[Q] HTC Sync Manager problem! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Info: I have windows 7 64bit, new HTC ONE(unboxed yesterday), HTC Sync Manager version 2.1.77.0,usb debug is enabled
Im trying to connect my new HTC ONE to my computer, my computer recognize the device open it as media device
the Sync Manager recognize the device and start Connecting.. it stays in "Connecting.." for a long time( more than 30sec), and then it says no Phone is connected.
when i enter my phone from Explorer(Computer->HTC ONE) i have Internal storage:
** sometimes i have files and folder inside
** sometimes i have only folder inside
** sometimes i have nothing inside..
** when trying to copy somethin from it, it just trying to copy untill timeout.
i tried many things on the phone (Disenable\enable USB Debug, resets and more...)
tried to reinstall Sync Manager many times.. tried reseting my computer...
I would really appreciate if some1 could help me solve this problem.. cause i cant insert files into the phone... and its annoying.
Thanks to every1 who tries to help me!

this is the main problem: cant transfer file from PC to PHONE it just wont copy.. and sometimes tell me my device has been disconnected or stop working

Which os you have on your pc??
Because the mtp protocol is for windows, but if you have xp or mac you need use a program, not htc sync.
If you have linux, you have to co figure the mtp

Yeah, sorry, didn't see.
However, if you open the device manger, you can see mtp device? Or something like this?
Without any error? (Yellow triangle)

newb question - installing .apk?

OK - rookie here - how do you install a .apk - I've downloaded one to my computer but don't know the next steps. The manual is silent and I think this is such a basic question that search on the forum didn't help.
Too bad there wasn't a basic FAQ for us newbies.
Thanks.
Jack
Connect your phone to your computer, drag the apk to your phone, use a file explorer on your phone (estrong) etc, to find the file on your SD card, click on it and it will give you an option to install it

You could also just use HTC Sync that came with your phone and push the .apk with that. It's how I installed Swype.

un root works.
will unroot work if the phone was rooted using the manual method?

Hmmm, everytime it says "extract gingerbreak" the program freezes, on both of my computers... And the LG Android drivers are installed.

I used psneuter for the root method inside s1c (should be default). I heard prior to using s1c that gingerbreak wasn't working on this phone.
Well after breaking the command prompt on my laptop(vista...) I got it on my old desktop. Problem was computer sucked. So if anyone has a crappy computer. When it freezes. On your phone endebug. Wait about twenty seconds. It'll freeze again. Debug it. It'll freeze again. Undebug again. Itll process about half of the information. Then this time it wont freeze but it'll wait for you to debug it again. Then it'll install superuser and test it. So Gingerbreak. Freeze. Undebug. Freeze. Debug. Freeze. Undebug. Ask for root. Debug.
Hey not everyone has good computers now

The original was not a real zip, it's a rar. Rename it to .rar and open it with 7-zip. If not, re-download it. Preferably here: http://shortfuse.org/?page_id=2. Supposedly that one's a bonafied zip.
s1c never gets past "Waiting for Device"...any suggestions?

Did you enable USB Debug and put your phone USB setting to "internet connection?"
Yea, and I installed the drivers however windows is still asking to go through the horrible windows driver wizard but doesn't locate the drivers anywhere.

Find the LG Revolution in that list and grab the WHQL drivers.
@bwhxeon - you may want to include that link in your guide. Those drivers are a pain in the butt to find.

I'll put the link up on the original post, so these will get windows to stop asking for drivers even after they are installed via boostrap already?

Yeah, this is the complete set of drivers for this device (nothing omitted). It will go through the process of setting up the drivers one more time, and then never again (it should find everything).
Ok so I used the drivers from that page and when I use S1C it gets to running psnsuter (or gingerbreak both do the same thing) it never gets any further.. I even waited like 15mins.. I have usb debug on and internet connection mode. I tried the manual adv method and when I run the. rage command in adb shell adb restarts but my phone never shows back online doing the adb devices command... I am at a loss.... have used both win 7 and win XP.

Can someone tell me how to install windows rom?

I tried android on x1, but its really slow, and i want to try wm 6. 5 but i dont know how to flash it. Can someone write me the instructions? Thanks!
Hi,
here in the ROM section is a great thread with video instruction. -> click here <-
but before you can flash a ROM you must first HARDSPL your phone -> here's how <-
Finaly there are 2 ways to flash, one way is via SD card -> click here <- or via PC with active sync -> click here <-
I think via SD card is the simplest and easy way. But it is your choose
If you still have question ask me but before read the post of the threads I post you because they should answer your questions.
BTW: try to search for your problem, if you dont like the searchform in the forum use google: "<your problem in short words> site:xda-developers.com"
Thanks man

I guess he's still in android..
Can you enter the triple colored screen?(Put the phone off, remove battery for a sec, place back, press volume down, and then press the power button. KEEP IT PRESSED! then wait until you see the 3 colored screen)
If you can, keep it in that 3 colored screen, and then start the hard spl installer on the computer.
Yes i can, thank you!

Ok,i did and nothing.how can i fix it?
looks like your your phone isn't recognized by activesync (xp) or device center (vista & win7) on pc.
that's what "your phone needs to be synced!" in the instructions means. you don't have to set up a sync-partnership (contacts etc), it's enough if you can browse the phone from explorer.
if you can't get that to work, use sd-method:
download xperia078_2.zip from hardspl-thread, extract the ruu_signed.nbh, rename it to kovsimg.nbh and copy it to root of your sd-card. now enter bootloader and follow the instructions.
make sure that the file is named "kovsimg.nbh" only, not "kovsimg.nbh.nbh"!!!

Can I transfer files under linux?

Thinking about getting one of these to replace my Defy (I managed to beat up my Defy so hard I broke it -- I probably shouldn't be allowed a new smart phone :silly: ).
But I use linux. And for some reason Motorola have set it up so you need Windows software to mount it. I don't want to have to reboot my computer every time I want to transfer a file.
I'm not talking about root (I might not even bother -- but I *can* reboot into windows just to do that). I just want a phone that's compatible with my ordinary computer for ordinary file transfer. Is there a way?
Thanks,

The problem when doing this is that you can't access everything, but I may be wrong.
The best way (thanks to purplet ) is to use Airdroid or something similar if possible.
Another way is to root and re-enable the USB mass storage.
Finally, you can use ADB if you're ok with command line.
So actually, I now see that this applies to all android 4.0+ devices, and you need to get mpt installed, then all is fine. If anyone else wanted to know, here are some instructions:

I don't have a problem copying files to it from my Windows 8.1 PC. Do you have USB Debugging enabled in Developer Options?
