About Unlocking Bootloader

Hi. I want to flash Alfs kernel so I must first unlock the bootloader.
Just one tiny question...
I am using GingerDX v021. Do I have to revert to 2.1 to unlock bootloader?

Some people said that its ok to not go back to 2.1. But if u r not a risk taker,just go back to 2.1

Its up to you, mine got bricked while flashing a new kernel after i unlocked in gingerxperia (2.3.7)
however when i did everything again while on 2.1 it did work

tried few times unlocking the bootloader other than 2.1 and always failed..
from my own experience 2.1 has better chance of succeed.

Do I have to use stock 2.1 or it's also okay with customized 2.1?

what do u mean by customized? installing themes, launcher, etc? as long as you customize the original rom i think it will be ok.
If you're not sure it's better to download the original stock room.

Cos if it is stock,where do i get the link?

hii...i flashed alfsv5...now i want to go back to stock kernel and its not happening...
i tried seus and update service but they cant detect my phone..How do i get back to original Kernel?????

You can unlock bootloader of W8 with Flash Tool.I have unlocked BL of my W8 successfully.If not detected automatically, you have to select your device as E15i.

What is the condition now? you can select your device in PCC and attempt repair. You can get back to stock kernel and ROM.

how did you survive unlock BL using w8? my w8 got dead after succesfull unlock BL using flash tool 0.5.3.0. Now, i just wait the repairman to fix it. 7 days already
dear aji_s, what date is your w8 model? mine is 11w10. yours ?

I was using miniCM7.0.6, had sony certificate for simlock and I unlocked the bootloader yesterday, with success.

You can do all the stuffs which you cant do on unroot.like mods(call recording,power and volume key press click photo) can change user interface.increase speed of your processor.increase your ram.and much more.root means that your phone is in totally in your hand.

You can remove the unnecessary bloatware by which your ram usage decreases, you can flash custom roms of your choice, particularly in our note we have a bug(emmc), you can get rid of it by flashing custom kernals which are safe, you can overclock or underclock your processor, you can avoid all kinds of adds by installing an app like adfree
I installed beats audio drivers which is possible only because of root
Now i have transparent accuweather widget
U can use custom boot animations.

Since you are new, I would suggest you to read this (credit goes to dr. Ketan).
Read carefully dr. Ketan thread (the link I gave you), once you are understand and confident, then you can proceed.
He mentioned everything there... All the methods of rooting, and all the files needed for rooting.

and If you are on the latest ICS, you may flash Philz Kernel direct from stock recovery.
You will get root with SuperSU installed + CWM Recovery v6 direct + don't forget it's a safe kernel to do wipe data (eMMC brick bug removed).
Philz Kernel is a modded stock ROM with those 3 benefits, all credits go to him for his great work.
The easiest way to root your device.
BUT....
Find the suitable firmware you are on now at your device. Don't flash the wrong kernel.

Go to settings/ about phone/ build no. Last 3 letters is what u need to look at. Flash corresponding Philz kernel in zip format. Reboot into new recovery and u will see it is different(awesome actually). U are done

Need Help Bootlooping

Hey guys, so I was easily able to unlock the bootloader. However, the problems began when I flashed recovery. After that I have been getting only bootloops. Thus, I did a factory reset, which fixes it, however, once I restart or turn the phone off the bootloops start again. Which means I am constantly factory resetting my phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you downloaded the tool kit from development thread it's on there think it says relock bootloader

Out of curiosity, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of me unlocking the bootloader to begin with. Or am I thinking of it incorrectly?

I am able to get into recovery without it. But I can't get the app becasue i cant get into the app store.

thanks for all your help!! I think i may have got it. I reflashed recovery then rebooted the bootloader, then booted into recovery through the bootloader, then wiped everything. It seems to boot now and I am able to restart and shut down without a problem. Hopefully it sticks. Thanks again for taking the time I really appreciate it.

How to unlock pattern in Galaxy S Advance

How to unlock my pattern which i've forgotten and my gmail also forgotten, any tricks to unlock it? i don't care even if my data reset or deleted.

If your device is rooted and CWM is there (it means thet you have CoCore kernel), you can copy that file onto SD card using a computer, and flash it.
If not, the only way is to flash an official FW with Odin. Good luck!

You forgot pattern, forgot gmail password too. And you don't even care about the data being deleted.

[Q] Forgot password

Hey,
I think this has been asked before but i will just do it once again to confirm because the problem isn't at my own phone.
The problem is the following:
My cousin has a Samsung galaxy mini 2 and she turned on her password screen lock ( a word as password instead of numbers
but she forgot her password
Because I won't lose any data or photo's and that kind of stuff so i started looking for a way to fix this problem.
What i found was, but it is only usable on ICS and GB is to fill in a wrong password as much as possible till it says:
try again within 30 sec because than you will get the option forgot pin/password
It was possible to get this option but I had to flash GB or ICS with odin --> will I still have all may data by choosing this option?
Is there any other option to get my data, photo's etc. safe or is it just flashing a rom and say bye to all your data?

That's not too kind...
BTW if you wipe from stock recovery, you will lose only settings, contacts, apps. If she has a google account (I guess she has as she has android), then log in and sync. It will restore everything except for settings.

There is a method using adb, no data loss i tried it myself. But the one i tried was on pattern instead of password. So i would recommend you to search for adb method for password. There is a change of little command. I will tell in detail with link tomorrow.

So heres the process
First install : http://d-h.st/rCh
**credits to @prantoroy**
.Now make sure ur pc has adb drivers installed for ur phone
.connect phone to pc in usb debugging
.open the tool app on ur pc
.click 1 to verify ur device is properly connected
.click 2 if u hav pin or pass lock or 3 for pattern lock
