Hi
I have T-Mobile Galaxy Tab. Is there any way to make it support Arabic language?
THANX....
Yes just flash the middle eastern rom. either the jpjm4 or the jpjm5.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I'm also looking for Arabic support. Mine is Galaxy Tab with stock rom
PDA : P1000ZHJK1
PHONE : P1000ZHJJ1
CSC : P1000ZZHJJ3
Is it ok if I flash an older ROM like P1000OJPJJ1 ? I heard that the newer rom has protected bootloader.
Thanks.
But then you can use the chainfire program to remove the bootloader files.
Use this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933028&highlight=jpjm4
It’s fast and has no bootloader issues. The jpjm5 doesn't seem to have anything better really. Like you I am cautious about upgrading. I bought my tab in November and I used to change my rom like every dew days to try different things but since I installed the jpjm4 from @galaxer, I didn't change it because it’s super fast and everything works perfectly in it. Also have great Arabic fonts. I also flashed this kernel with it:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924654
It works great and extends my battery life to at least 2 days, but this is optional you don't need to do this.
Another option you have is to flash the beta CM7 gingerbread (Android 2.3), it supports Arabic, but it has tons of issues because its beta. I don't recommend it to be your main working rom, you can flash it to play with and check it out.
I hope this helps
That is a freakin' awesome post!
Thank you very much I will try to flash the JPJM4 today.

I am on the same ROM AND Kernel the only thing i dont like about this ROM (And it is not an issue, really!) but i just dont like the few white lines that flashes when you boot your TAB. And regarding the kernel it doesn't enhance your battery performance unless you under-clock your CPU and you dont need that kernel just to do that, you can always get SetCPU and underclock. This kernel is for over clocking to 1.4Ghz and it does eat-up your battery EVEN though using SetCPU i have set the maximum to 1.4Ghz and minimum to 600Mhz
Just to let you know
Thanks every body
I install the rom mention above but i got two problmes
1- no market app in it. "easy i will find one"
2- i cant receive file through Bluetooth ??!! " I want solution for it if any one can?"
Yesterday i found Orange Rom which support Arabic but i couldn't change the arabic font ?!?!
My bluetooth and market arw working fine anare you sure you flashed everything correctly?
Regarding these lines in the begenning, I saw them in many other kernels before, they used to bather me too, but I dont care anymore . It lasts for like half a second and goes away. Also, this kernel allows you to change the battery voltage which is not an option with any kernel.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
After you flash the middle eastern rom flash the overcome kernal (2.01) and the ugly lines will go away and you will have your language.
Thanks Rangercabtain I wiped to factory rest then I flash overcome kernal (2.01)
now every thing OK

I have galaxy s since last one year and i love it... However my phone has become very slow these days.. I tried several roms and kernels.. Formatted both internal and external SD cards... But still it is very slow... I remember that I dropped it 3-4 times... Is it because of it?
Can someone suggest me please... What should I do...

Maybe over clock it ...? I thought the new ROMs would have helped. It could be the fact that your phone is older now and some internal hardware has been worn out
Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
CM9 Nightly Kang (Build 5 of 2.1)
Eugene's Kernel (Speedy-7)

Can I do anything related to the hardware? I mean how can i check if it is not giving 100%?

I'm no expert so I'm not sure. Best bet would be to replace the hardware which Costs a ton of money. Its better to just a get a new phone. Either that or maybe mess around with new ROMs some more. Maybe you are wiping your phone incorrectly or maybe you use it too much

my suggest...
1. update your firmware to last version (2.3.6).
2. try to change kernel and custom rom.
3. maybe, with some different kernel and custom rom, you can choice the better option for your device. for example, try using kernel semaphore (gingerbread) and custom rom F1 or other.
I would be very surprised if physical trauma has simply caused a slow-down in speed. It would more likely show itself as random reboots and other more obvious symptoms.
Much like Windows, after a lot of use, it slows down - you have said that you've flashed other roms, maybe you just haven't come across a good one; there are after all a lot of different ones...
I would suggest the deodex-ed / rooted stock rom from RAMAD Gingerbread JVT. As I remember it was always quite stable and fast.
The hardware components inside a modern phone will not wear-out after a year - they are not moving parts! - when ram or a processor wears out it usually results in total system crashing not just a slow down.
Thank you all for your feedbacks and suggestions. I use my phone a lot. Usually i use TV out a lot as i do not have a cable connection in my hostel room. I use my phone a lot. I flashed it atleast more than 100 times. I have not seen any reboots, crashed , soft reboots etc very often. When i use MIUI rom my phone is very fast indeed however , it does not have a TV Out and therefore i have to use a stock based rom.. i will try Rammad's GB Rom as per your suggestion and will report back. As i told you that i dropped it a couple of times, is it possible that any of the Internal components have become loose?
Have you ever tried Advanced task killer? Or even killed tasks?

Try ICSSGS RC 4.2. I had the same situation as you. It was fine for one year and I was using Darky rom by that time. Suddenly I started feeling that my phone is too slow. Lot of stuck. Sometimes I had to remove battery just to restart.
Now running above ICS rom with Devil 14.2 Kernel its rocking ...
yeah I'd suggest u the advanced taskkiller too
in options you can set the auto killlevel to safe, so that it kills smth like games in the background but not important apps
since then my phone is quite fast even with stockrom

Yeah, and you can just use the ATK widget when you close out of something press the icon and it kills all the background apps...
I will surely try ATK and ICS roms as per your suggestions...

keep us updated...
Just get stock jw1, flash with reparation to wipe everything, then do a factory reset via secret dial code. Now install semaphore 2.5.0 kernel. Dl superuser to get root. Now install thunderbolt tweaks the main package and the 60lmk other addon(read thread how to) . This is the best setup i can think of in terms of speed bat life and functionality. Next step look in pikachus Android optimization thread and remove the bloatware listed there, basically remove as much bloat as possible. Enjoy ur fast phone.

Perhaps you should try the ICSSGS RC4.2 with Devil 14.2 LED VC Kernel. I'm on it and its awesome, my phone lags no more and I'm using it for my primary phone.

Hi guys
A friend of mine has a problem: his Galaxy keeps restarting randomly for no reason, many times in a day while using it.
What is weird: the phone hasn't ever been rooted/flashed with a custom rom, neither updated, always been 100% original. Just a normal usage!
I'm not much into this phone, so i don't know if it's a known issue or what.. but it sounds strange to me, possible hardware problem? Needs to be flashed or rooted? Other?
I've already done a factory reset and now i took off the sd-card to see if it could be it, but i'd appreciate some advices!
Thanks
Try updating it with kies, might help but can't guarantee
if random reboots happens while using too much mobile resources then its normal for galaxy mini like phone
Random Reboots might be device specific or not , It depends.
But you may want to visit the samsung care center in your vicinity area just to be sure about the latter .
Else just flash a new stock Rom via ODIN (not that it would leave your device impure as rooting does ).

Is Froyo the last "official" release or was a Gingerbread leaked/official firmware released? I'll probably try flashing something, don't know yet if a custom rom could solve the problem but still it's a possibility

With mobile resources you mean 3G/wifi or RAM? By the way in both the cases i don't think it's the problem, since there aren't many apps in background and the only one using internet connection is whatsapp!

The last official android update for for sgm was gingerbread based api.
Try flashing the stock gingerbread on the device via odin (google it if you don't know how to.) and then try custom roms.
Also the thing about resources, you already know about our sgm aka lil'g . Its not that powerful as most quad core latest devices boosted by plenty much RAM. So multitask on it wisely.

I'll try with gingerbread when i see my friend, thanks! I own a i9000 and flashed pretty much so i know odin and similar stuff, no problem
And yes i tried the mini many times, doesn't have a bunch of ram but still i think it can't be a ram-lack problem since it did the same also after the factory reset, with few apps installed!
Thanks again for the help :good:
Oh, was forgetting: how does the cyano run on the mini? Smooth? Battery killer or ok for everyday use?
Try cm7 by mebitek. Despite its source code is old and official cm7 is way more ahead of it, the mebitek's cm7 relays on battery & performance like a pro..
by resources I mean more ram and CPU usage
background apps ( they don't play big role as they get closed automatically)
running big games (HD one)
etc.
if you have many apps, cut the .android_secure folder and paste it on your computer.. i had this problem with the stock GB 2.3.6.. reboots reboots and reboots!! i pasted the folder in my comp, delete unnecessarily used apps and VOILA! it was running smooth again.. but now i'm using cm7..
I updated to official gingerbread release, then after putting all the (few) apps into phone storage i removed every android-secure file!
I'll see how it goes with this, if the problem remains i'll try a cyano or go directly to the service center
Thanks again for the tips!
Hi guys!I read this forum for a very long time but I really, really can't find exactly what I need.
So I got my first Android phone and it's Samsung Galaxy S-i9000.Now I really know more about android phones and RAM and CPU for Android phones. However, now I think the better choise is Galaxy S 2 because of 1 GB RAM,it's faster and it has flash for camera(But I don't really need flash ).
The problem is RAM and I really like games like Subway Surfers,Temple Run,Ski Challenge,Real Racing.
I own Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 2 months and when i bought phone, firmware was Gingerbread 2.3.3.It was smooth and fast, but I had a battery drain problem. After charging and playing games,Android OS was draining my battery,so I had to reboot my phone after every charging and playing game.I searched a solution and i found that draining battery is bug of firmware 2.3.3.So I updated it via Kies to 2.3.4 XXJVQ and draining was still there but less than with 2.3.3.I didn't know what to do,so I searched forums and found that I should update to original Gingerbread 2.3.6 JVU.I bricked my phone, because Odin stuck at setup connection. There was just image of phone-!-computer when I booted.I was able to go to download mode and I immediately took my phone to repair service.Repairman installed to me 2.3.6 JVU and it is bit slower, slower for some games.I am sad.I don't know what to do.It is only 320 MB available.
-What should I do?
-I think I should take my phone to repairman and say him to install new firmware but I don't know which firmware. Can you tell me please?I want fast firmware without bugs and battery drain and I really want to play games like Subway Surfers and Temple run without lags like I used to play wit Gingerbread 2.3.3 and 2.3.4.
-Is there simple solution to change firmware?
-Why did I bricked phone last time when I tryed to update it.Is it because I maybe don't have USB 2.0 port.
Please reply.
P.S. I don't really like Custom ROMS because I think they are slow and unsafe.
Sorry for bad English

You should better use USB 2.0 to update the firmware, Samsung USB driver must be installed and Kies process killed by the Task Manager (it loves to work in the background and can block flashing via Odin)
BTW, if you have used incompatible Odin version for your i9000 that also could be a reason for soft brick.
I fail to understand your point, as custom ROMs are actually faster and less laggy (especially when BigMem enabled: 407MB of RAM)
But for gaming is probably recent GB firmware a better choice. So all after JVT are fine, maybe JW7 would be best for you, it was released for Portugal and you can download it from sammobile.com
If not sure about something, check my i9000 guide

I am sure that I closed all Kies proccesses, and I used Odin 1.85 which is compatible with my phone,so I think the problem is USB port. That computer was old.Do you think it is because of old computer?

I don't understand why wouldn't you root the phone....
Root would give you so much more options. Stock ROMs are full of bloatware that slowes the phone incredibly down.
With root access to your firmware you could uninstall all useless Samsung apps and it would boost the speed of your i9000.
Flashing a Semaphore_2.5.0bm.tar kernel would grant you full root access, CWM recovery and you could enable 409MB of memory on your phone, what isn't imaginable now (on costs of 720p video playback that wouldn't be possible anymore)

OK, I understand.
So, the latest one is JW9, not many people know it as it came very late and only for very few countries. But I remember people were saying it was awsome. Try Portugal one and if CSC works in your country stick with it (screenshot attached)
If no, this one will ceirtanly work (as it has multi-CSC) is this JW4 release:
Code:
United Kingdom / Ireland: 2012 April GB 2.3.6 I9000XXJW4 csc: I9000OXAJW5
I know that one, quite smooth, not very fast (compared to JB or KK roms) but stable and with excellent battery life. Best you can do is to download both, check that the zips aren't corrupted (download error) and give them both into your service and tell the guys to try first if JW9 works in your country. It should, actually.
Good luck and let know later if you like them

Have you tried it yet?Tell me is it fast for games. That's most importan to me.
Also, people say it has 364 MB avaiable,BUT i'm little suspicious. Some peole say that 200-220 MB RAM is already unavailable when you turn on your phone. Is that true?I'm sorry if I'm boring but I really want to know all these answers before I took my phone to service.

Yes, it is all together 364 available as part of 500MB is fixed (reserved) for some system functions.... actually, with only 500MB capacity, the RAM of the i9000 is already around 60% full / used before you start any app or game.
Go for JW9, it is amazing! It is obviously better, faster and smoother than the JW4.
It will be no problem about signal I think, basebands in Europa are so similar.
I just showed it my wife and she wants that I install it for her instead of the CM11...... she prefers GB's layout and design..... Oh, yes: it just flies with SpeedMod kernel k-17-3.... but it is also very fast with its stock kernel

I changed my mind. Then,I will probably tell them to install JW9.I don't care does it include my language, but I just need english language. Is english avaiable in JW9.After 1-2 days using tell me,please,is that good firmware.I just wanna know some basics:
-Is battery good? (I gotta admit that battery on 2.3.6 JVU (now on my phone) is very good,no Android OS bugs, but performance is bad)
-How much RAM is avaiable and how much is unaviable when you turn on phone?
-Is Temple Run lag?
-Is that Value Pack? (I hate to lose RAM on that kind of firmware,I don't even like new features,I really don't care )
If I finally make my phone stable and fast, you're the best!

LOL, it is not about language pack, but Baseband / Radio- frequences for mobile networks that can vary in different regions of the world
Comparation: I know JVU well from before, IMHO, the JW9 is better in all terms. Faster, smoother, great.
It also looks much nicer, I've attached you few screenshots, I only couldn't make it fast enough to open the drawer before screen was printed (releasing of back+home button makes a shot, but also exits from laucher drawer)... it is my cat as wallpaper
My wife has liked so much the JW9 that she asked me to de-install her CM11 and flash JW9 on her i9000 today!
By no apps running, I had 42% RAM free, what is very good for the i9000
But you will also need some day root access, if nothing else just to uninstall Samsung's bloat apps that you'll never need and they slow your phone down. With root apps, one can hibernate many processes and

Don't worry about baseband. It will work with your country's network. The guys in service will take care of it.
I will check later about RAM, but it will probably be about the same like with JVU.
I know you need more memory, that is why I suggested you to flash a custom kernel, Semaphore enables up to 384,5 MB on stock GB roms and up to 409 MB with KK roms.

Hi,
I've checked the firmware for Portugal from sammobile.com and it is totally bloated with stuff for some portugese provider.
Here you have a clean- non-branded XWJW9 firmware for your i9000, best Gingerbread I ever tried:
I9000XWJW9_I9000OXAJW4_I9000XWJW1 download link
It has open Europe-CSC so it will ceirtanly work also in your country. If your language keyboard is missing, just install free app MultiLingual Keyboard
So, good luck and lots of fun- happy New Year with your new i9000

Thanks! Happy New Year!
Can I flash either the Portugese or German XWJW9 firmware on my SGS? The one I'm currently on right now is the XXJW4 UK/IRELAND with multi-csc. Wifi signal is weak but when the phone is right beside the router, the wifi signal fluctuates.
I'm in the Philippines by the way. I'm a bit worried that the baseband and CSC for the XWJW9 won't work in my country.
Thanks.

Yes, JW9 will work. If the baseband isn't working, you can replace the modem later with any root file browser. Sometimes changing the region in the Wi-Fi settings can really help. You should try. Maybe no need for JW9.

I told you what you can do in first. You can use newest CoCore kernel, put PegasusQ as governor, SIO as scheduler (with No Frill CPU app from Play Store) and debloat it (remove Samsung crapware). And that is it. Or go back to GB. Next solution is better phone sadly...
P.S. You have option in developers option to put max apps in background - do not put it to 3, put to standard limit.
Settings> Developers options> Limit background proccess.
I don't have bugs in gps with pa
