What's your purpose of rooting? To unroot you will have to flash back a stock ROM.

Just wanted to get rid of bloatware unwanted stock apps to improve battery life& create memory

OK..you could try unroot from the supersu app.

So if I root via super su app can I unroot back via resetting factory settings.

If you root with the superuser app then you can easily unroot by going into the superusers app settings.

Can you plz post a.link to super user app .lots of confusion.

Doing a factory reset will not unroot the device. It just cleans the data. You also will not get back the uninstalled apps.

There is no link. You will need to install philz kernel to root. Once done root access will be there and a root manager app like superuser or supersu in the app drawer.

When I root will my data pics music and apps deleted?

No, unless you decide to do otherwise.

I might have deleted something from system/app, if I do a factory reset and retry will it work?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Nope...im in the same boat...
They told me you have to reinstall the missing system apps...
At the moment im searching for the stock at&t boot logo....any ideas?
You are rooted obviously
1. Backup apps with Titanium Backup
2. Flash Stock ICS with RSD
3. Root again and restore apps
4. Update to JB
I will do the same

Go to the Opti thrust ROM thread in Development section. I have provided the flashable zip for the Super SU file. Find it in troubleshooting .
And please use the search next time before posting.

Maybe you have accidentally disabled USB debugging in developer options? That might cause issues with root access.

[Q] help me in a complicated situation

i rooted my galaxy pop GT-S5570, partitioned my sd card and installed link2sd app, installed cwm 4.0.0.5 and installed custom rom cymogenmod 10.1 jellybean 4.2.2 and downloaded supersu app one day i cleared my phone and i forgot that uninstalling supersu app by normal method will unroot my phone now i cant access any root based app like link2sd and rom toolbox etc which i need badly also it tells about something called as su binary (i have no idea what is su binary) updated which fails by normal and does not take any action by manually doing it through recovery mode(cwm)
pls help me
CM10.1/2 has it's on superuser app in settings. Try to open it and see if you can update binaries.

There is no option to update su binary nor a pop out window comes to update it on its superuser app

su binary is Superuser itself.
If you install SuperSU from Google Play, and you "cleared" your phone the root access won't be removed. Since the thing that root your phone isn't SuperSU but it's the su binary.
So if i successfully update su binary i can get the full root access back

unroor and root again

maybe I posted this question in the wrong thread: I need to use an app that doesn't work with rooted device, is there a method to un-root a rooted custom rom (for me Asylum rom) for some time and then root it again?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Have you tried to go into superuser and disable the root access?

restore with out root?

Hello Ive seen a post on how to restore with root, But I would like to restore with out root, can someone please point me in the right direction. thanks.
BTW this is for the Verizon sch-1800
What do you mean by "restoring"? Restocking ? Restore from backup?
You need root to do these things...
Incorrect. Restoring from nandroid needs only the custom recovery.
Restoring system apps and data using tools like Titanium backup requires root.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
But you need root to install custom recovery. Is it right?
Nope. Just flash a kernel that has cwm using Odin/heimdall. ( example: overcome kernel 4.0)
No root needed. Just boot to download mode, flash. Done.

I'm sorry I guess I wasn't clear with my question I want to restock my device to factory stock and be rid of root and superuser.
