So I've installed Mackay ROM 2.91 of kasper_h. It works like a bliss ( i'm new so I cannot post in development section ) till some time.
When I plugged in usb cable to my mobile and pc it showed on P970 to mountSDcard and then it popped in on my pc BUT later on it failed to do so. Now I can only mount my SDcard via card adapter or in recovery mode it shows removable disk but do not open it but if I press mount USB mass storage device it open my sdCard on my pc))
SO WHAT THE HELL, why isn't it mounting while using my phone in normal way, connected to PC? but only in recovery lol...
Anyone got the very same issue?
I've found androidforums. com /desire-tips-tricks/365476-guide-usb-brick-fix. html but do not know if it is good solution for it and even if I do not understand it at all>.>.
Go to settings/storage, press menu and select USB connection. There are 3 diferent types, mtp, camera and mass storage. Try the others.

I connect my phone via usb after rooting. It just says USB connected. I cant choose to mount sd card. Anyone experiencing the same problem ?
You have to go to Settings -> About phone -> USB Settings and choose "Mass storage". Sometimes when I reboot my phone I have to select that option to get mount working again. Probably a bug.
Mine is already in mass storage mode.
Solved the problem by checking USB Debugging mode and downloading Samsung USB drivers for mobile phone.
I don't know why, I'm in mass storage mode and I expected to just be able to copy and paste files like in Samsung Wave (or any other phones) but I cannot do it in Galaxy S.
Never liked mass storage mode. Enable USB debugging mode instead. Go to menu ->settings ->Applications -> Development -> USB debugging. Once connected to the PC, pull down the notification menu and select connect.
Thank you. Tried it but it doesn't work too. The micro sd partitions do not appear even if usb mode (debugging) is connected already.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
did you pull the notification bar and choose to connect to ur comp? if ur on froyo, once you click " mass storage " you should then see a green android on the screen with the option to connect to the computer. if you dont see the notification, unplug the usb and try again.
SOLVED after updating my firmware to JPU. Thank you for the help guys! It was as I suspected. For some reason, my phone owned the external microsd's filesystem after formatting (I was using JP2 firmware). I formatted it again after flashing to JPU and voila, all problems fixed.
Does anyone know how to make CM7 always mount both emmc and the 4th sdcard partition when you use the "Turn on USB storage" option that comes up when you plug the Nook into the computer.
I know you can do it by hand like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12102365&postcount=153
I also know that you can use:
Nook Color USB Mass Storage Utility App:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952456
But how do you make it automatic when ever you press the button?
I have modified my stock emmc /system/etc/vold.conf and it now mounts the 4th partition automatically when booting stock.
Using the same SD card partition for eMMC and SD booting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942181
Once this is fixed everything will be perfect and i can pick and choose which way to boot.

Everything you are talking about is for Rooted Eclair (stock).
There is no "Turn on USB Storage" or "press the button" in CM7 when you connect the USB cable...
Generally, people use the Utility if they want to mount anything more than the default.

Click to collapse
Running: CyanogenMod-7-04012011-NIGHTLY-encore
Actually when you plug a cable into your Nook when running CM7 you get a notification of "USB Connected - Select to copy files to/from your computer." If you select it you get a picture of a little Android guy with a USB arm and the words:
USB Connected
You have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select the button below if you want to copy files between your computer and your Android's SD card.
At the bottom of the screen is a button that says: Turn on USB Storage.
This button is what I am trying to get to mount the 4th sdcard partition as well as the emcc partition. Like I said I made the changes on the emcc Eclair side and I know how to do it manually. I just was trying to figure out IF you can do it with that button.
I am going to bump this once to see if anyone has any idea.
Thanks...
Everything was normal till yesterday ,i mean when i connected my phone to pc by usb cable it used to ask if i want to charge or connect in mass storage mode
But today when i connected my phone it didn't gave any notification and just kept charging
i have tried changing the usb ports
tried re-installing the drivers
checking and unchecking usb debugging mode but still it doesn't work
any help will be appreciated :good:
First thing to do would be so to Settings > SD card and phone storage settings and try having mass storage only selected.
If you have rooted ur phone u can try mounting USB storage from the advanced menu of CWM in order to see whether it is a hardware based issue or an issue isolated to the ROM.
If you have the android sdk installed, check whether ur PC acknowledges that the phone is connected to the USB port by typing "adb devices" in cmd. This will tell you whether the PC actually knows that there is something plugged in.
Final thing to do would be backup in CWM and reflash stock ROM then revert to backup.
Some time ago I dropped and broke my Samsung Galaxy S, I've since gotten a replacement but there are still some files on the internal SD that I want to recover. I should be able to do this with ADB - but USB debugging doesn't seem to be enabled on device.
I thought entering recovery enables this - but I'm basing this on my cyanogenmod 10 install on my working device, whilst I should have stock 2.3.6 installed on the broken one (this rom specifically).
I believe I have the stock SGS recovery, but I can't say for sure.
Anyone have any clue on what I could do to get usb debugging working either in the OS or in recovery?
depending on what CWM you have installed you can go in mount and storage and there mount USB storage....then it connects the internal SDcard to your pc.
On my windows pc, sometimes the internal sd card mounts to pc only with connecting the phone to it. I am not sure anymore under what circumstances i got this working. Perhaps it was in download mode or in recovery mode....also could be that this was when i only short press the power button when phone is down but USB connected.....and if i remember right it depended also on which driver were installed and that sure kies is not running....but perhaps you give it a try?
