i guess you just have to root your device and use set cpu or no frills like apps (you can get them from playstore)

You should probably check in the Alliance Thread if it's supported and works ok, but I remember from my GB days that Abyss 4.2 (Redpill Touch) was about the best kernel you could flash for our Note...
Also when you say "overclock to 400 MHz"...I suppose that you're talking about the minimum frequency. You can overclock your minimum frequency with mostly any kernel that has root.
I use AnTuTu CPU Master from the Play Store. It's free and really easy and intuitive to use.

The only one I know of that allows GPU over clocking and voltage control is Thor kernel. Not found on xda as the creator is persona non grata. Google it.
I use the app Voltage Control to specify frequency and voltage settings, very useful. Give it a try.

He is saying GPU not CPU thus the 400Mhz.
I use Tegrak to oc the GPU with Franco kernel.

Yeah use tegrak overclock but m using Abyss kernel nd my phone is buttery smooth
thanks shaolin95 but i don't find franco kernel for gingerbread, the only i found is for ics, can you give me a link please
edit: i've installed abyss kernel + bought tegrak kernel ultimate and it works ! thanks for your answer
i wanted to ask does overclocking the gpu help alot in games like more 10 fps ? and does it shorter the gpu's life ?
thanks alot

Overclock Kernel for XXLSZ

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a kernel to overclock my n7000 with XXLSZ JB.
Is there one available at the moment?Which one do you think is the best for this?
I tryed to download Hydracore but the link in the original thread is expired.
Thanks in advance!

Will it overclock without an OC kernel?
yes it works on Philz kernel
i tried tegrak and my note restart after few quadrant test in a row at 1.6 gzh oc in free version with stock mv value

its called instability.
some CPU cant handle that high frequency..
Recognized Distributorâ„¢
mine is on 1.6 OC and never had this issue. i have not changed the voltages though..

There are 3 groups of chips, some are better some worse some average for oc. Search old treads about hydracore.

[Q] Can't change CPU freqvency?!

I'm on stock XXAMG4 rooted rom. Root works but I can't change CPU freq. I tried SETCpu and NoFrills but neither works. Only thing I can change is governor. I don't want to overclock my device, I want to set min. 400 mhz and max. 800 mhz but when I select those freqvency nothing happens.
Any tip?

use a kernel that allows you to set a frequency
I would never think of that...

i had xperia pro(its nearly broken) i just want to compare the results to see if they are similar because they are both old phones and i need the qwerty keyboard...and some basic multitasking without lags, it would be helpful if you can give me a screen shot of anutu benchmark of your phone or droid 4, numbers always help to decide when you compare 2 phones.

John
Antutu v5.2.0 on my Droid 4 with Slimkat 8.8 and Lucize jbx kernel scores 16504 @ 1300mhz CPU / 384mhz GPU, and with the CPU fully overclocked to 1404mhz it scored 17112
1200mhz is stock on the CPU and 307mhz on the GPU.

did you compile it by your self? because i am not able to change the gpu/cpu values with root explorer/terminal
*i flashed lucize wip kernel
if its a custom build by you with oc,can you share it plz? thanks !

It has to be the "JBX" kernel, lucize has decided to remove this file from his post for some reason, I've attached it to this post. It's based off dtrail's JBX kernel for the motorola RAZR, you can flash that kernel to the device too but I found the radio signal level would read wrong, so I have always used this one.

seems okay it has overclocked gpu and uv/oc-+ cpu plus governors :good:
i will see the battery now

Hi!
Is it possible to use "JBX" kernel with stock ROM? Or maybe only module that allowing GPU overclocking?

You need to be rooted and have a recovery installed like TWRP / safestrap, you install that kernel zip just as you install a third party ROM through recovery. If you just want GPU overclock don't bother, the increase from 307 to 384mhz only increases GPU performance by maybe 5%, it's purposely set to 307mhz stock because the GPU is bottlenecked elsewhere (ie: memory bandwidth), 384mhz increases battery drain and heat without much performance gain.

How much you can overclock CPU?

After much testing I could only get 1391mhz 100% stable, regardless of voltage settings. Could get 1.5ghz to benchmark, but never fully stable. It does speed up the phone quite a bit, but the biggest improvement is simply using a debloated ROM with every APK removed that you can.
