Hey guys. So, I want unlock my bootloader, but I have maaaany questions.
This Xperia X8 was of my friend. He gave it to me. Time ago he tried to unlock the bootloader, it seemed to be successful, but he hardbricked the phone. Fortunately, the phone was under warranty, so he sent the phone at S.E . Now it is in my hands. :good:
First, I put custom roms. First, Froyo Pro, now I have MiniCM7. Now I want unlock the bootloader for a custom kernel.
I searched many threads, and I read this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693308
Do you think this is good? I know that unlock the bootloader is dangerous, but this procedure is a little bit more safe?
My friend had followed another tutorial, but I think he failed because he was on PrimeHD when he tried to unlock, and in the PC : No PCC companion.
I read that, I MUST HAVE stock rom and PCC Companion. Is this right? I have MiniCM, if I use PCC Companion, can I have the right stock rom?
It is possibly to unlock the bootloader , even if the phone was sent to S.E for repair?
Now, in the battery I read 11w15, and in the inside of the phone,
IC: 41708-A3880091 FYT 12W08
It is possibly to unlock?
If yes, anyway can someone give me support?
Thanks guys
DONT unlock it, you could end up again with a hard bricked X8

2) After unlocking my bootloader, how do I switch ROMs, Is it like normal or do I need to go back to 2.1 first AND GO BACK TO STOCK KERNEL?
3) Do I need to be on stock ROM to unlock my boorloader?
4) What is the best kernel and ROM combination for you? - PLEASE ANSWER THE POLL ABOVE.
5) Can I Sim Unlock my phone later after unlocking the bootloader?
6) How do I return back to stock kernel?
7) If I go back to stock ROM will my bootloader be locked again?
8) If my phone gets accidentally bricked during bootloader unlock process, can I unbrick it?

YEAH...what the proper prepaired????
this my answer..
1) look on my signature (easiest guide unlocking bootloader)
2) flash custom kernel and flash rom (no need back to 2.1 or stock)
3) Yes Unlocking with stock rom
4) It depend on U (for me i wanna the rom with the nice and beauty colour one)
I use "TIM3 v1" + "nAa v8b" ( I mean where u wanna go with fast speed?)
5) YES
6) Use flash tool and download stock kernel (search it on XDA)
7) NO -u can unlock by easiest guide (on my signature there)
8) U can't DIY...(if your phone still under warranty send to them)
for me i got 4 times hardbricked and they repair for me without fee
BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS 11W28 BELOW
(see on phone..PULL OUT YOUR BATTERY AND YOU CAN FIND THERE
hope this help
1.The easiest way to unlock bootloader is with s1 tool. Just connect your phone with usb debugging on and open s1tool and unlock bootloader.( It might brick your phone, I dont recommend you to unlock bootloader)
2.Unlocking bootloader does not change your rom, If you are on 2.1 then it will not affect it. Switching between roms is very easy, just use recovery. For kernel use flashtool
3.You dont need to be on stock rom to unlock bootloader, it can be done through custom roms also
4.From my opinion alfs v6+gingierdx is great. It is very fast for daily use but not very good for hd games.
5.Dont know
6.You can always return back to stock kernel using flashtool and stock kernel ftf
7.Your bootloader will not be lock if you go back to stock rom
8.You cant unbrick your phone if it is bricked during unlocking bootloader, you have to send it to sony ericsson for repair
Thanks very much guys, but I am scared if I brick my device as I can't unbrick it then
I told u...check the MFC date (pull out your battery)
see the **W** (date of manufactoring)
If '11W28' = 2011 week 28
bellow 11W28 is safe..
Above 11W29 is risky..
but nobody force u to unlocking it..
but (also) some nice and beauty rom need custom rom
it totally can't run on stock rom...that why i got my 4th bricked yesterday..
and got a new X8 today with 11W23....
release my tension because can't unlocking bootloader

NO.. not for a hardbrick....
check out some newest threads here which hard brick because of bootloader unlock.. almost all of them not solved and go to SE center..
Ya unlocking bootloader is a bit risky!
Be Careful if your planning to unlock it.
Thanks guys for your help, I really apreciate it. For me the date is not a problem. However is there a possibility of getting bricked during unlocking the bootloader? Well atleaset has anyone bricked their device by unlocking the bootloader and fix it without sending the phone?

U mean if we go back to stock 2.1 with unlocked bootloader, we get bricked?
1) What is the best and easiest way of unlocking the bootloader? From 2nd reply.
2) After unlocking my bootloader, how do I switch ROMs, Is it like normal or do I need to go back to 2.1 first AND GO BACK TO STOCK KERNEL?
You don't need to go back to stock. The unlock won't do a thing with the rom.
3) Do I need to be on stock ROM to unlock my boorloader?
I could only unlock my bootloader from stock 2.1 (tried under GingerDX), but from stock it was easy.
4) What is the best kernel and ROM combination for you? - PLEASE ANSWER THE POLL ABOVE.
For me it's FroyoPro 2.3 ans Alfs
5) Can I Sim Unlock my phone later after unlocking the bootloader?
Can't say... mine was simfree out of the box. (If your phone is not simfree be aware! not all can be unlocked and could cause hard brick)
6) How do I return back to stock kernel?
Just flash back stock kernel file.
7) If I go back to stock ROM will my bootloader be locked again?
No, the bootloader cannot be locked again.
8) If my phone gets accidentally bricked during bootloader unlock process, can I unbrick it?[/B]
At home it is really unlikeley. There are special cables that can do the trick, but they need an expertised technician and a lot of money (for the cable)
Hope it helped for you
My phone is a 11W23 white one with cypress and is unlocked. For You what is the best? What You want? Speed, stability, low battery drainage, cool 3D games etc... For me it was little battery use and high speed with a tad of cool UI.. for this FroyoPro 2.3 and Alfs (Alfs is not needed for froyo pro! so no need to unlock only for that)
Ok thanks guys for answering all my questions about unlocking bootloader. All my doubts are clear
My X8 was rooted and unlocked bootloader. I know that I will lost my guarantee.
But I have problem with my LCD touchscreen. It's the hardware problem, not software. So, I think I can get my guarantee.
how SEC identify the rooted and unlocked phone?? Can I get my guarantee back??

I read that re-locking a bootloader with a custom kernel installed would brick your phone, is that not correct? I belive the correct way would to be to reflash your phone to stock using SEUS and then lock the bootloader?
I'm not saying that eagleeyetom is wrong, I'm fairly new to this type of thing but I do remember the unlockbootloader guide stating not to relock bootloader with a custom Kernel installed as you'd brick the phone. Just trying to help
thanks for help.
my touchscreen is broken. I wanna change it to the new one.
I should relock my phone, right??
Are they check the software?? I think i've got the hardware problem..
Yeah, you're right. You should first flash stock kernel and then re-lock.
thanks.. i'll try it..
So, i got myself a x8 (already have a Htc desire z, fully rooted and unlocked) since i had to renew contract and they basically gave it away (10dls/12months)
The problem is its 11w45, so from what i've been reading, its too risky to unlock bootloader.
So, my question is, is it still good to root? (using oneclick)
and also, what things can i do with just root?? and what things can i only do with an unlocked bootloader? (im already guessing that flashing kernels will be a no, for what ive read)
Thanks for all help
Coldsun15
You can root without any problems, instal xrecovery and cwm,but wait for bootloader...some people work to break SE protection in newest kernel
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2 Beta-2
And for root use fleshtool, and also instal xrecovery, after that instal cwm
And you can istal gb 2.3 Rom for stock kernel

Hi dude!
I recommend you to just root your phone, install xRecovery and flash a custom ROM.. Unlocking bootloader is not successful for everyone.. check the back of your phone, under the battery there is a code formatted like (ex.mine is 12W04)
If this code is under 11W29 so it's 11W28,11W27 etc you can unlock bootloader.. Else you will get a hardbrick as I did and then u must send ur phone to SE good luck

I was too curious about the unlocking bootloader thing and I tried it before reading the date on the back of my phone.. Actually I was pretty close, my date was 11W31 but still.. 11W29+ gets bricked soo I got hard brick, nothing worked,no screen no led no vibration.. Just a dead X8 xD
What a shame! My phone is 10w44, it's impossible to brick it

Thanks everyone for their answers!!! I'll stay around to see if someone comes up with a solution to the bootloader!!

hi all i am having many doubts regarding installing custom rom please help me...
my doubts are
1.Do i need to unlock my boot loader to update my baseband
2.Will the unlocked boot loader stay always so that i can flash many kernel and custom rom or do i need to unlock each time
3.After unlocking which case should i relock my baseband
i am sorry if these questions are very basic i am very much confused
1.No, it is nor required to unlock the bootloader to update the baseband.
2.Yes, it will always stay unlocked even if you restore with PC Companion or SEUS.
3.You should relock it if you are sending the phone for repair at Sony Ericsson.
First check manufacture date before proceding to unlock bootloader.
Sent from my E15i using XDA
As said above, check manufacturingdate. IF above 11w29 then dont try to unlock. Chances are youll be ending upp with a brick.
Sent from my X8 using XDA
Thank you everyone now my doubts have been cleared thank you all
sorry i am having another last doubt
Do i need to unlock my boot loader to update my kernel
Yep, it's a must.

If it is an offical update from SE, that doesn't need to unlock.
If it is kernel, rom bla bla bla from this FORUM, Mostly rom will need you to use the kernel, thus it is a must to unlock the bootloader.
So, if you're using original eclair, planning update it, there's is no risk except for electrical trip suddenly happen

Hi, I unlocked the bootloader on my xperia t lt30p one time with intention to root it and install custom roms but never did as I nearly bricked it when putting a kernel on. I managed to put what I think is a stock kernel and rom back on, but I went to update it the other day and pc companion says that it could not complete the operation because the phone has been modified. I read somewhere that having the bootloader unlocked can cause this, so I wish to re lock it. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial to do so? Cheers...

the link provided by our friend is quite good, that's where you have to head over
and about the tutorial, tha't so easy, just flash that FTF file via Flashtools
power off your phone, open flashtools, select flash logo, then FLASH MODE, then connect your phone as you are pressing down the VOLUME DOWN button, and let it do the rest
disconnect and enjoy your relocked bootloader
So I won't need to re flash the rom again? sorry. I'm a bit of a noob at phone modding. Pc's I can do. Not phones yet. Hahaha.
no, flash the relock ftf found in the dev section, and it just relocks your bootloader, your rom will stay the same

RElock won't affect you rom, BUT if you unlcok AGAIN, then at the very first start up of the phone when it is the first time after RE-UNlocking, it will have a factory reset
just wanted to let you know
but for now, NO, it won't touch your firmware
Just done it. Worked. Cheers guys,
