Power Pack 3000 - info? - Moto X Q&A

Motorola is selling this portable phone charger on their website, but there is almost no information on it anywhere (or at least, none that I can find).
http://www.motorola.com/us/accessories-batteries-chargers/Power-Pack-3000/Power_Pack_3000.html
Does anyone own one or can they perhaps offer some information on it?
How long does it take to charge the pack and how long does the pack take to charge a phone?

For that price I would look at the New Trent line instead. I got a 12,000mAh battery for $50 shipped from Amazon. It's $60 now (ASIN: B00DUKJ5CQ)
I would guess for a 3000mAh battery it would take around 3 hours to fully charge the battery with a 1 amp charger. Probably 2 hours to charge the phone.

Or these Anker battery packs. That Motorola one is a ripoff.

I have this one, cord hides inside & small enough to hold phone & charger in one hand if using it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0054U6CEE/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1380974640&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165

[Q] Travel Battery Pack

I am on travel very often and my last experience with my Desire was that when working on the phone with no possibility of charging it, I was left with very little or non battery late afternoon. Any suggestion for a good Travel Battery Pack anyone? One extra charge will do. Thanks
Probably better off getting a spare battery, and charge it up, most easiest way i think instead of carrying aa batteries and charge cases, leads etc.
Just look on ebay and click cheapest first.

Cheap lol but check the postage time if they are from CHINA
Good Luck
Got these Conversions for you for a rough guide
Sunday, May 1, 2011
11 British Pound = 15.91271 Swiss Franc
11 Swiss Franc (CHF) = 7.60398 British Pound (GBP)
Median price = 1.44461 / 1.44661 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 1.44461 / 1.44661
Maximum price = 1.44461 / 1.44661
Hope this helps
i use solar charger it has built in 3000Ma battery you can also charge it from pc or adapter and ready to go with extra power. Have it from ebay for $29
Did anyone test any spare batteries from ebay? Thought of getting some, but not sure if it is worth it or not (the charge should at least be as high as the stock battery's) .
Got this few days ago from a china online retailer. Good construction and nice pocketable size. Slightly heavier than LG2X & about 20% thicker. Comes with 0.5A & 1A USB output.
So far, on 0.5A output, no in-charger lock ups yet - which I do get from some AC chargers.
Priced upwards of US$35. Google for "5000mah Power Bank".
will LG come out with an extended battery for the Optimus 2X ?
If they made 2 models. one like we have with a 1500 battery and one that is 1.2-1.4X thicker with lets say a 3000 battery I think almost everybody would choose the slightly thicker 3000 battery model.
These devices are small enough as it is, they should now stop trying to make them smaller as they are surely limited by the screen size, and make them last longer.
I had a Del Axim X50v a few years back that I brought an extended battery and battery cover for, this actually made the device feel better in the hand.
I think the future is not far... for batteries that are either running on gas or like these ones which can be fully charged in less than 3 min. http://green.autoblog.com/2011/03/23/new-battery-technology-electric-vehicles-recharge-minutes/

Well I order mine, but the version with 1 charger and 2 spare batteries (3 batteries is just plain greedy) We'll see how long they take to get here.

Does anyone know of a portable battery pack that charges at over 500mah? all of the battery packs Ive seen are around 500mah and that doesn't seem to be enough to even charge the G2X coming from my old charger.

Only tested twice from over 70% to full on 0.5A. Took longer than using AC adapter. Tried it once on 1A but got a bit hot quite quickly, so I switched over to 0.5A. Also, it takes a while to charge the pack itself from partial empty to full on 1A AC adapter - so I am guessing the 5000mah claim is reasonably accurate.
I bought this item from DealExtreme.

It works fine, but the input broke after some uses and I had to fix it.

Review: 11200mah Yooboa Power Bank - any alternatives?

So I purchased this for my note off eBay. Paid about $40 shipped to my door. Impressed by the quality, it looks sturdy and would last a while.
I used battery current tester and only got 600max charge apposed to the 1200 my stock Samsung charger puts out.
This means 4-6 hours charge time instead of 2 and I must say when I use the phone on charge it actually sucks battery.
It's rated at 2amps which was my mistake but unsure if it makes much difference at 2.1amps.
" Input: DC5V---1000mA; Output 1: DC 5.3V?1000mA (Max); Output 2: DC 5.2V?2000mA (Max)
1A & 2A output at the same time, suit charge for mobile phone, Tablet PC, Digital Camera etc."
Does anyone know how I can get 1200? Or can suggest a power bank for the note 2 that can hold a good charge in say 2-3 hours?

I assume you are not on Verizon and using Galaxy Charger Current app to track your current?
OK, here is a scoop on external battery pack you got. Since you bought it from ebay, I can guarantee you that Yooboa is a fake HK version. eBay sellers buy it form Aliexpress retailers in bulk and re-sell it at double the profit. Take a look here: http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...00mah&catId=0&initiative_id=AS_20130429044248 - you can get it for $20 shipped free to US (but aliexpress retailers doesn't accept paypal).
There only a few authorized Yoobao resellers in the world, and Kevikev is probably one of the few (if not the only one) in US. Even at his discounted price, this real model cost $55: http://kevikev.com/Yoobao-Long-March-11200mah-Power-Bank-for-USB-Mobile-Device-YB-642.htm
The fake ones look very real but have fake guts. Beside 600mA current you measured (or maybe it's just a typical 500mA pc-usb current?), it most likely is not 11200 mAh but probably half of it, and you also have to take in consideration 30% de-rating on top of it since mAh capacity on external batteries is at 3.7V while it has to be converted to 5V usb output where you loose 25%-30% due to inefficiency.
I recommend Anker and NewTrent external power banks I have tested and reviewed (summary of my review links in my signature). Just keep in mind those mAh numbers in reality are always 30% lower for the actual capacity your phone sees. I also been informed NewTrent will be releasing 13000 mAh slim battery in a few weeks which I'm going to review as well. But either way, Anker and NewTrent are trusted brand names (with a ton of amazon positive reviews) and offer 1A and 2A outputs and also 1A input charging of the battery itself so you can quickly charger your battery pack and then quickly charger your phone as well.
I'm on an Australian Telstra phone.

Looks like I'm tossing this junk, I'll just go buy one you mentioned.

You are welcome. If you are not in a rush and can wait till mid of May, the NewTrent upcoming PowerPak+ might be a good choice since you are after a higher capacity. I only have their preliminary spec but its going to be 13,500 mAh (@3.7V) with 1A input charging, and dual 1A and 2A outputs, and dimensions of 125mm x 68mm x 28mm @ 283g.
Also, as I mentioned in other threads, stay away from those ebay no name 20,000 mAh ext battery bricks...

Believe it or not, i read your reviews and cross checked some prices online.
The NewTrent may be a better battery than the Anker, but its about 3 x the price to get them from US to AUS.
I ended up getting the new ANKER A4 13000mah
1. Because the 3E was the only other for sale
2. They're both USB input so it makes more sense just to go the higher mah rating
3. Its a new model
Paid $60 shipped to my door from ANKER off ebay.
I purchased it for travelling across Europe - i want the option to charge via AC + USB instead of just AC with the Anker 3. I only intend to use it with my Note anyway and bought it because Hostels won't always have free powerpoints.
My last question i was worried about and just bit the bullet with is: How long does it take to charge via AC (samsung stock) ? It says a crazy 8-10hours on the website via USB. I don't want to leave it alone fearing someone will steal it if its 10 hours.
Thanks again - how do i thank you in your other post? can't find the button.

Uh, totally forgot m8, you are Down Under I know it has been mentioned before by others that shipping outside of US for some products could kill the price. Or sometimes you can't even get the product shipped out; there is a thread started by another member from Australia about getting Zerolemon 9300 mAh battery.
I was about ready to suggest another battery from Yoobao (genuine) rated at 15,600 mAh for $60 from Kevikev, but it probably going to cost you arm'n'leg to ship it out. Sounds like you got a great deal on that Anker battery and even after de-rating you should still get 3 full chargers of Note 2. Regarding charging time, just look at it this way, your rating is 13000 mA-hour. The input to this Anker E4 is 1500 mA, and that's how much current it will take every hour so 13000 / 1500 = 8.6 hours. I think it will be closer to 8 hours of charging. Your wall Samsung charger is 2A which means it can supply up to 2000 mA of current which is plenty for battery's 1500 mA input to charge it at full rate. But if you are using a wall charger rated at 1A or an old phone charger rated at 500mA-750mA - your input will be charging at a much slower rate because AC charger will not be able to supply full 1500 mA amount. Probably charging overnight is the best idea if you are worrying about someone taking it away. But these things are so small, and even with stock usb cable you don't have to be next to outlet. Probably put a newspaper over it or something when you are away? These don't get overheat even considering 30% of energy loss.

I paid $49 + $9 shipping - a bargain in my book. All the other batteries are $50 to ship, which is about the price of the unit itself!
I think i will stay away from Yoobao from now on haha. 8.6 Hours is OK, it doesn't need to be fully charged at all times - just enough for a quick recharge in an emergency situation where i can't find a charger or provide another 3-4 hours battery while im kicking it on the train for 6 hours.
I couldn't get the Astro 3 anyway - even if i was looking for a 4-5 hour AC charge.
Looking forward to testing this badboy out!

External battery pack for G2

Hello,
I m looking for a battery pack which would feet with my new lg g2. I nearly bought an Anker but their custom service told none of their batteries were compatible with the G2.
I found some clues that the Trent power pack ultra do work with it but I cannot find a way to deliver it to France...
Does someone has a valid battery pack which working well with the gorgeous G2 battery? I am not looking for a case because to be able to use it to charge some other stuff like an iPad.
Thanks.
Compatible? It's just a charger, right? It just provides a ready supply of power at a certain voltage, with a max amperage. So I'm sure everything will work. If you want max charging speed, pick a 2A max current model

I saw few comments of users telling that their phone stop charging 3-4 seconds after plugging in the charger. Anker even remove every reference to LG G2 on their website, some battery page mention of "not compatible with G2" cf: Anker 2nd Gen Astro3 12000mAh
It s what made me suspicious, and I have started looking for real feedback on battery pack with G2.
I m guessing g2 with his gorgeous battery have some kind of protection circuit which does not accept low current charger or stuff like that.

Seems odd to me. I've been using my phone with cheap ebay chargers, which admittedly gave me pretty slow charging, but they've always worked. Sorry, I can't be of any help then, maybe someone else knows.
I have a RavPower 10400mAh and it works great with my lg g2. I don't know why Anker doesn't have any chargers that fit with g2 as most of the phones in the market has either a cable like apples' or a unified like most of the other phones.

it really differs, I mean, some were absolutely crap, but most of them are able to give atleast 500mA, concidering its a 3000mA battery, that would be 6 hours. In comparison, the stock charger would manage to do it in well under two hours. But charging rate is something I think the manufacturer should provide in the spec sheet.
If you have a Verizon model, you might run into problems as third party chargers have been reported to be very slow.
Look HERE . They have some awesome deals.
30,000MAH is that even possible?

I sprung for a mophie powerstation XL (it helps I work for a large photo/electronics retailer and got a great discount on it) and am very happy with it. It's a little big and weighs about a pound, but fits in my bag and it can charge my G2 and my N7FHD multiple times. I'm going to Vegas for a week and know the 12,000 mAh battery is plenty to cover my devices and my wife's SGSIII.
I've got an Anker Astro 5600mAh and it charges my G2 perfectly fine. Sure, its at the slower speed, 1A, but a charge is a charge.
Sometimes it cant charge with external charger because of the charger and phones electronic talk together and find some reason why not to charge. This problem is very usual with laptops and laptop chargers. I had this problem once with phone too and the easiest what helped me was to use another microusb cable, the one with only charging ports, not the data ports.
I use the anker 2nd gen 6000mAh and I have always a good charge time
Inviato dal mio LG-D802 utilizzando Tapatalk
Try the RAVPower external battery pack, I have their 14,000mAh and it can charge two devices at the same time. It did help me out of emergencies many times.
I would still like to know why its not compatible. I've been using the 1st gen anker astro (10,000 mah model) without issue untill it has decided to die hence now looking to replace it.
I also use the Anker 40w wall (also using power QI) charger with my G2 without a problem...
have raikko 5200 MAh, have it for about 3 years (bough it for my old optimus 2x originally) and it still works. I think the capacity is little lower now, but still great results after long time. I can charge approx one and quarter times.
i have 3 diferent external battery packs. (im playing ingress)
My advice ... By a anker of amazon. thay are by far the best chargers and the price is realy good.
I had the same issue when I was going to buy an Anker battery pack as well.
I think I'll probably get a RavPower battery pack. Is it best to use the 2amp slot to charge the LG G2?
Noontec Polo II
I have a Noontec Polo II 5600mAh battery and it charges my phone (D802) perfectly fine. On 2A out it takes 2h10m from 0 to 100% (phone turned on, very very light usage during the charge process)

This is probably the last genuine battery available.

After these are gone all the rest found on will either be questionable copies or third party ones like Anker.

I tried waiting at Samsung web site for over 3 weeks for a battery, with no response, I have 2 note 4, black and white for me and my wife...
my 4 older Samsung batteries and 2 charger kits and they don't hold a charge anymore, from about 10 - 15 percent left, they shut down...
I just bought anker batteries on ebay with a charger for about $31, they hold a charge to 1%.. about 2 weeks ago.
they are lasting much better than the samsungs. and buying Samsung batteries on ebay or amazon.. u might be getting these fake batteries that don't last..
I've always gone Amazon. They were OEM batteries. I always check the feedback to make sure they aren't pulling a bait and switch.

The ones on Amazon are 99% fake knock offs which risk fire. Any story you have read online about a phone catching fire is usually either a result of a cheap knock off battery or adapter.
The only two places that have Note 4 batteries still are 100% legit.
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EB-BN910BBUSTA
and the Best Buy kit I posted earlier in the thread. Anywhere else is questionable.
If a big box store gets them like B & H they will be legit too.
Amazon's inventory has been proven to be compromised. Several have posted online about their batteries even "shipped and sold by amazon" had been clones.
In case you didnt know this happens often on Amazon. The SD Card market and perfume market on Amazon even from Amazon is also like this.
I'm using the Zerolemon 10000mah battery, also if there is a Batteries+ they stock standard replacement batteries for most phones.
Im very happy with Anker bought on Amazon.

I would recommend the one from Anker, same capacity as OEM from a reputable brand that makes batteries. It also comes with 18 month warranty and a bit cheaper than OEM one. If you still want the OEM one make sure it is shipped and sold by Amazon.com and you should be fine.
I ordered 2 anker and a external charger on eBay for $35

1 battery can last me one day, sometimes down to 30 percent, depends on what I am doing, other times, down to 20 and under.. but it makes the day, then I swap and use the other, but only when it drains to 1 2 or 3...
they are better than all these knock off, I think I paid $31.. but they are better than all my old ones put together, wait till my wife come back from vacation, she will definitely take 1, then I will have 4 old batteries. then I have to test the old batteries and anything that shuts down from 20 or 15 percent is getting retired, junked out..
maybe I will have to buy another set to be happy..

I just Re-read your post, you did say that. Well I got (hopefully) the same thing, I think I paid $32 to be exact. Fingers crossed.
I'm waiting on these in the mail. I wonder if they will be good? Ebay item 201375415018 How would I tell if they are fakes?
I'm waiting for my anker package with 2 batteries and an external charger myself.
I read in another thread, they blame the quick charge 2.0 puck for damaging the batteries. Saying the increase voltage pushed to the battery for fast charging is what kills the life of the battery.
So my question is, those who have replaced Samsung with aftermarket batteries, are you still charging at night with the Samsung qc2.0? Or just using a 1amp or 2amp charger?
Help appreciated.
Mostly use the old 2A charger to prolong battery longevity. Need a quick boost? Adaptive fast charger or turbo charger from moto.
I unlocked your mum's bootloader.
Well I disabled fast charge option on the phone so it should be charging at a "normal" rate now and not the high voltage charging.
So far these anker batteries seem excellent, at least compared to my very degraded original samsung batteries. A deal for 2 Batts and a external charger Imho.
The more I use regular charging, my battery appears to improve and return to normal. All this only supports my reservation towards devices with sealed batteries.

Note8 Fastest-charging battery packs?

I'm looking for:
From Amazon US site
Charges Note8 via Fast Charging
Has more than one full Note8 charge
Suggestions of ones you've tested? (URLs?)
(Most of the battery packs I have tried do not provide Fast Charging on Note8.)

How big you looking? I have a 28600 anker that has fast charge. They now have a USB C PD bank that should charge faster than reg USB to C. Have heard RAV are good also. Just putting that out so you can have a choice and compare. I do know one thing I got a 5k version for my son non fast charge. I took it on vacation in July invade we needed a smaller charger on the go. Forgot it was in the suitcase. I pulled it out last week and it still had a full charge. So anker seems to know their stuff.

I was looking around 10Ah, else they get too heavy for just me. For when my family travels, 20-40.
What's the URL/model for your 28600? I don't see any with that value on Amazon.com (oh, the 26800 for $83?)
Thee zerolemon external charger ( not the phone case) works well
I have the Samsung Fast Charge 5100 mAh battery Pack w/ USB-C and it's a great little charger. The screen on charge is 1010mA average and the screen off charge is 2356 mA average. I purchased mine for $37. If it's for yourself and not a gift, you can get the damaged packaging one from Amazon Warehouse deals for $25.91. I love the small size of the charger and the build is great. I also purchased this Soft Felt Pouch for the charger.

That's the one I decided to buy. Silver and Navy Blue have "like new" for $20.
The.passthroigh charging was another strong point in its favor.
Thanks to you, and to all who replied!

Yeah it's the $83 one. I got it on sale for like $60. I will say get what you need. I got the big one because it was a disney trip and we all know smartphones drain fast. Needed the power bank to last all day. Whatever you get they are very handy and not reduced to looking for a plug.

This question for everyone. How long does the battery pack hold its charge? A week, month, longer? My main reason is power outages. My last portable would be dead by the time I actually needed it. Would be nice one held juice 2-3 months. Idk if thats possible? I live in the city. We usually have power outage once every few months. Sucks being in the stone age for 0-6 hours. Depending on what caused it and how much damage.

Ok cool thanks I appreciate it. Anker definitely one of the best battery brands out there. Thats impressive charge hold and perfect for me. Will cruise Amazon and look for best portable Ankrer battery pack. Thanks for the suggestion!
That's how my bank is also. Drain is minimal. I dont know about the rav or others. I only have anker. I am sure the more popular brands has the same performance

I have a romoss sense 6+, 20000mah has a usb c in and out, quick charge 3.0 PD3.0. Very affordable as well. I got mine for 15usd
Heavy power consuming apps and constant usage if WhatsApp and Facebook will definitely drain the battery of any smartphone. And power bank is one of the solutions to this thing who are traveling continuously. That's why I'm using Anker 20100mAh power bank, this power bank charge 2 device simultaneously at faster speeds.
