Hi all
I just got a new 32GB HTC One and have already destroyed it and really need help. Basically I have been rooting and installing custom ROMs my previous phones and they have been brilliant so I thought I would do the same to this one so I did and well...messed it up.
PROBLEM INFO
I have not got a backup image of the stock ROM, I kept it on the phone and it has got deleted when I formatted it. -- stupid I know
I turned S OFF and installed TWRP but when I installed the custom ROM the phone would not boot, it was stuck on the HTC screen and when I tried to access TWRP to reinstall, format, or even access the storage of the phone, the handset would switch off and restart.
So spending all day looking on forums I have finally given up and don't know what to do:crying:. I have tried to look for an RUU to match my phone but cannot seem to find one. I have relocked the bootloader as well (don't know if this is good or bad) and don't think I can unlock it unless you guys know, there is also a security warning on screen.

Sad to say that, but doing s-on on 1.54 was endless stupid.
Maybe fonfuneshop will s-off your phone, than you are good to go.

Too bad your s-off....You can still fix this though! Unlock your boot loader again, and then boot to boot loader. Use hasoon2000 s toolkit to reflash the recovery (or your own method.) then, use start an adb side load in TWRP, and side load a rom from your computer (arhd, stock, etc.) you should be good from here. It may be impossible for you to return to stock because you're s on on 1.54 and there is no stock ruu available. What version of the htc one do you have?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have just unlocked the Bootloader now via HTC Dev site. I can now access ClockworMod Recovery, on the recovery I go onto "ADB Sideload", then on the toolkit "ADB Sideload a ROM" option but get an error message: "device not found" (see screenshot), also in Device Manager "One" reports no drivers but I have installed HTC Sync Manager 2.1.77.0, I have also uninstalled all HTC software and reinstalled but still get this error.
Any ideas how to get passed this?
Thanks once again

You could try one of the other recoveries for the One TWRP or Philz Touch 5 and see if you can mount the USB storage in there then copy the appropriate ROM you want to install on the phone and flash it in recovery. If all else fails you should be able to upload the ROM file using adb and then flash in recovery.

It appears the computer isn't able to correctly identify the adb interface....make sure HTC sync manager is completely uninstalled first. Search on xda for the HTC one drivers without HTC sync (it should be version 4.1 or something
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Right, I have put TWRP recovery back on but it was not mounting as a storage devive. I was getting "E Cannot Mount" message every time I tried to do anything and there was no file sizes showing. I have searched for this issue and saw a lot of people with the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2373227
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2404328
However I formatted the phone using TWRP and then restarted the phone back into recovery and file sizes were showing and Hasoon2000's Tool was able to connect to the handset via "ADB Sideload a Rom" option. I have pushed ViperOne_2.7.0 ROM onto my HTC One.
It was taken all day and a lot of time but finally got it to work, I don't think Ill be messing about with ROMS on this phone any time soon
Like to say thanks to all who helped.:cyclops:

Hey guys, so this is my first post here on XDA, and being totally honest I am a complete noob who has no idea what technical terms mean. Terms like S-Off and H-Boot are all Greek to me. :/
Ok so I have an Incredible S which came with a custom ICS Rom. But since there's an official rom from HTC Dev I downloaded that, connected my phone to HTC Sync and ran the exe file. Everything went fine, the progress bar went on, but after the setup on my pc said that it was completed the phone just seems to be stuck on the HTC white screen. It was that was for over an hour and I knew something had gone wrong.
The rom that I downloaded was the NAM one.
I know how to get into the bootloader screen (power and volume down) and these are what I see there:

I thought I got a corrupted rom or something so I downloaded the WWE rom from HTC Dev as well, but when I extracted the rar file it's a whole load of folders and files I don't even know how to use, unlike the earlier NAM file which was a simple exe. What worries me more is that I have no idea how to even connect the phone to my USB and get a rom inside the SD card so I could flash it through the bootloader.
I went through so many threads on this forum but like I said, I don't really understand all the techy terms. :/
Many apologies, but I'd really appreciate a walkthrough on how I can get my phone to work again.
Present status with the phone is that it won't get past the HTC logo screen and won't connect to the computer.
Please help!
Thank you!
Wrong forum, post in Incredible S Q/A
First post on a nice website... AND YOU BLEW IT! Lol. But yeah, wrong phone forum.

Your phone has the Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT which is preventing the WWE RUU from running successfully. At this point, you have the new ROM installed, but it requires the stock HTC ICS HBOOT be in place to boot and run, thus the reason the phone gets hung at the HTC screen.
I suggest you reinstall a custom recovery such as 4EXT and then install mike1986's ARHD ROM. This is based on the latest HTC ICS ROM that you have attempted to install, but has a number of performance tweaks.

Possibly. Although mike1986 has listed it on previous versions as being a requirement, it has run perfectly fine on Revolutionary HBOOT 6.13.
Follow Up: Reinstall Recovery

Hi tpbklake,
So I am new to this as well so bare with me. I have the exact same problem (WWE RUU not running because of Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT) however I'm not sure how to go about implementing your solution. You see, I can open the bootloader however I can't get past it. Fastboot doesn't do anything for me. What can I do to get past this problem?

Do you have HTC Sync and the associated drivers installed on your PC? What OS are you running? It sounds like a driver issue to me.

I do have HTC Sync and I do have the HTC drivers installed. I'm running Windows 7. The problem is that HTC Sync nor my computer cant locate the device because the phone doesn't go past the bootloader screen. If I try to start the phone normally or in recovery mode it just freezes at the white htc screen.

OK, remove HTC Sync, but leave the HTC drivers installed.
Boot the phone into bootloader and then then select FASTBOOT from the HBOOT menu.
Then connect your phone with the USB cable and the phone menu should change to FASTBOOT USB.
Once you get that far, you should be able to flash a custom recovery using the command
fastboot flash recovery [name of the recovery.img file]
You should download the recovery.img file to your PC and put it in the same directory where you have the adb.exe and fastboot.exe.
THANK YOU

Thank you! Your directions worked perfectly. Much appreciated! :good:
I need some guidance on trying to resurrect an HTC Incredible 2 (Verizon) that is currently a stock unit (never rooted or unlocked) that will not boot - gets stuck on white HTC screen. The person using it, went and upgraded to another device and was about to throw the unit out until I decided to take one crack at a rebuild.
I can get into the HBoot screen and have attempted numerous factory resets to no avail... system will simply show a progress bar that never moves.
I've been searching this board and can't seem to get a clear way to get a full image back onto the phone. I've tried some of the moves to copy a RUU file to P32IMG.zip but keep getting "main version is older" messages from numerous different versions that I've tried. (So, the unit is reading the SD card correctly)
Can anyone point me to a guide to simply blast a new image onto the phone (preferably via the SD Card, since I'm not able to get onto the phone via a USB cable - even after I've installed HTC Sync). I don't care about rooting or unlocking as a first start... I just want to see if the phone will boot and doesn't have a hardware problem. ...and most of the rooting/unlocking guides on this board assume you can boot to Android as a first step - which i cannot do.

Hoping u do have ADB FASTBOOT installed on your computer if u dont the HTC DEV will provide you with all the files u needed
For start you need to log-in in HTCDEV web and get phone unlocked NOT (s-off) and try flash a recovery of any choice (experiment step checking if u can still boot in HBOOT or not)
Ok can you get into HTC LOGO with an Exclamation mark (!) .If yes u will still be able to Send command via Fastboot .Now that you have HTC SYNC (untill unistall the unless and just keep HTC drivers) .You did tried the RUU but an network locked or an unlocked can be on of the issue why it never worked and hence u never get into HBOOT screen. Download any rom of your choice and a Recovery either CMW or any u want move the rom in SD CARD.. Once u reach the Deleopment LOGO (Exclamation logo) flash the recovery Via CMD " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and try reboot you phone if it still does not boot in the HBOOT(If i worked it step one) all u gotta do now is boot is recovery install any rom u want and flash the boot.img manually (Fastboot flash boot boot.img) . Wipe cache devil cache battery state (aka clean slate)..
Assume it never worked at forst place ..Take the Network specific RUU and boot your phone into DELEOPMENT MODE and run the RUU (if an error pop's up) simple disconnect the phone take the battery out and try the HBoot boot (It has worked a lot when an error message on screen) phone choose to boot into recovery.
And the longest trick is get it unlocked via htc dev (UNLOCKED) and downgrage your Hboot verson to its lowest (S-off) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118187 and redo the earlier steps
Guys i could really use some help i'll buy you a beer just tell me where to send the money

Using CWM and TWRP - sometimes one works and sometimes one doesnt
Using adapter to 16gb jump drive (to install roms using recovery)
My trouble is that every rom i've installed has left me in a boot loop. sometimes the rom will load, sometimes i wont make it past the lockscreen, the time varies but never more than a few minutes and not once have i had a connection - no service, no 3g , 4g wifi or anything.
I've looked into acquiring S-OFF, but for hboot 1.56 im not sure.
firewater requires the internet connection and seeing how i can barely keep my phone from bootlooping... this has been two days now and im in desperate need for my phone.
what do i need to download/install or research? i wipe every time i flash, i can use adb...
Im fairly savvy enough to use/understand the tools provided to me, i just am at a loss as to what to do now.
I've tried to go to a RUU but between the two versions i tried, neither worked ( i tried with the 'locked' and 'unlocked' )
i used the guru reset (thanks crushalot) for CID SPCS_001 and it did load but again i had no service and the phone would restart every few minutes. I used the htc all in one tool (thanks hasoon) to push revone - never got anywhere with that at all - moonshine and rumrunner also did not work.
Heres the list of roms ive tried already by using both twrp and cwm. these are zips located on my 16gb flashdrive attached using an adapter. the roms normally load and give successful messages but then when loading either fail or only loop:

My guess is you tried to install a GSM rom which messed up your parttions.
Use this guide to fix
Use the 4.06 s-on firmware and when you get to step 8 refer to 8a (adb push a Sprint 4.06.651.4 sense rom to your device) once you are up and running you can flash any Sprint 4.06.651.4 rom.
Any questions PM or post here

It says you used the 3.04.651.2 firmware..it would not be possible for you to flash the 3.04 firmware because you are s-on your phone wont allow it.
Or if that was a typo and you did indeed use the correct firmware you most likely got an error and it didn't finish flashing.
Or the rom was a bad download.
I noticed that you sideloaded a Rom and flashed after the RUU? Did you flash the boot.img found in the zip of the Rom you flashed?
Sent from my HTC One using xda-developers app
Dang i dont know since i named it firmware. I knew i had to get the 4.06, maybe i made a typo. nonetheless i dl now and going to follow the exact process again.

Sideloaded a rom yes, im not using an ruu, (although if i could i would use an ruu but i have yet to make it work without error maybe due to my version) but if i was, flash what after? if unzip a rom and find the boot.img should i flash that?
I feel that the fact my connection is gone; cell,3g 4g wifi - that it means something much more devastating has happened. I rooted an evo years ago and i remember finding problems like this that refer to wimax and rsa keys. Anyway. ill post more info once i figure out EXACTLY which firmware i install this time.

Alright. Using the correct firmware 4.06 this time and it finished and gave a success message, afterwards i adb sideload through twrp this ROM Sprint-HTCONE_Sense-4.4.2.zip found here on xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633129 and then i extracted the boot.img found in the ROM. I used fastboot flash boot boot.img and had success. At reboot... Failure looms again.
Described as Odexed/Rooted
I'm wondering whats happening. at the lockscreen i open and see this message: "process htc.dialer.com isnt working would you like to.." then it gives me a green htc logo and whit background. at the lockscreen i see that i have no signal. seems as though i am missing vital pieces of the puzzle.

YES! I used firewater (thanks to the developer) and it was simple! It also removed the ***Tampered*** flag.
Cheers! Have a beer on me.

You are very welcome, glad you got it working enjoy
hello everyone I have a HTC one stuck on boot. To start, it was working fine then i started to get it unlocked(gsm) to use it on gsm network.
I was able to unlock boot loader, root it but i was not able to unlock it with terminal from the instructions provided from other threads nor the application from google apps the message said it was not a sense rom. I kept reading then i found out i was suppose to put viperrom so the app could run but after i put that the phone started fine but the touch stopped working so i was in step one.
I kept on researching and found out about the drivers and read that i was suppose to put bad boyz rom i download it but I'm not able to load it on the phone. I have a macbook pro, i have parallel desktop where i run windows 7, and i also tried from mac Terminal to no avail is been over a week now i been messing with this. I also tried the stock restore to put it back to stock but nothing. when i start the phone this is some info i find on the menu I'm new to HTC ever since i had the htc pro 2 so your help yowl be greatly appreciated it

i tried to restore, put it on fast boot usb open the exe file(1gb) rom but is keeps sending for hours...
also when i start in power+volume down then press Recovery I get Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.0 where i get quite a fews options from install backup wipe, mount settings...adavanced, reboot. I new to HTC. Once again I have no idea where to go from here, please shed some light and i'll keep reading and researching how to get this phone back to working conditions. Thank you in advance.
Hey all. Been browsing the forum to try to figure this out on my own, but I honestly don't understand this stuff enough to decipher what I need to do next (my experience is with x64-based PC systems).
So let's start off with the background as to what happened. Went back to using my Sprint HTC One as my Samsung S6 Edge decided to go for a dip in some water (yeah, I know). Anyway, I hadn't used the One in almost 2 years so as you can imagine, it was extremely out of date. I had forgotten that I had rooted the device and was running Cyanogenmod on it as well (with TWRP), so I attempted to reset everything to stock (stock ROM and recovery) in order to get OTA software and firmware updates.
After browsing the forum a bit, I decided to use the GuruReset with Aroma installer to reset everything to stock (running the tool through the TWRP recovery on the device itself). It seemed like it worked just fine, but upon reboot, it now just sits at the bootloader and none of the options really do anything (just reboots it back to the bootloader again). I will list a readout of what I see on my screen and hopefully you guys can help out a fellow nerd (and admitted Android noob) figure out this issue.
Btw, I have already attempted to use the HTC One Toolkit v3.3.0 (EoL) to no avail (whenever I try to use one of the options in the toolkit, the program crashes). Running Windows 10 on my PC.

That's basically what I did to cause the problem in the first place. Had TWRP installed with Cyanogenmod from a couple years ago. Went to reset it to stock ROM and stock recovery. Now it just sits at the bootloader without doing anything. Doesn't even seem like there's a recovery on it at all.... Basically, the flash to stock failed from what I can tell and now there's nothing on it to load.
Try reFlashing TWRP on it, and look for the original rom
I still have no idea why you want the original recovery. but well, your choice
Also the thing is you might have just deleted the whole recovery , from what I know when you flash a custom recovery you overwrite the original recovery, so when you removed it completely
sorry , I am a newbie as well , I barely managed to fix my own m7 but now it works fine with cyanogenmod 13

Can you please post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (remove your imei, meid and serialno before posting)
What version of Guru reset rom did you flashed exactly (link) ?
I think it would be better to flash a RUU and have everything back to stock (wating for your getvar)
Btw twrp got overwritten by the stock recovery when flashing the Guru reset rom, that why twrp isn't there anymore.
