[Q] viper one vs viper one-x battery question - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i've currently got a HTC one-X with ViperX now i found a nice deal on a HTC One but I'm not sure i want it.
i was wondering if anybody has any experience with viper X and viper one that might be able to tell me if viper one can match the one-x in battery life.
has anybody made the swap and noticed the battery not lasting as long or perhaps even longer?
i suspect the companion core in the Tegra 3 soc is whats keeping my battery use so amazing wile playing music (about 8 hours of music playing only drains 20-25%) but i'm not sure how well the Snapdragon does when playing music with the screen off or just running background tasks.
or does it fall flat on it's face in this scenario and i should probably wait for Tegra 4/Tegra 4i

[Q] Incredible S or Nexus S (I DID RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING)

Ok i already look onto many many post on this and i still have some question left to decide either im gonna buy the nexus s for 300 or the Incredible s for 300.
1) Comparing the Screen S-LCD (IS) to Super Amoled (NS) which one do you prefer? and is the multitouch better in one or another? I am hesitant on the pentile structure of the S-AMOLED....
2) Battery life which one is better? base on current custom roms/kernel for IS and NS
3) Audio quality from the headphone jack?
4) State any problems with either one.
5) Call quality?
I had a nexus one in the past i loved it but i , for fun, overpriced the phone on a selling site and someone actually wanted to buy it. I couldn't pass up the offer.
oh and will the IS ever have a strong community behind it?
Marginal difference between s lcd and s amoled...... Believe me u won't know unless u actually hold them side by side
Then both have gingerbread now,
HTC IS had a premium build whereas Samsung is plastic, then depends whether u like HTC sense or stock, and also HTC IS has more RAM both are equally fast ,
No root for IS atm , again a personal choice I don't prefer to root my device and void my warranty, HTC has better camera and better sound no comment about headphones though u can always buy a Sony or skull candy earphones for that matter

Both have a strong backing behind them but nexus being a Google phone it will have more development going on

Thank you very much, but i am more interested in the audio jack, as in the quality output of the device. For example my nexus one audio jack would always have a hissing sound similar to my ipodtouch 1gen. Someone mentioned this is due to the hardware. The update fixes it i think by turning the audio jack off whenever it doesn't play anything or switch between songs, i may be wrong but that what i notice when i pause my music it would hiss for 0.5-1 second and then shuts off. Does the IS have this problem?
Oh and hows the battery life of your IS?
The Nexus S has a 1500 mAh battery and the IS has a 1450 mAh. Also, the super amoled consumes quite less battery than the SLCD. So statistically, the Nexus should have better battery life.
If you don't want to ROOT your phone, the IS (with HTC Sense) is definitely the way to go. If you really want updates and/or ROOT, then you shud get NEXUS S (it's a google phone so it'll get a lot more and fast updates than the IS - sad, but true)
having your android buttons (home back menu search) rotate to match the orientation of the phone is reason enough to choose the IS.
it also feels great, its kinda rubbery, so you wont see fingerprints on it and the back has a very interesting shape which i love too.
i was stuck between the same 2 phones before i chose, but ultimately i went for the IS and i dont regret it.
hopefully we will have root for IS very soon.
its the little things

The hiss is probably due to androids internal media service still running.
I have experienced it on all my android devices. (hero, sgs and is)
I think it has to shut off completely first, before it shuts the power to the speaker/jack off.
When power is still being fed, you will always have some noise from the device's internals.
Battery life is OK for me, but this varies per user ofcourse.
I do try to charge wherever possible, I always have my usb cable with me.
Cheers

got the Incredible S
So yea i ended up buying the incredible s over the nexus s, i am in love with this phone! the incredible s build quality is awesome only problem is the back cover squeak but not that big of a problem since i use a case and it disappears completely. I thought i needed root for custom rom and stuff because the only reason i root my phone is for a better battery life and less bugs. However, trust me this phone last much longer than my previous nexus one. Not sure how it compare to the nexus s but it is enough for me since im rarely away from a computer for more than 10 hours lol.... First day i got it, probably 36 min of modern combat 2, 1 1/2 hours of scrubs(video), surfing the internet for 3 hours , phone 15 min, other little stuff and the rest of the time was on idle. A total of 9 hour and still 56% left.
My friend has a nexus s and comparing it to mine, mines sexier on the outisde, but once this phone is software s-off or xtc clip, we'll be almost even on the inside. The call quality on the nexus s is worse than my IS, even my friend admits it. The audio jack however is better output on the nexus s.
I do miss the customization, different kernels and roms but it not worth choosing the nexus s over just for it that in my opinion. Even in the long run we might miss out or be the one of the last to get on the update but im guessing the future software will start being opt for dual-core phone like the ios4 performance on iphone 4 vs iphone 3g.
Thank you everyone for helping me choose
Good choice mate..... Have fun....

Even me and my friend were in a dilemma which one to go for. Nexus s or IS...
I decided for RED IS available around here and my friends sayin Nexus S is better...
Any way or the other, I jus LOOOOOOVE HTC SENSE!!!!
SENSE FTW!!!

[Q] Upgrade coming soon

Ok Vivid owners I have a few questions about the vivid. My upgrade is coming soon, and I've been looking at the vivid as my next phone. I currently own a galaxy s II, but Ive always liked the HTC style phones.
I like to play games on my phone like angry birds etc.
1. Are games smooth on the vivid?
2. Hows the battery life after playing about 2 and a half hours a day?
3. How does it sound when you listen to music through good ear-buds, loud or not so loud.
4. Is the signal strong on this phone.
5. Hows the video quality when watching hd movies.
I guess that's all I can think of for now. If I remember anything else I'll post it later. Thanks in advance

1.) Games are great on the vivid, Ive had mine a little over a month, and Ive yet to make the phone lag doing anything.
2.) Battery life on this phone is about average. Even with gaming 2.5 hours a day, Id say you would get a full day out of a charge. It just all depends on what games you play. Games that require a constant data connection and/or are heavy on graphics will make shorten your battery life more than others.
3.)Sound through ear buds is awesome. Id even go as far to say its as good or better than my iPhone was. The speaker on the phone does leave alot to be desired. Not much volume on that one.
4.)Signal is great on this phone. I pick up "4G" at my house pretty well, however I dont live anywhere near anyplace that has 4G LTE service to test it out on LTE.
5.)Video looks awesome on this phone. It beats the iPhone's retina display hands down. I havent used a SGSII enough to be able to give a comparison to it though.
Thanks for the response. I think I might be joining you guy's soon. I'm going to get one to compare it to the gs2 I have at the moment. hope I like it just as much.
I personally love the sense ui
Kinda jealous of my wife's display and sense customizations.

Hello,
1. I'm playing Asphalt 6 on mine, nice and smooth 3D graphic.
2. After 2.5hrs of playing Asphalt 6 i still have over 50% of my battery left.
3. I'm listening busic over bletooth stereo headset - works and sound perfect.
4. Much better signal than on Desire HD.
5. HD movies nice and smooth, but i noticed on mine that after 1hr of playing full hd film... bottom back is getting "a bit" warm. - but i heard that's normal.
Love that phone like never other HTCs.
Thanks for the replies. My main concern was going from the gs2 to the vivid and not liking it. I'm going to the store and trying the vivid for a few weeks see if I will like it. Hows the call quality? Is it loud and clear when on the phone?

My wife and I both got our Vivids about 2 weeks ago. We can both can tell you call quality and clarity is excellent. The Vivid is my wife's first Android, and my second. I upgraded from an HTC Inspire, which my wife used some as well. We can tell you the Vivid is a marked improvement over the Inspire. Everything was good on the Inspire, especially once I rooted it. To my wife and I, the Vivid is an excellent device and worth the money

I have both the Vivid and the Exynos SGS2. I kept factory clock speeds and ran all the same apps and games and didn't notice a difference in performance per device. Speaker is by far louder on SGS2. Call quality is even. Form factor is no issue except button mapping will take a day or two to get used to. I use both phones daily so naturally I have issues still. For me it's a toss up, I love HTC and Samsung but Sense in the more attractive UI.

Sorry, I forgot. I get two days off both batteries with my usage but I'm using two phones and my connectivity is a little better on the Vivid. My Sammy has better clarity through ear buds.

[Q] A few questions about the HTC One

Hey guys. I am currently a HTC One X user and I am thinking of buying the HTC One. I am slightly dissapointed by the HOX. Bad in gaming, alful battery life, heats up and doesnt have S-OFF. So I wanted to ask a few questiong about the One.
1.There were a ton of faulty HOX's so are there a lot of falty One's too ? What is the thing I should look for when buying it.
2.How is the battery life ? I mean on my HOX right now I can barely get 2h of screen on time with moderate usage (a bit of youtube, browsing, camera) And how is the battery when gaming ? I mean on my HOX my battery drains in around 90 mins when gaming (real racing 3). Will this phone be suitable for me ? I mean will it last around 7 hours (not screen on time) with 40-50mins of Real Racing 3, 20 mins of YT, 30 mins of browsing, some music and 30mins of other apps (like FB, Viber, etc.) Currently my HOX is not capable of this.
3.How is the gaming ? Are the games running good (25FPS+) and are most of them running on full graphics ?
4.How is the camera ? I mean I have heard a lot of thigs about it. 50% of the people say it is not very good, the other say its amazing. Also the video stabilisation. Does OIS work ? On my HOX the videos are shaky as ****. Also doest the camera (during video capture) lose focus ofen ?
5. Is it easy to scratch the screen and the metal body ? On my HOX the screen scratched and broke pretty easly. I had to replace it one time.
6.What would I gain if S-OFF my HTC One ?
Also I was thinking of should I wait for something like HTC One+ or similar. It would probably pack a S800 and a bigger battery. I am hearing some things about a HTC One Max but 5.9'' is just an overkill for me. 5'' is the absolute maximum for me.
I was thinking of buying S4 before, but I realised that the performance is worse and touchji** lags.(also I hate touchwiz...) The only thing that I like is the bigger and removeable battery. How doest HTC One's battery stand next to S4's battery ? Is there a lot of difference ? Thanks and sorry for my bad english :highfive:
Battery life will vary and is solely based upon your usage, theres really know way to tell you honestly if it will hold up under your usage or to compare it against another device...IF your looking to buy it and it get amazing battery life from the door, this will never happen, the rom/battery etc take at least 3 cycles to settle in.
Yeah I know I have to do some recharge cycles to unleash the full potential of the battery. I just wanted to ask if there is a HTC One X user that upgraded to HTC One to tell me if the difference in the battery life is huge.
One just did and answer would be the same....
There is no One+
That Pocketlint article everybody will quote is bogous. Or anti HTC Propaganda by Sammy Fanboys, Or just confused. Looks like the mix up One based phablets or new Butterflys with the One.
Again: if you wait for a HTC One but with different compunents (Snap800, Battery etc.) you will wait for ever. There is no One+

[Q] Few questions about HTC One

Hello everyone!
I want to buy a new phone, but I can't decide which one: HTC One or SGS 4 (I9505).
Right now I've got HTC One X, and to be honest I'm not really satisfied with the way it works. I just want to know if HTC fixed all the annoying issues they made with HOX. So let's start:
1. Multitasking. Does it work as it should? Or same as on HOX? It's really annoying, when I move from one app to another, and after few minutes when I want to go back to the previous app it reloads and all my progress is lost.
2. Screen Any brighter/darker points on the screen? Backlight flickering?
3. Speaker volume? Probably it's great, but just wanna be sure
4. Build-in connectors Anything similar to the wifi / gps antena connector issue in HOX?
5. Overheating I know that One gets warm, but does it get as hot as HOX was before the Jelly Bean update?
Those are the main issues I've discovered in HOX. I love the HTC One design, but the look is only a small detail, and if I intend to buy it, I must be sure HTC got rid of all the issues they made with HOX.
Also if there are any other problems with HTC One, please write here about them
Thanks for your help!

Multitasking - there doesn't seem to be any interruption of during multiple uses of apps everything is paused when left and is the same when you return to it. The only time I have noticed it is the reloading of webpages in the native browser which can be avoided by using chrome.
Screen - it can't get any better atm
Speaker volume - this thing is loud with sterio output using 2 speakers with bass boost.
Build in connectors - null
Overheating - I have yet to see this thing heat up to the point of being hot. However it's factory set to run at 1700 I have not tested above that freq.
Coming from the incs my opinions may be biased but using this phone for over a month and I can't seem to find any faults you just have to make sure you enjoy sense (which doesn't suck the way it did at version 3). I can't find any lag either which is something sense used to provide for free in previous versions.

I would agree with your answers whole heartedly with the exception being overheating. Particularly whilst streaming HD video content or playing HD games the device does get very hot. Far hotter than any other device I have ever owned. It doesn't impact its performance however there have been a couple of occasions where my One has got so hot I've had to put it down and leave it for a while to cool down as it was too hot to hold.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
multitasking - sometimes you lose the progress you had in apps, especially if you have a lot of them. If you only have 2-3 apps running, it usually keeps the progress. Swipe away the apps you don't use, and you should have no problems
overheating - I use my phone's navigation a lot. If it is plugged in into a cheap aftermarket car charger, the GPS, mobile data, and the screen is on, it can overheat massively. If you unplug it from the charger, it cools down in a few minutes. I have yet to try an HTC car charger though.
screen - no errors, although the black is not as good as it is on an AMOLED
connection issues - none so far
speaker volume - generally good for a phone, but when more people are talking, it is not too loud. If you use an external speaker, it blows anything away.
also, as a sidenote: if you decide to buy the One, get S-OFF before upgrading to 4.2. If your HBOOT is updated, you cannot get S-OFF.

[Q] someone tell me about the battery peformance

I'm really interested in the new HTC desire 626;;; but I saw tht its only having 2000mah battery while my current phone HTC desire 501 is having 2100mah and it gives very less time on battery while playing games or when using internet,,,,, I rejected HTC desire 620g because of its size ,and now I found this HTC desire 626 smaller with good screen to body ratio ,, all I'm confused about is the battery,,please help

I am currently using HTC Desire 626 for couple of days. I also have iPhone 4 and also Xperia Ray too. The back 13MP and front 5MP camera is really poor like chinese phone compared to my iPhone 4 and Xperia Ray. If you want to purchase this phone, read some actual reviews, camera sample before purchase.
Hi. I dunno about 626 but I have 620g and I love the shape and size.. Battery life , better than my ex stolen S5 .. Especially in watching videos and a little bet better in gaming .. But 626 has a different cpu and smaller battery capacity.. I cant advise that.but if you can accept the size of 620, its a good choice better than 626 or 620g
Right now I am using the phone to listen to music when I walk to work (20min) and back. WiFi is on all day long. I do/receive calls like for 1.5 hours every day. I don't really use the camera since I have another camera. I also play some games (1 hour) every day. It has been 2 weeks I have this phone and I recharge battery every 2.5 almost 3 days.
I am sure it will be getting worse over the time but I don't really care since it does not cost too much, my expectation were not so high. The big issue with this phone is WiFi, I have this problem, and the camera quality, mine is fine, but alot of people are complaining about the camera, especially the one in the back 13mp.
Hope it will help you to decide whether this is a phone for you or not. Bye
