I am using google voice,
I have my text messages set to go to the app, and I have google voice set also to ask me every time I make a call whether I wish to call with google voice or regularly.
When I try to call anyone from gear it hangs, the how would you like to call, via google voice or regularly menu comes up on the phone, and the gear says call ended without making the call.
I imagine if I set the phone to call regularly without prompting me when I call that it wouldn't have a problem.
Hope this helps.

Couldn't get the text messages to. Work

Google voice vs you mail

Has anyone left google voice for you mail?
What's you mail??

Never heard of it, but I am a big fan of Google Voice integration with Sprint so it would take a lot to get me to switch.

I've been using youmail forever. I didn't like how Google voice did my phone calls and texts. Youmail is the ****.

I haven't used YouMail since I had a BlackBerry back in 2008. Haha.
Do they still charge for voicemail transcription? Because that would be the dealbreaker for me. Even if Google Voice does a poor job transcribing...it's free.

No.

You mail seems to be the pre cursor to voice, it works well but they do charge for transcriptions

Left for youmail months ago and haven't looked back. Voice integration with sprint was horrible (no mms killed it). Love you mail, but do miss the transcription.

Sprint Integration is optional. When you first set up GV just press "skip" and use GV for voicemail only. If you already did the integration, goto google.com/voice and cancel the integration and start over

I have 2 quick questions about gvoice. When I recieve a voicemail and go to the phone app it is in the inbox and the voicemail folder as well is this correct?
also im getting voicemails that are unable to be transcribed also is this also to be expected ? Thanks

Did at&t purposely hose google voice on this phone?

One thing that has always drove me nuts about this phone is google voice. On my captivate it was cake to setup. Install the app log in, and go through setup and your good. On my vivid however you get an error when trying to switch voicemail provider to google voice. There is a workaround and I did that, it forwards voicemails to google voice instead of the default AT&T number. However the app doesn't sync right, it never notifies me anymore. I think att purposely hosed it so we had to use there crappy paid visual voicemail service.

K I uninstalled it and reinstalled and went through setup again and its working fine now. We'll see if it lasts

I had similar issues at the beginning. It's working OK now.
So what's this work-around for the voicemail? I'd like to know.
Change all the voice mail forwarding numbers to your Google Voice number, and google voice should work as its supposed to

What was the work around? Is like to use GV as voicemail.

See my previous post. Pretty much if yours isn't notifying than uninstall it and reinstall. Then go through set up as usual. After it fails to change your settings, go in and change your forwarding numbers from atts voice mail number to your Google voice number and should work.

So does the call then forward to GV as a call, or does it forward to GV as just the voicemail? I'm still hazy on the subject. I've already changed my forwarding numbers.

Just make sure always forward is disabled

Thank you, I got it fixed.

Except the AT&T VVM is free for people with LTE plans, so....
I wasn't aware either way it's rubbish bloatware, and I'd rather use my Google voice.

Best voice mail app?

Hey guys
Can you suggest me a good voicemail app for n7000. Ics 404

If you are looking for voice mail from system itself (like symbian e.g. application that recieve call and record voice msg) then forget it on android.
The only feature i miss from Nokia
Yeah sum thing like advanced call manager for symbian. The app was jus awesome.
Is there no app in play store... Like virtual assistant
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Advanced call manager is there but it wont have voice mail function like in symbian
It is limitation of android OS.
Yeah it's a shame we can't have such an important functionality on such an advanced phone

Google voice is fixed

The problem with Google voice force closing in 4.2 has been fixed. I just downloaded the update and it now works.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Exellent! Thanks for the update. I am impressed with how quickly developers are fixing application issues.
What was wrong with it?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It would force close if you went into it to send a text message.

Voice is screwed on my phone -
Was using voice for texting and voice mail. Have texting blocked through AT&T.
Now with the update, voice is requiring that my phone send a text through AT&T to set up voice.
I can't send the text becuase texts are blocked.
Any way around this so I can just get back to using voice the way I did before the update?

Smart-Linked Phone Numbers?
I, too, am using Google Voice + GrooveIP on a wifi-only Nexus 7. The only annoyance for me is that I want all the phone numbers I find on the Internet, in Google Maps, etc, to be smart-linked to open GrooveIP and call, just like on a real smartphone. Has anyone hacked the Nexus native dialer to be able to do this? Or found another way?
Thanks!
Have used TableTalk w/ buetooth headset /w my Galaxy Note. Work Perfect.
