Hello everybody,
I have installed on my (miniSD class10 with 8GB) android.
i made 2 partitions:
1. FAT32 and 1.Ext4
Now im trying to Format the disc but it says ( write protected).
sombody know how to get it clean again???

micro SD adapter has lock and unlock switch

No thats not it.

If you are formatting it on your phone try to format it on a pc. You can use NTFS. Or vice versa

No, its write protected can not format in phone or pc.
Is it possibel that the files on it are protected when i installed android on it?

SDcard format ?

I have a 1 gig card to use in my rooted NC. Do I need to format it some special way ? I have it formated as NTFS but I can not read it with ASTRO. It should be listed under sdcard right ? but I dont see it.
Help!
From what I've read on the Nook Color spec, it supports the FAT32 filesystem.
Try formatting your microSD card to that (or use the Nook to format the sd card directly)

Yup, FAT32 will work if what you have is a PC. There may be some UNIX filesystem format that's supported too, but for a 1 GB card, FAT32 is enough with its 4 GB file size limitation.

[Q] Problem with large movies... pls help

Hi everybody,
today i want to get a movie (5,5 GB .mkv file) into my SGS and when i will travel i will be watch it but i have a problem. my phone write me that it cant copy this file into phone. i have free space... where is a problem ? thx
video file size > 4gigs = will not fit on external sd card formatted with fat32
As to how to get to see it on a linux based phone - you will need a linux person to tell you how to setup your sd card so that you can copy large files to it. It might not work in windows after that...
If it was a windows phone you'd format it in ntfs - but I dont think our phones will be happy with that format of card...
Linux peoples - how would this guy get a mem card to format up to take a > 4 gig file on it?
Can it be done easily? What restrictions would there be?
download a tool called 'paragon partition manager'
excellent tool for creating / formatting partitions to operate on linux systems, as well as windows.
ok thanks, but i have in my phone 2 GB microSD card. i want copy into phone's sdcard. so it mean that i should buy larger microsd card
Fastest and simplest way is to cut your movies into parts under 4Gb. This way you don't need to buy a new card or format a current card.
Could he not use GParted and format the card as ext4?

Can you see what type of file system it has. On android only FAT32 is allowed. If it is NTFS or exFAT i think can't work on a phone. If that is your case you must backup data form card and change file-system type to FAT.

I'm not so stupid, I tried with integrated Windows tool - no luck
I know now - integrated tools and any other tools sucks, you have to use normal tools. Problem solved with SDFormatter from sdcard.org.

SD card not recognized

Hello, i just put in a 8GB memory card from my brother's old phone on my X8 and it doesn't recognize it...
Says nothing in the notification bar, when i go storage it says unavailable and unable to mount, like it's not there?
I can't format it because i can't connect it to the computer (i don't have memory card reader) via the phone...
What can i do?
Running on GingerDXv031
format it manually in the x8 then or try re inserting it

Try format card via recovery. Always worked for me.
Try remove partition and make new one as well. Then format it from phone.

I think you won't need the CWM-apar, just the format using your phone
You could also try repairing your phone with SEUS...
It would be better to see if stock can manage your sd card or not

He has already did it with no success.
I had similar issue on som roms on LG GT540.
I inserted card into card reader. Remove partition. Make new one and format it from phone.
Try change filesystem from FAT32 to exFAT. Can also help.

When you will format SD Card on PC then you dont have to format once again on phone.

Theres a lot software for making/removing/changing partitions. In win XP is also in Computer Managment an option where you con check for existing partitions, making it, or remove. I dont know if there is similar software on other windows (I dont use it ) Just use google and some brain.
Did U used MTP (Multimedia) Mode or MSC (Memory) Mode?
