Only want a black status bar? Check out my black status bar only mod.
Any chance of getting this without the recents/menu change?
And can the position be changed? ie menu home back
This also works with the smaller nav bar mod! Great stuff!

No. I just tested it. The buttons will switch positions but the recent app key does nothing. Seems to only work if the recent apps is in the third position.

You can get the mod without the recents/menu change here. The button position can be changed in the settings (only for the mod without the button change).
Does anyone have the revert to stock? The link is down... I think. Thanks!

FYI this mod works in conjunction with the shrinking navbar mod. I'm using the smallest navbar, with the black mod without location icon. looks great.

Is there a way to make the nav bar auto hide itself when using MX Player? It is really annoying to not be able to use full screen.
Just noticed this and cant remember if its always been like this... If I pull down the notification panel from the lockscreen, the nav bar pops up.

I think it may be a problem with MX Player on the LG G2 because apps like YouTube are able to auto hide the nav bar when playing videos.

I'm a little confused. So if I flash the recent apps key mod does it act like aosp software keys and add the in-app options key for settings? Does it have the options key in the nav bar for older legacy apps?

Anyone having problems coming out of landscape mode? I was using PicSay Pro in landscape mode, hit the home button and it only showed the icons in the app dock but nothing on the home screen. When I flipped to portrait mode the screen went black only the showing info on the top of the screen (battery, time, signal, etc). I tried holding the power button and selecting 'Shut off' but it froze up. Had to pull the battery.

So I was looking around and discovered this bad boy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419287 only problem is that it uses notification bar for the float if your using the modified halo))) apk. I just started messing around with this but I took someones advice with the sao launcher and it works perfectly. Going to try it with bubble launcher and see how it goes.
Edit: bubble launcher is pretty cool. I'd recommend it and if u really enjoy it I recommend donating. Bubble launcher resembles the halo apk from paranoid to an extent but slightly different.
Edit2: just tried floating notification and its just like halo after setting it up right. Only downfall is its a 30 day trial so after awhile you have to buy which I do recommend if you want the stock halo look.

If you don't mind, could you outline your installation process to get this to work?
Here was how I got it to work.
1. Install Floating Notifications and enable it in the Accesibility menu.
2. Select the box labeled "Launch Apps in Halo Mode"
3. Go to the app notifications menu and check which ones you want it to notify you for. HINT: if you want a real halo experience the rightmost icon in the app list will make the icon stay floating.
4. This is a personal preference: Go to Customize in Floating Notifications and select "Dock after a few seconds of inactivity" and then at the bottom set "Amount of the icon hidden when docked:" to 55%. If it is more than 55% then you will have trouble clicking the stack.
5. REBOOT PHONE.
Now for the Xposed part.
1. Install Xposed Framework
2. REBOOT PHONE.
3. Go into Xposed Installer and go to "Downloads" and select XHaloFloatingWindow, and then install it.
4. REBOOT PHONE.
5. Go into Xposed Installer and go into "Modules" and check the box "XHaloFloatingWindow".
6. For safe measure REBOOT PHONE. And then you're done
Lemme know if y'all need any help!
Also on the reboots it hung on the splash for a while.
Oh yeah not responsible if your device catches fire.
using this will make the sense stock messager app from working properly as you won't be able to see the "SEND" button in the halo window

As we all know Nexus 5 has a gorgeous looking display that's amazing to play games on, however, the big navigation bar that's always common kind of destroys the purpose of it.
One way to hide the navigation bar is by editing the build.prop file by adding a new line to it: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
What it does is completely disable the navigation bar, so we need a new way to navigate without it. An easy way to do that is with an application called Button Savior. The app will enable hidden on screen buttons that are very responsive and will allow you to access home screen with ease while enjoying the beautiful display, now in full screen!
Here's a list of applications that work and can be used to navigate without the original navigation bar:
1. Button Savior (back button does not work)
2. Handy Soft Keys (when enabled the "Ok Google" feature does not work)
3. Pie Control (paid application, but developer offers it for free to XDA users http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454531)
Thank you The display looks so much better without the nav bar. i look forward to GMD Gesture Control compatibility with KitKat, it's a much better alternative for Button Saviour.

Thanks for the heads up, this will do fine for now. Once Xposed is updated for 4.4 I'll use GravityBox to shrink the navbar down so it's just a sliver when in landscape. That way I still have instant access to the buttons but it doesn't take up any noticeable real estate on my screen. That's what I did with my Moto X and has proven to be the best mod I've done.

Yeah man, once we have Xposed I'll be MUCH happier with this phone. First on the agenda aside from shrinking the navbar is setting my status bar icons back to holo blue. Why google went to white is beyond me.
But back on topic. I'm using the handy soft keys app that you posted, I like it better than the one in the OP. Thanks for the recommendation.
I actually just found the PERFECT app. It's simply called Pie Control. It's fully customizable, smooth as silk, and feels like it's actually part of the ROM. It's paid, like $1.50, but worth every penny.

I am proud to present to you Validus 13 builds put together by somber73. In no way shape or form do I take credit for somber73's work. I have been running this build for a few days now and I can personally attest to its battery sipping ability (I’ve tried all the roms on XDA and this by far has the best battery management), its speed, and it has tons customizations. A huge thanks to somber73 for his work and dedication. This ROM combined (NOT BUILT IN, YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY GET THE FOLLOWING) with the Quick Remote found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515141 and the stock camera app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522889 gives you the best of both worlds. A big thanks to sefnap for both the camera and QRemote.
FYI: The “Knock On” feature that has been causing reboots in some ROMs DOES NOT happen in this ROM. “Knock On” works great.

CM based with tons of added features. Stability is incredible. Not one reboot, not one hiccup, its just been awesome.

Official 4.3 gapps or paranoidandroid 4.3 gapps, most likely the gapps that are posted in the OP

So a quick question,
Did anyone manage to get a look in to if HTC kept or removed buttons from black bar?
We know on M7 middle button was kept just under HTC logo, so maybe they did similar on M8?

im pretty sure they removed them. Are you looking for ways to hide the on screen buttons?

No as then I would have no buttons. Sorry but I buy a big phone for screen size and taking it with buttons is silly for me, especially that there is so much space around screen on M8 left unused. I can live with such buttons on my Nexus tablet but on the phone those two buttons are extra helpful in quick navigation.

fair enough, I'm using a nav bar hiding app that hides the on screen buttons withj a simple tap and makes them reappear with another one, allows me to use the full 5 inches of screen without getting stucvk lol

Immersion mode works well on my Nexus. I would say such button solution for me is on screens 7 and bigger. On smaller screens if there is no basel Ok otherwise buttons
Sent on the move from HTC One
I am using the gmd auto hide softkeys as well works great. I did go pro so that I could hide the the trigger but we'll worth the extra $ so I don't have a red bar at the bottom of my screen. I didn't bother to look at any other apps that may produce the same result for free but I like to support the devs that make a good app.
Xposed and immersive mode - expanded desktop.
Works fantastic
I got rid of my on screen buttons entirely and solely use PIE. It is fantastic. Adds more screen space and most customizing options as to what you would have on a nav bar. Plus you can set where and when it is accessed. Bought the HTC m8 with the intention of doing this from the beginning.
Sense 6 Toolbox for Xposed Framework has an option to decrease the size of the bar by like half or maybe more.
Edit: This is in the wrong section. Unless, tapatalk is acting funny. But pretty sure wrong section.

Nope. Exact same one. That is the exact thread I got mine from. Did you uninstall the old toolbox and then install the new one?
Here is a screenshot of the feature in toolbox.

Use the xposed module Dimensions Editor. You can shrink the size of the navigation bar, navigation buttons, status bar, and status bar icons.
