[Q] dark theme z1, possible? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Love the phone but i miss dark theme, dont want the white. Possible to change without root and flashing custom rom?

+1 really want the dark theme on contacts, messages and on others
Plus I want bigger contact pictures to show when you click to call someone or when someone is calling you, on the Z there is mod which makes the contact pictures bigger for all incoming and outgoing calls and also in the contacts app... wish we can get this soon for the Z1 one

Agree My z1 is Black want a Dark theme to make more cool look

Not possible, unless sony added this feature in their stock roms... this would require changing\Modifying a lot of system apps...

changes in 4.3 and 4.4 to come

Hi guys, like all of you guys i just recently got the 4.3 MJA onto my device. The first thing i noticed was the 4g LTE signal was different, the next thing was that they added the equalizer thing on your volume control when listening to music. The font was also slightly different, other than that. not much else changed. the biggest thing for me is that i can now use full features on my galaxy gear.
Tell me what you guys think samsung should do with the 4.4 kitkat update? i want to hear your thoughts. Me personally i want to see a theme change for once instead of the green battery icon etc, also i'd like to see a new touchwiz version. kinda like aosp. Lastly maybe a theme change in the notification bar. i like how it's set up but it'll be really bad ass if they added some more cool features.

they have a wide audience, and mostly likely radical change is not gonna work for a portion of that audience, so I highly doubt you will see that happen on this phone. a possibility with the next, but definitly not until a future phone comes out with it first.
Not really a 4.4 thing but wish Samsung had optional TW themes while keeping their TW features. AOSP, seasonal, sports, tech, etc... TW based themes would be refreshing.

Samsung updated Google Maps.
Used Titanium Backup to go back to 6.x.

That would be fantastic! At the very least Samsung and Google should put in a theme engine like wanam where you can change the colors of the notification icons, area and pull down panel.

That would be so sick.... I would almost consider not rooting.... but I still deff would
First thing they should do is get rid of the ugly gingerbread green in the status bar. They never adopted holo blue so at least adopt the kitkat gray.
I still have yet to receive my 4.3 update

Either clear data on Google services apk or just manually update to 4.3.

[Req] more xperia themes

Hello XDA..
Why does no one started to make more xperia themes? I have been visited Department of Z1 (themes & apps) there is a lot of xperia themes designs Until I started to crying
We need a lot of xperia Z themes like Z1. I really love the nexus 5 theme for Z1
Sent from my C6602 using Tapatalk
It should be compatible with Z I guess. Did you try?
Those themes should work on XZ (4.3).
There are few guys who already confirmed that
Sent from my Z1
I looking into it, but not much time on hands. You need to in decompile 4 apks, because (as far as I know) there is no official tool.

Yeah....
When you decompile theme you'll find few zip files.
One is for system, one for systemUI...etc
What's important is to decompile all and edit 9.png properly.
If you treat those png like any other picture you'll not get anything.
I don't have time to build something or to try to build something.
So I can only help with a things I know.
I wrote quick tutorial and I hope that could be a start for all who are interested.
This weekend I'll start to work on one of my themes and I hope it'll be out soon.

Mate, cloud you share those navigation bar icons?
I know they are from Xposed modules but if you have them already extracted I would be grateful

I've dealt with 9.pngs before. (sony keyboard mods) No problem. Just the recompile side of things I'm a bit unsure of. Also would be good to change package name so as to be able to install alongside the others.

In the first step I believe it's O.K to use some of the themes as a base to test all.
But it's very important to tell guys to delete original theme first.

Depends what you want to go for. Looking good so far. Nice minimalist approach. The navkeys look a little stretched, but that's up to you, and something you can deal with later. You gonna change the toggles?
I haven't even started yet. Gotta wait until my kids go back to school, then I might have some time.
Might be pestering for help recompiling.

[Q] Request 4.42 stock stripped

Can anyone suggest or help me to make a rom based on stock kit kat firmware for locked bootloaders. A plain one without any apk that can be downloded. NO SONY APPS oh and with a plain google lockscreen with working wallpaper in settings. just a basic camera, and without any xposed mod etc. would be perfect if it was totally black also in settings. I have all this on my xperia t, but not on z yet. Dont care about z2 ports etc, just a basic rom ie 400 mb or so. any input greatly appreciated.

You mean you want a special rom made for you?
Maybe its bit hard thing to make a ROM but you can talk to some developers like @Rajeev and tell him what you want
Yes basically a rom with only the bare minimum of apps and features to make the phone work, built for speed. Everything else can always be added later. I will ask Rajeev but I think he is busy with 2 roms.
To make the settings completely black is it just a case of decompiling the framework res apk and changing most to holo dark? Or is there more to it.

Just wait for my Ultimate BlackXZ v1 tomorrow.. Then download it. After that remove all stuffs that u don't like.. U know u can make a rom for Z with only 367 mb Size..
Making a Black Themed apk is not just changing colors xml.. U should spend some hours.. There are pngs. U need to theme it to White from Black. U need to look in Layout Folder. Lot of works..
Hey thanks Rajeev, I will wait and try your rom but alot of devs call their roms black when they are grey, the one I have on my XT is my pals darklord and it is truly black, this is what I would like to have. I would also like to learn how to go about this :-B

Agreed, but material design is a bit overrated to me. The colors almost look to cartoon-like and I feel like a simple theme could have been applied to kitkat to give us the same look.
Anyway, that's the great thing about Android. If you don't like it, you can always change it.

Dark theme stock dialer app

Hello everyone,is there no way to get a dark theme for the stock dialer app on a non-rooted XZ2? Sony have given us the option in the stock messenger app,so why not in the dialer app as well? For that matter, why dont they just make the option available for a dark settings menu also. Really Sony, time to get with it.
Does anyone know of any way at all to get a dark themed stock dialer working on an XZ2 that is not rooted? I-m hoping for a miracle i know.

Why must i wai for Android Q? Do you think our devices will even be updated @MartinX3? The way Sony has been launching a new flagship every 6 months,i would be very surprised that we get Android Q. Also, what makes you think the Dialer or even the settings menu will have a dark theme support as stock?

It does? But do you really think Sony wont remove it and stick with their boring, tried and tested stock white only theme? Just look at what happened with the design of the phones. They released a gorgeous new shape in the XZ2 and then streamlined it on the XZ3,only to go back to the same boring rectangular shape on the upcoming Xperia 1 etc. Yes,they finally changed to a multiple camera set-up and much smaller bezels with a longer screen, but the overall shape of the phones is the same boring old design. They lack any sort of individualism or creativity at Sony HQ at the moment.
