was too late, its a refurb (i.e. used) and it wouldn't hold a charge.
This may sound weird but I'm not satisfied with the batter life of this phone.
Is there any battery case available or do you make one yourself?
Unfortunately, The Latter.
Here's mine!
Now finally the claims of "2 day battery life" sees the light of day.

I couldn't get my hands on Epoxy resin or silicon sealant so hot glue FTW, for now.
To not make it look ugly I just stuck a piece of torn jeans on top to make it bearable.
6Ah Li Po battery, 1A Power bank board, Portronics L-shaped USB-C cable, lots of hot glue, a flatback sacrificial case and patience are all you need to make one yourself.
Technical but it seems too ugly
Cool stuff!
hey, you could try to use someone's 3D printer and software to create a much cleaner housing/case for the external battery

ideally for strength I would go with CNC milling aluminium, or better yet, mill a new chassis and add 2x 4Ah cells in series, since the battery inside is 2x 2250mAh in series for 7.2v, but I'm working with what i have for the moment
I have ordered Battery case for my brand new One Plus 8T Araceli 10000 Mah since 22 days but still I have not received my order yet but trust me it look so great and exciting for the order. You guys must check out on AliExpress. SIPOTEK

I like this battery case
it's mind-blowing,,,
I actually just registered on this forum just so I could congratulate you on your work of art! I was looking for a battery case for my OnePlus 8t and found this post... I probably will not get around to duplicating your success... but I also had the same idea. At long last, I'm surrendering my Note 4 from 2015 with its ZeroLemon 10,000 mah battery which would go at least 2 days often 5 between charges. I joked that I could go on a 3-day drinking adventure and when I sober up my phone would still work to tell me where I'm at! Just kidding of course... I hardly drink. Anyway, your kind shall triumph! Ha ha! Keep up the handiwork!
Interesting work
