I have bought two (one for myself and one for my wife) in Sony Store Shanghai.
Everythings works fine, but I just discovered that the LED notifcation light on the WHITE version is brigther than the PURPLE version:

White has STOCK CN 534 firmware with ROOT, Purple has STOCK TW 534 firmware wth Root.
(The screen on the TW version (purple) is more blue-ish on white screens, while CN version (white) is more yellow-ish on white screens.)
I dont' get it, is CN LED brigther than TW LED??? That wouldnt make sense right?
Or is it really that Purple just have a DIMMER LED light than the white?
Any devs can help confirm? Any chance for me to make the LED brigther with my Root wthout having too much trouble???~~~
Perhaps as simple as the white case reflect light better than the purple?
My black Z1 has also some kind of dim light I suppose... (i have not had any change to compare)

Same here... Black one has very dimm notification light.. Try Lightflow its an app that controls LED lights so should be able to increase the brightness of the light... You will have to buy it though!

I see. looks like its only the WHITE has best light, due to best reflection (white)..
I Tried lightflow and light manager, but none of them can really increase the brightness.
Its ok, not a big deal, just a small detail which doesnt have influence during daily use~

Hi everyone!
I am thinking to get an Xperia Z tomorrow, and could order black, white or purple online from Sony, or black and purple from o2 or get the white one from Phones4You.
Any comments about the colours, if the body of the phone shows marks with one colour more than another etc, would be appreciated.
Might also get the charging dock!
I think any special offers are long gone.....

Personally White, after going to the Sony Showroom in Tokyo and seeing all 3 of them I reckon the white is the best looking one. The purple is also quite nice, the black seems to show fingerprints on the glass backing a bit too much for my liking.
Only thing that puts me off the white is the black frame around the screen at the front. If it's going to be white I prefer it to be virtually all white. Except the screen of course. Just my opinion.

I had a purple one. It always turned heads (me being a 16 year old boy n all) plus its a great conversation starter. Marks aren't really that visible

That thanks button doesn't bite
I have a black one, my gf a purple one. The black is really nice, although fingerprint friendly. But with a black skin (or a new rom supposdly) it is a really great looking slab. The purple one is quite nice too, especially in sunlight. But for me the purple one is a little too ehh oldish-purple looking. I haven't seen the white one in person, but I'm sure it's still a great device.
Just go and see for yourself if you can
Notice the black front border around screen

I started using this for my night table when charging at night. I'm not too sure how it would do with battery life if you use it as a watchface but I'm planning on testing it.
It has great brightness options. You can dim it for night use by swiping gently down or raise the brightness by swiping up. The little details in the lighting are nice. When you dim the brightness you see the shadows of the digits and days of the week. The disappear when you fully brighten it.

Can anyone alleviate my fears that the image would be burned into the screen after extensive use?

I agree, that will probably be a problem.
I had a Galaxy S3 that burned in badly after leaving it lit all night for a few months on a nightstand.

I was wondering about this too. My wife's phone which is a fairly recent moto model had terrible burn-in just from basic use. You can see her homescreen apps pretty clearly.

Really stuck between red and black. I finally went with black. I heard the back is glass, and that seems okay in black. If it was polycarbonate I'd have gone with red.
Why is that? Fingerprints will show up the most on black. The other colors will show less and white will show the least.

I ordered black as well. I don't want a flashy phone, so green and red aren't an option, and I personally think white phones are ugly. Black is sleek and unobtrusive.
My Z3C is in red/orange !

Congrats on your new phone!
I'm just wondering, how red is it really? I was frothing over the red Z3C, but some people say it's more orange?
I have the black one since yesterday and I find that smudges on the back aren't nearly as visible as I though they would be. It's also nice to not have a distracting bright rim around the front. I had a white Xperia Acro S before this and I always found the white rim around the front to be a bit distracting.
Now that I've seen how small it is I kind of wish I'd gone with green or red. However, it's not like you can go wrong with black. I like that the phone is a total slab.
Any idea what this is? Top of phone has that orange and green charging / notification light which shows up as a tiny dot in one of those little holes.
My phone has a green light that's constantly on for the past week or so on the bottom in one of the little holes directly below the H in HTC.

Well, no.. because I only have my cell phone camera. I could have a relative snap a photo tomorrow while I am over for Christmas, but just as easy to draw the dot on myself:

Look under the H at the bottom. I'm pretty sure I've never seen this on until this past week or so. It's on constantly. That's the exact hole the light is in.
Glitter? No LED down there

use the front camera and hold your phone in a mirror to take the pic
I doubt it would be glitter. I doubt it has anything to do with the screen as even when the screen is off that light is on. I will try taking it in the mirror later, I'm just not sure if you'll see it as the holes are so small.

It would be easy enough to tell if it is a light or something stuck in the hole. Turn off the device. If it is still there, it's not a light. Or the lights in the house (at night), if it is there, it's either a light or glow in the dark glitter.
Actually as i was browsing on my galaxy s10 i saw a dark outline of under display fingerprint scanner on the dynamic amoled, this issue is only visible on white background, this is of deep concern, did anyone notice this issue?
Hi. I cannot see anything there on the screen - not one bit, regardless which background it is.

I can see it too but only in bright sunlight shining strait at the screen with a white background. Even then it's hard to see. I tried it under a bright UV light and other very bright lights and do not see it otherwise. If you check this video out at 8:50 it should explain why. It's the reflection from the bright sunlight reflecting through and then back from the screen. I don't see it as a defect, it's just the design of the fingerprint reader. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes visible all the time.
But while i was using Chrome in direct sunlight the shadow stayed throughout and it was very irritating.
Do check in direct sunlight

Maybe stick some gaffer tape over it to hide it?
