One thing that I wish Samsung would copy Apple is ACTUALLY have a real 64 GB version. Announce to everyone during the event that there will be a 64 gb version then never actually sell it is just wrong. So is anyone hopeful and still holding out for it?
64GB is mythological. I don't think I've ever seen a 64GB Samsung phone..not even on youtube.

It'll probably be the international version, like it was with the Note II (and it was only available on the Asian market).
I could see them doing a mid model year update variant with 64 gb for major carriers. purely speculating.

The standard supports cards larger than 64GB. Even 64GB ones are relatively recent.
I think the limit is technical. Look at the underside of a 64GB MicroSD card - The black rectangle is the chip; and it takes up almost the whole area. It's around 50mm^2, which is around the die size of the most advanced 32GB flash memory - so they've got 2 of those stacked up, and the whole thing still barely fits.
They need another process shrink to get 128GB of flash into a MicroSD card form factor...
I too wish I could have had the choice to purchase a 64GB Note 3.
I have a 64GB card in mine and I will purchase a 128GB card when they become available.
The note 3 should support any size card that is SDxc compatible.
They introduced the SDxc over 2 years ago at CES and the 64GB card is the biggest I've seen thus far, but the SDxc format is theoretically capable of supporting up to 2TB cards. It will come eventually but I'm sure it will be a few years before we see something close to 1TB.
I am waiting for the 64GB version, will be out next September renamed teh Note 4 and only available in Asian markets.
It's not Samsung's fault...blame your carriers. The carriers aren't interested in carrying multiple versions of the same phone other than maybe a different color. The only phone that gets away with it is the iPhone because their followers will buy anything.

I would have rather had a 32 GB than my 16. Once I load music and a couple movies its full.
I don't like having to watch the storage that close.

looks great finally google solved the storage issue only issue is that most people already have bought the 16gb varient and if this releases they are stuck with 16 gig unless they sell the 16gb and buy a 32gb version
I saw this like an hour ago and I would jump on this as soon as it is released. I got the 8 GB and after about a week I regretted not getting the 16 GB because 5 GB definitely isn't enough for backups and a lot of high definition games.

Another website explained the Carphone Warehouse refers to the Samsung Nexus S as the "Samsung Nexus 2", I assume because it came after the Nexus One.
Personally, I would rather they made one model...an 8GB model at $199 with an SD Card... If these things sold as good as one would believe, that simple change would have made this thing sell twice as good (in my opinion).
Yea that would make sense but I read an article a week or so ago that explained why the Nexus devices don't have SD slots: its not because they're forcing us to use cloud storage its because they're trying to get rid of the two different locations for storage. There weren't chips big enough to add a crap load of storage until now (I believe Samsung just released their 64 GB chips). I wouldn't mind not having removable storage as long as there's like 32 or 64 GB worth.
Most likely this wont happen but it be pretty awesome if Google made it an option that you could send in your N7 to them and then they could update it for you for an extra 10-15 dollars to 32GB. I would be first in line to do this.

Actually you could do this yourself if the only design change is the increased RAM.
The display is the most expensive part of the Nexus. If the form follows function of the 32GB, you'd simply purchase a repair MB for the 32GB model to put into your 8 or 16GB model.

I'm holding out hope to see if there will be a release of the 32GB version of the S5. My HTC One X has been driving me crazy with bad battery life! Personally, I never felt the need for anything over 16gb. All my previous phones have been 16gb's and I never even came close to filling them up...and that was with music and pics on the internal storage. This time, I have a 32gb SD card for all of that...so I'm set. :good:
It all depends on your personal needs. I know those who were wanting the 32gb model were/are hoping it'll be released in the 2 week return time-frame, but I doubt it, unfortunately. It definitely does suck that they screw over those people.
I'm waiting. Thus will be my work phone, which means I have to buy through my company and can only get a new phone every 18 months.i want to make sure I have room for apps, mail, etc... My S3 only stays at about 1G free through regular pruning.
I just bought a 64GB memory card, problem solved. If I somehow use all that space I know the phone will support up to 128... so no use in waiting honestly and I didn't. Using my S5 now.

You do realize that the real reason most people wait is because apps really don't move to the SD card anymore right? That means your stuck with the 7 or 8 gigs you have on your phone no matter if you bought yourself a SD card or not for your apps and various other stuff that need to physically be on your phones memory.
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
Yup 16 gig is definitely not enough. 32 gig is decent but Samsung has so much features/bloat the phone only really comes with a limited amount of memory. I remember having the 32 gig s4 and even though it was 32 it still wasn't enough memory. I put a bunch of music on my phone.

My thoughts exactly. The only reason I could see someone needing more space is for the big games...and maybe a select few of the bigger GPS apps. I never install any games, so that doesn't affect me and Google Maps works perfectly fine for me. Different strokes for different folks, though
If your in the same situation as me and do not have an upgrade available, then it's already expensive enough to get a 16. Much more cost effective to get 16 and ExSD.

Prices are all similar with the top phones. I'd also be interested in a GPE of the S5.

Yessir, I am. I have a 32gb S4, so the S5 better come out with it at a minimum. I would love a 128gb internal...
When I got my S4 I waited for the 32Gb version. My 16Gb S3 almost always had the sdcard full and I would have to delete stuff sometimes for Roms and such to download. I personally would not go back to a 16Gb version.
My biggest reason is this. If you get root and put on a ROM (hopefully in the future) and want to have 1 nandroid backup then that backup is about 4+Gb's. Not everything works best when put on a a external sdcard , the read/write speeds are a hendrance even with a class 10 card. I do have to say that I did a lot of making themes and tearing apart Roms so I could theme them. So I would fill up my internal and external sdcard pretty fast. Let alone if I was putting movies and music on it as well. I personally am waiting for a T-Mobile S5 with 32Gb's...
Sent From My Spiderman,Ironman,Red,Dark Blue,Green, GreyedOut BadAss Themed I337
FWIW, completely moved in with all my apps, and a couple new ones, 64 Gb SD card on board with media, and the 16 Gb device reports 9.17 Gb available internally (down from just under 11 Gb as shipped) and 31.08 Gb available on SD card.
I consider myself a median-to-light app installer, and I'm aggressive about uninstalling stuff I'm no longer using.
If you're someone who'se "phat" on apps then you'll want more, but for the rest of us I can't see how it's not livable with the SD card.
Brought my S5 back yesterday because I'm waiting for the 32Gb version (trying the M8 to pass away the time). I've been friends with the at&t mgr for couple years, he said AT&T will be getting the 32gb and a gold version...didn't say when though.
If the 32gb version doesn't come out in a couple weeks or so, I'll go back and get the 16gb. I'm just taking a chance that AT&T and company are pulling the same stunt with the S5 as they did with the S4.

Space you always get "screwed" on due to manufacturers using 1000mb=1gb instead of the ACTUAL measurement of 1024kb=1mb or 1024mb=1gb
But the class is something I agree with. class 4 is a bit slow. the other thing you have to look out for is if the class seems to be awesome for a small price, youre probably getting a class 2 instead of the higherclass advertised. been burned by this one often sadly. I no longer buy SD cards on amazon that arent US based lol.

Meant to be very fast but expensive.
With a Class 4 card, you will not be able to take Zoe's. The device will tell you the card is too slow. Saving pics and videos will also be slow, and you might get stuttering playing saved video, although music should be fine. Get a class 10 if you can afford it.

Unfortunately, eBay is awash with counterfeit SD cards. No name brands doctored to look like well known brands, and higher capacities (why the above reply mentioned getting "screwed" on the capacity). Folks on XDA have literally gotten SD cards where they peeled off the label (which said major brand, 64 GB, etc.) and found a label for a no-name 16 GB card underneath.
eBay is a great place to get deals, for sure. But unless you have a definitive reason to believe the seller and the product is legit, you really have no way of knowing if you are going to get counterfeit trash.
For this reason, I prefer to stick with reputable sellers like Newegg for certain things like SD cards.

Ummmm why would I post something if I am not serious unless I put jkjk I am definitely not kidding.
32 GB does not hold all the apps that will install, so most must be moved to SD card (external SD) and that is a one by one process. Unless you know of a batch move or move all to SD where I can do them all with a few clicks instead of one by one then I really need the 64GB model
Samsung says they make it - chatted, emailed and called them but they say they do not have a dealer list of who sells them - but they have been making them a while now
so someone has to carry the 64GB model???

Note 5 64GB is available for TMO
Have you called T-Mobile, or only asked in store? If it exists it probably was never available in store.
Trust me, the 32GB is enough. I have about 250 apps on my Note 5 and I am barely hitting 10GB of app storage usage. Also have a Note 4 with 32GB internal storage plus a 128GB microSD card in it and barely used the card. If you are into taking 4k video or wanting to put your movies on your phone, that's where more internal storage comes in handy. If not, then 32GB should be more than enough to do the job. As far as a 64GB note 4, Samsung only made a 32GB note 4, the only reason why they made a 64GB note 5 is to replace not having an microSD slot in it.

I have 256GB internal storage and a 64GB microSD card. Will probably upgrade to a 256GB once the price drops. Having a 400GB microSD Card seems overkill for somebody who has 256GB internal storage

As someone who has had their last 4 phones die on him I can tell you that no amount of internal storage is going to replace my need for removable storage. That said I have 64 GB internal and a 64 GB microSD card. Looking to upgrade to a 128 GB or 256 GB soon.
Agreed, give me as much external storage that can be made.

important thing is which class it is. like R/W speeds must be fast if you are going to use that sd card

Currently using the 256GB card from the Note 7 pre-order and I am becoming afraid to buy anything larger because who knows how much longer we will be using these cards. Manufacturer's like One+ and Google don't have Micro SD support and I would kick myself so hard if I shelled all that money out for something a future device can't even use.

Samsung already tried that and came back. I think we are pretty safe to bet on Samsung keeping the slot for awhile. I won't buy another phone without removable storage. I've lost so much on my last 4 phones that died, one being a Nexus 6P with no external storage.

Yeah, Samsung is keeping our expand-ability for now, just like with the headphone jack. They want (atleast for the note devices) to be seen as the premium devices for professional work and power users so I think they will keep that draw over more mainstream-focused devices like the Pixel who is directly competing with the iPhone for that userbase.

Explain that to the Note 5 users without external SD card support

Well, that was a sort of an experiment, they got the results, and they decided to re implement the sd card, as the note 5 was not very well received
Developing anything that would make a good flagship "Note" device any step closer to being handicapped like an iPhone is a bad experiment going in the wrong direction to begin with. I only bought a Note 5, because my Note 4 screen broke (and the repair costs justified replacing the unit). I'm still surprised that the Note 5 progressed past the prototype phase without the MicroSD card slot.
