Hi there,
I'm trying to perform backup from original Eclair 2.1. I have installed Rom Manager and it says ClockorkMod 2.5.1.2 as current. But when I squeeze Reboot to recovery, it does go in Stock Recovery... I have tried to press home+vol up and pwr button and it goes again to stock recovery... The home button is a bit worn out but I don't reckon that would be the issue for some reason..
Any ideas?
Thanks.
When I had this I realised that I have still had official update. After updating official newest ROM I got new cwm too.

So you suggest updating with OTA or zip file? without back up?
Where can I find zip file with official update? To froyo? Or something else?
No option to OTA in the settings...

Best you use KIES ( just google and download) to update your phone to Gingerbread 2.3.6, automatically, when you are not familiar with using Odin3 to Flash a gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM, Also read this for reference on how to use Odin3 to upgrade

Home button is not the problem. Did you root your system? And why Eclair? It freezes often and is very slow. Already rooted Froyo is so much better and Gingerbread is a royal thing against Eclair....

While I didn't get any notification for updates, what's actually your received updates that need to be flashed via CWM Recovery (and not attempting at all)?
And how to fix it, perhaps you should try to unbrick it..

I have been informed by update utility in my phone there is an update. So the phone download this update and reboots. After reboot it enter to cwm and that's was all. Cwm did nothing.

After doing unbrick method I've got this
It's in polish and it's saying software update. It's keeps looping after reboot with the same screen.

I think unbrick method did not flash my phone. It stay on 4% even when my phone was rebooted to update screen.

try recovery with b2c app. Worked for me.
1 - put phone in recovery mode: Volume+ key and usb cord.
2 - start b2c app, select recovery
EDIT: the app will download latest firmware from internet

Perhaps that's just "screen bugs" that shows 4% (I've had the same experience) but it will get to 100%, pay attention to the progress logs.

This was solved earlier. Just flash V20a. The Chinese one with SmartFlash. You should read the forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374611&page=3
Thanks a lot guys.
Method with Chinese rom works like a charm.

Hello,
Last month I installed my I9000 CM9 using CWM recovery, today I decided to give my brother's phone a go doing the same.
He didn't have CWM recovery, so we had to flash it using Odin, after a few tries we managed to do this and now the phone starts in recovery mode.
In recovery mode, we installed cm9 and gapps with no problems, but when the phone is rebooted - it goes into a boot loop and this comes up each time.

I can go into recovery mode and download mode.
I tried wiping/factory resetting, wiping dalvik cache / fixing permissions - they didnt work.
I cannot figure out what I should do next.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I had the exact same problem before on my i9001. I dont know what causes this problem, but what solved my problem is: do a full wipe. flash latest stock firmware through odin. Then just retry installing cwm (make sure you have the right one).
Tell us if this works or not.
Hit thanks if i helped

Thanks for the Quick reply, I appreciate it. But before trying all you said, I would like some other people to share their views on this.
Maybe there is another (easier) or (less risky) ways of solving it. Is there? Anyone?

If my post helped, don't mind hitting THANKS
he is talking about i9000.

Try to wipe data/factory reset, dalvik cache, then reinstall cm9
U just need to flash stock gb firmware first via Odin and let it boot properly because if u don't then there might be some mobile signal issues then root ur device and flash whatever Rom u want..

So my uncle was flashing stuff into his phone (GT-i9100) as he does from time to time, and suddenly the back button stopped working.
He continued to flash things in order to fix it. He actually did it but as soon as the back button was fixed the home button "broke", apparently caused by something similar. I guess it's not a hardware problem.
He gave the phone to me in case I could come up with a solution.
I have already flashed all the stock stuff (2.3.5) with Odin, but the home button remains dead. Even in recovery mode and all that (I can't even put the device in download mode with the famous combination, I had to do it with ADB).
So the question is, is the home button recoverable? If it is, how?? If not, can someone explain to me how did it died??
Thanks a lot.

follow green for recovery mode and red for download mode
you can follow this
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
If you can reach download mode, it will be fine.
Before switching between custom roms it is better to downgrade first to a stock rom and root it and flash after that another custom rom.
The reason are different system partitions, many custom roms for i9000 use different partitions than stock does. Thr devs suppose stock rom as your outgoing point before upgrading to custom rom. Now you should flash a stock rom, root it and flash MIUI after that.

1. First of all , don't worry!
2. try this USB jig-
galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-hacks/how-to-make-a-usb-jig-for-your-galaxy-s2/
3. After using this jig, your phone will come directly into download mode. Make sure that battery is charged at least 25%.
4. Now flash XXJVU 2.3.6 official. Read my post in below link-

You can try this method

I have problem with SGS. When I got it from my friend there was Android 2.3.3. When i turn on the phone, booting took maybe 30minutes, then all apps started to crash. So I did wipe data and wipe cache in system recovery but it didnt solve the problem. Then I flash over Odin official firmware but still booting takes about 30minutes and all apps are crashing. I tried to flash three files rom via odin too but it didnt help. So please help, i really dont know what to do now, i tried everything
Phone is non-rooted, there is official 2.3.6 but all is crashing so it is unusable.
Thanks and sorry for my english

yes you can, use odin and the download menu of the phone (turn it of, then turn it on and press volume down + home + power buttom for a few sec)
there are a few guids in this forum how to do that, just search for it
