As the title says I have a problem with UI lag when using CM based rom.I have used Jelly Bear and Avatar and both drop fps when pullling the notification or opening apps.It just lags compared to stock like LG rom. What is the reason of this?Does anyone experience this problem or is it just me?
i realized too that issue with notification bar but i think its launcher issue cause i installed Next launcher and lag gone is rly smooth when i pull down the bar.

yes I use nova launcher to fix notification bar lag but its only that.I dont know do you notice it but there is some lag in UI but it seems that it is better when you turn of animations in developer options.Did you buy Next launcher or you downloaded pirated app?

Hi!
I have now experience with 3 different ROMs and I've noticed something: The launcher gets some laggy scrolling when there are lots of icons on the homescreen. In contrast with a fresh install even the TW-launcher scrolls smoothly...
I had:
-stock ROM (KKA)
-custom LB1 (GB with stock launcher)
-custom LB1 (GB, ICS-theme, GO EX launcher)
With Midnote 1.5 I even experienced two ROMs: At first Midnote 1.0, stock launcher scrolls smoothly. Then Midnote 1.5 with GO EX launcher, fresh install runs smoothly, after installing lots of programs and shortcuts on the homescreen scrolling is laggy...
Anyone an idea how to solve this problem? RAM is only half full and both storage/program memory is sufficiant...
Move some to another screen. Problem solved!

If you have any transparent widgets on your homescreen, get rid of them. I removed a couple and noticed huge difference on ADW Launcher Ex.
Seriously, we have a 1.4GHz Exynos and the solution is to not use transparent widgets and get rid of icons on homescreens? LOL
Two solutions:
1. Upgrade to ICS. I know the launcher lag very well and have never experienced it on any of the ICS leaks. Obviously there are some small issues with the leak being 1.2Ghz or AOSP not having video recording, SoD, battery drain, etc etc. So...
2. Stay with GB and use [KERNEL][GPL][11 MAR - #9] franco.Kernel Honestly, I have tried most every kernel around here and this one is the only one that has never bogged down with GB. Personally, I think #6 is the best for stability and battery performance (but I haven't tried #9 that just dropped today).
::edit::
Just remembered Franco doesn't leave previous version on his OP. So here is the link to #6

EXACTLY my thinking, thanks!
So the franco kernel helped a little bit but not much. Still noticeably laggy. Funny thing is that switching in the system settings from "some animations" to "full animations" made it also a bit less laggy...

With Gingerbread, yes. That is the only solution for an unrooted user using 3rd party launcher. Touchwiz launcher is properly hardware accelerated but since it doesn't have the ability to resize widgets (and most widgets do not stretch to the 5th column on Galaxy Note), we need to rely on 3rd party launchers.
I am hoping all this will change with ICS.
I switched to TwLauncher for comparison. Now I have:
-5 homescreens
-7 widgets
-62 shortcuts
Scrolling is smooth, sometimes a little stutter on the stopping motion. But by far better than with Go launcher EX...
Hey,
I've got a short question here... Any launcher I have tried, e.g Nova Launcher, Action Launcher, Apex etc... have this problem
When I pull the notification drawer up and down, or slide it slowly, I notice a slight lag or choppiness which I don't find at all the the stock "Home" launcher.
I'm a bit tired with the standard icons for Optimus UI and want to try a launcher, but there seems to be none without this problem.
Especially at the home screen, it lags
That's odd as the status bar is part of system ui and not controlled by the launcher. Did you do a reset on your upgrade to JB? If not do it

I did go to the recovery and do a factory reset. But the problem is only with custom launchers.
I upgraded to JB, did my usualy thing and kept using Nova launcher. After I noticed the lag, I did a factory reset, but it didn't help.
I believe it has something to do with the wallpaper/homescreen, as I am in apps or something, the notification drawer does not lag.
+1
I knw d fact tht it's no where related n thus status bar shouldn't b affected in anyway bt still d problem persists.

Try enabling "force GPU rendering"

I tried that too before posting here, did not help.
I can confirm this. In V20a I had lag with the notification drawer with Nova launcher. It was not severe but It was noticeable.
Also in Cyanogenmod the bar lags, but only when you draw it in home screen. In app is fine

Thanks for the tip, worked for me too ( Im on CM 10.2 btw)
Hi there !
Many of you probably noticed dropping frames when you're pulling down notification bar. It's somewhere below 30 fps ( ****, my spica was smoother) and is very noticeable and ****ty. And it affects only the bar, if you have wallpaper on notification wallpaper will be scrolling at 60 fps and bar will be lagging.
Stock doesn't have this problem but every AOSP-based rom does ( CM, PAC , AOKP) .
This lagging occurs only when on launcher home screen, in apps it is smooth. Could someone shed some light on us why it happens ?
Only solution I found is to use Trebuchet and enable Quick wallpaper rendering. When enabled bar is smooth again. But Apex and NOva don't have this feature....
I found people with same problem on HOX and GNote II forums, that was were I found the fix:
enable Quick wallpaper rendering.
Could some dev say something about his ?
I've also noticed that lag and I 've enalbled the "Quick render hack", but it still lags...
Well i thought Nova and Apex are "good" launchers...
Anyone can confirm that on stock lag appears when using beforementioned launchers ?
Is there a possibility to use stock LG launcher on CM ??
For me it was lagging also on stock rom with stock LG launcher, but I haven't tried LG launcher in CM...

Hey how do u activate Quick Wallpaper rendering on LG O4X but???
I am using cm & get the notification pull down lag in every launcher except the LG launcher.
It's only on Trebuchet CM. In settings, trebuchet.
My notification bar is hidden while in lockscreen but when i unlock my phone it takes a second to appear in homescreen. In addition i have set the notification bar to transparent and it takes an other second to turn transparent. Its so annoying, can i fix it somehow?
Im running Revolution HD 12.2 with Nova Launcher and Widget Locker
It's a "bug" of the stock rom, and it's also in the ARHD.
For example, i'm on Viper, and i can use the black statusbar, so i don't have this bug
so there is no way to fix it?

You can try to theme the statusbar to dark and see.
In ViperOne, with a black statusbar, there isn't the issue.
Can you link me a statusbar?
Just installed StatusBar+ didn't work out. Someone an idea how to fix this?
Mine dosnt do that. It might be because of 1 of your apps
I got Widgetlocker and Novalauncher Prime. Also tested Apex Launcher but didn't work either. No solutions?

It's the launcher causing the problem.... ARHD 12.2 with sense launcher does not have this issue
Any suggestion for other decent Launcher?

Hey Guys.
I think now we all know that pulling the Notification drawer is very laggy, but in many apps its buttery smooth. So i think the problem is the drawer combined with the launcher. On Nova Launcher i found a fix for this. My Notification drawer is very smooth now, like in the apps where it was smooth before. The Only thing i did was:
Nova Settings -> Desktop -> Wallpaper Scrolling-> and now tick Force (in german Kraft). Its designed for other phones which dont support wallpaper scrolling but it increases the smoothness of the drawer extremly
I hope i could help somebody. This was the only thing what annoyed me on aosp roms
