what's the name of the video? I can try it here once my Z1 arrives.
It may not play back properly because the resolution is actually a bit over 4k and that could cause these defects. Who knows?

Okay, I've tried the video on my new X1 with both stock player and mx player...I have the same results as you! On my laptop it plays fine.
I guess since the resolution is a bit over 4k, the phone can still play it but messes up the colors during playback because the resolution is not supported. Or something like this.

Catch the full story here.
Update: Its 4096p videos not 4000p.
they still look horrible compared to a normal hd movie; they really should have increased the bitrate instead of resolution
They are improving as of late though. I like their leanback feature too. http://www.youtube.com/leanback

Yeah have youtube leanback feature is also awesome : http://www.techit.in/youtube-launched-leanback/
Not sure about having a 25' screen for the 4000p But, googles leanback feature is very cool
Nice ladies galaxys!!
next time you better invite me
It isn't 4000p. The resolution is 4096*2304 at 24fps. Therefore, it is 2304p.
Its like calling 1080p video 1920p.

the logic doesn't apply to this resolution. youtube have come out with the resolution that is not yet properly defined. but it is progressive. if u make a good search, u'll find it's defined in 4096p and not taken the logic of height..
in fact, this resolution is completely different, its not wqhd, wfhd... no it's completely something else..
This resolution is called 4K (meaning you need 4 HDTV, each 1080p to watch this ). The area is 4 times larger as the sides are 2 times larger than full HD.
Personally I think it is BS. First of all you need expensive cameras like RED ONE to record videos. Second you need 4K display which are rare and also expensive. And most importantly the quality because of compression is not great.
The app is called LGcamera
and here are some screenshots
NOTE: Don't go above 20mbps! Because the app will stop working. If LGcamera not opening, u need to reboot ur device.

Thanks for the tip! If you could post sample videos (if possible similar videos) of both bitrates, that would be great.
Wait, I didn't notice the 60fps. So it can actually record 1080p videos at 20Mbps and 60fps?

Google is sending me another Nexus 4 because the one i'm using has some problem with the lens (grey circle aka dead spot).
When I get the other Nexus 4, I will try to do 12mbps vs 20mbps video.
It works very well. ty
You don't need to use another app to achieve the same. You can edit the media_profiles.xml file in the /system/etc folder.
Here are some pics:-
hey there, thanks, very helpful indeed. since i'm still waiting for my nex4, i was anyway hoping lgcamcorder would be capable of doing this. plus you can do some more tweaks compared to the stock camera. did anyone try to also increase audio quality in lgcam? i know this app happens to be quite unstable, both with "wrong" settings and the "wrong" device, in other words: you have to be lucky it works the way you want to?
does it work in 720p 60fps?
Cool app. Nice find.

I can confirm 60fps doesn't work in ANY recording mode or resolution. I tried them all using the Lgcamera, which by the way, is much much much much MUCH better than the stock camera app for photos. I haven't done any side by side video bitrate comparisons but the photos and specifically the focus is so much better with the lgcamera. The photos are much less compressed and there is so much more detail in everything compared to the blurry crap from the stock camera.
Try it out and validate my results please! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCamera&hl=en
Hey guys, I have been trying forever to get 3d live wallpapers on my xperia sp, but it doesn't work! it won't get the 3d effect like every phone that has gyroscope, why this happens? tried with several apps and on different roms but the same! Any idea?

My Xperia SP compass and gyroscope doesnt works...
pretty weird, i can't seem to make any parallax wallpaper the way it should be, it's like it only uses accelemeter and doesn't have gyro or gravity sensor
Someone? i would like to know more about this issue..
I think is problem for you? what about service test like the guy in the second post? have u tried? that could mean u throw ur phone or something like that, for me both service test and parallax wallpaper works fine
Yep, for me it also works fine.
Once I accidentally dropped my phone and the vibrations(haptic feedback, etc.) stopped working.
Maybe it's not the best solution, but I hit the phone with my hand and it was fixed.
Btw, thanks to that problem, I noticed the existence of Parallax wallpapers.
Steve, exactly, i have apps to test sensor they are all working.. parallax wallpapers don't work like in devices with gyro, just watch some videos on youtube and you'll probably notice what i'm saying, can you test it anyways to see if u have the 3d effect?

I used the Asteroids 3D LWP to test it out and it works perfectly fine, like on iOS 7 device with that parallax effect.
Hey steve, i'm not sure if ur talking about a real 3d effect where things really seem to be there or just the thing i get that doesn't look like 3d at all.. i just tested that asteroid live wallpaper and there's no 3d effect as i suspected, every sensor of my phone is working the way it should, again, i have many apps that show me my sensors and if they are working or not and everything is fine.. btw phone is new and i never dropped it, anyone with ideas?? anyone at all that has a different phone with gyro that can teste 3d wallpaper and test back on sp to see the differences?

Oh wow, you could almost try to cook some food with it.
I really wonder how much power it drains at that workload.
That said, do you happen to have a link to this test video?
I'd love to try it on my BayTrail Intel Atom tablet. I'm pretty sure that it would handle it without a hitch.
Very interesting.

Would the Snapdragon Note 4 be sluggish? planning to get one but want to make sure which version to choose from
Thanks for the test and sharing the results...
I have the same result with other Hi10P videos on my SM-910U.
Anyone with a snapdragon 805 version willing to do the same test ?
This is really impresive. I suppose h265 is out of the question though? Maybe there is hardware decoder for it though? My FireTV struggles with h265 unfortunately, would be nice to have something mobile that plays it...

It has h265 decoder but not encoder.
Thanks. So it should cope with decoding h265, nice - at least with lower profiles (but I doubt we'll see high profile h265 files soon).
Every time I try to do a slow mo video, this is the result. I've tried doing a factory reset just in case, but same problem.
Any ideas?

This is already there in our P20 Pro, coz Huawei is using frame rate interpolation to achieve 960 fps and then reduce it to get 30fps video. This is not actual 960 fps but lesser than that with resolution @ 480p up scaled to 720p. This is not the case of s9 or xz2 where the phone actually records at the said fps and resolution...

I get that, but even if I record 240fps, when it goes to slowmo it looks like the gif above.
The video is a distorted mess and it doesn't even play in slow motion
That looks like it's caused by poor lighting.
Slo-mo works a lot better in good lighting because it requires higher shutter speeds to work properly.

Low light or artificial light causes the whole frame to distort... Not part of the frame... I get this too even when shooting under sunlight
