[MOD][L5 II] Xperience Xperia - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Themes and Apps

Hello Everyone.
This is as far as I know the first mod for the LG Optimus L5 II.
the thing that I missed the most about my Xperia Go is the media apps and the ability to play my media threw the TV.
so I ported it to my device.
first of I need to give thanks to djedjy for making this all possible this mod was taken from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309620
ROOT
now to get started you are going to need to root your phone. follow my thread to find out how its done.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455373
Step 1
Install Busy Box
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
you need to just do a normal install of busy box
Step 2
Install Flash Gordon
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250555
Step 3
Download My Mod
you can find it here
www.slipsystem.co.za/Software/android/XperienceXperia.zip
then extract the zip file
inside the zip you will find folders labeled step 1 - 7 put all these folders on your sdcard(internal storage)
Step 4(optional)
if you want to debloat your phone flash the zip called debloat in the step one folder.
this will remove the apps mentioned in my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455373
if not skip to step 5
Step 5(optional)
if you want to remove the stock music videos gallery and keyboad flash the zip in step 2 folder called prepxperia
if not skip to step 6
Step 6
Flash xperiaapps found in step 3 folder
Step 7
reboot and install the apps found in step 4 folder
Now you should have 3 new apps Walkman, Albums, Movies and a new xperia keyboard.
Step 8(Reserved)
if you are feeling brave you can deodex some apps by flashing the zip in step 5 folder called deodex prep then the zip in step 6 called deodexedapps then fix the permissions bu flashing the zip in step 7
deodexing is a work in progress as flash gordon needs the system to stay open and im not sure what will happen if I delete all the apps in my system/apps folder when the system is still running.
If you want to help deodexing it would be much appreciated but I just wanted to give you guys a taster and to show you that it is possible.
If you like my work don't be shy hit thank or tell me what you think.

ok so I noticed that Flash Gordon is very sensitive to copying files to other locations.
in the event that you get file is not a valid zip in Flash Gordon.
Extract the zip using winrar or and other zip program
Push the files into the specified directory's using Root Explorer or the program of your choice...
Alternatively you can download a base flash-able zip by doing a search on xda
open the zip using winrar delete all the files inside the zip and replace them with the files in mine

I think you need to replace Vending.apk. First you try to install like a normal application, if it doesn't then replace your Vending.apk (it might install as an update).
I just installed the apk from Dropbox and it worked perfectly.
You shouldn't need to replace in /system/app manually
Is the download link in the OP for a apk file or a zip? I dloaded and it came thru as a zip file. I tried installing thru cwm but the installation aborted. When i explored the file thru astro file I found no apk inside it. How do I install this or am I completely missing something

[cm10/AOSP][how to] change the background image of the settings menu/contacts/dialer

Time to update this
Older data on howto change manually is in the spoiler below
Hi all, this is a copy of my thread for galaxy s2
This guide is split into two parts as of now , part 1 is for changing the settings menu background and part 2 is for changing the backgground for dialer and contacts.
Part -1
may be this method is known to few but im posting this to people who dont know how to change the background image of the settings menu and other few.
Sample screenshots

}
Like it?
here is the method to do this.
Software needed :
1.7zip (to replace the image)
2.android sdk(to use adb commands to push/pull the files)
How it works:
We are modifying/replacing an image called "background_holo_dark.png" in the "framework-res.apk" which is responsible for displaying background images in menu.
Step 1:
Use the following adb command below to pull the "framework-res.apk" from your mobile to pc.
Code:
adb pull system/framework/framework-res.apk
Step 2:
Open the framework-res.apk via 7zip and navigate to the following directory
"framework-res.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\", you will see a file called "background_holo_dark.png". Delete the image and dont close the 7zip.
Preparing your own image:
Now use any png image you want to set as background , resize it to 512 x 512 via mspaint or any other image editing software and rename the file to "background_holo_dark.png".
Drag the newly created image file back to 7zip(to the same directory where the old file is deleted) and close the 7 zip .
Step 3:
Now its time to push the file back to mobile, type the following command in the same command prompt
Code:
adb remount
now type the following
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework
Step 4:
Now reboot your mobile, you will have the new background image enabled
Part-2
Wanna change the background of the dialer and contacts?? well read below,
Step 1:
Use the adb command (or u can use root explorer) to pull the "Contacts.apk" from your mobile to pc.
Step 2:
Open the Contacts.apk via 7zip and navigate to the following directory
"Contacts.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\", you will see a file called "background_dial_holo_dark.png". Delete the image and dont close the 7zip.
Drag the image (similar to the one created in part 1 of the guide) file back to 7zip(to the same directory where the old file is deleted) and close the 7 zip .
Step 3:
Now its time to push/copy back the file back to mobile. Copy back the file to the same directory from where it is copied.
Step 4:
Now reboot your mobile, you will have the new background image enabled
Your dialer and contacts shortcut may be missing from your launcher, just drag it back to the homescreen from the app drawer.
Step:5
This step is optional!!! If you do not get those shortcuts, enter cwm and wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Sample screenshots.
Note:
For users who know how to use root explorer can use the same to copy/paste the framework-res.apk before and after editing.
Sample images are taken with 160 dpi, this mod will work with all dpi.
Instructions:
1. Download the zip from the download section below and open it in 7zip.
2. Navigate to the following directory "\mode\system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-nodpi\".(Sample images on post 2)
3. Change the images "background_holo_dark.png" and "background_holo_dark.png" as per your wish.
4. Flash it

This sounds like an Awesome guide but I do have one question, will this work on CM7 as cm9 is not out yet for my T-989 SG2? I have looked for the background_holo_dark.png and I'm not seeing it in the frameworks. I've used 7zip and then decompiled but haven't found it. If not, would you happen to have any other guides for cm7 that may do the same thing?..
Thanks,
Derek

Use root explorer or other file manager with root access and go to system/apps folder, this is the place for all system applications. If you are not sure abt permissions then long press on any system. Apk and check its permissions, these should be the permissions for all new files you are going to paste. You can change permissions by long pressing. apk and clicking on permissions.
Correct permission should be like attached screenshot.

Rooting doesn't change stock rom to custom, it will remain stock and you can copy files to system after root. All you need is just to root your Note.
Are you asking about any particular .md5 file or in general?

Some custom roms dont have the live wallpaper function enabled....Actually the file to make it work is deleted along with other files to make roms bareboned.
This is a guide to enable live wallpapers on those roms....

Steps:
1. Download the attachment (LiveWallpapersPicker.apk), Put it on your SD.

3. After moving the file long press on the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk and select permissions from the menu, then set permissions as rw-r-r- (see screenshot)

3. After moving the file long press on the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk and select permissions from the menu, then set permissions as rw-r-r- (see screenshot)
Download your favourite live wallpaper, apply it and enjoy

Hi
I hope you get this. I have a galaxy gear all rooted and with null 15 rom. I have everything set as per your directions. In fact it was already preset that way including permissions. Nothing works. I'm really just trying to get bubbles running with no luck either. Any other possable sugestions would be greatly appreciated. Also do you happen to know what I can do to unblock bluetooth tether on my t889 note 2 . Thank you
hi. thanks for this tutorial. however when trying to apply a wallpaper the app crashes. ..
I'm running android 4.2.1
any help with this?
thanks!
nevermind , got the correct apk and now good to go, thanx!
same problem...
Any help with this again?
I was able to get it to work before, but now just fc.
Can't figure it out.
JB 4.2.1 (I think I have the right apk)
If anyone knows where to find the exact match, please post the link, as maybe this is the problem?
Pushed to system, changed perms etc.
I do notice that the LWP option under wallpapers is with "apps" not in a separate section as I remember it to be...
The only other thing I can figure is flashing a zip through recovery, but I don't see any zips for a LWP...
Doing this for my wife, as I got me a new device, help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

[RELEASE] "New" Android N bootanimation

Hi!
Can someone create or explain how to make a bootanimation based of the new update images?
See the following link:. www.androidpolice.com/2016/05/20/an...oper-preview-3-except-its-not-quite-ready-yet
Succeeded in creating one! Based on the animation during the Dev Preview 3 update.
Just a sloppy release, I cba to make a fade in/out. If you got spare time for that, feel free to edit.
See the preview image below.

You would need to dig into the new recovery image and find them.
I've meddled a little with that before but not enough to tell you exactly how to do it.

Yeah, it was hard to find which file the images was in. Managed to get all the files, am busy creating a bootanimation now.
If it all works well, ill post it in here
You want a boot animation of the new updating screen, correct?

Neat. [emoji14]
Don't think I've seen that one. Reminds me of Motorola, a little.

Kudos, this isn't bad at all! Even though it reminds me of a LSD trip lol
Any idea what will happen if I try it on a different phone with a different screen resolution? I have a nexus 5

Try it , the worse that could happen is it doesn't work or it looks like crap and you have to go back .
Just tried this on my Nexus 4, works well but it is little big for our resolution. If someone make this for our Nexus 4 that will be amazing, nice work though!
after flashing zip if something went wrong as i am using multirom( some CMTE bootanimation results in bootloops) how to revert back?

make a Nandroid Backup and test it. if it gives you bootloop, just restore your backup.

Do it yourself instead if sounding rude when asking for someone else's work. You didn't even use please or thank you...
Inside any bootanimation.zip, you'll find desc.txt. The first two numbers are your screen resolution and the third is the rate that it plays(I believe).
You're welcome. ?
