[HTC ONE] Unroot then root "security warning" - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
After few months with my HTC One rooted and unlocked (running the Google developer edition 4.3), I wanted to unroot my phone (especially to use Barclay's app which doesn't work if the phone is rooted).
after a "fastboot oem lock", I have an "***Security warning ***" at boot. I know that I have to install everything using a RUU file, but when I try to, I've got another error message which say something like "can't install, hboot older".
Tried everything since few days and can't make it work. Any idea would be appreciated!
More details about my phone:
HTC One EE mobile UK (unbranded)
HBOOT-1.54.0000
Radio-4A.17.3250.14
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
cid-HTC_001
Thanks!

Do you have the stock rom?
And however, for unroot you don't have to relock bootloader, but unroot lol
For the ruu, yes, you can downgrande only if you have the S-OFF

Yep, I currently got the stock rom.
What I would like is actually get my phone exactly the same than before I made all these geeky things (unroot, unlock...).
Thanks for your answer!

Is there anyway for me to run an "unlock" using fastboot?

Re-unlock the bootloader with the code.bin of htc.
After flash the stock rom and the stock recovery and then relock the bootloader for returning stock and get the OTA

Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697 and download: HTC Sync (Installed then uninstalled for ADB drivers).
IncS main version downgrade toolkit v2.0.
RUU used for downgrade.
Extract all the files from the downgrade toolkit to your PC and run runme.cmd, following the instructions on screen.
Then run the RUU Downgrade (takes a while, around 10 mins so be patient).
When its finished running, you can verify if you have 1.13.0000 hboot by entering hboot (power on phone + vol down).
Then you can run revolutionary to get your s-off!

It is an attempt by HTC open up the phone for customization by developers. It unlocks the bootloader so that you can flash a custom recovery, a custom ROM and a custom boot image, but it falls short of being full S-OFF (security off).
If you have installed the latest OTA update which updates the phone to Android 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 then the HBOOT version is 2.00.0000 which cannot be S-OFF or downgraded, so unlocking at HTCDEV is your only choice at this point in time to root your phone.

[help] back to stock

hello! I have to send my HTC One in for warrenty:
I am now s-off, bootloader locked, super-CID, custom Rom, HBoot 1.44.0000, custom recovery.
What do i have to do bevore sending it in? My One is from T-Mobile germany. Firmware version 1.29.111.11
If i runn an RUU does it flash stock recovery? or do have have to do this manually?
Instead of running a RUU (i cant find an t-mobile germany ruu) is it possible to flash a stock nanadroid backup (http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/444-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-t-mob101-1281116/ ?)?
how do i get S-on again?
OK, now i am back to T-MOB101 cid! Am i now able to flash this nandroid backup (http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/444-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-t-mob101-1281116/ ) ? Or is there anything to do before?
does anyone know where to find stock T-Mobile germy revovery? or can i simply use the 401 one?

yes since you have s-off you can use revone again to "lock" your bootloader and remove "tampered" flag after this, don't forget to go back to s-on again. then you should be completely stock.

i can't say for sure. i'd recommend you to use revone, it's safer in my opinion. you've used revone to get s-off, didn't you? so just do the same again and use the instructions in the revone thread (i already postet the link for you)
the s-on function should work fine, but WAIT, first "lock" the bootloader..

[Q] S-OFF Through HTC Dev with 1.54 Firmware

Hi guys,
just one quick question. I have my phone stuck in S-ON after upgrading into new firmware (HBOOT 1.54). It is clear that revone (the one I used to S-OFF the first time) is currently unable to S-OFF my phone right now. Therefore now I'm considering S-OFF through HTC Dev. Will HTC Dev S-OFF work with 1.54 HBOOT?
Another question would be, apart from getting wiped and lose some application, what disadvantage will S-OFF through HTC Dev brings?
Thanks for the help
you can unlock the bootloader and install custom roms/kernels but no s-off, which might be a problem if you need to send your phone to warranty because they could deny warranty on the re/unlocked status of the bootloader.

I didn't S-ON it on purpose. It went S-ON automatically after firmware update and few resets. I have no slightest idea why it went S-ON. So... it seems I'm doomed for now...

With the HTC ONE toolkit you can unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery.
Very easy. I'm in the same situation at this moment. hboot 1.54.
I also got a question about this.
When I'm in the toolkit and I want to use the mainver error fix I always get Device not Found. Is this also because i'm on hboot 1.54 or maybe not a correct setting somwhere (adb?).

Go there, register an account
http://www.htcdev.com/
after that click on the "developer center" button and right in the middle you will find a "unlock bootloader" button
click on it, follow instructions, but make sure you have a full backup of your storage cause it will be erased
S-OFF is a security flag that gives you permission to "play" with organic partitions of the devices system in a way
you don't need it for having custom recovery, after you unlock you can flash a recovery the exact same way you did with S-OFF or restore a backup you did before reverting to complete stock
S-OFF for most users is only a solution to not losing warranty after unlocking as unlocking actually voids your software warranty and in a way the hardware warranty as HTC can claim that the unofficial software you used actually damaged the device.
If I helped to make you understand in any way I am glad but please if you don't understand what these procedures do or how they work in a general sense it's better not to use/perform them, if you are in any way like me who spent the better part of a salary to buy this phone it would be a shame wasting all that money bricking it out of ignorance, if not, it's still a shame.

Yea it wipes everything so I suggest you back up anything important to you before you unlock... And there aren't any other cons except the fact that it will wipe EVERYTHING (apps, contacts synced with phone, music, pictures, etc.), thats the only con to it

I think there is some confusion here for the OP.
First, S-off and unlocking your bootloader are 2 completely different things. To install custom recoveries, and therefore custom Roms and kernels, you need an unlocked bootloader (I am not sue what all the talk of relocking was about). The only way for you to unlock at this point is with HTCdev, and this will wipe your device unfortunately. Their are guides to unlocking and rooting your phone in this very forum

Firstly you dont need s-on to flash roms
you can flash any rom with s-on
the thing you should have an unlocked bootloader to flash custom roms
and for the unrooting thing..you can just do it with SuperSu or SuperUser what eva you are using..i think there's an option in settings of that app
If you want to get OTA's you need to install stock recovery

there's this All in One Kit some were in Android Development section
with that you dont need to type any adb or fastboot commands you can readymadely remove the tampered message or relock the bootloader with just one click

Yes S-off is only for hboot 1.44 versions

[Q] HTC One reboot into bootloader

Hi
My HTC One keeps rebooting into the bootloader every time i turn it on, but if i say reboot, it boots up normally.
I decided to unlock my bootloader and the root the device, but i regret after unlocking the bootloader, so i decided to lock it. But now it just says "relocked" and "security warning". The reason it annoys me, is that i can't install the latest OTA update, because it just reboots into bootloader, and when i say "reboot" it boots up normally and the update is NOT installed.
What do you think i should do?
BTW, sorry if my english isn't perfect...

Are you still using a custom recovery? You have to flash stock recovery for OTAs.
Cant help you in detail but...
-you can change "Unlocked" to "Locked" with revone S Off
-it seems like you dont have any rom installed... you should flash a stock nandroid backup.. you can found it in the general forum.

Yes, and it is S-OFF, so nothing wrong there either. Should i run an ruu? And if so should where can i find the right one? BTW, it doesn't say "security warning".

Well custom recovery won't let you get OTA. But your are S-Off :good: excellent.
So first thing I would do, is use revone to get rid of "TAMPERED" and change "RELOCKED" to "LOCKED".
Keep S-Off !!
And finally run your RUU, that would reflash hboot, stock recovery, stock radio, stock ROM... all back to stock, and you should receive the OTAs.
(Remember keep S-Off, cause once you receive the OTA it has an updated hboot which will not allow you to S-Off again)

It is "relocked", and i have the stock rom, the problem is that whenever i run out of juice, and boot it back up, it boots into the bootloader.

Are you still S-Off? If yes, then you can downgrade your hboot to 1.44 no problem. You can either use a RUU or look if you can find an hboot image to flash using fastboot.

There are plenty of RUUs here: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=M7
if you can't find one for your CID, just change it to SuperCID for the duration of the process; remember you'll only need to downgrade to be able to run revone successfully, after that you can reflash whatever ROM, firmware, etc you choose.
EDIT: nevermind the above, i misread and thought you still had s-off. my bad.
EDIT 2: did you at least flash back stock recovery? if you're still on custom recovery that will cause problems.

Ok, so I misunderstood a bit.

If I understand correctly after downloading the OTA, you try to install it. The OTA will reboot into bootloader during that process. Correct?
Can't really think of a reason it's doing that, but if it is try going to "recovery" from the bootloader menu not "reboot", and see if it starts installing.
