Quick question - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So. I'm not terribly new to the android Dev world. After a short hiatus with the lumia 1020, I'm back. Traded said lumia for a supposed Google edition HTC one. Couple of issues.
First the box he gave it to me is an att 32gb HTC one package. The imei on the box does not match the one in the phone. The phone itself works fine and indeed is running a 4.3 unrooted vanilla ROM. I used an imei lookup website and both of the imeis link back to sense vs HTC ones. Note for the question.
Is there any way to verify that this is indeed the Google play edition and he just gave me a different box?
As a side note, if it is indeed a Google play edition, which Dev forum should I be in?
I've attached a screenshot of the about section showing kernel version.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe a complete GPe convention would be exactly the same as the original.
They have identical hardware and it's possible to change the MID and CID to GPe.
Is the phone S-off?

Not sure to be honest. How do I get into the boot loader on this phone?

Yes it is soff.
Cid is googl001 I think that's correct.

You can never be sure if it is truly a Google play edition phone. They literally are the same exact phone with different software on them. As long as it works, I think you're good.
There is no separate section of XDA for that phone because any rom will work on either phone.

Only true way was if you were able to list the supported frequencies.
The GPe is idectical to the the AT&T model except it supports a couple more international bands. That's something a conversion process will not alter.
But as far as I know there isn't a way to find out.
Like others have said both models are 99% identical you wouldnt notice the difference. All GSM roms work with all GSM models. If the phone is in good physical condition and everything works and you didn't get the dev edition for it's particular international support then you shouldn't have any issues.

OK. Thanks for the responses. So the att forums T-Mobile forums and the basic HTC one forums are all pretty much safe. Is the rooting process the same? Either way time to delve into the information provided here on xda. Thanks again.

Yes to your questions. All GSM models are identical except their respective carrier support. Rooting is the same, but with rooting methods on all android devices new updates might prevent rooting/S-Off. The individual forums are more so things are more or less organized.

I'd say since its s-off, 90% its a converted, but as others have said, no way to be sure.
The only difference in the rooting process is if your bootloader isnt already unlocked, you don't have to use HTCDev. You can just use "fastboot oem unlock".
And since you luckily stumbled on a phone with s-off I would read up on it, and its advantages and disadvantages.

After this it is indeed unlocked and appears to be a converted HTC one. Which is fine with me. However the imei numbers being mismatched between the box and my phone has me a bit worried. Is it something I should worry about?

It may be that he just gave you a different box.
Or it may be that whatever conversion process was used took a little too much from the phone that donated the system dump. I don't know how you'd check.

Last question. I have stock android unrooted 4.3 on the phone now. Stock recovery. Bootloader is black instead of white and cid is Google cid. Soff and unlocked. Can I just fastboot flash twrp recovery and pick and choose ROMs for gsm model and start flashing? And if that is correct can I flash both sense ROMs and aosp? Thanks again for the help.

Any chance you guys get the Telstra (AUS) firmware or run us Aussies through how to extract one from our devices?
Note we're BL unlockable if that helps.
How can we use this firmware on a retail version, knowing that BL is locked?
Any instructions/description will be greatly appreciated
Thx

you use this in conjunction with RSD Lite. put the razr m in fastboot mode, run rsd lite, browse for this, and extract & flash it. itll take a bit, but bring you back to fully stock 4.1.1

What's the benefit of this ROM? Is it an update to the jelly bean already out there?

Benifit is that we can look into the file now instead of OTA or Blind Flashing.
Also if you screw up u can Fast boot flash this Firmware with RDSLite.
Now my question is does any one have the JB AUSSIE Radio 4.1.1 ?
Or will the AUSSIE 4.0.x Radio work in here ?
Aussie radio from ICS works fine with this so far.. will test tomorrow in lte coverage area too.

Still curious if we can get a Australia fast boot. I think theirs maybe less bloated ?
Again thanks for the fast boot files

There's a tonne of Verizon bloat in these fastboot images that's for sure.. however, much of it is easily removed

Did a factory wipe, and flashed just boot and system on my Aussie RAZR M.
Everything works except LTE. When it kicks over to LTE it can see the network and connect to it, but the data connection doesn't establish (ie the 4G symbol does not appear and data connectivity doesn't work, despite strong signal in a 4G area).
Any ideas on what may need to be tweaked to get LTE data to work? Data works fine on UMTS.

In the process of trying to get LTE going, I managed to fry it, so I'm going to have to do a re-install this afternoon. Only shame of it is, I don't live in an LTE coverage area, so I can't test.
So for me, it's a question of do I want smooth jellybean goodness with (at most) DC-HSPA, or do I want ICS with LTE ... grunt, why can't I have both!?

Having said that it's LTE, I've followed these instructions:

Apparently this should get LTE working outside the US ... will give it a try when a chance avails.

Simple. For people who have modded their ICS firmware, the OTA won't apply unless they revert to stock first. At least with this, they can flash jellybean, then mod their rom again.
Plus it's also nice to have something to reimage your phone with if you screw it up

Are anybody can upload camera and gallery and all additional files from JB?

''Tampered'' Bootloader

After unlocking the bootloader with htc dev's services on the HTC One, the bootloader says tampered.
I have read that there is a way to get rid of that message and relock the bootloader.
Will they be able to see it has been unlocked before and void the warranty for any hardware errors?
Yes it will say relocked instead of locked. So youre warranty is void now

Unrooting the phone and installing stock recovery removes the tampered banner. You can relock the bootloader, but until we get s-off it will always say "relocked" instead of "locked" generally if it's not processor or gpu related your warranty will be fine.
You were warned on HTCDev twice and twice on your device that the warranty MAY be void.
The word MAY is usually due to cpu/gpu since unlocking means you can install custom kernels to overclock the hardware thus reducing its' life expectancy.

Thanks for reply, but having s-off is just a matter of time i guess, or are there devices on which s-off wasn't achieved?
Can I ask you, what you would do if for some reason your hardware fails and you're not sure whether your warranty is still active?
ps,I don't regret unlocking it , I just hope manufacturers and providers set the rules straight about the warranty after root\unlock

Sprint has finally figured out how to unlock your sim. I did it yesterday! You have to get sprint to push an update through the international dept and then you insert your new sim card and then the simlock enabled message will appear. You then go to system updates and tap the uicc unlock button. You will need to make sure you are connected to wifi when you tap that button and the simlock enabled message is there. It will prompt for a reboot when it finishes and then you just set your phone do gsm and the simlock enabled message will not be there after the reboot.

I am not sure since I only have an international sim card. From what I understand, even if it did work on Tmo or ATT, it wouldn't have the greatest data rates since the sprint htc one doesn't have all of the correct frequencies in its radio.
it would get t mobile 3g here on 1900 but thats still rolling out. And i think t mobile uses 1900 for LTE so who knows..we use that for LTE too.

Is this the correct forum for the GPE HTC One?

Hi guys,
I just ordered an HTC One GPE today, and plan to unlock it and root it when I get it. Is this the correct forum for the GPE? I'm sort of confused on where to go for ROMs, recoveries, and the like. How to Unroot ATT Moto X?

Just rooted my ATT moto x using jcase's method (which was ridiculously easy). Now I'm curious how to unroot in case I get prompted with an OTA in the coming days.

Flash stock firmware and recovery with either Rsdlite or fastboot. If you use fastboot you can preserve data.
The firmware is in the Dev section

As noted if you want to preserve data, just flash the recovery.img and the system.img from the stock firmware via fastboot and you'll be all set. I did it and works just fine. Be sure to use the firmware file for ATT.

Fastboot will work unless you're trying to downgrade. It will work with a locked bootloader because these are signed official images. All I can say is, make sure you have downloaded the correct file for your phone. If you're on Verizon, system flash won't work because the file size is too big. Just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img then reboot the phone and do a factory reset. This should take you back to stock.

thats what i was trying to do, the issue im having is when in fastboot and connected to the computer terminal no longer recognizes the device. even with ./adb devices or ./fastboot devices. I can't send any commands to the device using fastboot for some reason.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with Mac enough to help. I'm sure someone can help you out though. I don't know if Mac and Linux are the same, but when I flash using fastboot on my Ubuntu machine, I have to do sudo fastboot flash or it won't work.

rsd lite 6.1.4 is the only one that worked for me
Hey guys-
My questions is somewhat related to the OP, maybe not so much but I did not want to start a new thread.
Anyways...I got the Developer Version, how do I go about unlocking the bootloader, is there some moto site to do this like htcdev site?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I am reading on some articles that it does already have an unlocked bootloader but I don't think that is the case on my device
