My SGS has developed a fault 2 days ago I switched the phone off & the next thing I know is I get what looks like a battery laid on its side on the main screen, it appears for 15 seconds then dissapears for 15 seconds & repeats. I can find no way to turn the phone back on while it is like this & have resorted to reloading 2.3 Gingerbread but if once reloaded I then switch the phone off then the problem comes back.
Has anybody come across this problem before & knows how to cure it or is my phone knackered ?
I tried to add a picture of the symbol on the screen & I do not have enough posts to be allowed to.
Have you tried charging it? Silly question but you would be surprised.......

No question is silly, but yes I have charged it
Have you tried flashing a "stock Rom" yet?...
Hopefully this will mean more to you than it does to me !
Is this a "stock rom" :-
firmware 2.3.3
Baseband version I9000XXJVK
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 [email protected]#2
Gingerbread.XXJVK
If it is not a stock rom were can I find one ?
Thanks
Colin

Many thanks, just installed jvq but still have same fault
I would try an ezbase flash, search in dev for ezbase and follow instructions to the letter, this should get you up and running on a basic rooted deodexed rom, from there you can try a reflash of whatever you want

Can anyone help me how permanently kill Media Process (android.process.media) ?
It is always running in background and have a Download Service as shown in attachment. After killing it manually, it begins running again automatically.

its coz u always reactivate it without knowing.u can slaughter it but it doesnt make sense to stab it at da back while it doing its works perfectly
u can use titanium to uninstall or freeze system app if rooted, but i prefer u read first all information upon each app given
n use at ur own risk!

if I were you i wouldn't remove the app which runs the process.. it's a system process, droid knows when to run it or when not
try deleting the media memory (german: medienspeicher), this helps when there are media apps, that drain your battery
Look at sdcard0/DCIM/.thumbnails , i think that in it folder is huge .thumbdata[various numbers] named file present.

Is this ROM made for i9000?
You can download any rom for i9000 to pc and push it to your phone using "Mount USB Storage" in Mount and Format at Clockworkmodrecovery.

Look in My Android Solutions, link below
[27] Problem:- ClockworkMod Recovery giving Status 7 error "Installation aborted".
Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc
JellyBean Roms would require at least version 5 CWM. IF you are in Froyo, you need to upgrade to GB for bootloader upgrade too

you must flash the correct version of the kernel, if you are using Jelly Bean 4.3, than you should flash that kernel., if not look for same version as your current ROM.

I know that this mod belongs to "Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps", but if I will post it there, in about one or two days it would be lost, because we are a small comunity that uses this I9506 Galaxy S4 and it will not be interesting for other users.
So....this mod themes the battery and signal bars and covert them to iOS 7 look.
It`s made for JB 4.3.
It`s a flashable zip, so copy it to internal or external memory and flash it via CWM or Philz Recovery.
Also if you don`t like this mod the script automatically makes a backup of the stock battery and signal, wich can be found in "data/media/UniversalFlasher/"
I hope you will enjoy it.

Just for my curiosity...has anyone tried this mod yet? @Buda1996 how did you set a animated signature? I have tried a gif animation but i get an error.
