Hi, i have installed SlimBean ROM on my Note and CWM Recovery 6.0.3.2.
I read on forums that for latest CyanogenMod 10.2 i need newer CWM Recovery(ccurrent version 6.0.3.8).
I search how to upgrade to latest CWM Recovery and i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
And here is link for download latest version for N7000:
http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=25295#files
But i'm confused now, is on that link only CWM Recovery or is that Kernel with CWM?
Can i flash that file through current CWM Recovery (zip file) and get latest CWM Recovery Version?
Or can you tell me how to get latest CWMR Version.
I don't want use Custom ROM's based on Samsung firmware, i prefer CM based Custom ROM's (SlimBean and Bam Andorid),
so that's reason why i'm confused most about upgrading CWMR.
Thanks
You will have to use a kernel which has updated recovery.
please send me xda clockworkmod recovery for galaxy gt-n7000 for omni and tell me how to install

I have n7000 and i am not very good in gadgets but you know i want to try kitkat.

Hi guys,
I am getting an error as you were getting when trying to install a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S.
I am currently running on stock Gingerbread 2.3.3.
Baseband version : I9000DDJV5
Kernel Version: [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDJV9
I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick and installed ROM Manager on it. Then, I flashed ClockworkMod recovery using it. Now, I am trying to flash Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my device and have downloaded it and kept it in the root directory of the SDcard. Now, whether I go to recovery mode manually or using ROM Manager, I am getting the error as below:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid Argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Also, I get only four options in the recovery mode, viz, reboot, apply update from SDcard, wipe data, wipe cache partition.
I get the same error when I try to Backup my current ROM using ROM Manager.
I searched through threads and found that some people have had similar errors but there is no solution I could find which worked for me.
I have tried clearing my download cache. Also, the download is not corrupt as I am getting the same error when trying to create a back up..
Is there any way I can correct this? Or is there any other work around for flashing like using Odin? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, I can get into download mode..but how to proceed after that?
I am currently running on my stock rom JV9.. so, you mean to say that I should first upgrade to JVU using download mode and then proceed to upgrading it further?
Can you please also tell how to upgrade to JVU using download mode?
Thanks
SIMPLE WAY TO ROOT AND FLASH LATEST ICS
1. Flash by Odin (download Odin) Semaphore 1.2.0 kernel (as PDA, UNtick repartition, UNtick reboot).
2. Take out battery.
3. Go into recovery (vol up + home + power, release power after few secs)
4. In recovery mount internal SD (sdcard) and plug phone to PC. Delete all files from internal SD (if you don't have any important files). Copy latest CM9 and gapps to internal SD. Unmount internal SD.
5. In "mounts" menu use every (excluding internal and external SD card!!!) "format" option.
6. Go to flash ZIP menu and choose CM9 ZIP, then gapps.
7. Turn off recovery (phone).
8. Turn on phone and wait to boot.
Hope I helped.
Re:
Hi,
Problem here is that you didn't flash ClockworkMod recovery. If you only have four options it means you just have Recovery 3e - which is stock on most devices sold with GingerBread. I assume you are new to this so ClockworkMod recovery might be a little tricky to use.
I suggest you go to http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/darkyrom-v11-0-black-edition-android-4-0-4-ics.7941/ and follow the guide there.
I'm not saying that Darky has the best ROM there is but it does have a nice complete guide for flashing from stock.
Good luck

Hey.. I had flashed ClockworkMod Recovery using ROM Manager..It is also showing that my current recovery is : ClockworkMode 2.5.1.2
But you are right that when I boot into recovery mode, it shows Android System Recovery <3e> written at the top and gives only four options..
I went to the DarkyRom guide you mentioned..Here is the written guide
1-If you're coming from a Froyo (Android 2.2) or Gingerbread (2.3) ROM, follow these steps;
Have your phone rooted with CWM
Make a NANDROID backup & Titanium backup & backup anything you need or find important on a PC
Now, I don't understant what does the first step means exactly? How to go about rooting with CWM and make a NANDROID backup without ROM Manager?
Please help..Thanks
For an update..I found a guide to flash leaked version of 2.3.6 XWJW1 using Odin.. and I have been able to apply that successfully on my phone..I have rooted my phone again using Odin this time.. But now too, if I am trying to backup using ROM Manager, it is giving me the same error.. Is there a way or a guide that tells how to upgrade to cyanogenmod 9 or 7.2 using Odin..instead of doing it through the recovery mode..?
No. CM7 or CM9 you can only flash from custom recovery (CWM).
And one important thing: do NOT use ROM Manager, don't ask why
Just use my tutorial. But be aware that you have to delete anything from phone.

The semaphore you have is for ics.
Only ICS roms will do such as cm9.
CM7 is Gingerbread.
No service, Baseband unknown
The no service problem is still not gone.. I tried installing a modem but it has not helped.. I checked my phone details and found that it is showing baseband version as unknown. I have rolled back to 2.3.6 now but still it is not in service and not showing any baseband either.. Please advice what should I do!! Thanks for the help
You probably have damaged IMEI. If your IMEI in phone status starts with 000... you have damaged IMEI. Now you have to flash stock ROM by Odin with repartition (or 1st with Clear EFS option, 2nd without this option), backup EFS (Google!), use my guide again, and after that restore EFS.
After restarting phone, you'll get right IMEI and you should have network signal.
Hope I helped.
BTW, there's no explanation for damaging IMEI.
Hi there,
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 to root and install CWM recovery on my Note XXLRK.
After reboot, I had CWM 6.0.1.4.
Then I installed app I had in my old phone : rom manager. It told me to flash recovery to be able to use it, so I did it.
It flashed to version 6.0.1.2 !
I tried to flash again with root method below but recovery still to 6.0.1.2 now.
I've heard about brick risk when flashing a rom with this version.
How can I upgrade recovery back to 6.0.1.4 ?
Is it dangerous to flash a rom (cyanogen 9.1) with cwm 6.0.1.2 ?
Thanks
Seems I have no answer yet, I'm sorry I have forgotten to say it was a question !
So here new informations :
I updated with new 2.7 pack (posted by PhilZ today).
Now I have :
- CWM touch 6.0.1.4 when I start with vol up + home + power
- CWM 6.0.1.2 when i select "reboot in recovery mode" in rom manager...
This doesn't really disturb me, I just hope it will not cause problem when I'll flash to cyanogen mod 10 (I'm on stock ICS 4.0.4 right now)
If someone could confirm it will not blow up...
Thanks in advance
As far as I know, rom manager is not compatible for now, so better not use it.
Thanks for your answer.
Should I uninstall it, or can I keep it but just don't use it ?

Hey, I just joined this forum. I have been an active reader since a very long time.
I have been trying to root and flash a 4.4.2 ROM on my Galaxy Note.
I can't install the latest PhilZ recovery. It shows a status 7 error.
I tried many guides with no luck.
Every time I root my phone, it gets stuck in a boot-loop and will only reboot into recovery.
I have the Samsung official 4.1.2 ROM running. It is fully updated. The kernel is DDLSC.
Can someone guide me through upgrading my Note to any 4.4.2 ROM. I'm really annoyed with the battery drain issue with 4.1.2 Official ROM.
Try search for this using google:
XDA N7000 STATUS 7 ERROR
Running sweetrom 10.5, no drain whatsoever m8.
Flashing n7000 with Kitkat
Hi there,
I am also stuck with flashing KitKat on the N7000.
I have never done this before, but i read a lot .
I used Odin 3.9 to install PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT4-OXA-4.93.6.tar.md5.
This was the first CWM-tar that worked.
I copied omni-4.4.2-20140414-n7000-NIGHTLY and pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.2-20140412-signed.zip and (for a second try) also cm-11-20140415-NIGHTLY-n7000.zip on a 4GB SDCARD (64GB would not work at some Point)
Installation began but stopped with Status 7 and an Error somewhat like --> "contents_file_missing"
I found out that I probbaly would have to use the newest version of CWM for KITKAT. That would be 6.0.4.3 i think.
I could not use the Zip I found on the CWM Page because Odin only accepts tars.
After a lot of searching I found philz_touch_6.25.0-n7000.tar.md5.
Unfortounatly Odin stopped after "Nand Write Start" with a fail error.
I also managed to install cyngogenmod 10.1.3 and "rom manager" and also goomanager.
RomManager said i would have updated CWM bur when booting in CWM it was not updated ( still 6.0.3.1 i think) even so RomManager kept teeling me that it was the Version 6.0.4.3. Goomanager could not find a twrp Verions for the n7000.
I still can flash other older roms and i can still replace the cwm that comes with them with the one I stated above, but cannot manage to uodate CWM to the newest Version.
So how am i supposed to update CWm please help me.
Greetings Andreas

For that I require TWRP recovery. I searched for this on all websites. Some say that before flashing TWRP recovery I require TWRP kernel. I searched for the kernel but couldn't find it. Some say that before flashing the latest version, we need to flash the old version, and using that recovery we have to update TWRP to the latest version. I tried that but I failed.
